My 2010 Honda Accord check enginge light came on and I took my car to Honda dealership to be checked out. They found out the problem was with the Piston ring code P0303. They called CarShield and was on hold for over 4 hrs and they finally hung up and I called them several times and I too was placed on hold for a long time and one time they hung up on me. Anyway when dealership finally talk to CarShield, they said that issue was not covered. I feel they false advertise and its a rip off. I need them to pay for the repairs or refund all of my money back. I paid $99 for over a year and I want every penny of it paid back or else I will file a complaint with the small claim court and will be asking for cost of repairs, court cost, lawyer fee, rental car fees and any other expenses incurred. They need to take care of this matter right away because i'm without transportation and I need my vehicle for work.

Thank you for reaching out. We appreciate the opportunity to help you in the resolution of this matter. We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield (AAS), to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. AAS stated that they have spoken to you on June 5th and June 8th regarding your vehicle's oil consumption problem and that this repair is excluded from coverage under your contract terms. American Auto Shield has paid over 10 million dollars in covered repair claims for our customers, just since February 1, 2020 alone. However, if you are unhappy with your contract terms, we would be willing to cancel your contract and refund the money you have paid into your coverage. Please let us know if you would like to keep your service contract for future covered repairs or if you would like us to get it cancelled out for you and issue your refund. We will look forward to hearing back from you. You may respond to *** or to this site.Respectfully, Customer Relations

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: I feel they are trying to get out from paying for the repairs and since this is a piston ring problem, it should be covered. CarShield keep saying it is oil consumption when the dealership plainly say it's a piston ring problem. My car is still at the dealership and I will be satisfied when they pay for the repairs.

Sincerely

CarShield Response • Jun 11, 2020

We have heard back from your service contract administrator. They have stated that they have reviewed the most recent claim and the prior claim for the same reason listed as oil consumption. The engine is consuming oil excessively. There are no failed parts identified by the repair facility in either instance. Nothing has broken or failed. They cannot authorize a repair when no components can be shown as failed. As we stated earlier, we would be willing to refund the payments you have made into your service contract in a good faith effort to resolve this matter for you. However the claim cannot be authorized and paid when there can be no failure shown.Respectfully,Customer Relations

I am rejecting this response because: I feel they need to pay for the repairs for my vehicle because that's what they advertised. They are trying to get the easy way out. I need my care repaired ASAP because this is my means of transportation to work. I would be satisfied when they agree to pay for the repairs.

I'M GONNA LOSE MY JOB BC of CARSHIELD
1 hour here, 2 hours there. 2.5 hours the next day waiting on the phone, followed by a hopeful yet brief "let me check into it"; the "into it" being the fact my pickup truck has been in the shop with a busted cam shaft since WEDNESDAY of last week, and all I'm getting is a "oh the Inspector should've been there - HE WAS SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY (6/9/2020) AFTERNOON.

Did he show? NOPE. LIKE COME ON PLEASEEEEE GOOOOO TO *** in Clearwater, FL AND AUTHORIZE MY VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED!!!!! PLEASE!!! I have worked FAR TOO HARD TO LOSE THIS JOB BECAUSE WHOEVER WONT DO THEIRS!!!! PLEASE I'M BEGGING CARSHIELD's PEOPLE TO DO THE RIGHT THING!! The mechanic even called their people and VERIFIED the parts that needed to be replaced. NOW we're JUST WAITING ON the "INSPECTOR"!!!!!!!!
I just need to have someone get to the repair shop to authorize the repairs. Like I said before, the mechanic was nice enough to call CARSHIELD and VERIFY the parts that needed to be repaired and they advised him they were covered under my policy.
CarShield needs to HIRE MORE PEOPLE if I'm forced to wait on the phone with their customer service for over 2 hours each time I call. NO ONE should EVER wait that long "on hold". IF they can afford a fancy TV commercial, instead of hiring more employees to keep productivity level high, seems to me their priorities for business are ALL wrong.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not feel that the policy & service I have paid for has been upheld by CarShield or American Auto Shield in any way. I have been blatantly disregarded & disrespected as a customer; left on hold for over 2 hours; was told my policy covered the parts that needed to be repaired, only to then be told the "Cam Shaft is not covered "due to driving". I am appalled to find out that an essential part not being covered, due to "driving"? Even though my policy claims it is. I have been tossed from CarShield "general adjuster" to "powertrain adjusters"; to being hung up on; then calling back only to wait on hold for yet another 2.5 hours. My current job is on the line and I've explained my situation to them SEVERAL times... only to be disregarded and placed on hold.

