About 1yr ago I purchased a carshield warranty from Carshield. Around the first week of May of this year I started having problems with my transmission. I took my truck to First Class Sales and services to have it checked. I informed the repair shop that I had warranty under Carshield. I gave them all the information needed to file a claim with Carshield. After doing a diagnostic on the transmission they then called Carshield and was on the phone for an hour and half before getting an answer. First Class proceeded to to tell the repasinitive the nature of the problem. According to the technian the rep. was being very unprofessional and telling the technician that they had to have a second opinion. This is where the problem starts.
If I'm paying for a warranty and I have a problem and proceed to take my vehicle to the repair shop. Why would they questioned an ASE certified professional of the diagnostic of problem.
From that point on myself or the repair shop could not get through to the claims department. After two weeks I ended up paying for the repair out of my pocket.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.According to American Auto Shield's claim notes, your claim was still pending as of May 21, 2020. American Auto Shield is still waiting for a vehicle diagnostic from your repair facility to continue with the claim and get you to an adjuster. I have forwarded this issue to American Auto Shield and will have them contact you shortly.

Prior to purchasing the warranty, I inquired about the language of the coverages of their contracts. Specifically about my vehicle being totally operated by Electicial and computerized components. The rep explained that my vehicle would be covered. He further stated that the language in the contract was generic. I took my vehicle to be serviced. I submitted a claim based on that what was found wrong with my vehicle which was declined
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and to clarify this matter.
We have contacted the administrator of your vehicle service contract on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. The failed components submitted for this claim, your wheel bearing and the electrical failure of your vehicle's valve body, are not listed as eligible for coverage in your contract terms. There are many covered components under your powertrain service contract; however, these two are not listed. While these components are not eligible for coverage and cannot be taken care of for you under your contract terms, we want to do what we can to resolve this matter for you. If you are not happy with your servivce contract, we will agree to refund you in full for the payments you have made. If you choose this option, your service contract will be cancelled and a refund will be issued. Please let us know if you would like to keep your service contract active for future covered repairs, or if you would like to cancel your coverage. We look forward to hearing back from you with how you would like to move forward.

I was with another warranty company and for some reason decided to switch to this company. The man I originally got the policy through was extremely nice! I decided to keep my other warranty because I didn't know that I only liked 1 payment and I would still be insured for 3 more years. I told the lady that I might consider coming back to them then. She was not at all co-operative! She kept lowering my bill and didn't want to give me a refund and it was the day after I purchased it. The other warranty company I had for 4 years on 1 vehicle and 1 year on the other vehicle was going to give me my money back with no hassle since I hadn't turned in any claims! Then today after a week when I was expecting a refund, the money was taken out of my bank account. I told her that she was being pushy and that my original company that was willing to fork out a lot more money than her was very nice about it and not pushy at all. I also told her that she was making me uncomfortable by being so pushy! She said that they didn't have any competition. I said yes ma'am you do. I was told to look on the Consumer Affairs website and I did. I told her that my company was ranked the same as hers! Could she just please give me my money back please? She acted like she processed the refund. Yet it came out of my bank today on saturday and it was tuesday of last week when I talked to her. So, this will be put on Revdex.com! I don't trust a company when they keep lowering your bill to a ridiculously low rate that you know isn't right and then tries every stall tactic in the book to not give you your money back after a day when I know I had at least 30 days!
Thank you bringing this to our attention.

