I purchased CarShield Vehicle Protection Plan, that included per para B., 9., page 3 of 14 “FUEL SYSTEM: Fuel delivery pump, fuel injection pump, fuel injectors and metal fuel delivery lines”
Note the contract under FUEL SYSTEM does not exclude electrical components as contract does for these components:
para B., 2 “TRANMISSION: …Electronic components, regardless of location are not covered”
para B., 5. “TRANSFER UNIT (4x4): … Electronic components, regardless of location are not covered”
para B., 6. “DRIVE AXLE (Front & Rear): … Electronic components, regardless of location are not covered”
The reason I point out the above contract items is they exclude electrical component failures, and because my denial was based on FUEL SYSTEM pump fuel’s internal component (electrical sending unit) that failed. Because the internal electrical component of the fuel pump failed, and it is not excluded by the contract, the fuel pump replacement should be honored/covered by my purchased warranty.
Additionally, the corrective action (repair of the check engine light that caused me to take my vehicle in for repair) could only be fixed by the removal and replacement of the complete fuel pump.
6 May 2020: The repair facility *** contacted CarShelid’s contract administrator (American Auto Shield, Ltd *** and advised the repair had to be the replacement of the fuel pump because of an internal component failure. 6 May 2020: When I was notified of the denied claim, I also called CarShelid’s contract administrator and explained fuel pump failed because of an internal fuel pump component failure, CarShelid’s contract administrator reiterated claim was denied.
Because the only way to correct the “check engine” light failure notification on my vehicle was the replacement of the fuel pump, my warranty claim for fuel pump replacement needs to be covered by my CarShield Vehicle Protection

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
First, thank
you Revdex.com for being an available organization that us
customers can reach out to when a customer needs help in looking into business practices
of a supplier. In this case CarShield selling me a contact and not meeting
their contract obligation by not paying for the replacement of my vehicle’s
fuel pump. As described in my complaint submitted on 5/11/2020 against
CarShield (complaint ID). I’ve reviewed CarShields response to my Revdex.com complaint and do not agree with CarShield’s decision that my
fuel pump did not fail because it was a fuel sending unit that failed. The fuel
sending unit is part of the fuel pump. The failure of my vehicle’s check-engine-light
was repaired by replacement of the fuel pump. The vehicle repair facility could
only fix my vehicle by replacing the fuel pump. My invoice from the repair
facility has only one part listed for being removed and replaced that being the
fuel pump. The codes used by the repair facility lead them to the corrective
action of my vehicle’s repair, again the repair action was to order-remove-replace
the fuel pump. In my contract with CarShjeld the Fuel-System DOES NOT exclude
electrical sub components as the contract does exclude excluded electrical components
“…regardless of location…” for Transmission and Transfer Unit and Drive Axle. My
check-engine-light corrective action taken by the repair facility was the replacement
the fuel pump, it was the only item listed on the invoice. As such it is
obvious CarShields is not fulfilling their contract by paying of the fuel pump
replacement on my vehicle. I offer the following as resolution to my Revdex.com complaint against CarShield’s failure to meet their contract
obligation in paying for my vehicle’s repair:CarShield reconsider my contract claim and pay
for the repair of my vehicle’s fuel pump replacement. Cost per the repair
facility’s invoice is $678.75 (that I had to pay to get my vehicle from the
repair facility), minus my contract’s $100 deductible, CarShield reimburse me
$578.75.ORCarShield refund my total contract payments to CarShield
(from Dec 2019 thru May 2020) in the amount of $534.00ORArbitration: Where CarShield is not meeting its
contract obligation and I quote from Carshield initial e-mail to me; “Confirmation
of Coverage from CARSHIELDs, Thank you for purchasing coverage through
CarShield. CarShield makes sure that when unexpected repairs happen, you are
taken care of.” I had an unexpected repair on my vehicle (removal and replacement
of the fuel pump). Note: CarShield’s response to the Revdex.com
agrees the fuel pump is a covered part. The repair facility’s invoice identifies
the only part removed and replaced was the fuel pump, which in turn corrected
the unexpected repair need of my vehicle.