I have been forced to rent a U-Haul pickup truck as a means to KEEP MY JOB; to also find out only $160 of rental fees will be covered. The inspector they have didn't show up on the scheduled days he was supposed to. We are now going into a THIRD week of disregarded delays. I have time stamp photos of the duration at which I was placed on hold for another hour +. I expressed my unhappiness with the services provided, to be told by CarShield & American Auto Shield personnel, "it's unfortunate"; then place me on hold again. For another 2 hours. I get a prompt that my call is next, and it is SEVERAL hours before it is answered.

I am very, very disappointed in the situation and how I have been treated by these companies. I will not accept anything less than for them to finish the job and cover all of the ESSENTIAL parts that need replacing. The parts I was told ARE covered for replacement under my policy.

Sincerely

CarShield Response • Jun 12, 2020

Thank you for reaching out to us again. American Auto Shield has reviewed your concerns and requested a call out to your repair facility. The inspection report was returned and an incorrect judgement made on the camshaft coverage. This will be covered. However, you stated the problem was present for 2 weeks before taking it to the repair facility. There are clear contract requirements that the vehicle must be protected and the contract has tow coverage specifically for this reason. Failure to protect your vehicle from continued operation will result in additional damages that are not covered under your contract terms. The call should be completed in the next business day.American Auto Shield will be in touch with you shortly to discuss the covered repairs. Respectfully,Customer Relations

Was told by agent everything was covered. NOTHING was covered

CarShield Response • Jun 16, 2020

CarShield is here to address your concerns and help you in the resolution of this matter.
You purchased a Repair Sentry membership. As explained during the purchase, the membership does not cover repairs but rather helps with the cost of repairs, sometimes saving you up to 30% off the total cost of your repair. We have reviewed the sales call and the membership terms were explained to you in detail at that time. The representative you spoke with explained that this is a repair negotiation service and does not pay for repairs. The membership puts an experienced adjuster on your side to make sure your repair facilailty is not upcharging for parts or labor and is able to have to cost of your repair adjusted in most cases.
If you are not happy with your membership, we would be willing to refund the payments you have made as a gesture of good will and in a good faith effort to resolve this matter for you. You may contact us at [email protected] if you have any additional questions.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I purchased the car sheild warranty. My vehicle started to sound like a diesel so I took it to the dealership. The dealership diagnosed the car as needing a new engine. The dealer called the warranty to get the approval, after 3 hours on hold we were told that the engine needs to be torn down to show a 'certifiable damage" The service manager stated the engine is not like old engines.. the diagnosis warrants a new engine, thats the fix. The warranty company stated I needed to pay the $2500 to tear down the engine to decide if they will pay the claim. The NISSAN service manager stated this is not how to diagnose the problem. The codes produced and the noise indicate -new engine, thats the NISSAN fix for the problem. I was told until I produce services records-I change my own oil and have none, and the tear down is done they will not approve the claim. The problem is, if I pay the upfront money- which I cannot afford- they could still deny the claim, then I will be paying the $2500 plus the new engine. This is not how the process was advertised or explained to me. The customer service person *** repeatedly stated to refer to my contract, when the only paperwork I have from carsheild is the confirmation of them getting their payments by ACH. of course... this is unacceptable. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was given every reason why I could not, and he only gave me a first name, no number, email or not even his supervisor's last name, wouldn't even transfer me to his voicemail. The first mechanic even stated it was nothing I did to make this happen, just a lot of miles in a short period of time, but the repair was something they do not do. I rely on my vehicle for work and this is crazy, I thought I was covered.. the ad on FOX doesnt say any of this...

I am rejecting this response because: This has gotten nowhere, we are back to they want the engine torn down, and thats not what even the nissan dealer does. And in regards to the customer service, I just heard back from Carshield today, and was told I would have a response last week. This isnt how this was explained to me upon starting the coverage, I never recieved a contract, if I did, I would have kept anything they required as far as records, anything. I think this was false advertising.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have reviewed the notes in your file and the contract was cancelled because there was a 40,000 mile discrepancy due to a roll back reported on Jan 20, 2020. Since we were unable to verify the true mileage of the vehicle it has been excluded from coverage.

