Too hard to try to get a covered repair paid.

CarShield Response • Mar 19, 2020

We contacted your service contract administrator regarding the repair claim you have referenced. You had an alternator failure that your repair facility did not call into your contract administrator. The repair was completed without prior authorization.
Your contract administrator said they would approve and pay for the repair this one time, but any subsequent repairs would require authorization before proceeding. Your administrator requested a copy of the final invoice singed by yourself and asked that the VIN number be included. You requested cancellation of your contract instead. Your service contract was cancelled as you requested.

They make it sound so easy, but try anything to get out of paying.

I've had car sales since November 2019 and my pick up fuel injector went out and they were supposed to pay 100% of the calls after $100 deductible and they ended up only paying $260 and I ended up having to come out to pocket with $500 because they didn't want to pay the labor cost it would cost to fix it and they've had my truck for 2 weeks in the shop so I'm definitely canceling the policy and get my money back because it's nothing but a big scam you can save the money and you'll have the money on the side to pay whatever you need for your car instead of paying these people that say they will pay something and then you end up having to come out your pocket anyway

CarShield Response • Mar 10, 2020

We have contacted your service contract administrator to check on the claim you have brought to our attention. They stated that they paid 491.26 for a failed fuel injector.

After listening to all of your reviews and issues, I called Car Shield to cancel my coverage. They actually started pushing back claiming the Revdex.com rating and reviews were rigged and purchased! What a unreal company to deal with. I finally had to get a little aggressive and explain I did not care and wanted my policy cancelled immediately. Wow, I guess their nice commercials on TV are just a scam.

CarShield Response • Mar 10, 2020

We are sorry to see you go as a customer of ours. Worth noting, our service contract administrators have paid over 9 million in covered repair claims in the last 3 months alone. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested.

By far the worst ever. The employees are worse than robots. They don’t care or even pretend to want to hear what you have to say. I wish I would have done more research before signing up. As they say, if it sounds to good to be true...

CarShield Response • Mar 10, 2020

Your service contract administrator, upon an inspection of your vehicle by your repair shop, found that your vehicle has LYFT rideshare sticker on it. Vehicles that are used or can be used for rideshare services are excluded from coverage unless the rideshare surcharge is elected. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested.

I signed up with Carshield and they told me when I signed up, that air conditioners would be covered. When I took it to the repair place (I got two estimates) the clutch in the AC isn't working. The repair place was on the phone with them for 40 minutes and now Carshield is saying no parts will be covered.

I have an account with Carshield. My car broke down. My certified mechanic lives two doors down from my house. He looked at my vehicle. He found the timing belt in pieces. He put the plate back on, but threw away the pieces of the belt. The car was towed to a repair shop. I had to pay to tear the motor down. Because the timing belt wasn't there, they denied the claim. They sent a representative. I explained to the representative what happened. I am handicapped and require transportation three times a week. They were going to give me a rental car, but now they won't give it to me.

This is a huge mistake. This company steals from customers. They take your money and don't pay claims. They denied me twice and had the nerve to offer a lower premium because of the denied claim, but I have to get my car fixed myself so why would I pay. This is a ponzi scheme

CarShield Response • Mar 10, 2020

We have contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to check on the repair claim you have referenced. Your repair claim was denied because of modifications that were made to your fuel system and an previous repair that was done improperly. Vehicles with modifications, (an inspection showed a rubber hose was installed going from your fuel tank to the fuel rail), are not eligible for coverage.
Your service contract has been cancelled and you are in the process of receiving a full refund minus the 180.00 in paid towing fees.

