CarShield Reviews (%countItem)

Purchased a warranty and pay 99 a month. Took my truck to the shop with engine noise after calling carshield. They wanted the shop to tear down to point of failure which I agreed to after they assured me that my problem (timing chain issues) was covered under my warranty. After several phone calls, and over a month later and carshield sending an inspector 3 different times to look at my truck, my claim *** was denied. They say it's due to lack of maintenance which is not true. My oil has been changed at a local shop every 4 to 5000 miles. But since I didn't keep receipts that's the excuse they want to use. I was told service records was not a must and they were aware at the time of my purchase of the warranty that I had no receipts but still had the shop tear my engine down. Now I'm stuck with a large bill. I've seen this numerous times after reading all the reviews. They come up with whatever excuse they can to get out of paying a claim. I've gave the contract to my lawyer and hope to hear something soon but people beware of this company!! Stay away!!

To whom it may concern,
I purchased a CarShield policy and I submitted a claim through them. Three days after my warranty went into effect, I was leaving work and my vehicle unfortunately would not start. This came as a huge shock to me as my vehicle was running perfect before that and never presented itself to have problems. After my vehicle would not start, I had it towed to Herberts Town and Country where they look to find a problem with the engine. To file the claim and to start to work on the vehicle, they contacted Carshield for approval. The first adjuster that went out to look at the vehicle approved my claim but then after it was denied. The reason they were denying it was because they didn't feel that they had adequate information just by the adjuster looking that the vehicle so they told me to tell them to break the engine down. After the engine was broken down another adjuster came and approved the repairs. After the adjuster submitted my paperwork to CarShield they denied once again but this time on different grounds. The reason that they are saying that it was denied was because they believe the damages to the vehicle occurred before the policy was purchased and went into effect. As I said the vehicle was running perfect and never presented itself to have any problems whatsoever. This vehicle was always up to standard. The oil was always changed on time and the vehicle was looked at by a mechanic during the oil changed as part of their checks and inspection. The check engine light was not on and there was absolutely no warning to the present issue at hand. This was the reason it was a shock to me that this happened. I truly wish I was able to provide more proof on the issue to prove my case but I unfortunately can not. I understand that people pull scams to just get something paid for but I am not one of those people. Everything that I mentioned happened the way I stated it. Now unfortunately for CarShield and I, my vehicle did stop working at the time that I mentioned, but because I pay for this policy and this policy was purchased to convince me; the customer; I don’t feel as though it is moral to deny the repairs when the issue occurred within the policy effective date all steps were taken in the correct order to fix the issue. Currently, what is being said on the commercial is not being honored. One of the numerous times that I called, one of the employees stated out her mouth that the policy is a set up and that when something actually occurs on the vehicle that it will be denied so that CarShield don’t have to pay for it. As a single mother with that one car, this has left me and my three year old daughter having to dangerously wait outside at 5am to catch the city bus every morning to ensure that she makes it to school and I make it to work. I am writing this dispute because the repairs of the vehicle is important to mines and my daughters safety and simply to survive in this city alone. I purchased this policy just in case something was to happen to my vehicle and now that it did I would like what I am paying for to be valid and fix the repairs that were approved previously.
Thank you for your time

My vehicle has been in a service shop *** for 2 weeks. I have a 2006 Chrysler Town and County. The van needed an alternator and actuator. They sent the alternator but didn't send the actuator. I called 3 way with the shop. They hung up when we told them they haven't sent the parts to get the job done. They have been giving us the run around this whole time.

Never signed a contract with CarShield, but that didn’t stop them from harassing. I would receive an mail that had no return address and words boldly claiming that it’s very important and should be opened immediately. Inside it is from CarShield and they are claiming that they are the official car warranty and I should contact them to start service

I had purchased a month to month contract with Carshield who promised me that they would handle of all of my issues with my car if ever I had an issue with my transmission and engine if I should ever need them. I paid $99.00 each month for this contract. Well in July 2019 which was last month my engine went on me. I had to have my vehicle towed 5 times to several repair shops. I was told by 2 places that they stop dealing with Carshield because they don't pay. A customer will have to dig deep into their pockets to get the repairs done. I finally decided to have it towed to the *** dealership. An agent was assigned my case and then told me that they could not pay for a new or rebuilt engine. I'm left broke and out of a car at the same time. Make it so bad, I'm handicap and stuck in the house. I will have to use my wheelchair to go get my dogs their food as well as mine.

We have contacted your service contract administrator, ***, on your behalf to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. They stated that your repair claim is pending your approval of a diagnosis to cause of failure, per your contract terms. Their last notes on July 30, 2019 state that you were considering moving your vehicle to a repair facility that did not want an up front payment for diagnosis.