I have contacted CarShield and they chose Not to review the correction made by CarFax. Extremely Poor Customer Service

This company is the worse when it comes to robo calls and harassment. These folks have been calling me for over 2 years. I've asked to be put on the do not call list on several occasions, to no avail. I've blocked their numbers,to no avail, I've spoken with them on the phone to no avail. Up until this day I am being awakened from sleep, and disturbed as I go about my way. I have zero faith in a company that would permit this. I would like to take legal action against them.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. However CarShield does not robocall any consumers. CarShield only calls current customers whose service contract is nearing expiration, or consumers who have requested information via our website. We do not cold call or robo call consumers.
If you would like to provide us with your phone number, we can review our phone records and see if we have ever spoken with you. We would be happy to do that, and remove you from our contact list if we have ever spoken.

I brought my 2009 VW Jetta to the VW Honolulu dealership on May 18 with a A/C problem along
with an issue with the Vacuum pump. The dealer contacted CarShield and was told an inspector
would be there in a 'few' days. The adjuster showed up one week later on May 25th, took pictures and sent them to CarShield only to be told they were not good enough. More pictures along with video was requested over the next two weeks. I spent countless hours on the phone holding for someone in Customer Service to help me to no avail. On June 3rd, after 2 1/2 weeks of dealing with this I was told OEM parts would be sent, however nothing arrived. On June 4th
I was told everything was approved, however the VW dealer had not heard from CarShield.
Today, on June 5th, I am again subjected to endless hours of holding on the phone with nothing being accomplished. It clearly shows that CarShield is trying every trick in the book to avoid
paying for the claim. I will write a letter to the Attorney General of Hawaii to see what that office can do to prevent this company from scamming other customers.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I was told this morning by an AutoShield representative that the repair was covered by the contract, only to find out from the

VW Honolulu repair facility that AutoShield would only cover a fraction of the cost of the parts.

The total parts cost is 1517.26, yet AutoShield will only cover 578.47 dollars making me responsible for the 938.79

difference. When I bought the coverage, I was told I could bring the car to any certified repairshop including the dealership for repairs and it would be covered.

I consider this fraudulent behaviour and I will contact the Hawaii Attorney General's office tomorrow if this does not get resolved

today.

Thank you for reaching back out. We are happy to address your concerns.

We have reached back out to your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, for more information on your repair claim. The stated they reviewed this claim and it has been authorized correctly. American Auto Shield has authorized $2,661 for covered repairs. Your repair facility is charging above MSRP for some of the parts and American Auto Shield also sourced several parts at more reasonable prices, per the terms of the contract, for a more cost effective repair for you.

Your repair facility refuses to let accept the shipped in parts from American Auto Shield. Because of this, you would either pay the difference or have your vehicle moved to another repair shop that will allow American Auto Shield to ship in the more cost effective parts.

Your repair facility is charging labor time above and beyond industry standard rates which is above what is covered by the contract.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact American Auto Shield directly. They are your service contract administrator and have full authority over repair claim decisions and payments. They will be able to specifically address any questions or concerns you may have. You may reach them *** or at the address listed on the first 3 pages of your service contract ***.

Again, your contract administrator has authorized $2661.00 on this repair claim.

I am very disappointed in carshield. After paying in for one year and filing no claims I had a problem with a wheel bearing affecting my ABS brakes and even though wheel bearings are covered by the contract that I have, they denied my claim stating that it was caused by corrosion. I called and asked them to refund a portion of what I had paid into my contract but they refused. I have cancelled my contract and will no longer support this company for I feel they are dishonest when it comes to handling claims.

I purchased a Car Shield protection plan April 2020 and filed a claim May 2020. After the waiting period, my vehicle began experiencing transmission problems. I filled a claim and was informed that the claim was denied because the vehicle had a salvaged/branded title in 2008. I purchased the vehicle in 2018 and was not aware of the vehicle having a salvaged title. My title gave no indication of a previous salvaged title in 2008. Because the vehicle is considered salvaged, Car Shield does not honor claims or contracts of vehicles with salvaged titles that exceed Car Shields miles limit. Because of this fact, I should have never been sold the Car Shield protection plan if the vehicle does in fact have a salvaged title. However, the plan was sold despite both parties being unaware of the salvaged title.

