The sales people made it sound like no worries, we will cover items so you are worry free. I do understand that some simple/cheap items wouldn't be covered. My vehicle needs work on head gaskets, they told my mechanic that they possibly might cover after the vehicle is torn apart. I'm retired and don't have money to gamble like that. I completely trust my mechanic and he says this is typical of these auto warranty companies. Very sad for people paying money to think they are covered.

I contacted CarShield for a quote. In what is a textbook example of fraud, they will not provide a contract, with description of the coverage, until you pay. This is an obvious violation of contract law. I cannot believe the television networks allow these thieves to advertise.

Paid Car Shield $79.00 a month for 5 months when the A/C evaporator went out on my truck, contacted Car Shield they told me to take it to a Dealer. I went to two Dealers they said they did not trust Car Shield to pay the bill, so I would have to pay for the repairs up front out of my pocket and hope Car Shield would reimbursed.
One of the Dealers said they had a car there for over a year and Car Shield has not paid. I dropped Car Shield so now at 70 years old who just had my 5th Diabetic comma cant afford to fix my A/C have to ride around in this heat, I am a Veteran of the US Army and US Marine Corps and retired Government Contract worker.

I bought my contract on 4/7/2020 and the contract says the waiting period was 20 days,On 4/27/2020 I took my car in for repairs and was told that the 20 days was not up ,I said that it was 20 days ,they said no! I then said I would then go in on 4/21/2020 .They then said they would not pay for the repairs because I asked for the repairs on th 20th day. I qouted the contrct that waiting period was 20 days not 21.They said that I did not wait 20 full days, which is not in the contract.

When you purchased your service contract, the representative you spoke with let you know about the 20 day and 500 mile waiting period. He also let you know that no failure pre-existing the effective date of your service contract or that occurs within your waiting period would be eligible for coverage.
We have noted that you have requested cancellation of your service contract and that you have already been refunded in full the 1 payment you made, back to your Visa Card, on 4/28/2020.

I saw a TV commercial for CarShield and so I took out a policy for my 2016 Jeep Patriot, and they have been taking $114.00 out of my retirement check each month. My engine light came on and I had an issue with my transmission, which is supposed to be covered, and CarShield declined the claim. They left me high and dry with this problem. This is a $4,900 repair and the reason I took out this policy. This is not right and they will not tell me anything or respond to me.

We have contacted your service contract administrator, Interstate National Dealer Services (INDS) to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. INDS stated that they did pay for a control arm repair in August of 2019 in the amount of 327.99.
Your most recent claim, submitted in March of 2020, was denied because this was not a mechanical failure. Your repair facility stated that some type of impact damage/physical damage, under your vehicle cut a wire to a transmission shift solenoid. There was physical damage to the wiring harness. Impact or physical damage is excluded from coverage under your contract terms.
Please contact your service contract administrator if you have any additional questions or dispute regarding INDS's claim denial. INDS is your service contract administrator and has full authority over repair claim decisions. As shown in your contract, they can be reached ***.

Due to the Covid crisis and due to reasons and due to job insecurity reasons I decided to enroll in the service. I purchased my car in November 2019 and took it up my repair shop for a tune up. I was told at the time that I had low transmission fluid which I paid to increase the fluid level. I was given no additional information regarding the status of my transmission. Upon hearing about this company during the covid crisis I signed up and paid the membership fee. My mechanic upon finishing a claim regarding my compressor told me my transmission is bad and I would need to get it repaired. I took it to the transmission mechanic and he stated he works with this company once a week. I was called a few hours ago stating that the history of services has information about a transmission fluid being low in November and due to this I would not have the claim approved. The rep then told my mechanic that “what I wanted to do won’t work and they won’t approve me and I knew the transmission was malfunctioning and tried to get this membership so they could fix it and what I am trying to do won’t work” this rep does not know a thing about me, I am an essential health care worker and the reason I decided to sign up with this company was due to the representative that spoke with me for an hour and told me that this company is reputable and advocates for their clients. As I told them and recorded a call that my mechanic did not tell me anything was wrong with my transmission nor did he give me a service report regarding any damages to my transmission I did not have the knowledge of anything being malfunctioned beside the transmission fluid being low. The rep today that spoke with my transmission mechanic was slandering against my character by making assumptions regarding my reasoning for purchasing a membership. Not only was it unprofessional it was extremely immature and irresponsible. This covid pandemic has affected me greatly and as an essential healthcare worker I travel 50 miles one way to work. I was told that I should file a complaint regarding this behavior.
In addition, during the sales call, CarShield told me everything would be covered and that they did not even need to look at the car before selling me the coverage. American Auto Shield is denying my claim because they say I deceived them by not revealing a prior condition to my car. That's false. It was in the shop back in November and I was told they topped off the fluid. I was never informed that there was a problem with my transmission. But a code was entered into their system at that time which is now making it appear that there was a serious problem and AAS is hanging their hat on that. Again, this is inaccurate and is in direct contrast with what CarShield told me previously. I want CarShield to honor their word and explain to AAS that they need to cover my repair.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. However, we have checked our phone records and CarShield has never contacted the phone number provided in the complaint.

