Paid Carshield over 6 months on time even after they took an extra payment that took me 2 months to get back. The turbo has gone out in my vehicle and it clearly states that its covered in the contract but they wont honor it because they say it's the wastegate, which is a part of the turbo. They want me to just buy a aftermarket wastegate (whatever that is) and put it on but the *** (import shop) and BMW say it's the turbo Period...they make you think that your paying for a service that will be there when you really need but all along they have some many little clauses that will keep you from getting anything, I would have been better putting that money in a jar and saving for my own " just in case in breaks " reserve..and to top it all off they still want me to pay them every month even though they know my car is down and they wont cover it ..wow
We have contacted your service contract administrator, on your behalf, to obtain information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention.
American Auto Shield (AAS) stated that the wastegate, as you mentioned, was the failed component and is not listed in your contract terms as eligible for coverage. AAS noted that BMW issued a warranty extension for this component because it was a known issue they were having with this vehicle model .
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and we will agree to refund the 3 payments you have made in a good faith effort to resolve this matter for you.

Company will not refund prepaid warranty per their refund policy
Per several reps, last being ***, I am due a refund of $987.07 because I prepaid the entire warranty amount 2/2018, but sold the vehicle in 11/2019.
I mailed the cancellation request by certified mail Dec 2019 and it was received by CarShield 1/4/2020.
I was told that the account was canceled and the check was sent 1/20/2020, and then again 2/20/2020.
The last rep, ***, stated that ***, referral #***, was responsible for distributing checks.
However, I do not have a contract with ***... so CarShield is responsible for, "Stealing", $987.07. This is THEFT, because they cancelled the account for which I have no benefit... but did not return the monies I paid.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your refund of 987.07 is on it's way to you. It has been mailed an you should be receiving it shortly.

I paid $79.00 monthly like clock work; but when I needed help I was told by a Car Shield representative my need was covered. My husband and I were both online with the rep. We asked here to double check and she came back with "I said it was covered. Just take the car to the dealership for the repair". A month or so later he dropped the car at the dealership and shortly after was told car completed but repair was not covered. When calling back to Car Shield we were told the rep was new "sorry". Thanks Car Shield
Your contract administrator shows your AC discharge hose leaking. Replacement of the leaking hose is not listed as covered under you contract terms.
I had a warranty with the company. My car had stopped. They told me to take it to the shop. I took it to Pep Boys. I then took it to the dealership. The dealership told the warranty company that I was a little under for the oil I needed. Carshield asked for a copy of what the dealership diagnosed. I sent them the information. They said they were waiting and they would talk to the dealer. They talked to the dealer from Kia, and that the dealer was waiting to hear back from Carshield. I asked Carshield if I can have a refund and they transferred me to the Division Dept. A voicemail picked up and I left my information and no one has called me back.
Your claim was in process with your contract administrator. They had requested a service invoice to move forward with your claim. You chose to cancel your contract rather than move forward with the repair claim.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and your payment will be refunded.

I *** purchased the silver package with Car Shield for my a 2010 Lincoln MKZ. There came a time in January of 2020 the car began having some issues and was taken to *** located ***. *** assigned Technician *** and he began corresponding with the adjusters at American Shield on or about January 14, 2020 stating the transmission was slipping. Few days later they have listed other problems with the vehicle which isn't consistent with what was initially stated to American Shield. Fast forward, it has been three and half months and the car is still at ***. My son *** and I have been in contact with ***, Car Shield and American Shield giving all different stories. American Shield stated they will only approve "mounts" for the transmission due to the sludge in the transmission they will not replace the transmission. We said okay, just put the car back together three weeks ago. *** at *** stated they cannot put the car back together because American Shield told them to take it apart. I spoke with American Shield again and they said they can't tell them to put it back together. I should have asked for teardown and put back together or something. I was never told this was needed, this has put me without a car for approximately three and a half months. I have to rent a car, without a date or time the car will be put back together. I am seeking the car be put back together, car rental covered per contract within 72 hours.
We appreciate the opportunity to help you in the resolution of your complaint.
We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield (AAS), on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention.

I am rejecting this response because:I was told I should have asked for tear down and put back together. The shop is refusing to put the car back together due to how AA advised them to break it down. That wasn't caused for. Somebody's responsible for putting the car back together. That is per the adjuster at AA that advised me of this.