I am rejecting this response because: There are 3 options offered by CarShield and I want to make sure that there is not a misunderstanding of which option is acceptable.
I'm willing to accept this reasonable option that CarShield offered: QUOTE from CarShield "We would be willing to refund the payments you have made into
your service contract in a good faith effort to resolve your complaint."
My service contract payment's refund from Dec 2019 thru May 2020 of $534.00 would be, and is, an acceptable good faith offer to resolve my complaint.
I look forward to refund ($534.00) from CarShield to close this compliant, and appreciate the smooth process from the Revdex.com's efforts with CarShield, to bring about my customer complaint resolution/satisfaction.

I have been paying them for 2 years. I have a car that has blown a transmission and they never did anything. My second car has a blown transmission and they aren't doing anything about it also. They told my mechanic to take it apart to see what caused it is covered. This is not right.

I have as Audi a4 that I have been paying these people to give me an extended warrenty. Friday I call them and they tell me that they will be taking care of my water pump failure. Later that day I call my mechanic and they tell me that Car shield will not be covering the part replacement from the dealership. The want to put in the cheapest part they can find. When I was discussing the contract on the phone when I was negotiating the terms they said that they would use dealership parts. This is a no go. Im not going to pay for some cheep replacement for my car. They are not a warranty service they are a fraud.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. American Auto Shield, as the administrator of your contract has full authority and influence over repair claims, procedures and payments. I am rejecting this response because:
This company has decided to not replace my water pump with factory parts that have factory warranty further increasing the probability of part failure without proper warranty. I will accept no less than a factory part replacement/reimbursement and as I had to pay the remainder of the water pump part cost out of pocket while paying monthly and a deductible. I feel I have been scammed. In hopes to let the company know that thisshady business practice is not okay I will accept no less than the remainder of what I had to pay for a proper replacement dealership part.

I took my car to be worked on. Transmission, the car pulls to the right. They aren't going to cover any of it. Their television commercials lead you to believe they cover everything. I have had a contract with Carshield a little over a year. I have paid $100 each month. I cancelled the contract.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to respond. We don't see, listed in the claim notes, that a claim was submitted. Approximately three month ago, I experienced vehicle issues with my 2007 Chevrolet Suburban, which was brought to *** for service. After diagnosing the issue, I explained that my vehicle was under warranty with Car Shield Auto. In turn *** contacted and Car Shield, confirm I had a full coverage warranty. Therefore, they began service on it. Upon diagnosis, *** mechanic diagnosed the issue an engine cylinder lifter (#6), which proved to be covered by my warranty, with the insurance company. But, when the mechanic fixed it, and test drove my vehicle, it was still an issue. So when this was conveyed to Carshield, they requested a full breakdown of the engine, which I was told that I was required to pay for. Although on social security benefits and having explained this to both the auto mechanic and Car Shield, I was still required to pay $750 for this service, out of pocket.
Once this service was completed, it was then discovered that the same issue affecting the initial lifter (#6), was now affecting another cylinder lifter (#7). It was conveyed to the rep at Car Shield of this issue. Furthermore, it was explained that instead of fixing another cylinder lifter for another $1900, purchasing a motor at $2000-3500 would be most cost efficient.
So when the issue was presented to Car Shield regarding this, Car Shield stated they would need to have yet another breakdown of the engine, which would cost me additional funding I do not have. And as explained by the *** mechanic, with documents submitted to Car Shield, another breakdown would not be required, as the issue is the same for both lifters. After having been notified and presented with the full scope of the issue, Car Shield has refused to return the calls of both *** and myself. We've been contacting Car Shield since March, and it is now May 11, 2020.
This has been extremely exhausting and exasperating. I have been without a vehicle for the past three months. I am on a fixed income and have been dealing with a lot. Not only have I been without a vehicle for such time, but the impact of COVID-19, both financially and emotionally has been devastating. With update of the opening of the state, without my vehicle, I will be unable to make medical appointments and visit my mother and other family members, checking on their health. To have paid for insurance coverage and assured by Car Shield the matter will be handled and to only receive poor coverage my vehicle, only to be presented with poor customer service, depleted of finances, and a vehicle not serviced.
We appreciate your bringing this to our attention and appreciate the opportunity to respond. We contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf and they told us thathis claim was inspected and the repairs were performed by the repair facility. After reassembly, your vehicle began exhibiting the same issue on another cylinder. In all likelihood the repairs were not fully completed. American Auto Shield, your contract administrator, had already authorized and paid $1,747 to your repair facility. They are now requesting a new engine. You let your contract administrator know that you did not wish to authorize disassembly of the engine to verify a failure. American Auto Shield could participate on additional repairs, if another fault is found. However, the amount paid would potentially be deducted from any additional repairs. This is clearly an incorrect or incomplete repair by the selected repair facility. Please feel free to contact American Auto Shield if you have any further questions about this repair claim. They can be reached at 800-531-1925.Respectfully,Customer RelationsCarShield is here to address your concerns. CarShield is suing the Revdex.com. This company keeps requesting that the repair shop call them to discuss the issues going on with the engine, however this company does not communicate with my repair shop and continues to day after day stall this claim and waste the time of a busy mechanic shop. My repair shop is now telling me if they do not get repair approvals within a certain time frame they will have to start charging storage fees because this has been going on since February.
Thank you for reaching out to us again regarding this matter. We have contacted your claims department and requested that they get in touch with you within the next 24 hours to discuss this repair claim and let you know what needs to be done to move the claim forward.

