Car Shield calls me everyday and I am not a customer nor have I ever been a customer. Today I received a letter from them telling me they have been unable to contact me at home. So, tada.....now I know who has been calling! Calling everyday is harassment! I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue. Thank you so much.
Thank you for submitting you concern regarding phone calls you have been receiving. However, CarShield has not been the company you are receiving calls from.
CarShield advertises by sending out mailed advertisements and running TV and radio commercials. CarShield does not "cold call" consumers.
We have checked our phone records and we show no incoming or outgoing calls to the number you have provided. Often times, consumer are receiving calls, then receive one of our mailed advertisements and assumes the calls are coming from us as well. That is not the case.
If you can provide us with the ID number that appears on the mailer you have received; we will be happy to remove your from our mailing list.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
I sent the ID number on the letter they mailed me, back to CarShield - so they could remove me from their mailing and phone lists.
Thanks for your help...as phone solicitation of car repair insurance is never ending!
Sincerely
Car shield sold me a protection plan for our Mercedes Sprinter Van and said, Our only out of pocket expense would be 100,00 deductible for any future repairs for our van. However, they fail to mention that the only contract/plan that allows the customer to spend only 100.00 deductible is the Diamond Plan or the Platinum Plan and they send me a contract for the Gold plan. My expenses came to almost 2,000.00 and Car Shield only wants to cover 236.50. I talked to a supervisor named *** today 2-19-20 and she would NOT do anything to make my situation any better. This is a terrible company that spends more money on advertising to try to scam the average person. Shame on Carshield!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. You purchased powertrain coverage for your Sprinter Van. You had stated during the call that you were looking for coverage and were concerned the the cost. The covered components were addressed during the sales call and you received your contract booklet that specifically addressed all covered components.
Your repair facility called in a claim with included components that were not covered under your service contract terms. Your repair claim was authorized for the components that were covered under your contract terms and has been paid as of 2/26/2020 in the amount of 236.50.
Your contract administrator cannot pay claims for components that are not listed as covered.

I've been paying CarShield monthly for the past year for automobile repair coverage and roadside assistance. I'm currently trying to have my car serviced using the CarShield benefit I've been paying and am now being told that it will not cover anything.
You purchased a repair negotiation membership for your 1995 Deville with 117k miles. The membership was explained during the call and also in the membership letter you received.
If you are not happy with your membership, we will get this cancelled out for you and refund the payments you have made.

I purchased the Power Train Gold warranty from Carshield on 11/3/17 for a 2015 Ram 1500 with a total purchase price of $2993. On 2/10/20 I took my vehicle in to *** in Falcon, CO because my four-wheel drive was not engaging. After the initial inspection by the repair facility, they submitted a claim to Autoshield (the executor of the policy I purchased with Carshield) by the prescribed procedures set out in the policy. Autoshield requested an independent inspection of the vehicle by a third-party inspector. This inspection was completed 2/13/20 with pictures and a report submitted to Autoshield on the same day requesting further tear down of the differential.
I contacted Carshield and Autoshield on 2/14/20 and spoke with Jacob, an adjuster in the Power Train division. After he reviewed the report, he found that the differential could not be disassembled any further. He stated that this claim looks valid and it was not a maintenance issue and would be covered. He stated that parts needed to be sourced and he would call me and the repair facility back before end of business that day. I did not hear back from him that day.
On 2/17/20 I contacted Autoshield and was informed that my claim and policy were cancelled for a "branded title" as reported by ***. Autoshield referred me back to Carshield to handle the situation further. I informed Carshield that when I purchased the policy in 2017, the vehicle was a manufacture buyback. I did this to ensure that my vehicle could be warranted. The state the vehicle was registered in and the insurance did not require a branded title registration or insurance policy respectively. They listened to the purchase phone call on 2/18/20 and stated that I did inform them that the vehicle was a buyback.
I disclosed all pertinent information required as a good faith actor in this contract to ensure my vehicle would be warranted. Not only did my policy get cancelled but they are only offering a pro-rated refund of the purchase price. Both remedies are unacceptable solutions.
Furthermore, since my vehicle has been at the repair facility, I have not received any updates from Carshield and only got information when I would call. This is a complete lack of customer service and has caused me to lose faith in them as a company. I will note that Jacob at Autoshield did provide quality INDIVIDUAL customer service.
It is my contention that Carshield acted in a manner that was contrary to good faith when this warranty was purchased. I have been honest setting up of the policy and maintaining my vehicle in accordance with recommended manufactures intervals prescribed in the operating manual. These actions should result in a covered claim for the Power Train Gold package I purchased.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf, to get information on the repair claim you have referenced.
American Auto Shield (AAS), your service contract administrator and obligated party under the contract, stated that they have left you a voice message requesting service records and they want to discuss the breakdown with you. American Auto Shield also called your repair facility.
AAS has full authority over repair claim procedures, approvals and denials, and is the correct party to be able to help you in the resolution of this matter. AAS's contact information is listed on the first 3 pages of your service contract. They can be reached at *** or call back the number they provided in the voice mail they left for you.