I purchase a warranty and was told it was the best warranty. That it was bumper to bumper and all I would have to do was take my vehicle to a dealership of my choose. When my vehicle needed repair I took it to the dealership I usually take it for regular maintenance and was told Car Shield would cover the repair. All repairs were electrical and was told they would cover. They wanted to send the parts for my vehicle instead of the parts from the dealership. Never at one time was I told they would try to use a part not provided by dealership. The dealership only use certified parts for work they provided.

I am rejecting this response because:Car Shield and AAS denied repairs my vehicle needed that was suppose to be covered under my Diamond Elite contract. They only was willing to pay for repair if the dealership would allow them to use a part they purchase which the dealer only uses GM parts. When I purchase the contact I never was told they have the right to purchase parts to be used on repairs for my vehicle. They advertise all you have to do is take it to a dealer of your choice and we will handle the rest. So I took it to the dealership that I take my car to get serviced.I got the warranty on good faith that they was going to repair my vehicle when it was time for it to be serviced.I had to pay out of pocket because they wouldn’t honor the warranty that was sold to me.
Sincerely
Carshield denied my auto warranty because of rims and tires that were on my vehicle at the time of purchase. My claim was for the A/C Unit???? What does tires and rims have to do with my Air Conditioning.

Carshield has poor customer service. Every time I call, either I’m being hung up on or their representatives are being unhelpful. They towed my car and has not fixed it nor even looked at it in order to keep the process moving; they’ve had my car going on two weeks. An agent named Corey is very unprofessional and becomes rude when I ask questions about the lack of progress. I have made several attempts and is being rejected. When I ask for a manager, either they’re out on other calls or they can’t be reached. I understand how busy they must be, but every time I call or my spouse calls there isn’t anybody in management that can come to the phone. Whilst carshield isn’t fixing my car nor having someone out there to inspect the car in order to fix, I am not being covered nor reimbursed for renting a car. I am a nurse so this definitely prevents me from doing the work I so desperately need esp. at a time like this. I rented my own car for the first 9 days which cost me $500 and then I had to return it because I couldn’t afford it no longer. When they towed my car from Joliet to crest hill, a representative told me that I am also responsible for the tow payment. It’s unfortunate when a consumer feel like their car has been taken hostage; there hasn’t been any information on the details of the dealings with my car. I have called and complained so much that carshield gave me another number to call just to find out the given number was disconnected.

I am rejecting this response because:
Where as carshield has finally agreed to the repairs my car has been in the shop since 4/15/2020 as as of 5/2/2020 it remains in the shop. Carshield insist on supplying the repair shop with the transmission and it has taken over a week and the repair shop still doesn’t have the part. I rented a car after my car had been in the shop for 2 days but was told by carshield that regardless of the fact that the dealership which is were I took my car said that the repair was necessary (and as you see now it is) they(carshield) would not pay for the rental until they agreed to cover the repairs and that the repairs would take over 4 hours. So I was out of pocket for a rental that according to their commercial they would cover. Now that carshield has agreed to the repair the repair shop(which by the way was not my choice. I took my car to the dealership which was suppose to be my decision but was told by carshield that they would not pay the dealership to do the work and I had to move my car to a shop of their choice) I am praying they cover the rental. But again they will only cover up to $160.