Had an air bag sensor go bad. They denied the repair because the contact was corroded. When the new one was installed by the dealer it work fine. Corrosion had nothing to do with it. Out of pock charge was $750.00. I have had problems in the past with this company and they tried to blame the issue on me. Last cylinder was not getting oil and was burnt.Needed motor replaced They told dealer I was not changing oil according to Buick's recommendation. I had all documentation for all oil changes and change oil before recommendation. With that they were forced to make repair.

I am rejecting this response because:
1) Obviously for you to file a law suite against the Revdex.com your company must have thousands of complaints for your lack of honoring your extended vehicle warranties.
2) I did not purchase my extended warranty from ***. I purchased it from Car shield your name is on the contract.
3) The air bag harness had corrosion and the mechanic cleaned it off and replaced the air bag sensor. At this point the problem was solved. In the past I have had nothing but problems when trying to get something repaired on this vehicle. There has not been one time that I didn't have to fight *** to get a repair. On one repair my car was at the dealer over 25 days and my request for a loaner car was denied even though the repair was finally approved. I bought this and another policy for my Ford F-150 pickup in good faith. I did expect that repairs would be be made to my vehicle when needed. For both vehicles I spent over $6000.00 in premiums. I would appreciate a little good faith concerning this claim. As stated in my complaint the repair cost me $725.00 out of pocket. Anything you can do to reduce my financial burden would be appreciated.
Sincerely

I can see why you have so many complaints against you. Your commercials are very misleading. If anyone asks me concerning buying your protect I will advise them of the problems I have had in the past and now. I paid Carshield for this policy not the administrator. Your salesperson made did not advise me of any exemption and was only eager to get my money!