CarShield Response • Jun 05, 2020

When you purchased your service contract on April 20, 2020, the representative you spoke with asked you if your vehicle had a salvage or branded title. You replied that it did not. On June 1, 2020 CarShield received an message from your service contract administrator that they had found your vehicle to have been declared a total loss in 2007. This excludes your vehicle from coverage and voids your service contract. You are in the process of being refunded in full.Your initial payment of 79.99 has already been credited back to your Visa Card ending in 4786. I purchased a service contract with Car shield. I paid monthly premiums for 5 months. Then my vehicle needed a rear end service. I took it to *** who does all the repairs for ***. which was my preferred mechanic. *** & Car shield had some type of disagreement. So next I took it to *** in Decatur, Ga. Car shield had a disagreement with them as well. So I asked Car shield to refer me to their choice of repair services. They referred me to *** on Jousha St. I drove my car to the *** they referred me to. ***, who is the Manager there agreed to repair my vehicle. But Car shield wanted him to tell them why it needed the repair. My vehicle is a 2006 Dodge nitro, its a bit older and THATS why it needed the repair. *** only replaces the rear end. They dont take it apart to say why it was broken. Car shield then ask me to take my vehicle to yet another repair service. That was the 4th time that I was to move my vehicle. Thats when I decided to cancel my membership and pay out of my own pocket to repair my vehicle.

CarShield is here to address your concerns. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to respond. We contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair you have referenced. In review of their notes, we only see a claim that was submitted back on June 11, 2019. Your service contract administrator has the once pending claim marked as inactive on September 10, 2019. Your service contract administrator shows that the one repair facility you took your vehicle to, stated they heard a humming noise coming from the differential and there was play in the drive shaft. The repair facility said they wanted to diagnose the failure based on the noise they heard and wanted to replace the rear axle assembly. Your contract administrator requested a diagnosis of the cause of failure. Your repair facility stated that they did not want to perform the diagnosis to find cause of failure. Your contract administrator spoke with you on June 12, 2019...a year ago...and explained that you would need to move your vehicle to a repair shop that would diagnose your vehicle's failure so they could proceed with the repair claim. You chose to disconnect the call. Your vehicle was never moved to another repair facility as was requested. You called our office and requested cancellation of your service contract on June 12, 2019. I was unaware of all the bad reviews and complaints of CarShield prior to signing up. I was truly thinking from the commercials on TV that I was making the right choice by signing up. I just purchased new car and I wanted to have the extra peace of mind incase I did need unexpected repairs in the future. I signed up in April 2020 and then about 26 days or so and 540 miles or so later goes by and my check engine light comes on and my car is blowing white smoke. So I immediately take it to my certified mechanic to see what the problem is. I let him know that I have CarShield and I gave him a copy of my contract with the number to call to submit a claim and to get authorized for any repairs. I was sure that I would be covered with CarShield, that's why I signed up in the first place. The repairs that needed to be done to my car my mechanic told me that they would be covered under my contract because he read it to make sure it was a covered component. After days of calling claims department and no one answering the phone, my mechanic called me and said he could not get ahold of anyone. So I tried calling and waited on the phone for over 30 minutes the first time just to get hung up on and then the second time another 30 minutes and finally to get through to someone. I let her know my mechanic is trying to submit a claim and can't reach out to anyone so she kindly called my mechanic. Then I received a call back from my mechanic saying that they denied my claim saying that it was not covered. He was shocked because he tried to explain that the parts were covered in the contract. But CarShield and American Auto Shield found ever way to still deny the claim. I read over my contract several times and the parts should be covered per my contract. I am so upset I could literally cry my eyes out right now. This whole thing is one big joke. I am already low income and now I have to come up with a way to pay to get my car repaired at $1600 for the service that should be covered through my contract with CarShield. I would like a total refund of the 2 months I paid CarShield a total of $258 that I can use towards my car repair. I can't believe I thought they would actually have my back when it came down to needing car repair services. I called as of today 6/4/2020 to cancel my contract. I did receive the confirmation email but it does not say anything about a refund or even a confirmation number. Please refund my 2 payments I made of $258. Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Customer Response • Jun 19, 2020

