I bought an auto service policy from Carshield in Dec 2019 for a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta. My niece took the car to the dealership on 5/6/20 and the service tech determined that the rear power door lock actuator needed to be replaced. The technician from Volkswagen and my niece called to get preauthorization and no one answered the phone or called back. The policy states no repairs are covered unless preauthorization is obtained. We called in advance of her visit to the facility on 4/30 and 5/1 and left a telephone number for a call back and haven't heard from anyone to this day. I called again on 5/4 and got a representative that assured me when the service facility called they would be put through to an adjuster immediately. On 5/6, the service tech called and my niece called and no one answered the phone. It may not be a major repair but I wouldn't want to depend on Carshield if I did have a major repair. It's Thursday, May 7 and no one has returned my niece's call from Wednesday.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I requested a call back on Thursday and Friday that I never got.

Why wasn’t my call returned when the outtage was restored? I was able to reach someone Monday

who never mentioned any outtage. I advised the rep that I would be taking the car in on Wednesday

and the rep said if the service center called they would be put through to an adjuster immediately. On

Wednesday, the Volkswagen tech called and I called and no one answered the phone. I called the next

day to cancel and miraculously, I could be put right through to make a claim. The contract states I need

preauthorization. The fact that your rep can “put me right through” doesn’t help when I’m at the dealership

trying to get my car fixed. You’re wasting your money suing the Revdex.com. It’s not their fault your service sucks

and you don’t deliver what you promise. The Revdex.com did not influence my complaint at all.

Sincerely

Not worth the expense. Purchased the insurance at $107 a month. Had it for 7 months when I had an issue with my driver side door. $500. Had the dealer contacted CarShield. Not covered. Canceled my policy. I figured if they won't cover a $500 repair then anything more expensive was out of the question.

Where do I start...CarShield had an advertisement that stated if you suggest a friend or family member you both will receive a 25 dollar amazon gift card. Well that’s exactly what me and my friend did however the representative messed up and added me onto his account which wasn’t what we asked for. I’m paying with my own credit card and they used his name when processing my credit card as if his name is on the card I contacted them several times to get this fix and each time they said they would fix it and now nothing has been fixed and we never received our gift cards

Purchased a warranty bumper to bumper from this company. When speaking with the representative I specifically asked if my car broke and was in need of repair and I took it to an ASE certified mechanic my cost would just be the $100 deductible. She stated Yes! a month and a half later my car broke down. I have now paid out of pocket almost $1000 to the automotive place because of all the tests that they are requiring. With each test complete, they don't like the results so they would order another one. Ultimately, the last request was for the automotive place to tear my engine completely down. Cost $3000 They would not replace my engine nor pay the bill for the tests that they requested to be done.

American Auto Shield stated that they are covering the suspension related failures. Your vehicle also has an oil consumption problem that is not covered under your vehicle service contract terms.

However there is a technical service bulletin through Chevrolet, that addresses this issue and should be fixed by your dealer under this bulletin. This bulletin is for a valve cover and fuel management system update to resolve oil consumption issues. Please talk to your dealer about taking care of this repair for you.

Misleading about their the insurance coverage. Had asked if the modifications I had done to my car would effect the coverage and was told no. Why else would I have purchased it knowing it wouldn’t be covered. Almost impossible to reach anyone at customer service. Waited almost 3 weeks for an adjuster to come out the repair facility where my car was. Claim was denied and they never notified the repair facilities. I found out because I received an email that my poiicy was canceled. Claim was denied because of modifications done to the vehicle that had no direct effect in the mechanical failure of the vehicle. Very unhappy with how this was handled

Your account was cancelled by the administrator because of modifications that were done to your vehicle. Please see Section D, Exclusions, paragraph D, that states vehicles with modifications are not eligible for coverage.
We reviewed the sales call on March 21, 2020 and you did not mention the modifications to your vehicle during the call.
Per your service contract administrator, your contract has been cancelled and you have been refunded in full.

Fall of 2019, I realized that my extended warranty had expired. I was doing a 2 hour each way daily commute once a week to the office of one my business clients. I was concerned that the additional mileage would cause some issues with my 2011 Lexus RX350 that had over 75,000 miles on it. I didn't have time to research but responded to an ad from Carshield that I received in the mail. Set up was easy. I was assured it was monthly cost and I could cancel at any time. In early 2020, when I had more time, I started looking to see if Carshield was my best option. My husband encouraged me to go with another warranty service based on reviews of what was covered, etc. I called Carshield on several occasions and was strongly encouraged to stay with Carshield and to really compare the two warranties before making any decisions. On one of these calls, my monthly fee was reduced from $109 to $69 per month. What is up with the inconsistent rate structure? I was so annoyed after these calls that some how I ended up keeping a service that I did not want. Today, I called customer service and explained that I've been through the "blah, blah, blah" before and just wanted to cancel the warranty. After 10 minutes of wrangling with the rep who told me that I didn't care about my car as I was going with a lesser service, "supposedly" my warranty has been cancelled. I never had to use them for their car repairs but can say that after dealing with the sales/customer service staff that are rude and EXTREMELY pushy, I could only imagine how the repair division might be if one actually had to use the service! ***, 05/06/20