Took out Carshield ins on an my 2004 1 ton diesel ford pick up. On April 27th it broke down on April 28th had it towed to a garage, ( ***)
Truck still hasn't been approved to be fixed, Monday an inspector was out seen what the problem was, what part needs to be replaced, between 10:30am-11:00am. I called May 4th could not get anyone to answer the phone at Carshield, put on hold told to push the key and they would call back, never got a call back. Then called number on caller I D from them no one at the number knew anything. ( a private number) Carshiled said some were working from home but this person didn't know anything
May 5th , 24 hours later called talked to a woman at carshieild was told I have to wait 48hrs, told her we have plans for the MN opener fishing this weekend (5/9) need my truck fixed, or a rental told don't qualify for a rental until the truck is being worked on or apart the truck is apart it had to be to find out what part was bad!! The garage *** also tried contacting them letting the phone ring for 22 minutes no one answered!! (May 5th) then called other numbers spent 2 1/2 hours trying to contact them. Never could get anyone at Carshiled, *** needs the stall space, I talked to someone again at Carshiled he said it could take 48 hrs or 6-7 days before they will get to the claim this is crazy, was told 24-48 hrs, He said he didn't know about the 48 hrs, A morpar part was taken out of the truck and that is what I want put back in. Carshiled said because of covid 19 they are behind, that's bull with cell phones lap tops this can be done. its just a phone call to *** to tell them to repair it,
I asked to speak to a Supervisor and was just put off wouldn't let me talk to anyone else.
I was told original parts would be used before I signed up for this service, car rental was included. not one person there told me the same thing. now over a week and truck has not been worked on need truck today or rental TRUCK (5/8) have a boat to pull. the truck has been in shop since 4/28.
If carshield spent as much time trying to help customers instead of coaching them on how not take care of issues, there wouldnt be a problem. All I expect is the truck repaired with the same brand part that came out of the truck, they already had someone out there looking at it. They know what part is bad just call and give the go ahead to fix it! I had to send them a copy from AAA about the towing which I did Monday the 4th. We have done what we needed to and quickly. Carsheild just gives us the run around. they take your premium out on time but cant ok the repair in a timely matter!! They have to many people that have to approve after they send someone out to look at which is subcontracted out, according to what I was told by carshield

I am rejecting this response because: The part was supposed to be at the shop yesterday its not there today, When I finally can get someone to answer the phone I get conflicting responses!!! Carshield said it was approved to be fixed Fri (5/8) no one from Carshield called to tell me that. It takes for ever to get in touch with anyone there. My truck was brought to *** on 4/28 on 5/4 there was someone out there to verify the part was bad, that person tried to tell *** hey had to use a cheap part, then found out from Carshield that that's not his job, his only job is to verify the part is bad. So still have no truck who knows when the part will get there. Totally upset with the whole thing and yet carshield took out the monthly fee, they have no problem doing that on time. After all this I think they need to not charge us the 100.00 deductible!!!
Car shield took this rejecting response as not to fix the truck, now they wont even talk to David, I didn’t say not to fix it just very poor service no communication. We were not satisfied with all of this, in between talking to *** and this it’s just a big mess. No one at Car shield will talk to my husband
My husband talked to *** at Car shield it was worked out that if they didn’t send the motor craft part ( rebuilt) that we would pay the difference from the other part to the motor craft part, because *** didnt know what part was even being sent. If I would have known by rejecting the response it menat not to fix I wouldn’t have responded.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. They called me and then immediately called the garage to order a new part ordered so my truck could be fixed right away, and waived the deductible.

I purchased my plan a few months ago when I purchased my car after seeing numerous commercials for car shield. About 2 weeks ago my car wouldn't move and I took it to my local Transmission/Car Repair shop. They stated they work with Car shield claims all the time, so I figured it would be a smooth situation. The owner of the Transmission shop said I needed a new FlyWheel and the splines have gone bad. They told him that the claim was denied because the spline isn't an internally lubricated part, he stated it was and explained why. After being disconnected 5 times trying to get a claims adjuster on the phone the one I spoke to stated they wouldn't send someone out to verify what the owner of the Transmission shop was stating because they know they're right and they aren't going to send someone. The shop owner explained he's been in business for 40 years he knows the difference between a internal part and an external part, but send someone out if need be. They refused. It states in the advertisement that the engine and Transmission are covered when they really aren't, which is deceptive and illegal. I am considered Essential Personal, so I need my vehicle to get back and forth to work during this Worldwide pandemic. I am in the process of taking my complaint to the Attorney General if Carshield won't honor their contract.

I am rejecting this response because: the Transmission shop owner explained to rhe claims adjuster that they are incorrect and he puts his reputation of 40 years behind the fact that it is indeed am internally lubricated part and suggested an investigator come to look as well. Although, American Car Shield is the Administrator of the contract Carshield contracts out to Auto Car Shield. There by should have the final say over this dispute.

