car shield is a fraud..they need the government to stop them from false advertising ...I joined five months ago..my transmission went out last week...they came up with every wierd reason why they do not cover it

CarShield Response • Sep 06, 2019

Per your service contract terms, your vehicle needed diagnosis of cause of failure. You did not wish to authorize tear down to cause of failure and took your vehicle from the shop before it could be inspected. Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you will be refunded the payments made.

I was told that the Carshield policy is a pay as you go policy and failure to pay on time will result in termination. Well after I received my policy I did some research on the company and I was not pleased with what I saw. So I Decided I wasn't going to make any further payments to keep the policy. Again, to my understanding, failure to pay on time would result in termination. Well, Carshield made several attempts to contact me for a Payment but I never returned their calls because I had no intention of moving forward with the policy. You know what they did? They charged my bank account anyways for the past due premium. I NEVER authorized them to do so. When I reached out to them, the CSR, dismissive as he was, told me that because they couldn't get a hold of me they had to charge my account. So what happened to terminating the policy due to non payment? They're a fraud and I regret ever signing up for a policy with them. I've already notified my bank of the fraudulent charge and the matter is being investigated. Carshield is a fraud and very deceiving. I would NOT recommend to anyone!!!.

We have reviewed the call when you purchased your vehicle service contract and the representative you spoke with did ask for your authorization run the initial payment and to run the subsequent payment each month thereafter on the 18th of each month. You said okay.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you will be refunded the 2 payments you have made.

I have repeatedly asked this company not to contact me by mail and phone. They NEVER stop.

CarShield Response • Sep 06, 2019

We did received your mailed requested on 8/29/2019 asking us to remove you from our mailing list. We did that immediately. We show no prior contact from you.

Your information has been removed from our mailing list. You should receive no additional mailers from our company.

The commercial is misleading, The coverage is very limited, and this company picks and chooses what they are going to cover at their discretion. I was told that "I am lucky, because they don't usually cover a vehicle as old as mine!" Seriously!? Why didn't the salesman tell me that when I signed up? I would not recommend this "service" (haha) to anyone.

CarShield Response • Sep 06, 2019

We appreciate the opportunity to respond and clarify this matter. The vehicle service contracts we offer are based on each consumer's specific year, make, model and vehicle mileage. The service contract your vehicle qualified for was based on those specifications.
Your vehicle, a 2006 Jeep Liberty with 114,289 miles, qualified for a Powertrain Gold Extended Service Contract. The representative you spoke with read all the covered components for this service contract to you before you purchased it. You also received a copy of your service contract terms in the mail and by email, with a 30 day full refund period to read over the terms and conditions.
You purchased your service contract on 7/31/2019 and submitted a claim on 8/26/2019 for a lower ball joint. This is not listed as covered in your powertrain gold service contract terms and was properly denied.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you were refunded in full the one payment made.

Car shield lies I signed up with them and it's been a complete nightmare car in a shop that is not doing anything and stuck without out a car or no rental like they promised you before signing up

CarShield Response • Sep 06, 2019

We have looked into your complaint and see that your repair facility was difficult to get a hold of. Your service contract administrator called the repair facility several times to get things moving along, with no answer. On 8/22/2019 you spoke with your service contract administrator and told them your repair facility was not being very helpful and you were going to use the towing allowance provided by your service contract to move your vehicle to another repair facility.

Buyer beware. They will come up with any excuse not to cover a repair! I have diamond coverage and they refused to pay for my a/c repair. My car was at the dealership for seven days and they would not cover my rental. And getting them on the phone is close to impossible. The only good thing about carshield/autoshield are the reps. This company was featured on the news due to all of the complaints. Definitely a bait and switch.

CarShield Response • Sep 06, 2019

We have record that you had a repair claim paid on 8/24/2019 for an emissions sensor. Repair claim notes show that you had a leak in your AC system. Evac/rech w/dye to find leak is not listed as covered in your service contract terms.

Have this warranty through CarShield and took my car to the shop to be repaired. They are not covering the air conditioning, something they should cover. I asked to reimbursed being that I’ve been paying and can’t use the service when needed.

CarShield Response • Sep 05, 2019

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and the opportunity to respond.