Per your request in this complaint, we will cancel your service contract and refund the payments you have made.

Carshield is broadcasting fraudulent advertising. Their advertising says that everything is covered--they say that all your automobile problems will be covered. This was not my experience. They use Autoshield to fulfill the work. Carshield is the marketing agent.

CarShield Response • Aug 20, 2019

We have contacted your service contract administrator on your behalf to get information on the repair claim you have brought to our attention. Your vehicle inspection showed that your vehicle had all for engine mounts collapsed, pre existing the effective date of your service contract. Pre-existing failures are not covered under your contract terms. The sales representative you spoke with did advise you that no pre-existing failures would be covered.

Paid $3,793.00 for a Carshield Powertrain Plus Coverage back in 11/2016 and was sold very simple by saying anything goes wrong with your engine, transmission, transfer case, Air Condition, Fuel, and gaskets and seals are all covered. Just had my second claimed denied and had my Son read over everything, he advised my to cancel it immediately cause nothing is covered. Told me that it has a loop hole for the loop hole. They sold me a Senior Citizen and retired Navy Service Member a junk warranty. I don’t have access to the internet but have since found out they have a F rating with the Revdex.com and lots of 1 star reviews. How can they continue to function and operate like this. This is a complete ponzu scheme. With the 100 of customers the sign up the probably pay out 10-20% of all claims if that. I’m looking for a full refund for my Coverage that didn’t cover anything. I will next be contacting the local news and going to social media to see if there’s any other Seniors or Ex Service men or woman targeted.

CarShield Response • Aug 25, 2019

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond.

You purchased a powertrain gold service contract for your 2004 Volkswagen Touareg on November 23, 2016. The covered components were addressed during the initial sales call and you received a copy of your service contract with outlined all covered components in the terms and conditions of the service contract.

You had a claim submitted on August 16, 2018 for a sunroof drain and tie rod ends. These components are not listed under your powertrain service contract terms as covered components.

In July of 2019 a repair claim was submitted for the front shaft seal of your compressor. There is no stand alone seal or gasket coverage under the contract terms.

The powertrain service contract that *** purchased covers many components, however, these items are not listed in his service contract terms as covered.

Worth noting, our service contract administrators have paid over 14 million dollars in covered repair claim in the last 6 months alone.

*** service contract has been cancelled as he requested and he in the process of being issued the prorated refund he is due. We have waived the cancel fee for him.

I took my car to a repair shop. The shop called Carshield and told me that they would not cover repair costs or towing costs. I was told by Carshield that I would be covered and protected when I enrolled in services. They stated I was on a different contract and would not honor the costs. Due to this, I have lost my car and no longer have one.

1994 Chrysler Lebaron qualified for a repair negotiation membership because it already had an existing failure with the fuel pump. The repair negotiation membership was explained fully during the call.

*** has requested cancellation of his repair negotiation membership and has been refunded the $16.99 he has paid for the first month of membership.

I call to cancel my contract policy with Carshield because it was a month to month policy. In case if I didn't use the warranty I could never get a portion of my money back that I paid for the down payment and monthly payments. Before canceling my policy over the phone, I would make my month to month payment. Because I cancel my policy in July, I did not make my monthly payment by phone or on the computer which is due on 4th of every money. On yesterday CarShield stole $160 off of my credit card. I cancel the policy and they refuse to cancel it. They keep trying to sell me about if the vehicle breaks down the repairs would be costly. I need help in getting my money back.

I signed up for services with this company back in February 2019. This past month, my transmission has gone out and they sent out an inspector. The inspector stated it was normal wear and tear and it was not caused by neglect. At that time, they stated to go ahead and replace the entire transmission. When I bought the car in 2016, the dealer stated they changed all fluid, filters, complete maintenance, etc in the transmission before the car was sold. Carshield is now denying the claim and are requiring documents of maintenance for the last 12 months. I turned that into the dealer and the dealer has faxed that to Carshield. About a week later, the dealer reached out to Carshield (because they had not heard anything) and they told the dealer that they have decided not to honor my claim.

CarShield Response • Aug 23, 2019

we contacted your claims administrator to check on the repair claim you have referenced. The claim you have referenced was not denied, but was pending you sending in your manufacturer scheduled transmission service and filter change so they could move forward with your claim. These service records were never sent in.

Your service contract has since cancelled for non payment. Per your contract terms, when a contract cancels for non payment, no refund is due. However, as a gesture of good will and in a good faith effort to resolve your complaint, we will refund you in full minus the inspection fee and the previous starter repair claim that was paid on May 3, 2019.