As we stated previously, we had contacted *** service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, on his behalf to inquire about the repair claim. American Auto Shield stated that the splined interface is between the transmission and AWD differential and is not listed as covered in his powertrain contract terms. This is a dry interface and not an internally lubricated part of your engine or transmission. American Auto Shield said they spoke with *** on May 7, 2020 and explained their claim decision per his contract terms. This is not a component or failure listed in your contract terms as eligible for coverage. We would be willing to refund the money you have paid into your contract in a good faith effort to resolve this matter. However, the insurance backers will not approve payment for a failure that is not listed as covered. We feel we have addressed this complaint and fully explained the reason the claim was denied by his contract administrator. We have also offered a full refund of the monies paid into the contrac,t in a good faith effort to resolve this matter, if *** chooses to cancel his coverage. We have listed the direct contact number to *** service contract administrator, ***, if he has any further dispute regarding their claim adjudication.
The company will not stop contacting. I have asked on several occasion that they stop and the interaction immediately turns combative and disrespectful. I feel as if we are being harassed

I am rejecting this response because: The company is not being honest in regards to me contacting them on several occasions asking them to please stop sending communication to us trying for force services on us that we do not need.
it is also factual when I said the representatives I spoke to on two (2) separate occasions were both rude. I told them to please stop contacting us but they continue contacting us anyway. The harassment from this company must stop.
Sincerely
We appreciate your concerns. However, we do record all of our incoming and outgoing calls and we have no incoming or outgoing calls made to or from the number you have provided in this complaint.
Many times a consumer is receiving phone calls from one of the many other vehicle service contract marketing companies out there, then receives one of our mailed advertisements and assumes the calls were coming from our company as well. That is not the case. You have not been receiving calls from our company.

We forwarded your last notes to your administrator on your behalf. American Auto Shield stated that as of 9 am on May 13, 2020, your repair facility had been contacted and you were updated on the status of your repair claim.
The shop stated that they had pushed your vehicle outside and refused to let us send an inspector at this time. They stated they will get it in the shop and then advise American Auto Shield so they can request the inspection needed to move forward with your claim.
American Auto Shield stated that they also have documented in their call system that both numbers for the shop were attempted Tuesday for two outbound calls.
American Auto Shield is now waiting for your repair facility to contact them once they have your vehicle back in the shop, so they can send out the independent inspector and move forward with the claim process.

I have a warranty through this company. I took my car to the dealership on 4/3/20 and it needs a new engine. The dealership submitted the claim. Carshield is only willing to pay to replace the timing chain. They told me they feel that I drove the car too much with the check engine light on. That is not true. As soon as the check engine light cam eon, I dropped it off at the dealership. According to the warranty, they are supposed to cover the engine repair. I have been without my car for over 30 days.

We have contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf, to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. American Auto Shield (AAS) is your service contract administrator and has full authority over repair claim procedures and decisions.
AAS stated that they spoke with you and inquired as to how long your vehicle had been running poorly. You stated that the check engine light would come on periodically and stay on for 5 days or so and then go off. It had been periodically coming on and going off for an estimated 3 weeks, you stated, before you drove it to the repair facility.
AAS stated that they had authorized a payment of $2975.69 for the repair of your timing chain failure. The continued operation of your vehicle for an estimated 3 weeks with the engine light coming on and off would make the further damage ineligible for coverage under your contract terms.
Please contact your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, if you have any addition questions or concerns regarding this repair. They can be reached at 800-531-1925.