Your service contract does cover many components of your vehicle, including your AC condenser, compressor, evaporator, expansion valve, accumulator/receiver dryer, orifice tube and blower motor. Your service contract administrator informed us that your vehicle had leaking AC lines. This is not covered under your contract terms.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you will be refunded the two payments you have made.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I started a warranty with Car Shield in October of 2018. Paid my monthly payment timely through August of 2019. On August 21, 2018, my fuel pump relay failed to work. I took my Dodge Ram to the dealership to check theck the problem. They confirmed it was the relay. I called to make a claim to Car Shield. I was leary because I'd heard horror stories of denial of warranties. I called Car Shield and the lady told me, " no problem, you've been paying faithfully, it will, be taken care of." The dealership contacted Car Shield to relay the diagnosis. The Car Shield representative stated that it wasn't covered last month (July 2019), but it's covered this month. Strange. The dealership explained to me that an adjuster had to come out but they never came. The dealership called me on 8-26-2019, and informed me that my claim had been denied and that my car was not covered. I called the adjuster and he said I didn't have the right plan to cover the electrical system, even though, it's the fuel system that has failed. I feel like this company is attempting to swindle good paying customers out of money and are not acting in good faith. All I want is my car fixed.

CarShield Response • Sep 06, 2019

We contacted your service contract administrator regarding the repair claim you have referenced. They stated that the fuel pump relay is not listed as a covered component in your powertrain service contract terms. The powertrain service contract your Dodge Ram qualified for does not list the TIPM or relay as a covered under the contract terms.

If you have any further questions regarding the denial of the repair claim, please follow section M of your service contract. This dispute resolution sections advises that all disputes between yourself and American Auto Shield, your service contract administrator/obligor, will be settled through the Denver Revdex.com's arbitration rules.

If you are unhappy with your service contract for any reason, in a good faith effort to resolve your complaint and as a gesture of goodwill we will agree to issue you a full refund of the monies you have paid into your service contract. You can contact us at *** with any further questions.

I left information at their website. I received 4 calls within an hour. The agent refused my multiple requests to email me the quote and coverage.

I ended the call and received a voicemail message, offering a lower rate if I made my first payment today - again without seeing a quote or coverage.

CarShield Response • Aug 27, 2019

You can view all the vehicle service contracts we offer online at CarShield.com. These sample contracts have all the contract terms and covered components listed just as they would appear in your service contract, if purchased. If you purchase, you also get a 30 day free look period to read over all the contract terms. If there is anything you don't like about the contract terms or covered components during that time, you will be refunded in full the the initial payment made.

I purchased a contract to repair my vehicle on August 1, 2019. I was told that it would cover everything except normal wear and tear items such as brake pads, tires, windshield wipers, etc. I specifically asked about certain items the contract would cover and I agreed to purchase the contract. I was told that I had to wait 20 days for the contract to become effective. On August 21,2019 I took my vehicle to a certified repair shop as stated in the contract. The shop originally told me that I would have to pay for diagnostics in advance at a rate of $100 an hour and it would take about 3 hours, and they didn't think Car Shield would pay for it. I told them never mind and went outside and called Car Shied to cancel my policy. Car Shield confirmed to me that they did cover the cost of the diagnostics as long as it involved a covered part. They also told me that the charge for the diagnostic was to be added to my bill and all I would have to pay was the $100 deductible that was part of my contract. He then told me that my 20 day waiting period was up and this was the first day I was eligible to use the contract and to find another repair shop if this place didn't comply. I then went back inside the shop and told them what Car Shield had told me and they said no I didn't have to pay up front but if Car Shield didn't cover any defects they found I would be responsible for the payment of the diagnostics. He also noted the date on the contract and said that warranty companies usually require you to wait 30 days and I told them my contract only had a 20 day waiting period and the Car Shield representative just told me that my waiting period had expired today and I was good to go. At that point I left the vehicle with the shop sometime between 2-2:30pm. They gave me a ride home and said they would contact me when they finished the diagnostics. They did not start on my vehicle until the next day, but they called me around noon to tell me everything they had found and they were about to submit a claim for repairs to Car Shield. He called me back about 15 minutes later and said that Car Shield would not honor the repairs because I had not waited days. Even he was concerned because the contract clearly states that the effective date was 8/1/2019, and it is now 8/22/2019. I called Car Shield and even the customer service agent said it should be effective, but when she talked to her supervisor, they said that the contract didn't actually take effect until August 2,2019 and I was still in my waiting period. I told them that was not what the person told me the day before, and if he had explained that to me I would have waited a couple more days since these were not issues that didn't allow me to drive the car. I also stated that since the repair shop hadn't submitted an official claim until 8/22/2019 that I should be out of the 20 day waiting period regardless. They admitted that their representative may have given me the wrong information but refused to honor the contract. They then told me that even if I had waited the full 20 days my issues would not have been covered because they were deemed pre-existing and would not be covered, nor would they be covered if I try to submit a claim later. They then tried to convince me to stay with the contract because other issues may occur later and also that they would help me get parts to repair the current issues at a 30% discount. I told them that I just wanted a refund and they say they are giving it to me, but I am also out of $345 for the diagnostics that I would not have gotten had they told me I was still inside the 20 day period or that they do not cover pre-existing conditions. If I had known about the pre-existing conditions, I never would have bought the contract because the vehicle has 140,000+ miles on it, so naturally there are things that are about to go bad. I also told them when I purchased the contract that the vehicle was not mine, but it was my daughter's, who is deployed out of the country for a year and left it for me to use, so I didn't know what all may be wrong with the vehicle. They said it didn't matter and that I could include her on the contract so she would be covered also when she returned.