This message is for the Revdex.com to let them know that it has now been officially 10 business days and I have not heard and or received any type of refund that was promised to me in the response from CarShield on my complaint that was filed June 4th, 2020. I would also like to mention that I was under the impression it would take 3 to 5 business days to refund the first payment to my Visa debit card and then 10 business days to refund the rest of the payment to my mailing address by check. I haven't received either one refund from CarShield. What can I say, I am not surprised. I would like to point out that their app that I have downloaded still shows that I have a current contract with them and on the payment option with their third-party lender it shows that I have a current payment still due on the 21st of this month for $129. So either they have not updated their information with their app about canceling my contract with them, even though on the payment page and small writing it does say it will take 48 hours to update the info. None of my info has been updated or canceled and everything still looks current as if I were still going to be charged this month for a payment. I am hoping that is not the case because I will be very upset if they try to take another payment from me. I literally do not have the time of day to wait on the customer service phone for an hour to just get hung up on or disconnected to ask them to update their app either. That is just one big headache to deal with and wasted time as well. I'd rather deal with the Revdex.com because they are prompt and you actually get a real response and courteous customer service, thank you. So now I'm wondering really how long is it going to take for CarShield to give me my refund that they promised to get back to me within !0 days and if we want to really count ALL the days it’s been 14 but only 10 officially business days and no holidays so there should not be any delays unless they try to use an excuse like the Corona virus. I just wish CarShield would keep their word. Especially for people who are low income and I literally just had to come up with $1600 out of no where to fix my car that CarShield let me down big time with that. Now I’d just like my money back like we discussed and supposedly this issue was resolved. I should have guessed this would not get resolved like they said they would. Go figure! Please help me Revdex.com! All that being said, now that my huge car repair made a dent in my pocket after my PayDay tomorrow and my bills that are due I will literally be left with $35 to my name. I was counting on this CarShield REFUND for everyday survival. Not to be played around like this a big joke a game to them. I’m praying the refund shows up tomorrow in the bank so that I can at least put some food on the table this weekend. Shame on CarShield for lying and leading people to believe that they will recieve their refund in a timely manner by a certain day to be exact. Some people depend on this money to be refunded back to them especially during this Covid 19, sure is not a time to be late on a refund when some people are out of work right now. Well I guess I have said enough now about how I feel and I hope somebody gets the point here and figures this out.

CarShield Response • Jun 19, 2020

Again, we apologize for the slight delay. Thank you for your patience.Respectfully,Customer Relations

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: Let’s please be realistic and say 72 hours that I should receive refund because 48 hours would mean that it would be on a Sunday and I’m guessing nothing happens on a Sunday these days. I will be satisfied when I actually do receive this refund as promised. Also, my second concern was never mentioned. That being said, your CarShield App still shows that I am a current customer with my contract and on the payment option button with your third-party lender it still shows that my payment is current and that it is due on the June 21 for a payment to be taken out. Then it also shows in small print that the payment is updated every 48 hours, but this is not true because if that were true it would show that this would be canceled because my contract has been canceled so no payment would be due on the 21st. So you guys have not updated your app or your payment arrangements with your third-party lender because it is still showing that I’m current and my contract has not been canceled on your app. Can you please fix this so I can have some sort of peace of mind that this contract and payment has actually been cancelled. I will be fully satisfied when I truly receive my 2 refunds that are promised to me. Until then I’ll I can do is wait 3 more days and check my bank account to see if CarShield kept their word this time. To be continued. Thank you for the response.

Sincerely

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are being refunded the two payments made. Your initial payment of 129.92 has already been credited back to your Visa Card as of today, June 19th. Visa generally takes 3-5 business days to show the credit to your account. The other payment made will be mailed to your 1380 Elm Street, Apt A address. You should be receiving that in 7-10 business days.

Respectfully,

I will never deal with Carshield ever again in Life ..my car stop on me on may 21 and I called carshield . they told me I could take my car anywhere I want to, it just happened to be a dealership 6 block from where my car stop so I took it there. after leaving my car there I went to pick a rental. 30 mins later I get a call from the dealership telling me they don't take carshield , so I called carshield back and they said okay we'll pick it up from the dealership and take it to another shop that deals with carshield ..I said okay fine. I went to the new location waited for an hour and my car never shows up, I then call carshield back and was told my car was picked up and dropped off at the new location which it wasn't, keep in mind that the next day is Memorial day weekend. at this point, I don't know where my car was. I remembered I have on star so I activated it only to find out my car was still at the dealership. ( they towed the wrong car ) it's late now everything is closing. its Friday and because of the holiday weekend I now have to wait until Tuesday. Tuesday is here and I get a call from the dealership telling me my car is ready. the dealership tells me I gave the Authorization to fix my car but that was only before I knew they didn't take carshield. to make a long story short the dealership charged me 1,400 dollars and my car rental was $600 dollars...do you know how much carshield reimburse me? $279...everything was their fault, there claims department never knew anything about what was going on and because of the way things happened there was never a claim number now under the circumstance they reimbursed me the $279 although I spent 1,400 to get my car and $600 on the rental they think I should be happy because they gave me the 279 I'm far from happy. I didn't want to give them a star at all but it was a requirement to leave a review.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and look forward to working towards a resolution for you.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. The notes indicate you dropped your car off for an overheating issue. While the repair shop was in possession of your vehicle, they completed several maintenance items like a cooling system flush, oil change, a tie rod and the root of your original problem, a thermostat housing; none of which you claim you authorized the repair shop to do. There was a covered failure for the motor mount which was paid. You were also reimbursed for your rental in the amount of $275.00, which is above and beyond what was covered for the associated repair.
As you requested on June 4, 2020, your service contract has been cancelled.