I was charged $137.80 to my credit card on 3-27-2020. I sold my car later that day without even realizing that was the day they took out the payment. I called in to cancel the service. They won't pro-rate or refund that payment. They canceled my contract because I don't have the car anymore but I'm still being charged for a whole month without being able to use the service. That's absolutely terrible. I've never been charged for something and denied a refund when I literally cannot use the service for the entire 30 days that they charged me for.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We show that you have already been refunded in full the two payments made. Your refund for the initial payment you made was credited back to your Mastercard *** on April 6, 2020. Your refund for the first monthly payment was mailed to the address you provided to us on April 10, 2016.
You have been refunded in full.

When there is a problem they want you to talk to ***, when *** is the problem. Car Shield has no problem taking your money every month and they refuse to do anything to get a claim satisfied. Their customer service is the worst that I have ever seen.
Your service contract administrator has paid 966.96 in repair claims for you. In September of 2019 a repair was paid for an air-conditioning repair in the amount of 563.12. On March 26, 2020 you were paid directly, by your contract administrator, in the amount of $403.84 for motor mount replacement. This amount was after your $50 deductible was subtracted.
Tried to file a warranty issue on several oil leaks in my engine, they said it does not cover the issue as it is a gasket issue instead of a " lubricated" part of the engine
If the engine and gasket protected parts of the engine isn't protected, the engine loses oil and allows for a serious engine failure and costs more to the car sheild company, it's wrong, so I spent $1,400.00 in gasket repair, so now if engine failed they must repair engine and all components.
I pay for such break downs to prevent catastrophic engine failure
We contacted your service contract administrator to get information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention. American Auto Shield stated that your claim was denied due to the failed seals and gaskets not being listed as covered components in your contract terms.
American Auto Shield stated that they spoke with you on April 1, 2020 and explained their denial and pointed out that the seals and gaskets that were leaking were excluded from coverage.
Please contact American Auto Shield directly if you have any further questions about this claim. They can be reached ***

I am rejecting this response because: I feel although I did repair gasket leaks, I'm dumbfounded to believe you would rather a person not report gaskets and let engine fail.
I had repairs made, I am dumbfounded that car sheild would not want to repair a lubricated component, and not having to replace an engine, I had repairs done to repair oil leaks at my cost.
Guess I'm honest and had repairs unlike some who would rather leave an engine leak and car sheild hit with a horrible bill for catastrophic engine failure.
I will keep my service active even though I was not impressed with first repair.

I cancel my plan and they were going to send back my money. They sented a credit to my account but the next thing they took it right back out of my account. Now I am out of 79.99 witch sucks. Please don’t use this company they are a ripoff. Thanks I asked them many times for my money and they tell me to check with my bank witch I did. They still owe me that money. Please don’t fall for this company they are just scammers.