Where as I understand stand that another company is handling my claim I pay carshield and that’s who I think I should deal with. You(carshield) has a contract with a third party and therefore I think it is your responsibility to be in contact with who you have contracted out to. I am still waiting on my vehicle to be repaired and you(carshield) still continue to take your monthly payment. When I call you not even customer service is able to help me. I’ve talked American Autoshield at least 10 times and all I get is a run around. They ordered the part, they don’t know where the part is, all we can do is wait is what I keep hearing. Well I think I’ve been more than patient. My car will have been in the shop a month as of 5/15/2020 and I think that is ridiculous! Now you want to say it’s not carshield problem. Well I’m sorry but it surely is. I didn’t hire the third you did! I’m sorry but your service is terrible and your answers are not satisfactory. I would advice anyone against getting Carshield

I purchased the contract on March 17 was told that I would be covered after 20 days. At 37 days my air conditioner acted up so I called them to see how the process works. They went over my plan and told me to take ot into a repair shop of my choice. Took my car in the following day to the dealer and got a call from the dealer that it was not covered due to not meeting the milage requirement. I have made 2 payments to car shield. I was 7 days out of the 30 days to cancel with refund and 3 days away from getting my car eligible. When I called in on the 21st not at any point was I told that I was not covered or their could be an issue. Now I have spent $160 in a plan that I was mis lead about but now I have a digonistic bill and my car is still not fixed.

I got a warranty with this company. I paid $89/ month for it. I took my Ford Thunderbird to the dealership and I needed a new computer. It was supposed to be covered. The dealership contacted Carshield and they wouldn't cooperate. They wouldn't deny the claim but they wouldn't fix it. They kept claiming they weren't receiving what they requested which is not true. The dealership sent them the information. I never got the repair done. I was in a bad accident and the repairs would cost more than the worth of the car. I no longer have the vehicle. I cancelled the warranty because they were still taking payments and they wouldn't help me.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and the opportunity to respond. We have contacted your service contract administrator regarding the repair claim you have referenced. American Auto Shield (AAS), your contract administrator, has full authority over repair claim procedures and approvals, and is the obligated party under your contract terms.
AAS stated that there was a claim presented in July of 2019 for AC Compressor failure. Your repair facility requested replacement with new AC kit. AAS spoke with your repair facility and let them know that they needed labor time total and compressor part number. Your repair facility said they would call AAS back with labor cost estimate and time available to set up inspection of your vehicle. Your repair facility never called AAS back to set up a time for the inspector to come out to see your vehicle, nor did they give the labor and part numbers requested.
We spoke with you on July 30, 2019 and you stated your repair facility told you your claim had been denied. We let you know that your claim had not been denied, rather was waiting on parts numbers and labor estimates from your repair facility. You stated you would fax in the repair estimate so AAS could proceed with the claim. We let you know that we were happy to assist you with the repair claim since your repair facility had not called AAS back with the estimates.
We will be happy to refund you payments due to the fact that your repair facility was not willing to provide the proper part number and labor estimates requested to move forward with the repair claim process. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance to you in the future.

For well over a month, I was trying to cancel my policy due to losing my job last month because of the ongoing virus crisis we are facing, and am facing financial hardships. I don't know how many representatives I spoke to who did not want to listen, and only wanted to keep me paying every month despite my unemployment status.
Today, I finally spoke with someone who was straight and to the point. I was told by the representative I would have coverage untill May 15th with no payment as a courtesy. I then received a call about 30 minutes later saying that I'd need to pay for the courtesy coverage.
On top of that, I asked about receiving a refund as I never used the coverage and was only covered for three months. Since I am without income, I thought this reimbursement would be an act of good faith from a company that claims they care about their customers.
I was told there was no refunds whatsoever, even though I've seen on the Revdex.com page this company offering refunds to people who cancelled.
The company does not care about anything besides making a dollar. The miscommunication and the lack of concert for customers wanting to cancel, regardless of the situation, is a disgrace.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to help you resolve this matter.
We see that you contacted our office on April 23, 2020 and requested cancellation. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded the 3 payments you have made.

I SIGNED A WARRANTY CONTRACT WITH CARSHILD AFTER THE PURCHASE OF MY VEHICULE. IN THE CONTRACT IT SAYS THAT THE ENGINE THE TRANSMISSION.... ARE FULLY COVERED. MY CAR BROKE DOWN AND I CONTACT THEM RIGHT AFTER I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE REPAIR SERVICE SAID THAT I NEED A NEW ENGINE. AFTER CARSHILD EXPERT CHECKED THE ISSUE THEY SAID THEY WILL ONLY COVER THE BROKEN PART AND NOT THE WHOLE ENGINE.
WHEN I SIGNED THE CONTRACT IT WAS FOR A FULL COVERAGE OF THE VEHICULE AND NOT JUST A PART OF THE VEHICULE. IF THE ENGINE BROKE AND SHOULD REPLACE THE WHOLE THING AND NOT JUST A PART OF THE ENGINE.