Getting the run around from adjusters. Cannot get my car repaired. Every day its a call to the office but ore hoop to jump through after another.. My engine and transmiaaion needs work. However, we wanted to do it in phases. They insist that we have to break the car down for both items with no guarantee of repairs. Communication is bad. Every adjuster says something different. I want my car fixed immediately. It's been about 1 month.

Just bought a used BMW 328i in June and a few weeks ago it started vibrating badly at idle. Took back to the dealership and they replaced 2 motor mounts. I paid the $100 deductible and was on my way. I am rejecting this response because: I never opted in and never contacted CarShield until you violated TCPA laws. I have learned the new thing for companies is to purchase *** based space to state opt in from people. If I wanted a car warranty I would contact someone and give them proper information about my vehicle. I would not use *** IP address as you showed me as my contact information and vehicle information mileage totally incorrect. I had you logged as only 3 calls but certainly appreciate you letting me know it was 4 TCPA violations. You also state you have quit contact with me but you haven’t I’m still receiving your threatening sounding letters and as of to date 5 after you state I was removed from your contact list. So no your falsely used opt in tactics don’t apply to me. You state I opted in July 30th and that IP address is from *** and at 1:30 A.M. and I’m never on a computer at 1:30 A.M. because I’m asleep I have to to be at work at 7:00 A.M. I’m assuming I opted in and flew back into Texas from Canada where that IP address came from where you state I opted in and made it to work by 7:00 A.M. Sounds pretty ridiculous to me and like I said you’re still sending me your threatening sounding mail after stating you have had no contact with me. I’ll attach the proof of your 5 letters since you removed me from your list. In fact I just received another one and I’ll attach IP address where you state I opted in as it’s from *** out of Canada a cloud based service.

no you have never complied with my requests or I would not still be receiving your mail. So whatever you come back with is not satisfactory to me because it’s a lie I proved that when I furnished those flyers you sent me. Look at the dates way after July 30th. Contract *** TOTAL SCAM !!!! Contract # ***. I am a senior citizen who purchased a "Platinum "Luxury" vehicle service contract with this company. They knew it was a 20 year old car and I live in NYS. Upon taking my car into the garage they will repair nothing !!!! Because my car has RUST !!! If I knew NOTHING is covered because of rust I would never have purchased this contract !!!! When purchasing this contract I had total peace of mind thinking I could continue driving my car that only had 72,657 miles with no major issues. I feel TOTALLY scammed and would like my money back ! I feel I was deceived into a total sense of security, when in fact I HAD NONE !! Total SCAM !!!

I purchased the Car Shield vehicle service contract in January, having at first $90 and later $79 monthly charges on my VIsa. Their advertising states that this warranty would be honored by 'any reputable repair service'. When my car's engine check light went on last week, I called 4 service companies and was told they would not honor Car Shields' warranty. Two were Dodge dealers since my car is a PT Cruiser. I have paid over $500 since January and only when I went to use it, learned it was worthless. I believe their advertising promises are highly misleading and quite a scam.

I am rejecting this response because: While the response was acceptable, I have seen no sign of the refund promised. I do not want to have them provide incorrect information to Revdex.com and never refund. Their advertisements and booklet 'suggest' that any car service will accept their 'insurance', but I learned that NO =service place in my area of the country was willing to work with them due to slow payment, slow permission for repairs, slow response time. When I receive my refund as promiosed = between $500 and $600 - I will be satisfied with their response.

We have looked into this for you and see that you purchased a Powertrain Gold Service contract for your 2006 Subaru with 135,761 miles. The covered components are addressed during the initial sales call and you have 30 days to look over your service contract terms and call or cancel with a full refund if there is anything in the terms you don't like for any reason.
The repair claim that was recently submitted was for components not listed in your powertrain service contract terms as covered. Struts and power steering pump are not listed as covered under the powertrain service contract.

I'm not satisfied with contract deal which they lied too me saying I'm covered with towing, engine work, battery etc, when it came down to using them I had to pay out of pocket their say my contract only covered nogotiation prices. Another thing will not let me cancel, so I called my credit card company told them to put a hold on paying them they don't have my consent for next month bill.

CarShield Response • Aug 12, 2019

You purchased a repair negotiation membership for $25 on July 22, 2019. It was explained to you at that time what a repair negotiation membership included. Because your engine light was on at the time of purchase, you were not eligible for a service contract as this would have not been covered because it was a pre-existing failure. The repair negotiation would be able to help you right away with making sure your repair facility was charging you a fair rate on parts and labor, and negotiate your bill down to the best price for your area.

This was fully explained during the call.

Your repair negotiation membership has been cancelled as you requested and you have been refunded the $25 you paid back to your Mastercard ending in 6197 on August 10, 2019.