I purchased an "new car warranty" from car shield Dec of 2017. I was supposed to have full coverage on my car. I have never made a claim. I maintain above recommended maintenance on this vehicle. I check Oil and tires almost weekly The last oil change on this vehicle was 2/28/20 @ 116, 086 miles. Which is only 3500 miles prior to my issue. On 5/10/20 the oil and tires were checked and all was good On 5/13/20 the oil pressure light came on. The local Volvo dealer was called. They said check oil and I made an appointment for 5/18 (soonest available) . OIL was very low. Later on 5/13 car was driven to *** a couple miles away--they checked oil and said was very low and added 3.5 quarts and said to put card board under to check for leaks. 5/14 no leaks, car driven few minutes and safety check of oil performed and very low again. Car was parked to await appt. 5/15 Volvo dealership has an opening and car driven 3 miles to service Dept. 5/18 *** service Dept calls American auto shield, Carshield's administrator and tells them car is 3.5 quarts low and needs a new engine for approx $12,000. American Auto shield denies claim saying damage by oil loss not covered. *** explains the regular service given the vehicle and car was not being driven around low on oil. Owner went beyond the norm to make sure vehicle was in proper operating condition. Did not drive it with low oil. Never has made a claim in over two years has had insurance. Was told by CarShield this was exactly the type situation that would be covered. Owner and *** Motors spent in excess of five hours on hold trying to resolve this issue. Owner was told by numerous Carshield employees during numerous phone calls since 5/18 this would be covered. I was told by Carshield customer service finally that someone in management would straighten this out and call me within 12-24 hours --they guaranteed. That was Tuesday 5/19--still waiting for a call. I feel like I was totally scammed and wish I had checked the Revdex.com website before purchasing.
Thank you for bringing this customer’s concerns to our attention and for the opportunity to respond. We have contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. They stated the below. This claim was opened by the customer's chosen repair facility (the "RF") when it called American Auto Shield (“AAS”), the service contract administrator, on May 18, 2020. The customer reported to the RF that the check engine light was illuminated and he had to add oil a couple of times. He reported that 3 quarts of oil were added on or about May 12, 2020, and then oil had to be added again a couple of days later. The RF diagnosed that the rings failed. The tech at the RF advised the AAS claims adjuster that the variable valve timing can pop during an adjustment and stated there was wear due to oil starvation plausibly from the vehicle being run low on oil. The adjuster, after reading through the notes, including the statement that the vehicle was topped off with 3.5 quarts of oil (the vehicle holds 5.5 liters, so this indicates it was almost 60% low on its oil capacity), determined there was possibly additional damage to the engine internals due to the run low condition. The VSC does not have coverage for a failure caused by a lack of proper amounts of lubricants nor if the vehicle is further damaged when a known problem exists but the vehicle is continued to be driven. The customer is referred to Sections D.1.b. and D.1.p., as well as Section F.1.AAS tried to explain to the customer that the oil consumption issue was not due to the customer's lack of oil changes on the vehicle but a case of not monitoring the oil level of the engine in the vehicle. This was explained to the customer and to the RF several times. The customer and the RF were told there was nothing that could overturn this determination. Despite the customer's assertions, at no time did AAS ever state to the customer that his claim would be covered. In fact, AAS listened to a call between the customer and a customer service representative of the seller of the VSC; in that call, the customer reported that the RF gave AAS the wrong information when it called to start the claim and complained that no one would listen to his history of maintenance of the vehicle. He stated all he received were denials. The seller's customer service representative told the customer she would put in a request for a manager or supervisor of the seller to contact the customer regarding his concerns.Because AAS is unable to assist the customer with this repair, as an accommodation to the customer AAS contacted CarShield, the marketer of the VSC and requested a full refund of the payments he has made. The customer should receive that refund within the next 10 days.We trust the foregoing adequately addresses the issues raised in the complaint. Please do not hesitate to contact American Auto Shield's legal department at [email protected] if you have any further questions. They would be happy to assist you.Respectfully,

On Wednesday May 20th I dropped my 2014 Jeep Wrangler off at White Plains Chrysler Jeep for repairs due to a ticking in the engine. I have had Carshield extended warranty since purchasing it last year. Wednesday and Thursday myself and the Dealer tried all day to contact them about the repairs. Each time we were disconnected while on hold. This happen Wednesday and Thursday. Approximately 3:45pm Inwas able to get someone on the line and Inthen did a three way call with myself, carshield, and the Mechanic from White Plains Jeep named ***. We were told by the service representative at Carshield that *** needed to send 12 months of service records and pictures of the dropped engine that needed the repairs. He stold us that once that was done he would be able to bypass an adjuster and call both *** and myself Friday regarding authorization. He never called either of us. *** finally got them on the phone today Saturday May 23rd after holding on for hours only to be disconnected several times. He finally got someone on the phone late this afternoon around 3pm.or so who told him Carshield needed more pictures. Pictures *** could have easily given them on Thursday. I am a Disabled Veteran and I need my vehicle. This company is giving us the run around. White Plains Jeep has the parts and could have had me in my jeep today. Carshield is making this impossible by long wait times, constant disconnecting on their end, and Service Reps who don't call back, and continue to ask for something else so they can simply delay the claim. This has tonstoo.I have paid them faithfully and White Plains Jeep wants to get me back on the road. Carshield is making thi impossible.