Your initial payment was deducted on March 25, 2020 and was credited back to your account on March 26, 2020. You have been refunded in full.
I signed up for CarShield and was told that I qualified for the Gold w/ Labor & Turbo coverage.I signed up for CarShield on 2/25/2020 I was asked what type of title I had and I advised Seller #*** that it was a blue title. She acknowledged that was great and asked several other questions like VIN, Color, mileage and so on. Then we started negotiating on the price and agreed to the $85.86. I had already ran a vehicle history on VINCheckPro where it showed absolutely nothing and this is how I answered my questions. On 3/31/2020 I took my car in to KIA Roundtree dealership to get the A/C checked due to blowing hot. The claim was continuously was denied. I was told by representative Eric that I needed to send the title to prove it was a blue title. I gathered up the original title from Texas, the Florida title putting it in my name and forwarded it to email *** . During several phone calls I got through to the representative *** who helped me get through to a claims adjuster. I finally spoke with Ken who went over the documents and said everything checked out and he saw no problems and would contact the dealership to speak with *** to approve the claim. Forty minutes go by and I called the dealership to check on the status and *** said no one called. Fifteen minutes go by and *** calls back and said it was once again denied. After an hour of dialing *** I finally got through to speak to a gentleman that I could not make out the name of and he broke everything down on the denial and he could not understand how I got a blue title that *** shows damage and was a total loss. He explained to me that I could have been covered but it would not have been the Gold plan. But because I was under the Gold plan and there would have to be a new contract my A/C claim would be a pre-existing issue and denied because I did not have coverage.
This is where I have a problem, I have had coverage and was given the plan based on the questions I was asked which was based on the clear Blue title and a clear VIN history report I ran on 2/25/2020. But since CarShield and American Auto Shield now wants to claim *** now controls whether or not I get to file a claim and have it approved (which is not what the sales representative said when I signed up) I cannot claim this issue using the Gold plan. But this is not the error by me as I gave the answers and provided based on the fact I had a clear Blue title and a clear VIN history that I ran before calling CarShield. So to say I cannot get a different plan and still claim this A/C issue because it is pre-existing is incorrect. I have had coverage since 2/25/2020, your claims department decided to cancel that contract. Based on the claims adjuster that I did not get the name of, said I could have had this taken care of if I had a different coverage.
So based on all this, this is a problem on CarShield and American Auto Shield not mine. My contract was cancelled unfairly, to say I cannot file a claim with a different level of coverage is incorrect and unfair. And to have a member of management call me to explain I will get a full refund is my only option is again incorrect and unfair based on this case. I have now had to pay the car dealership for the work they did to determine the issue with it, I had to take time off work and waste an entire day because of this debacle which burns leave that I could have saved because of what CarShield and American Auto Shield failed in their jobs, in their unfair practices and deceiving policies. I also want to add I provided evidence of everything and still they denied the claim and cancelled my contract. I have also recorded the phone calls that took place today for proof also.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We did contact your service contract administrator regarding your repair claim denial. American Auto Shield stated that your vehicle was ineligible for coverage due to a total loss and branded title.
American Auto Shield has full authority over repair claim procedures. They would be the proper party to resolve this matter for you. They stated that you were going to follow section M of your service contract and submit your dispute through the Denver Revdex.com to be settled by their arbitration rules. Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Your response completely contradicts what American Auto Shield told me. Here is the thing about this whole process that has me extremely upset. Every costumer service representative, claims adjuster I spoke with would tell me one thing and then I would respond then I would call to check status and the next representative would give me something different. I have recorded every phone call because as dishonest and apparently unaware of any of their policy and procedures, I could not trust that either company would have their copy of the phone calls. I read the contract the contract and I know what I need to do in arbitration, but CarShield is the one that sold me the plan. I answered all the questions for representative #***, I have a Blue Clear Title per Texas Law which passes as a good vehicle and not a totaled one. I ran my own car history before applying for CarShield and it showed absolutely nothing. CarShield did not say that everything was based on *** report which is irrelevant because Texas Laws lists this as a clear blue title and American Auto Shield is going by what an insurance company is listing on ***. If this had happened in Florida the story would be completely different and I wouldn't even be fighting this. CarShield sold me this plan instead of the plan that would cover my vehicle and that is per American Auto Shield (I have the audio to prove it). I also received the refund check today with the letter and the letter is a complete lie. This letter says I requested to cancel my plan and that is a complete lie. American Auto Shield cancelled it and I have audio of them saying that also. They also told the dealership employee that several times as I was trying to find out what was going on. CarShield and American Auto Shield have been dishonest during this whole process. You sold me a plan and did not hold up to what was agreed to. The only way I will be happy with this is by CarShield and American Auto Shield fixing my car because that is what was agreed upon. If you read the contract "NO WHERE' does it say anything about reasons to deny my plan except this "IF IT IS DISCOVERED THAT A CONTRACT IS ERRANTLY SOLD TO YOU ON A AN INELGIBLE VEHICLE, THEN A FULL REFUND OF THE COST OF THE CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE TO YOU". My car is eligible and there is nothing in the contract that shows what makes my vehicle ineligible. I want my car fixed. I will be following through with my Arbitration on American Auto Shield and I will be seeking possible class action lawsuit on both CarShield and American Auto Shield.