CarShield did not cover a component required to fix the air conditioning in my Jeep. After paying into this for almost a year and seeing all the commercials about them I was very disappointed. Fortunately I have the money to make the repair which wasn’t cheap. I feel bad for others who buy into this warranty believing when their vehicle breaks down they are covered. Shame on you CarShield!!

CarShield Response • Jun 08, 2020

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Every vehicle service contract CarShield sells contains a detailed list of the components that are covered under the contract's terms. In review of the notes in your file, it seems your jeep had a freon leak from an air conditioning suction line. This is not a covered under your service contract terms. CarShield does, however, cover many other components in regards to the air conditioner.

Cant find a dealership that will deal with them because the never approve a claim, or not wanting to use OEM parts, trying to not want to pay full price for the repairs, talked two 4 dealerships today and the all said about the same thing, we be calling to cancel service tomorrow, waste of money and a waste of time, now I have a broken car that they won't cover and I pay for the top of the line service, top of the line *** if you ask me

I have read a lot of bad reviews on this site about Carshield and although I never filed any claims with them, I would like to report that when I politely asked to end my service they did one gentle attempt to keep my business and then agreed to an immediate service cancel. The rep was friendly and curteous.

CarShield Response • Jun 05, 2020

Thank you for the positive review. We are sad to lose you as a CarShield customer. Please feel free contact us should you ever be in the market for a vehicle service contract again.

CarShield makes it sound good on tv, but they are a rip off. In 2016, I bought the plan for $3000.00 for a 7 year coverage. On May 11, 2020, four years later, my car was totaled. So I called about a refund on the remaining time I left. I was told, due to payout they did on my car, there is no refund due. And they make it sound to good on tv, but every time you go to use it for a repair, all I ever heard was, "that's not covered". They will never hook me again, and hope other people complain about them too. There false advertising on tv. They don't do anything they say on tv. And if they do pay for a repair, they send out one of there mechanics to look at the problem, and he must approve the repair first. They should be put out of business.

CarShield Response • Jun 05, 2020

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. CarShield is here for you and we appreciate the opportunity to respond, clarify and resolve this matter.

We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the submitted repair claim history of your contract. There have been 2 claims paid, totaling $1724.74. One claim was paid in March of 2018 for a front suspension issue. The second claim was paid in March of 2020 for a brake mater cylinder and booster failure.

You called our office on May 13, 2020 and informed us that your vehicle had been in an accident and was totaled. You requested cancellation of your service contract as that time. We hope that you or your family were not injured in this accident.

As stated in your contract terms under the cancellation section; after the initial free look period, the cancellation refund will be calculated on a pro rata basis based on age of contract (purchased in June of 2016) and miles, less claims paid. Your prorated refund amount comes to $1322.03 minus claims paid in the amount of 1724.74.

This leaves no refund due.

We are glad to see that your service contract has been able to assist you with $1724.74 in covered repairs.

Again, we are very sorry to hear your vehicle was involved in an accident and hope you and your family are safe.

I am rejecting this response because: This is not right, and just because I had repairs done, and exceeds the refund amount, that should not be accounted against me.. That's why I purchased the coverage. I would never recommend this coverage to anyone ever. Shame on CarShield for ripping off people. Your company does not even deserve a one star rating from me. BIG RIP OFF OF MONEY!!!

I think Carshield is an excellent buy for an individual or a person who is going to keep their vehicle for a long period of time. I have a Mercedes-Benz so number one that's a fine automobile. It's a good policy to have if you're going to keep your vehicle for more that 5 years.