Worth nothing, when we spoke to your repair facility on May 23, 2020 and requested additional pictures to process your claim, the repair facility told American Auto Shield they would call back on Tuesday, May 26th. Upon receipt of the requested documentation your repair was authorized. We trust we adequately resolved this issue. Please feel free to call us with any additional questions or concerns ***.

Car Shield response of 05/05/20 really tells me all I need to know about Car Shield. In that response Car Shield advises a potential customer that they cannot provide this customer with a true copy of the polcy/contract until the customer has purchased said policy. Wow. What a concept.
Buying insurance blind with no ideas what contract covers!! No surprise there are so many red flags and complaints with Car Shield.
You have brought up some good points. However, our sales representatives would direct you to our website (CarShield.com), under the "Protection Plans" tab for a view of all service contracts we offer, before your purchase.
You can read over the exact components covered under each service contract offered, here.
The specific service contract your vehicle would qualify for, would be determined by your vehicle's specific year, make, model and mileage. One of our sales representatives would be able to let you know the most comprehensive plan your vehicle qualifies for.
We also give each customer a 30 day free look period. If there is anything you do not like about your service contract terms,
you will be issued a full refund within that 30 days, should you decide to cancel your coverage.
We hope this adequately addresses your concerns. Thank you for reaching out.

I have had a carshield warranty for 3yrs with is completely paid off and I’ve never had a chance to use it. Carshield either out right declined repairs or dragged out the time so extensively that it was always cheaper for me to just pay for the repairs myself. So it’s safe to say that this is a worthless warranty that I’ve purchased.
t but instead of listening to the shop on what to buy, Carshield’s incompetent staff continually sent the wrong parts to the shop. He it is Friday and the shop only got one of the parts and Carshield has done ZERO to facilitate it further.
I took my truck in for repairs on 5/11/2020 and Carshield did a to the shop I’ve been using happily for five years. That whole first week Carshield did nothing but drop the ball and did ZERO to help the shop get the parts. I had to call myself several times just to get an adjuster to call the shop. As the second week came around it was more of the b
And with everything being closed on Monday I’m willing to bet money that Carshield dicks around, doesn’t do their job my truck is going to be in the shop for another week or more.
This is a horrible warranty company. I had better results with a smaller warranty company when I first bought the truck. I assumed Carshield knew what they were doing. They obviously do not.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to look into this and get this matter resolved for you.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to check the status of this repair claim for you. They said that the parts they had ordered for your vehicle came into your repair facility and were found to be the incorrect parts. The provider of the parts had made an error and sent the wrong components.
Your service contract administrator has had an adjuster call your repair facility and authorized them to use their own parts. This will get this repair taken care of for you as quickly as possible and get you back on the road.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. We are always here to respond.

I am rejecting this response because:
It is irrelevant to the actual problem at hand with their business.
It's designed to take the money in but make receiving services so painstakingly impossible that you end up not using the service that you've paid for. I see it as impossible for me to get the $5000 value out of the plan I purchased before it expires in two years due to the sheer inconvenience of it all. My truck was in the shop for 3 weeks and had I not interceded, spent my own time (away from my own business) calling Carshield daily several times a day and traveling and calling the shop to coordinate getting the parts to the shop; I feel that those 3 weeks would have turned into months because no one a Carshield was knowledgeable nor cared enough about their job to get anything done.
Sincerely
Thank you for reaching out to us again. We appreciate your frustration. However, the provider of the parts that were ordered made a mistake that was uncontrollable by CarShield or your service contract administrator. This was corrected as quickly as possible by your service contract administrator authorizing your repair facility to use their own parts for the repair. Your repair was paid in the amount of $2079.87, to your repair facility, on May 27, 2020.
Your repair claim was submitted on May 13, 2020 and the repair was completed on May 27, 2020 and paid in the amount of $2079.87.