I will never recommend car shield to anyone. They talk a good game. You pay all that money to actors to tell lies on tv. When something goes wrong with your vehicle, they deny the claim. I should have read the reviews before I bought the contract. My BMW needed an engine. They asked for the service records which I supplied. They tried to say there was no oil in the car. The dealer told them there was plenty of oil in the car. Then they wanted to break down the engine, but I would have to pay up front out of my pocket, which would have been around $5000. Then if they say sludge was present, they would not cover anything. From the time I had the car towed to the dealership, car shield/America shield never called me. The car was at the shop for one month and I had to contact them. They never called to update me on anything. I had to go through the dealership. It was so frustrating. I finally gave up. I didn't have $5000 for them to deny the claim anyway. I canceled the claim and the contract. I ask if I would get a refund and I was told no. I think there should be a class action lawsuit somewhere. They are a fraudulent company. Everytime I hear their commercial, I turn the station. I am on a fixed income, so that's why I got the contract. The price was good. The dealer said this happens all the time. They deny your claim or try to use cheap or used parts. Best thing to do is get the dealership warranty.

CarShield Response • Mar 09, 2020

We contacted your service contract administrator regarding the repair claim you have brought to our attention. Per your contract terms, a diagnosis to find cause of failure is needed to determine the failed components in your vehicle and then move forward with the claim if the failed components are listed for coverage. You chose not to move forward, but rather to cancel your service contract. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. You are in the process of being refunded in full in a good faith effort to resolve this matter.

I’ve been paying CarShield since April of 2019. I didn’t need to file a claim until December when my car(2013 Ford Fusion SE) all of a sudden cut off and would not turn on or start. I had the car towed to a Ford service center and was told they would need to do a complete diagnostic check. I called CarShield and specifically asked is this covered under my contract and was told yes, so I told the service department to go ahead with the diagnostic check and it was discovered it was a wiring issue with the ignition switch. When the service department submitted the claim($768) it was denied, leaving me to pay the bill. I have been paying them FAITHFULLY and the 1st time I need to use them they failed me! I don’t feel I’m getting my money’s worth with this company.

CarShield Response • Mar 07, 2020

Your service contract will be cancelled as you requested and we will refund the last two payments you have made in an effort to resolve this matter.

I purchased Car Shield Auto Protection Plan in August 2019. As advertised on tv stations across the U.S., was told that if anything goes wrong with tbe engine, transmission, etc. That it would be protected by Car Shield with no worries about a labor and parts. I had a problem with the transmission on my 2008 Saturn Outlook around the last of October 2019. I took to shop in November. I contacted Car Shield about the problem. I was told by person that handles claims to get a diagnostic test to see what was wrong with the transmission. That was done, then in December 2019 I was told that a diagnostic test wasn't good enough, so then I would have to take the transmission apart piece by piece to pinpoint the problem. After deep discussion that was done. Now, after the adjustor came and had the mechanic take apart the transmission (in pieces).; saying the claim was denied. It left me with very upset. Now I am stucked. I paid monthly payments on time and now I have to borrower to get car repaired. The lied to me and to others saying that if anything happens to your transmission Car Shield will take care of it.

Originally called to cancel service prior to payment posting within a few days. Representative informed me that repair would be covered and account remained active, processing new payment. Repair, however, was NOT covered and I was manipulated into paying for extra month. Requesting refund for misleading verbiage in order to gain extra payment.

I had multiple awful experiences with Carshield and American Auto Shield (who is supposed to fulfill the claim). I submitted my claim and it was denied for a mileage discrepancy. I called back and the adjuster said that it was not a valid reason for denial and they would reassess the claim. I sent them all the documentation as asked for. After 2 months of back and forth with American Auto Shield and CarShield, my claim was still denied. I can never get a straight answer both companies tell me to call the other company and blame the other company. I would never recommend either company to anyone I know. While my vehicle was sitting in the mechanic for 2 months while they were sorting out the claim, CarShied was still charging me my premium. I ask them to refund the 2 months while my car was at the mechanic. After speaking to a very rude manager she would not issue a refund. I understand my vehicle was still being covered during those months but it was in the shop sitting there not being driven; they could have refunded me if they wanted to help make the situation a little bit right. Anyway, awful experience, complete LACK of customer service....but we all know how that plays out in the long run.