Customer Response • May 13, 2020

The customer notes are very polite but that's not how the calls necessarily went with the person on the phone. The notes reference two calls. There was a call prior to the two listed where I confirmed the cancellation policy. Of course the earlier rep stressed that CarShield was better than any other service available. The 2nd rep when I called to actually cancel discussed how Car Shield was better then she gave the price reduction and said to compare the products. I really wanted to cancel at that time but felt I was pressed into staying. That rep was polite. However, the most recent rep that I spoke to took the cake. She said "I know the other service you are going with and we are better". She went on to say things in a rude tone like "so you don't care about your car". She was increasingly rude to me as I kept asking to be cancelled and my temper was growing short as I did not want to keep asking to be cancelled. I finally asked to speak to her supervisor if she was unable to cancel. She said that she couldn't pass to her supervisor as that person did not handle these calls. I even said I would contest the credit card charge if it hit again. She finally stated that she cancelled it. I understand the need to try to keep a customer but if the customer is adamant, then let it go. Telling me "I don't care about my car" because I don't want your product is just not good customer service.

Carshield sent my 73 year old mother a letter advising her that her 2001 Lexus Rx300 car warranty was about to expire. They said that she needed to call immediately. Now my mother had given the car to my daughter for her 16th birthday, but she kept renewing the policy to take car of her granddaughter while she was in college. Having planned this gift to my daughter for many years, she was wise enough to add my name on the policy. So at the request of my mother, I called Carshield to renew the policy. When I called them all they really wanted to do was sell me another policy...instead of renewing my old one. You will understand why later in my comments.

When I told them the approximate mileage of my car, the agent explained that my old warranty had expired due to mileage. This was news to me since it was my understanding was that the old policy had a term limit. As it turned out, the old policy had both a term and mileage limit...just a little detail the agent left out when she sold the policy to my mother years ago.

The agent then explained that was no problem...she would just renew the policy. At first I was very reluctant...but the agent was persistent in pointing out it was just a matter of time before my car would need major repairs...and Carshield would be there to rescue me. Knowing my car had a lot miles on it, I felt sure I was on borrowed time...it was likely to need major repairs soon...so I renewed the policy...I thought.

The agent asked me the make, model and mileage on the car and I explained that I was not in the car and that I was not sure of the exact mileage. She said, an approximate mileage would be fine. So I told her the car had approximately 217,000 miles on it. She wrote down, 217022 just to make it more legit I guess.

She asked me if the car had any current problems...to which I replied, "the car has 217,000 miles on it" I am quite sure the car has problems. The agent clarified her question "any current problems that you know of? To which I replied..."none that I know of at the moment".

Her questions made me suspicious so I started asking her questions that might reveal the "catch". I asked her about "grace periods" when the policy would become effective...just anything I could think of at the moment that might reveal the "catch". The agent explained there was a 20 day grace period...but left out and 500 miles. So I gave the agent my credit car information and went on about my business.

38 eight days later the car developed a leaky water pump that needed to be replaced. It was going to cost approximately $1000 dollars to replace it...so I called Carshield.

Now it was a completely different story. Instead of talking me into buying a policy...now they were telling me why they wouldn't pay.

The agent explained that I had only driven the car 396 miles since sense I last renewed the policy...and the policy states that I must drive the car 500 miles. I protested and explained that it has been over a month since I renewed the policy and the car has been driven very little because Covid- 19 and my daughter was taking classes from home instead of driving to school.

It is clear to me now....when Carshield sent my mother a urgent letter warning her that her policy was about to expire...they never had any intentions of renewing the policy...their goal was to sell her a new policy. If they had renewed the old policy, there would have been no "grace period" for which they could legally hide behind.

So bottom line...my mother spent thousands of dollars on a car warranty that was never used...only to be screwed by a intentionally hidden technicality. Or more commonly none as a "bad faith" contract.

As a consumer, I expect businesses to do businesses in good faith. And it infuriates me when my 73 year old mother gets scammed by a business who's whole business model is centered deception and other "bad faith" practices.

I own a Mercedes-Benz E350. I purchased CarShield Gold Premium Plan($125.00/Month) on November 27, 2019. I took my car in for regular maintenance service on March 26, 2020. I received a call from the Mercedes-Benz dealership with $3,959.57 needed work. This work ranged from Oil Leak, Coolant Leak, Axle Boot Torn, etc... The dealership called CarShield to see if any of the work was covered. CarShield said nothing was covered under my plan. I told CarShield I have the best plan offered by them. I paid the total cost out of my pocket. I DROPPED CarShield that evening. CarShield is a TOTAL RIPOF!

Your claim was denied because the front axle boot is not listed as a covered component in your service contract terms. Your vehicle also had failure of the shifter bushings and a leaking oil cooler. These components are not listed for coverage in your contract terms.
You requested cancellation of your service contract on March 20,2020. We will agree to refund the 4 payments made as a gesture of goodwill and in a good faith effort to resolve this matter.