I purchased a used vehicle and a car shield aftermarket powertrain warranty.. Drove the vehicle approximately 9,000 miles and the transmission failed. Took it to a repair facility and they removed the transmission and car shield sent an inspector to look over the unit. Car shield then denied my claim saying there were preexisting conditions with the transmission. I've only had the vehicle a few months and now it's sitting at a shop and I'm unable to pay for the repair myself. I was told by aamco this would happen as car shield denies claims all the time.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced.
American Auto Shield, your service contract administrator, stated that there was a previous repair that was done incorrectly that caused the failure. The transmission cooler was bypassed and the fluid in the torque converter is the wrong color. Without the transmission cooler hooked up, the unit has no cooler and is running on fewer quarts of oil that it should have.
American Auto Shield, as listed on the first 3 pages of your contract, is the administrator of your service contract and obligated party under the contract. American Auto Shield has full authority over all repair claim decisions. If you have any further dispute regarding this repair claim, please see section M of your service contract.
All disputes between yourself and your contract administrator will be settled by the Denver Revdex.com's arbitration rules. American Auto Shield's contact information, as shown in your contract, ***

There sales persons let you to believe you have great coverage .Then when you need your car fixed, any little thing lets them out of fixing your car. In my opinion there crooks. They should be put out of business.
I purchased a con tract From Car Shield and was told there was a 20 day waiting period and 500 miles which I complied with and then called them To file a claim and I spoke with someone from their company who asked me when it started and I told him that the floorboard started on Friday which was 17 days instead of 20 days under contract then he proceeded to tell me that the window in the air-conditioning which broke three days later was not covered because the issue with the floorboards sort of on Friday but they’re not paying for because they said it was cosmetic they work and pay for that anyway so I can argue with him called another person spoke with them and adjuster he said he’s gonna listen to the tapes and get back to me five days have gone by no one‘s gotten back to me finally today they get back to me and tell me that they’re not gonna cover me and I have a File arbitration and the air conditioning and window when the following Tuesday which is the 22nd or 24th Please help meor the 22nd and I brought the car in on Wednesday the following day so I don’t understand what the problem is we’re not covering me to try to say that because the floorboards broken on Friday which I was honest about and tell them there’s a new cover me makes no sense whatsoever I just try not to pay for the billPlease help *** is my phone number thank you

We contacted American Auto Shield on your behalf to get information on the repair claim you have referenced. They stated that the failure occurred before the effective date of your contract and was denied as preexisting failure.

At this time we can offer California residents a repair negotiation membership with roadside assistance. This offering is per California laws and statutes. This membership is very inexpensive and can help you save money on repairs when your repair facility might be charging more for parts and labor that is the standard in your area.
I took my truck to the shop for repairs. They told the mechanic to tear down the engine. He complied with their request. He found lobe gone off cyl. 6 on camshaft with metal contamination, suggested engine replacement. They sent their rep. to inspect who agreed with my mechanic's diagnosis. The warranty company refused to repair the engine because it was due to wear and tear, internal parts of an engine are not sevicable parts and should be covered or else why have a warranity. They should honor their contract!! as I did my payments.

I live in California and for whatever reason they don’t offer their service in this state. I found that out when I called and tried to get a policy going all they could offer me with some coupons for a price reduction on certain items LOL
The idea of having auto repair insurance sounds great I just wish they could have it in my state
We do offer a repair negotiation membership with roadside assistance in your state. However, at this time, that is all we can provide, per California laws and statutes.
We were thinking to call CarShield but after reviewing their bad reviews here we're going with other companies. SHAME SHAME ON YOU!
Thank you for your comment, and we are sorry we are not able to assist you with your vehicle service contract purchase. Worth noting, our service contract administrators have paid over 9 million dollars in covered repair claims, in the last 3 months alone and are A+ rated by the Revdex.com.
I had coverage for my Volvo. I sold the car (10/04/2019) around the same time they took an auto debit payment from my bank account.
I called to tell them I no longer had the car - please refund payment- they refused but said they could move coverage to my other car, Ford Explorer. The next month- Nov-(11/2019 ) I traded in my Ford Explorer for a new car. I called to cancel coverage. They said no more payments would be taken, but , they continued to auto draft me... Nov, Dec, 2019 and Jan and Feb 2020...
I shouldn’t have trusted them... when they said policy was canceled and no more payments would come out as of Nov... tgat October would be only payment...
Now I’m out $356!!!! For I car I haven’t owned since Nov2nd... and my bank account is now overdrawn!!!
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. We will refund the 3 payments made. Your initial payment will be credited back to your Mastercard ***. The remaining 2 payments will be mailed to your 820 W 48th St. address. You should receive your refund check in approximately 10 business days.