CarShield Response • Aug 30, 2019

Your first repair claim was presented during the waiting period and the failure was pre existing the effective date of your service contract. The repair cannot be covered per the service contract terms.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you have been refunded in full the 1 payment you made, back to your ***.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: When I called customer service on the day I took my vehicle to the shop I was told that my waiting period was over. The reason I called them was because the repair shop didn't think my policy would cover the required diagnostic testing for my vehicle. At that point I called customer service to cancel my policy because if they were not going to cover the diagnostic testing which was quoted at $300 by the repair shop, I didn't need a policy from car shield. The customer service representative assured me that the diagnostics would be covered as long as it related to covered parts. He even assured me that my waiting period had ended on that day and it was ok to proceed with the diagnostic testing. At no point was there any mention about pre-existing conditions. When I called the next day because they had rejected my claim, that's when they came up with this story about the 20 day waiting period was not in effect. My policy clearly states that the effective date was August 1, 2019. The claim was not submitted until August 22, 2019. I appreciate that they refunded my policy amount, but that's what I asked for on August 21, 2019 when I took it to the shop in the first place. I would not have proceeded with the diagnostics, but they convinced me to proceed with the diagnostics which wound up costing me $300 out of my pocket because their representative made a mistake, not me. They even admitted to me that their representative made this mistake and it happens often. They also tried to convince me that even though my policy states that it went into effect on August 1,2019 it really didn't start until August 2, 2019. I have the backing of the repair facility to prove that when they told me that they thought car Shield would not pay for the diagnostics I left and came back after talking to the customer service representative. Naturally he doesn't know what was said, but I told him that I had just talked to the representative and he assured me it would be covered. He even expressed his concern that I had not waited 30 days, whicg he said was noormal for most policies, and I told him my policy had a 20 day waiting period. He even noted that my policy took effect on August 1, 2019.

Sincerely

I have a contract with this company. I purchased the warranty from them in 5/14/19. I needed a repair on my vehicle. I took my car to the shop on 8/15/19. Carshield told me the flywheel was not covered on the contract. On the contract it says the engine is covered. It doesn't say on the contract that the flywheel wouldn't be covered. I had to pay $1700 for the repair because they will not pay it.

Customer Response • Aug 23, 2019

There is an error in my original complaint. I made the purchase on May 14, 2019, and not March 2019 as Revdex.com has it.

I have cancelled my contract with them, and they refused to reimburse the monies I paid them. Company is a complete ripoff. Denied my claim, said previous work that had been done on the car which we knew nothing about was the reason they would not pay our claim. Wasted money on a service the did not provide. Would say buyer beware...take your money and do nothing in return. Plan to contact my credit card company and possibly persue legal action if they do not return my money paid to them. Which in my last conversation with them they refused.