Fix my car and I will drop this whole thing.
Sincerely
Thank you for reaching back out to us.
It does state in your service contract terms, under #7...the following items are not covered by this contract "if your vehicle has ever had a title indication of salvage, junk, branded or other designation indicating the vehicle had been stolen, wrecked, destroyed, water damaged, or otherwise damaged to the extent that it was considered to be uneconomical to repair."
However, we have passed your complaint on to American Auto Shield for review. They are the contract administrator and have full authority over all repair claim procedures and decisions and will be able to address this concern of yours specifically.
Your service contract has been cancelled and refunded in full.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Your service term #7 is where your company has made a grave
mistake. Especially when it comes to Texas. Maybe you (CarShield) and American Auto
Shield should re-write the contract and address the state of Texas. As of now
your company and American Auto Shield wrong. Here is a breakdown of what a
title stands for in Texas and you compare that to your #7 terms. My car does
not meet that.
Texas Certificates of TitleA blue title in Texas indicates the vehicle has a clear
title, verifying that it's never been in a severe accident or been badly
damaged in a fire or flood to the point where an insurance company or the state
has declared it inoperable. An insurance company might sell total loss cars if they
qualify as such. They can then reassign the title to the person who buys the
car.A non-repairable Texas title is orange. This title must be
obtained on any vehicle that has been damaged or burned to such an extent that
its only worth is as scrap metal or for scavenging parts. In Texas, a purple title indicates a salvage vehicle. For
the purposes of Texas law and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, a salvage
vehicle means the following:The vehicle has damage or is missing parts that would cost
more to replace and/or repair than the vehicle is currently worth, orThe vehicle is coming from out of state with a salvage title
that has the indications of accident damage, flood damage, inoperable or
something similarThe vehicle is not an out of state vehicle with a rebuilt
title or a vehicle that an insurance company has paid to repair hail damage or
theft.
As for you saying American Car Shield being the contract
administrator, I have audio recording where an American Car Shield claims
adjuster telling me it is the fault of CarShield. Also your claim of me receiving a full refund is a false. I did
not receive the refund amount that a supervisor at CarShield said I was going
to receive. I only got a check for $85.86 and she said I would be getting a refund
for $171.72. You say that you will forward it to American Auto Shield,
but I have yet to get any correspondence from them. Both CarShield and American
Auto Shield have treated my situation wrongly, both of you fail to recognize
that the State of Texas classifies vehicles different than other states. That
the Texas DMV has labeled my vehicle as a clear vehicle. In your #7 it only
refers to a vehicle that has been “TITLED” what it lists and mine is not.
American Auto Shield denied this claim based on what an insurance company
listed the vehicle as. Nowhere in this the contract does it say the decision is
based on what the insurance lists it as. Also it doesn’t say anything about
claims being denied based on a CarFax report either. So again you and American
Auto Shield are in the wrong and denied my claim for something that isn’t even
covered in the contract. So it appears CarShield and American Auto Shield are
in breach of this contract.
Again I will drop this whole thing if my car is fixed. I haven't even cashed the refund check (which is short the full refund).
It should be noted that I have attached my contract as evidence for the Revdex.com to review.
Sincerely
Only pays to value of your car! Bad deal if car is old. Prays on women and poor. Upfront cost and deductable. Mechanics can't get hold of Car Shield to verify repairs and get paid. They give up. You're stuck!
I bought an extended warranty and I asked CarShield wanted to see my truck before I bought the warranty and they said no. They just needed the vin. number and mileage of the truck. I had the warranty for two years and I broke the Ring and pinion in the rear and the front end of my truck and now they denied my clam because they said it has a 3'' suspension lift and 35'' tires so they will not honor my claim. I bought my truck brand new from the Nissan dealer this way and like many other new trucks that are sold this way so if this was going to be a problem then they should have looked at the truck first to let me know this would be a problem! I would never buy anything from this company!
You had a repair claim submitted in May of 2019 for front pinion seal and left front axle seal leak. This repair was covered and paid for in the amount of $600.28. Your most recent claim for wheel spin with sudden tire engagement was not covered due to the oversized wheel and tire modifications, per your contract terms. Please contact your service contract administrator if you have any additional concerns. They may be reached at *** or as listed in your contract.
The Rep told me that all lubricated parts were covered. The oil pump is spewing oil all over. I loses 1.5 gallons of oil per every tank of gas. I took it to be repaired. The shop called me and told me that carshield denied the claim.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced.
American Auto Shield, your service contract administrator and obligated party under your contract terms, stated that your oil pump is not listed as a covered component in your powertrain contract terms. This part is not eligible for coverage.