Well it's my first time I guess I can't say yea or nay about them all I can say is they did okay the second time.
On or around November 19, 2019, I enrolled my 2013 BMW 528i with CarShield for the Enhanced PowerTrian Coverage extended warranty. During the initial phone call with CarShield, the associate explained that the following parts would be included in the coverage that I selected:
Engine (gas or diesel)
Transmission
Turbo Charger
Cooling System
Transfer Unit
Drive Axel (front and rear)
Air Conditioning
Electrical
Fuel System
Seals and Gaskets
Subsequently, on January 14, 2020, I experienced mechanical failure during rush hour traffic on Interstate 696, which is a four (4) lane highway in the state of Michigan. During the time my engine light came on, I was on the highway traveling up to 80 mph as most drivers were going 70 or more mph as well. It was unsafe and unreasonable for representatives from CarShield to expect a woman that was alone and terrified to immediately stop the car in the middle of the highway once the engine light came on. Pursuant to MICHIGAN VEHICLE CODE (EXCERPT) Act 300 of 1949 257.672 Stopping, parking, or leaving vehicle upon paved or main traveled part of highway or upon paved or unpaved part of limited access highway; violation as civil infraction. Sec. 672. (1) Outside of the limits of a city or village, a vehicle shall not be stopped, parked, or left standing, attended or unattended, upon the paved or main traveled part of a highway, when it is possible to stop, park, or to leave the vehicle off the paved or main traveled part of the highway. Inside or outside of the limits of a city or village, a vehicle shall not be stopped, parked, or left standing, attended or unattended, upon the paved or unpaved part of a limited access highway, except in an emergency or mechanical difficulty. This section shall apply to the stopping of school buses pursuant to the pupil transportation act. (2) A person who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction.
I eventually found a way to pull over, and shortly afterward, my vehicle began to shut down. I then contacted roadside assistance through my auto insurance company, and my car was towed from 696 and near the Dequindre Road exit to Erhard BMW in West Bloomfield, MI. There is where I was told my engine seized. More specifically, the engine’s timing chain broke and caused further damage to the engine. It was explained by the service advisor at Erhard BMW, that once the timing chain broke, particles were disbursed throughout my engine, causing the current damage.
As a result of the damage, the only resolution to repair my car was a new engine. Consequently, on or around January 14, 2020, my BMW service advisor contacted CarShield to open the claim for my auto repairs. During the call for the service advisor to share that the engine needed to be replaced to resolve the issue, a representative from CarShield mentioned that I only had the warranty for a few thousand miles and proceeded to note that the claim could be denied due to poor maintenance. Post the call with BMW service advisor, I received a call from a representative to inquire about the events that occurred during the mechanical failure. I shared with the representative that a frequent message on my car screen appeared that said: “DriveTrain Malfunction Drive Moderately.” This message appears on my car screen periodically but has always been a “fault” that the dealership clears whenever I take it to them for further testing. To remove the message from the screen, I turned the car off and restarted the vehicle. As I was traveling on the road, I pulled over to restart my car, and as usual, the “DriveTrain Malfunction Drive Moderately” message was cleared from the screen, and I proceeded to the dealership. During my commute on 696 is when the engine light appeared, and the car began to show signs of a malfunction. When it became safe, I pulled over and waited for a tow truck, but the aforementioned events happened in a matter of minutes. A CarShield representative also told me that keeping up with the maintenance was going to be an issue, implying that they may not pay because, according to the CarShield representative, I should have had five (5) oil changes from the last time I received an oil change. They also mentioned that operating the vehicle when the engine light came on could also cause them to deny my claim.
The allegations concerning the five (5) oil changes that were needed were inaccurate, and on or around January 15, 2020, my BMW service advisor was able to speak to a representative to confirm that the allegations concerning the oil changes were incorrect and sent paperwork to CarShield to verify that the maintenance for the car was up to date. Furthermore, there was a point when the representative also disclosed that there might be an option of providing a used engine to make the necessary repairs.
After CarShield received confirmation from my BMW service advisor regarding maintenance, they began to move forward with processing my claim. An inspector was sent to Edhard BMW, and he confirmed the damage to the engine. The next call that my BMW service advisor received from a representative at CarShield disclosed that CarShield would only pay around $4,000.00 for the timing chain to be replaced. However, after replacing the timing chain, the vehicle will remain inoperable due to further damage to the timing chain caused when the timing chain broke.
On January 23, 2020, I received an email from *** from a company with a slightly different name from the company I purchased the extended warranty from in November 2019. The company’s name was American Auto Shield, and the email stated the following, “Good Morning, we tried reaching out to you earlier today, but all we got was a busy signal, so we’re attempting to reach you this way instead. Thank you so much for submitting the tow bill, but it is missing an important piece of information…where your vehicle was picked up! Is there any way to add that and resubmit it, please? That way, we can move the claim along. If you have any questions, feel free to call us *** and reference the claim number in the subject. Thank you and have a great day.”
The tow company listed the location on the original receipt that was faxed to CarShield previously; however, when I called CarShield on January 25, 2020, to respond to *** email by sharing where the location can be identified on the tow receipt, I also received a notice from the representative that my claim was approved. I didn’t have to identify the location on the tow receipt. I disclosed that although the claim was approved to fix the timing chain, my car was still inoperable. The representative directed me to make an adjuster aware, but the fact that my vehicle remained inoperable had to come directly from the dealership. That said, on January 27, 2020, my BMW service advisor and I completed a conference call with an adjuster by the name of Jared to share that the claim was approved, but my car was still inoperable, and for the vehicle to be repaired I will need a new engine. Jared then told me that CarShield was not replacing the Engine because I drove with the engine light on. I explained that the engine light came on when I was on the highway traveling up to 80 mph, and it was unsafe and illegal in the state of Michigan to immediately stop the car in the middle of the highway when the engine light came on. I would be more understanding of CarShield’s perspective concerning continued operation if I drove with the engine light on for days or weeks. Still, from the time the warning light came on until my car malfunctioned, it was literally a matter of minutes when everything transpired.
After explaining this to ***, he made it clear that he could not help me, so he transferred the call to his supervisor, and I believe his name was Matt. The supervisor declared that there was nothing further CarShield could do to help me, and he referred me to dispute the decision for the claim.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.
We have contacted your service contract administrator, American Auto Shield (AAS), to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. American Auto Shield, as noted on the first 3 pages of your service contract and stated in your initial sales call, is the administrator and obligated party under your service contract and has full authority over all repair claim procedures and decisions.
AAS stated "This is a clear denial for continued operation. The estimate and authorization worked up for the timing chain repair is accurate and complete. There has been no payment to the shop on this as we have not received an invoice. We are paying towards an engine replacement that the shop has quoted near $15,000. AAS called the shop and no repairs have been completed therefore we are unable to pay towards the engine replacement with the amount authorized for the timing chain replacement. Once repairs are completed we can make payment towards the repair".