I am rejecting this response because:i read the section M you're talking about .and by any mean i'm under this case.the repair cost is 13000$...
between my monthly payment to you and the tear down you ask for,it's not even what you 're giving me.
I got the result of the tear down and it never said there was continuous operation after the failure....
a piece of metal runing in the engine causing no noise or no change in the engine or the driving is not a continuous use after knowing the failure.
if I got a warranty it's for this situation....and you doing your best to ripp me off
Sincerely

I had purchased a warranty for my car from Carshield after the salesman assured me that I would not need any previous paperwork for services done to the car. After several months of paying the monthly fee, a belt snapped and damaged the motor to a point where I would more than likely need a new engine or $2k-$3k for repairs. After trying to file a claim with Carshield, I was informed that I would need all sorts of paperwork proving that I had certain work done at certain intervals. I couldn't find what they needed and could not fix the car. I immediately cancelled my warranty on 03/13/2020 for which they declined to give me a confirmation number, The following month on 04/04/2020 they tried to bill me again. I talked to *** at Carshield on 04/06/2020 who assured me he would cancel my warranty and provide a refund. However, they are now sending me letters, text messages, emails, and phone calls trying to get money from me. Their actions were reported to my bank aligned with the credit card as a payment dispute.
Your sales representative does let you know to keep your maintenance receipts, as they may be needed during claims, to show that proper maintenance has been preformed on your vehicle.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded. Your initial payment will be refunded to your card and the remaining payments will be refunded by check and mailed to the address provided.

I have a 2001 Olds Aurora that had approx. 123,000 miles when I became a CarShield member. I was told that I was a Gold Member that had me warranted for 999,999 miles with a powertrain warranty.
A few months after faithfully making monthly payments, my car died in the middle of a dark street about 9:30pm with my fiancee. I called CarShield for roadside service. I was told that they only paid $75.00 for the towing, which only paid for the hookup and would take about 2 hours IF they could find towing near my location. I waited for 20 minutes before calling ***. It took me 20 minutes with *** and there was no charge.
After trying to find a shop that would accept CarShield (which you use ***), I was given a shop they recommended who said it was my headgasket, but they only did brakes and tuneups. I had to pay for that diagnosis.
I called CarShield about the incident and was referred by them to another shop. Again, I was told that it was my headgasket, and again the company did not do the work. I was informed that the motor I had would have to be replaced because of the type of motor it was. I had to also had to pay for that diagnosis also.
I went to a Cadillac dealer to whom I was told that had the special tools required to change the motor. But the shop manager told me he had work at the dealership for over 35 years and he had dealt with them before. I was told I had to pay for the teardown of the motor first ($350), then CarShield would then send people to look @ the inside of the motor. If they approve of the work, the work would probably be paid for by them. If not, they would leave the motor torn down and it would be my responsibility to pay to have it put it back together. He also stated that he had not seen any of those companies pay for those type of repairs.
I called CarShield of what the Cadillac dealership told me. I was told that it was true and if I needed a motor, it would be a used motor that would cost no more than $2000. As for a rental, they would only pay for one day; even if took longer. All of these remarks were, "IF's". I ended up cancelling because I could not afford to pay for coverage that "ACTORS" speak so highly of and find out different. As long as your vehicle is running fine, you will not know actually what happens. That was the case with me.