We appreciate your bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to respond and help you in the resolution of this matter.
We contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield, to request the status of your repair claim. American Auto Shield stated that they have found there to be a large mileage discrepancy from mileage you reported at the time you purchased your service contract on March 4, 2020 (88,040), and the mileage shown in January of 2020 (101,128) 2 months prior. The mileage show on your vehicle on March 31, 2020, when towed to the repair facility, was 102,380.
You purchased your service contract on March 4, 2020 and had your vehicle towed into the repair facility on March 31, 2020 with a locked up engine and dead battery. An inspection of your vehicle also showed that there is no oil showing on the dip stick, the rotors are very rusted and the vehicle has a flat spare tire on the right front side.
On April 20, 2020, American Auto Shield requested your bill of sale from the purchase of your vehicle so they can determine the correct mileage and if your vehicle is eligible for coverage. American Auto Shield called you on May 6, 2020, after not hearing back from you, and left you a message asking if you will be able to send in the bill of sale so they can move forward with your open claim.
As American Auto Shield is your contract administrator and has full authority over repair claim procedures; please contact them directly *** to provide them with the documents they need to move forward with your repair claim. I am rejecting this response because:like I said the last time my flat tires doesn't have anything to do with anything because if that was the case I would of take my tire off and take it to the tire shop and you can't get a flat by your car sitting in a driveway and if they want to see the tire it's in the truck or in the back seat and you could see it wasn't sitting they are just excuse why not to fixed my car and I called them and no one got back to me
Sincerely
Thank you for the additional information. Your flat tire is not the reason your repair claim did not move forward, however. Your contract administrator requested your bill of sale to verify the mileage, as the mileage you gave at the time of purchase and mileage given at the repair facility 22 days later showed a 13,000 mile difference. You could not provide the bill of sale requested, showing mileage listed, to verify the large mileage increase. Your vehicle was towed into the repair facility with a locked up engine and no oil showing on the dipstick, 22 days into your coverage. This indicated your vehicle's engine failure occurred within your 20 day and 500 mile waiting period. In a good faith effort to resolve your complaint, we will agree to refund the one payment you have made, along with the 75.00 tow fee that was paid for you on March 29, 2020. Your contract has cancelled for non payment as of May 18, 2020. I signed up with CarShield on 4/162020 for the silver warranty auto repair insurance..I was told based on my vehicle I was approved for that policy which is unlimited mileage..before you can make a claim to have vehicle repaired you have to wait 20 days and have driven 500 miles..after that I assumed I was eligible for repair..I went to dealer in my area and dropped it off thinking car shield is reputable and was excited to get my car done without hassle..it took the dealer all day to reach claims dept because carshield claims there phones were down..after reaching them finally carshield had amnesia..telling the dealer I haven’t met the grace period which based on my paperwork I did.. then carshield tells me that my truck was alreadg messed up and there not repairing anything and immediately gave me a refund of my initial $137.00 payment I made when I started the policy..I was xtremely skeptical about joining this company because I had a feeling it was nonsense and nothing would get fixed..apparently this isn’t carshields first time breaching there own policies and promises..this was a very bad n deceptive experience..my best advice is stay away from carshield it’s scammish..before u sign up with any company like this do extensive research n believe what others go thru to help you with you decision. I’m shocked that carshield is allowed to operate and blatantly rip and breach there own contract that they created..beware of this company.

Often times a consumer is receiving phone calls from one or more of the many vehicle service contract marketing companies out there, then receives a mailer from CarShield and assumes the phone calls were coming from CarShield as well. That is not the case. CarShield markets by sending mailed advertisements and through television and radio advertisements. CarShield does NOT cold call consumers. Would leave no stars if possible. Purchased a 10 year old car with very low miles so looked into this - constant phone calls for days with no message left - finally picked up - got sent to someone else who wanted me to just give him my credit card number with no contract being provided. I told him I needed to speak to my husband before signing - gosh he was kind enough to tell me he'd hold while I call him and while he's holding I can give him my credit card to start the process. Again asked for a copy of a contract - crickets. Can't remember the last time I ran into such a scam. I told him I don't like the pressure tactics - he acted insulted and of course explained how he was there to help me - again asked for a contract - he just insisted on me giving him a credit or debit card number. I hung up on him and have blocked the number all the calls were coming from.

A sample of the variety of service contracts we offer can be found on our website, carshield.com. Since there are several factors that determine the type of service contract your vehicle will qualify for, we can not finalized your contract and email it to you until the sales transaction has been completed. The service contract each consumer's vehicle qualifies for is based on the year, make and mileage specific to that vehicle. CarShield does offer a 30day, money back guarantee if you are unhappy with your service contract after purchase for any reason.
Worth noting, we do not "cold call" consumers. The phone calls you were receiving were most likely from one of the many other marketers out there who do. We only call consumers who have requested information via our website or who have previously contacted us regarding the purchase of a vehicle service contract.
If you would like to provide us with your phone number, we would be happy to check our phone records to see if we have ever spoken with you by phone, and remove you from our call list going forward.