CarShield Response • Mar 07, 2020

When you purchased your service contract, you were asked for the exact mileage. You stated that you could not get the exact mileage at that time. The sales representative you spoke with, Nick, told you to call back in with the exact mileage within 24 hours if it was not the mileage you gave him.

When you submitted a repair claim on December 11, 2019, you were asked to provide service records to verify the mileage on your vehicle. The mileage you gave at the time you purchased your vehicle, compared to the mileage that was reported by your repair facility at the time your repair claim was submitted; showed that your vehicle had only been driven 5 miles since the time of purchase 2 month prior. This would show that the transmission failure was pre-existing the effective date of your service contract and not eligible for coverage. Without a verifiable service record from around the time of purchase of your service contract, American Auto Shield will not be able to move forward with your repair claim.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. We will agree to refund your payments in full as a gesture of goodwill and in a good faith effort to resolve this complaint.

I would not recommend this company to anyone I had a claim and explained clear the situation of my claim they just gave me the run around. Each time I called in a different Customer Service would say something different adding to what else was needed for my claim to be approved. It is not worth the time just save your own money put it in an account just like when paying them each month that is what I did and be faithful to saving it just like Carshield faithfully took your money each month and then when repairs come up you want need to contact anyone. As a former Carshield customer I understand why the company do not have a good rating it is a rip off and each representative tell you something different they lie. Another thing I read some of the responses from Carshield now how can that give a response now but could not provide satisfying information then the response is not base on the truth from Carshield they don't seem to know nothing when you call them so how do they know how to given an explanation now.

CarShield Response • Mar 09, 2020

We contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to check on the repair claim you have referenced. Your contract administrator stated that they did not receive a verifiable invoice from your repair facility and could not move forward with your repair claim. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of receiving a refund.

Customer Response • Mar 10, 2020

Thank you for responding to my complaint however Car shield still did not tell the truth the reason my claim was not honor is due to the unprofessional way it was handle by car shield. I paid for work done on my vehicle that I did not know was covered because car shield did not send out a full explanation of my coverage after I repeatedly ask them too do. So once I found out I ask them if it could be reimbursed to me and they said that it could and told me to email them a copy of the invoice which I did the very next day they told me I should get a check in two weeks. I waited and waited and after no check in two weeks I called car shield who at that time lied and said they had tried to contact me because the invoice did not have the vehicle number for the vehicle on the invoice. Car shield did not try to contact me I have only one phone a cell phone so I miss no calls and I even answer robo calls because I don't know who is calling. I immediately told them they were giving me the run around and the guy I spoke to told me then he would put a note in then that I would be re-sending the invoice with the vehicles number on it but told me to call car shield because I believe that was a different department so I did. I called car shield and explained the situation and then she immediately said well it is noted here that you are going to send it in with the vehicle number on it and I told her that is because he just put it on there. The lady then said she would contact the repair shop and she did and he agreed to send it in for me and he did so I waited a couple of days and called them back and they said they could not find the invoice after they gave him the fax number to use. I immediately called the repair shop and he sent me a text that he sent the invoice to them and they sent him a text stating they had received the document but they need a claim number or contract number on it so he did that. I immediately call them back the next day and then they told me they still could not find it but his text he sent me stated from them that they did have it the documents. so after this the lady this time told me to ask him for his email address to find the invoice and said they have a lot of fax numbers but remember they gave him the one to use. After this I call them back with the his email address and now this new customer service told me that even if they found it they would not know who it belong to because my name was not on the invoice so there we go with something different each time I called in there was something different told to me by a different customer service. Now I am frustrated and completely done with this so I told them to just cancel my plan and forget it. Now just think they said they could not find my invoice but they found it to tell the Revdex.com about my claim and now they are saying I will get a refund well if I do I will be in utter shock just another way to get out of something they are liars I will not hold my breath for a refund although I do deserve one. I will write another review if I never get a refund so the Revdex.com can see just how much of a rip off this company is thank you for your time.