r MPF- *** Claim # *** On March 05, 2020 my 2005 Nissan Xterra was taken in to the closest dealership which was Buckeye Nissan in Hilliard, Ohio .
Originally I thought my starter or altenator had failed later to find out it was engine failure. At first because my contract does not cover these electrical parts I did not contact Car Shield ( aka) American Auto Sheild. Once I contacted Customer Service they imediately took claim and service advisor called also from Nissan dealership. Claim was started and according to dealership they requested information about vehicle condition, oil condition , external component conditions etc. As days turned into weeks (14 days) the dealership advisor had called me and instructed me that the warranty adjuster was comming out to take pictures however the motor needed to be dismantled. I gave authorization as Carsheild had basically gave them information about replacement parts , had dealership locate used engine , labor etc. Two weeks ito claim I had been in touch with Warranty company because I was without vehicle ( no rental coverage) . I authorized the tear down on engine before adjuster came to Dealership which was final step in process. Adjuster halts all production and states my vehicle is in a waiting period. the claim was handled for two weeks backwards I was told that they didnt notice this till the authorization process however claim was pretty much complete. Due to Covid 19 I was told things were chaotic but i'm stuck with a $ 800.00 labor bill for a vehicle that will not be fixed and honestly as a paying consumer if my engine was bad I did not need $ 700.00 worth of additional breakdown to take pictures. if company will not pay for engine replacement at least pay for mistake on sending out a adjuster, to authorize engine replacement. Called several customer services reps recieved very nonchallant response no concern at all and told me they will not pay for anything.

This company contacted me in regarding an Extended warranty agreement ..ensuring me that they cover all mechanical failure in relations to any power train issues...I ask them were there any exceptions ...which they claim to be none ....then as I signed up I notice they deduct payment from my account however they would never send me a contract so I could visually see my coverage... long story short I recently over a month ago pulled up to the gas station to get gas at a quick trip about 20)feet away across the street from *** dealership and upon leaving I just happen to started to hear a tapping noise...so I pulled into the dealership and notified my warranty company ....all I have gotten is lies told to me by this company and passing the blame on to me for the failure... Claiming not to pay for the entire service due to continuing driving which is a lie ,I had to pay for my own inspection and tear down inspection of the vehicle of over $800... car shield & American auto shield refuse to cover nothing more than one lifter repair and not my cam shaft ...which *** the dealership service manager state my #4 lifter collapse and cause damage to my cam shaft and both has to be replaced and repaired determine ...to be around $1479.00 for lifter job and $3642.00 for my cam shaft job...in addition I tried working with them including purchasing the cam from the dealer but they shill refuse to honor all labor cost. cam u please help me my birthday is next month and I cant even get my emission or tags because car is in peaces and they wont honor my claim # ***.. please feel free to contact me further. Also I still haven't seen a warrant coverage agreement they claim sent I have never seen.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and help you in the resolution of this matter.
We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield (AAS), to obtain information on repair claim you have referenced. AAS has full authority over repair claim procedures, approvals and payments and they stated the below...
This claim was opened by the customer's chosen repair facility (the "RF") when it called American Auto Shield (“AAS”) on March 9, 2020. As part of the claim adjudication process there are standard questions that are asked of the RF. The specific question asked by the claim adjuster was “Any modifications, commercial use or collision damage?” and the answer provided by the technician at the RF was “Not that I can see.” Had the question been answered truthfully (35” tires are a clear modification visible from a long distance), the claim would have been denied at that time without any further cost to the customer. The customer had complained that the fourth and fifth gear were not shifting. The RF found diagnostic trouble codes ("DTC") with respect to the pressure control solenoid and incorrect ratio gear 5, and also reported the transmission would go into limp mode when the RF tried to shift from fourth to fifth gear. The RF performed a line pressure test, and those readings were within specifications. The next step was for the customer to authorize a tear down to cause of failure.
The transmission was torn down to the cause of failure, and an inspection by an independent, third-party inspection service was performed on April 17, 2020, as AAS's request. The inspector found several modifications. The front and rear suspension had an estimated 4" lift, and the vehicle had 35” over-sized tires and wheels and an aftermarket air filter and intake. The customer had not purchased a modification surcharge, and the claim was denied on March 21, 2020, due to the modifications. The customer is referred to Section D.2.d of the Vehicle Service Contract (the "VSC").The claim was reviewed by the Claims Director for AAS, and he confirmed the denial. The vehicle had a significant front and rear suspension lift, over-sized tires and wheels, and an engine modification that included cold air intake. The customer purchased the vehicle as a pre-owned vehicle. While the customer may not have had the modifications installed and may not have been aware of the modifications, the VSC still did not have coverage pursuant to Section D.2.d. because the customer did not purchase a modification surcharge.
AAS requested the service contract be void due to modifications pursuant to Section O.3. of the VSC. The vehicle service contract has been canceled as of April 23, 2020, and the customer has been refunded in full.We trust the foregoing adequately addresses the issues raised in the complaint. Please do not hesitate to contact American Auto Shield at *** if you have any questions.