A few weeks ago I took my dodge caravan to the dodge dealership. I was told it had a crack cylinder head. CarShield came out and took pics. But then wanted to see more of the engine so they asked for my permission to do so. Long story short I was told they would not cover it because the damage wasn’t due to a lubricant part etc... I’m so upset because if they knew that they could’ve told the dealership that at first . Now I have to pay 2500 out of pocket . I have had this policy for 6 months all for nothing . These people are a SCAM . I’m reaching out to my credit card company to report them as well.

We purchased a policy with this company at the first part of April. We purchased the platinum policy. We had to have 21 days on the policy and 500 miles before we could put the car in the shop. The car went into the shop yesterday. Issues with the battery, the car was towed. The shop told me today Carshield wouldn't cover it. We had met all the qualifications including number of days holding the policy and the amount of miles. They are saying that its because its not OVER 500 miles that they won't cover it. It needed to be 501 miles. We paid $100 up front.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to, and resolve this matter.

You purchased your service contract on April 2, 2020. During the purchase, your sales representative let you know that there was a 20 day and 500 mile waiting period, just to make sure everything was running okay. He also let you know that no failures pre-existing the effective date of your contract or that occurred within your waiting period would be eligible for coverage.

This failure occurred within your waiting period and is not eligible for coverage. If you are not happy with your service contract for any reason, we would be happy to refund you in full. At this time, your contract is still active.

Upon reading your email I am bringing this to car shield's attention. We purchased our service contract on
April 2/2020 our car was put in Don
Brown Chevrolet service dept. On April 29th 2020. on April 30th, *** the service writer for Don Brown Chevrolet called car shield
and you all told him that not enough time had expired to apply warranty
(20 days). From the date of April 2/2020 to the date of April 30th 2020 is a total of 28 days 8 day's over car shield waiting period on April 2nd. the mileage was 79,130 and on April 29th the mileage was 79,630. 79,630-79,130

day waiting period and 500 miles and since car shield wants to resolve
this matter this should be eligible for coverage. Respectfully, Emanuel

I purchased a extended warranty for my car from Car Shield last year( June 2019).I never have issues with my car but still I want to have the warranty for any case.Since then two times I have a small issue with my car and both times I call them and in both times my request for coverage was denied with explanation that is not covered. In the contract says that engine is covered and in both cases was engine part.So they literally are fraudulent and I don't want to deal with them.I will cancel the purchase but who will pay me back almost $1500 I pay to them literally for nothing.

CARSHIELD is paying $1,920.79.But that's not the total bill which is $3,687.00 - $3,900.00.
MY DAUGHTER IS HAVING TO PAY $1712.00,NOT OF HER AND MY POCKET.
Because the claims adjuster, what to said that the car was been driven for awhile an this problem already Existed. The mechanic told my daughter there is no way she would have know this problem already Existed. My daughter bought the car from a private person, she not a mechanic.
SHE IS A HEALTH CARE PROVIDER.
The car was driving great with no problem.
NO LIGHT ON to indicate anything was wrong.
The mechanic told my daughter if she don't cover the other part of payment, she would have this same problem again and her car would make a noise. She having been calling CARSHIELD trying to get a better understanding of why CARSHIELD won't honor what they Advertise on tv, that you are covered from day 1 for car repairs.
Today is May 5 2020 ,My daughter car have been in the shop since April 23,2020.
She was told CARSHIELD would only cover 4 day for a rental. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks. My daughter have not had her car,
My daughter have been dealing with this and to have to pay $1,712.00 out of pocket and have to find a way to work which means me traveling From Florida to Ga. I have a Extended warranty plan on my car and I have ever, ever had a problem like this for coverage or rental.
I have a used car.

They up sell but when you go for service...nothing is covered. Major transmission service. Not even replacing trans coolee lines that are leaking

They told me that it does not have fluid going through it so they will not fix it well the starter does not have fluid and they fixed it.
They said engine and transmission. So they did not honor their commercial and they did not honor their contract with me.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I do still think they should change their commercial to tell people that they do not fix the whole engine. Which was my point in the first place.

Sincerely

I've been having issues with my backup camera on my Ford Flex. I figured since Carshield advertises on all the things they cover, even wiper blade motors and motors for your power windows, that for sure they would cover the backup camera... Wrong! It was going to cost me $840 through the Ford Dealer to get it replaced. The best the Carshield rep. would say is that we may be able to get you the camera at dealer's pricing. Most likely only a couple hundred dollars off. Still would be over $600. Here I paid all that money in for their coverage, and they don't cover it. I will not go through Carshield ever again. I would warn anyone else as well.

My issue is that all the advertising I've heard over the years of how many things are covered I feel that I was mislead thinking with all the items covered for a premium coverage that a backup camera would be covered. But my expectations with what you cover has been a eye opener now, so lesson learned with ever going with a extended warranty again. A very expensive lesson.