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
It is not clear in the contract what the term "continuous" means. Continuous, in my opinion, was to get to a safe and secure location and not drive the vehicle any more at that point. I never would have considered that they expected me to stop my vehicle in the middle of nowhere as soon as the single came on. My engine light came on when I was driving on a 4-lane highway during rush hour traffic and driving speeds were a minimum of 70 mph with the average to 80 mph and above. Therefore, it was unsafe and pursuant to state law, illegal to stop. "Stopping, parking, or leaving vehicle upon paved or main traveled part of highway or upon paved or unpaved part of limited access highway; violation as civil infraction (MCL 257.672). Sec. 672 reads as follows: (1) Outside of the limits of a city or village, a vehicle shall not be stopped, parked, or left standing, attended or unattended, upon the paved or main traveled part of a highway, or outside of the limits of a city or village, a vehicle shall not be stopped, parked, or left standing, attended or unattended, upon the paved or unpaved part of a limited access highway, except in an emergency or mechanical difficulty...(2) A person who violates this section is responsible for a civil infraction. A reasonable person would not immediately stop an operable vehicle in the middle of the highway if they are able to drive an additional mile or so to a safer location, which is what I did. I pulled over when it was legal and safe to do so, not only for myself, but for other drivers as well. Additionally, the response from Carshield is contradictory. It was stated this was a "clear denial for continued operation..." however, in the same response, Carshield noted that they are "paying towards the engine replacement." If they are paying towards the damaged engine, it's clear that Carshield recognizes that they are responsible for the damage as they agreed to cover upon entering into the contractual agreement with me around November 15, 2019. Carshield claimed they did not receive an invoice, but that is not factual. An invoice for the amount of $15,255.00 for the engine was submitted to Carshield by Erhard BMW on or around January 15, 2020. It confirms how Carshield was able to agree to pay $3830.00 to fix the timing chain only instead of paying for the engine replacement that's needed to fix the car. That said, due to my safety and the safety of other drivers, I pulled the car over when it was safe. I did not drive my car with the engine light on continuously. Therefore, I am requesting a reconsideration. I am requesting that Carshield consider increasing the approved amount ($3830.00) for repairs to 50% of the engine replacement cost (an additional $3,670.00) to fix my car, which would bring the total that Carshield would be paying towards my engine to $7,500.00. A new engine is the only way my car will be restored and drivable after the timing chain broke and damaged the engine. I am also requesting for Carshield to clarify the statement regarding "paying towards engine replacement" by disclosing the amount. Lastly, before I can authorize repairs, the dealership must receive the amount Carshield is paying that said, I am requesting that Carshield release the payment to Erhard or me as soon as possible as I have been without transportation since January 14, 2020. Additionally, the repairs are not complete because carshield recommended that I dispute the decision from Carshield with Revdex.com for further action on my behalf.
Sincerely