I purchased a contract with Car Shield. I had a mechanical failure in which my shift assembly needed replacing. The Ford dealership contacted Car Shied and they refused to pay for the cost of the repair. The worker at the Ford Dealership said they have had lots of problems with the company not paying for legitimate repairs while other plans would have paid for this repair.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf, to obtain information on the repair you have mentioned.
Your service contract does not list the gear shift lever as a covered component. The part is not eligible for coverage.
Your service contract will be cancelled as you requested and you will be refunded the 2 payments made.

This has been a nightmare and annoying experience to even encounter
You do not have a vehicle service contract through our company, that we can see with the information you have listed.
I was sold a Vehicle Protection policy in August of 2019. The agent asked me if my vehicle title was a salvage title. I informed her that I didn't know. She sold me a policy anyway on which I payed $79 per month towards the policy up until February 2020. The reason I only paid until February 2020 is because my vehicle needed repairs done recently so I took my vehicle to the dealership for repairs and my claim was denied because of the title being a salvage title. I disputed this of course because I never should have been sold a policy let alone pay $79 per month on a policy for 7 months only to be denied a claim when I clearly informed the agent that I did not know if my title was a salvage title or not. She should have never sold me the policy. I demanded a refund of my hard earned money but was only refunded $79 of my hard earned cash. This business practice is terrible. Please help me get my money back if you can. Car Shield customer service reviewed the sales call when I was sold the policy and even agreed with me that I was wrongfully sold a policy and not at fault and misled but still charged for 7 months and only refunded $79. Terrible, terrible, terrible. They should be stopped.
Our sales representatives ask if your vehicle has a salvage or branded title, just for this reason. If you do not know if it is a salvage or branded title at the time of sale, you have 30 days to look over the service contract and call us if there is anything in the contract terms that you are unhappy with or reason you need to cancel. You did not give us a call back and let us know the vehicle had a salvage title.
At the time your claim was presented, your service contract administrator discovered that your vehicle was deemed a total loss on 3/12/ 2019 and now has a branded title. The total loss occurred just 4 months before you purchased your service contract.
Your contract was void by your contract administrator and you are in the process of receiving a full refund.

when trying to cancel and try to get your money back they will lie and tell you there going to call you back and never do so the whole 30 days will go by and they will tell you no to money back guaranteed they will give you the run around. I have been calling since 03/26 to cancel my account then today they say well its not in your notes like I have the phone record the lady said I will give you a call back. But i'm working with my lawyer to get my money back payed $200 for nothing to be covered oh wait its not there fault it's a SCAM!!!!!!
During the process of your initial purchase and in the service contract terms you received, it is stated that there is a 20 day waiting period before any covered repairs will be processed for payment. It is also stated that any vehicle failures that pre exist the effective date of your contract are not eligible for coverage.
Your repair claim was submitted within the waiting period and the vehicle failure pre existed the effective date of your service contract.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded in full the 2 payments you made.

Carshield told me on the phone that they would pay 100% of the cost to repair my transmission when I called to make a claim. I had to have my vehicle towed over 70 miles from Hayfork, CA to Redding, CA to a transmission shop. Hartnell Transmission repair in Redding, CA. The cost estimate provided by Hartnell was approximately $2200. However, when they spoke with Carshield they were told that Carshield would not pay anything. When I called Carshield back again after the repair service was told they would not pay anything, they were very rude and obnoxious with me. They offered no resolution whatsoever.
Carshield has misrepresented themselves in their TV advertising and also on the phone when I called to make a claim before I had my vehicle towed to Hartnell Transmission repair. I am disabled and on disability income. I do not have any way to go to my doctor or to pick up my prescription medications. The pharmacy does not mail my meds so I have to go to the pharmacy to pick them up. Without my transportation my health is now at high risk.
Your vehicle qualified for a repair negotiation membership. At the time you purchased your membership, it was explained that your monthly membership fee would be $19.99. The membership fee included roadside assistance and repair negotiation services.
It was explained at the time of purchase, that this service does not pay for repairs, rather an experienced claims adjuster negotiates with your repair facility to make sure you are getting the best price for parts and labor.
If you are not happy with your repair negotiation membership, please let us know and we would agree to refund the payments you have made.

To this date I have not received any response from CarShield. I called and spoke with a representative on August 24th who stated she had spoken with auto repair shop and my car would be repaired. In same conversation I asked that the contract be cancelled, because problem with my car started on August 5 and repair work has not been done, also cancelled to stop MEPCO (billing service) from continuing to withdraw from my bank account. Contact with this company stated August 6, 2019 and I asked that it be cancelled on August 24, 2020. I had to pay out of pocket for repair work on my truck of $499.20.
CarShield received payment each month on time because it was withdrawn from my bank account.
On August 5th, when problem started with my car and called the company all day with no response but on August 6th the monthly payment was withdrawn from my bank account. Since CarShield has not responded to me I feel CarShield has no intention of repairing my car. I'm asking CarShield to return all monthly payments made for 13 weeks of total $1,027 plus $499.20 for auto repair which I paid for out of pocket. Total net due $1,526.20.