CarShield Response • Mar 19, 2020

We did email and mailed your service contract about 2 weeks from date of purchase to the address and email address you provided to us. We also emailed your contract to you again, as you requested, on 10/22/2019 and mailed another copy of your service contract to you on 11/15/2019. All covered components are listed in the service contract terms.
Your refund 306.00 has been sent. 79.00 initial payment was credited back to your credit card and the remaining 227.00 was mailed to your *** address on 3/11/2020.

I was told that any problems with my van would be covered including my transmission and engine. But after reading my contract the information I was told over the phone was false.

Absolute scam!!! I would not recommend this company or product to anyone ever. Will definitely tell other to steer clear of you all together. I purchased an older vehicle and checked with you to see if it could still be covered. I was assured that it would be. That my transmission, engine, and drive train all were covered if they needed repair or replacement. I double checked with the person to make sure before I accepted the contract and started paying. 3 months later my transmission has gone out, and I am being told that it will not be covered because of some fine print in the contract. Now when I was sold this product I asked over and over what wouldn't be covered, and again I was reassured that all of it would be covered as long as I made payment and kept contract current. Turns out that is not the case and I am stuck with a non running vehicle and out 4 months of payments to your company. I will be sure to let everyone know exactly what kind of business you are running and how your selling techniques are very misleading and inaccurate.

CarShield Response • Mar 09, 2020

You purchased month to month powertrain coverage for your 1999 Honda Odyssey with 273,000 miles. Your repair facility called in a failure that is not listed as covered in your contract terms. Your contract administrator requested diagnostics to verify cause of failure, to determine if the failure was a covered component. You refused to authorize the teardown and requested cancellation of your service contract. Your contract has been cancelled as you requested.
We will agree to refund the payments you have made in a good faith effort to resolve your complaint.

Carshield, you handled it honestly. You have a lot of integrity and also very professional because my wife's Jeep had some problems there car shield handled it magnificently. Matter of fact I was shocked how quickly you guys handled the situation, took care of it. Even the people at the car dealership said my word where can I get a car shield. Its reasonably prices because I priced around. For what you get there it's very reasonably price and I appreciate that also.

CarShield Response • Mar 09, 2020

Thank you for your positive comments. We appreciate you letting us know. We have had over 9 million dollars in covered repair claims paid for our customers by our contract administrators, in the last 3 months alone! Please give us a call if we can assist you with a repair claim.

My warranty ended two months ago on my 2014 Mercedes CLA 250. I was referred by the dealer to purchase coverage from Car Shield. My first though was,due diligence prior to purchasing my policy. Once reading all of these bad reviews. My reaction was run fast and don't look back.
Going against my better judgment. I decided to purchase the policy. The Carshield representative I spoke to, so helpful and informative. I had a great experience. The reason for my review is, sometimes you cant always go by the reviews.

I am sure some of the clients have valid points and concerns with their policies. However, after reading most of the complaints. I nearly missed ?! Carshield responded to every last issue and dispute. That brought my a sense of ease to go ahead with my purchase. Thereafter, I decided to take the plunge on purchasing the policy. Very happy I came out of my comfort zone. Hopefully, my review will assist someone who is considering mechanical insurance.

CarShield Response • Mar 09, 2020

Thank you so much for your positive comments. You are exactly right. Not many people take the time to write a review when their claim is paid. Our service contract administrators have paid over 9 million in covered repair claims, just in the last 3 months alone.
Please don't hesitate to give us a call whenever you need assistance.

I called Car Shield to cancel my polices, after experiencing difficulty in a simple auto claim, which was denied. I had paid about $3,500.00 in my polices and couldn't get a $200.00 window fixed. I wanted my policies CANCELLED. I did not give a policy # just my name. I am sure that under my name 2 policies would have came up. so she cancelled the one she wanted to without verifying to me which one I wanted CANCELLED. in February Car Shield took another payment of $69.00 out of my account I wanted my policies CANCELLED. the csr rep should have verified the policies, which they always did when I called. this is another way of collecting money from consumers.