The beginning didn't work out real good but after I talked to someone higher up it worked out great.
We are glad we were able to help you. Please don't hesitate to give us a call next time you need assistance.
Do not go with this company. I called them trying to end my policy with them and was told I cant until next month and to call back then. When I was talking to customer service I kept getting interrupted about how great my policy was, how old my truck is (which is 8 years old), and they they will lower what I pay a month. The amount came out today and all I wanted was to cancel my service.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your contract has been cancelled as you requested. We will refund you last payment as a gesture of goodwill.
Absolutely rude customer service ! I spoke to Ryan said he was a licensed agent that will be providing me with quotes I do not believe it. save your money ! I’m glad I walked away
We have removed you from our mailing and call lists.
Said I would get a refund if I cancelled. Reviewing the contract there is no part of my car that they woild cover due to "pre-existing" conditions. Therefore, I wouldn't quailify for this policy. They lied about giving me a refund when I called to cancel on 2/10/20.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded in full.
Your initial payment will be credited back to your Visa Card *** and your remaining refund of your second payment will be mailed to your *** address. You should receive it in approximately 10 business days.

Car shield was there when we needed them and we're glad we chose them.
Thank you for your comment. Give us a call any time we can be of assistance.
Hands down THE WORST, total scammers, promised and sold me service that sounded right at first, then when I took my car to repairs they stated that they won’t pay for the total parts need to be changed, they only gave me an option to get a refurbished part installed and they don’t guarantee if that part will work or not.
CarShield is just a third party that sells the contracts to American Auto Shield, American Auto Shield is the one that do the claims and they don’t deliver on the promises given by CarShield they they start playing the blame game that CarShield representatives shouldn’t promise consumers by this and that.
IT IS ALL A SCAM AND SOMEONE IN CHARGE NEED TO STOP THESE SCAMMERS.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. However, we see that *** has paid 1799.55 in covered repair claims for you for an alternator repair and 75.00 in towing fees. We have noted in your file that you then cancelled your service contract after making 2 payments. Your service contract was working well for you.
Worth noting, *** has paid out over 9 million in covered repair claims, just in the last 3 months alone.
Please stop with your lying responses, you’re not fooling anyone specially me “THE CUSTOMER” I’m the one who was involved in the horrible treat by your establishment.
I am not making up this ***. My dealership was *** in Miami FL, and my Advisor Marlon has contacted your company personally for 3 different repairs and which you ONLY covered 1 repair out of 3 and I had to pay the other two out of pocket.
In the repair you paid for was mostly labor and rental fee because you denied the dealership part and instead you sent a refurbished part from autozone mailed to the dealer.
Your sales people when sold me my contract they promised so many good things that turned to be lies.
Your establishment and business are simply scam and I will do my due duties by writing reviews everywhere on Internet to cast my experience and to warn others from the trap they’re about to walk in. And maybe just maybe you will decide to do the right thing and stop selling people lies.