I wish I would have done my homework. I purchased these warranties in November for 3 vehicles. Everything was fine until the pandemic hit. I called to have my payments canceled with the notation that I would be in a better place come April. The rep told me that he would cancel my payments for March and that my next payment would be the April payment. So, now its April and I'm thinking ok I saved the money for the April payments to come out. They took $79 x3 out of my bank account on April 29th and again on April 30th. So, in total they took out $474 when it should have only been $237 for the April payments. I immediately called on April 30th and the rep stated because of duplicate payments she was escalating it to a manager, and someone would get back to me. I never heard anything back from them. I called back on 5/4/2020 and multiple reps kept hanging up. I finally got one and was told that it was nothing they could, and the original guy should have read a statement to you saying that we could not cancel payments. Her resolution was to lower the payments on all 3 warranties by $20 and went into this spill about how they would hate to see me go since I've had them since November and escalated it to another supervisor that was supposed to call me back. Again, I heard nothing from them but crickets. So, I just called again and cancelled all 3 warranties on May 4th. They have completing messed everything and I would never recommend them to anyone.

This company promises no cost to you r err pair Bill's paid. This is not true. No matter how many years you have paid their monthly premiums to protect your car from repair costs vfc when they happen. They start running you in circles to get approval for repairs and about 6 weeks or so later when repair shop won't wait any longer. Carshield then demands that you the customet, pay for the breakdown to find out what's wrong. I couldn't afford to pay those high repair costs is why I have been paying them $150 a month. This company should not be in business, they do nothing they promise.

I ordered Car shield about 4 months ago . When I was talking to the sale agent. That if my car broke down that they would cover the repairs if it was in our warranty plan. I was in a car accident and I called car shield the lady said that if I take it to the service department that they would pay for any repairs that was under the warranty. We took it to the shop . The engine is bad and the transmission is bad and the steering wheel something was also bad. So the engine and transmission was supposed to be covered. Nope . Because that would go over there cap off at $6200 . My car needs $18,000 worth of work . So we can not afford that kind of money. So today my husband calls them and ask if they are going to pay for the service they ordered on my car . No they will not pay for that because we didn't have any thing repaired. So now we are out of more money because of them ordering that test to be done . Please be careful.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We look forward to responding and resolving this matter for you

All my Online Friends. DONT BE RIPPED OFF BY “CARSHIELD”. CarShield took payments from me for Months when my vehicle broke down they said although one of the things that was broken was inside the engine it wasn’t covered. My starter went out because of a small piece inside of it. They said they refused to repair it. The dealer said only a mechanic would be able to understand their contract. That can’t count the number of people they’ve ripped off with their Lies. Don’t be tricked bey these crooks.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope to help in the resolution of this matter.

I been using carshield for along time with 2 cars. I sold one of the cars and just made the payment for coverage for the next month called to cancel coverage. I was still owed back for at least 25 days of pro rated payment. The company does not give your money back. I feel they are cheating the system and keeping people’s money for service they did not render. The company needs to change there policy if someone pays and does and does not use the service for that month a credit or refund should be granted.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to your complaint and resolve this matter for you.
We will be happy to refund the last payment made, back to your Visa Card ***. You should see that credit to your account within the next 3-5 business days.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond. We are always happy to assist you.

Would not give a quote until after I actually test drove the car which was 400 mi away from my home. I simply was shopping around for prices and their competitors were very happy to give them over the phone. For the life of me I cannot figure out why they refuse to do that unless I actually own the car or at least test drove it and inspected it in person. What's the difference?
The specialist kept saying if he did that for me then everyone would just call and get pricing. Well, yeah! Absolutely terrible customer service. Would never do business with them and would not recommend them at all.
Customer service specialist repeatedly kept saying, "Know what I mean? Know what I mean?" No, I don't know and I don't understand why he refused to give a price until I saw the vehicle in person.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
Our contract coverage terms and cost are determined by certain factors such as year, make, model and mileage. We also have certain discounts that can be made to an account based on when the car was purchased, how many miles were on it when purchased, etc. Our sales representative needs all that information to give you a correct quote on coverage. In an effort, to forego any misunderstanding later, we only give coverage option quotes to consumers who are in possession of the vehicle they are calling about.
Please go to our website to see examples of the vehicle service contracts we offer. Once you have purchased your vehicle, please feel free to call us for a quote on coverage.
We hope to hear from you soon and congratulations on the purchase of your new vehicle.