I I rolled in car shields extended warranty program and now that I nee car repairs they don't want to fix my car they flipped the car repair cost on to me and won't give the ok to the car repair shop to do the repairs they have taken hours of diagnostic time from the repair shop and don't want to pay them or have my car repaired they said the cost is on me and it's a engine problem which the insurance said that they would pay for and the shop is minus muffler it is a lot of connecting me from person to person on the phone not responding to my repair shop it's been three weeks in the shop so far etc.

They won’t stop calling me to sell me coverage I don’t want. They

My word, Carshield was a terrible experience for my family and I. They did not cover my repairs when I needed them most. I can understand that, some issues they cover and some they don't. However, they were ordering a part for me, and that took 3 weeks where no progress was made until I called in. No updates, no contact, just nothing about the delays, and I have special needs children: I NEED MY VAN!! I called in to cancel my contract, and they offered to compensate me by moving my due date and giving me a $10 discount because they knew I just paid a large repair bill. They still charged me without the reschedule or the discount, after I asked SEVERAL times if they were sure this money would come out later! I called in to find out what happened with the promise of moving my due date, and the $10 discount and the CSR said she would have the charges removed as they were still in pending status. Naturally, of course, the payment posted and now I have a nearly $200 overdraft! I called in and completely canceled my service, but they have wrecked my month! I was unable to take my kids to their doctor's appointments, can't pay copays! Unable to get my kid's lunch money for school. Unable to finish buying their school supplies. Electric bill is due, may get disconnected because I have to pay an overdraft instead of my bill. Need I go on as to how this has totally butchered this month?

CarShield Response • Aug 29, 2019

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and the opportunity to reply.

We contacted your service contract administrator regarding the repair you have referenced. They stated that the failed components were an ABS pump, a lower intake manifold gasket and an EGR Valve. These components are not listed as covered in your Powertrain Gold Service Contract terms. Your contract administrator was able to help you with part sourcing on these components to help you with the cost of the repair. The parts were ordered and sent to your repair facility.

As you requested, your service contract has been cancelled and we are in the process of refunding you in full, the amount of 386.00. $99.00 has been credited to your Visa ending in 6990 on 8-298-2019 (Visa generally takes 3-5 days to show the credit to your account) and the remainder of your refund will be mailed to your Springwood Drive address. You should receive it in approximately 10 business days.

I have had the warranty with this company for a few months. I have a 2003 Infinity. On July 30 I called them to do a claim because I thought my starter went out. I had my starter replaced out of my own pocket and come to find out it was my motor. They gave me a claim number and to get my car towed to a certified shop. When I went to the shop it was not certified. I went to another shop that was certified. The shop told them the motor went out and there was oil and antifreeze still in my car. I did a recorded statement. They originally told me to tell the shop to go ahead and start working on the vehicle. I asked them for them to tell them. I was then told my claim is denied. How is that possible that it is denied when the part is covered? I asked for a supervisor who gave me no answers about anything. They tell me one thing and tell the shop another thing. They are claiming it is denied due to water but the shop and me have never reported any water issue. Contract

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and the opportunity to respond.

Your service contract administrator denied your repair claim because you stated that your engine locked up when you almost hit a car in front of you and had to pull to the right to avoid the collision. When pulling to the right, you stated that you drove into a flooded area and your engine locked up. This is not a mechanical failure and is excluded from coverage under your contract terms.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are being refunded in full, minus the 136.67 that was paid for towing.

Carshield is a joke. They tell you they will cover different parts on your car to only find out they will come up with every excuse in the book to no pay for your car repairs. I wish we would have checked their ratings before giving them a hundred plus dollars each month.

I was told when I purchased this service that it would cover any service charges on my car. I have been paying for 11 months and the 1st time I took my car in they denied paying the invoice. Additionally, the car service had an extremely difficult time even getting someone to address the issue.

I brought my 2012 ford f250 to *** dealership because my transmission went out. *** called car shield to have them pay for the repair. Car shield sent out an adjuster and the adjuster made a report that my truck was modified and had a lift which my truck has air bags not a lift.
