I took my car my repair facility for routine oil services on May 2, 2019. They were offering what I thought at the time was a complimentary AC service check. I didn't realize that there would be an additional charge for the service (which in my opinion was over priced) so I asked my repair facility not to charge me for the service. There was some miscommunication between me and my repair facility so I asked them to refund the amount of the AC service check. Fast forward to almost two months later my cars AC seem to be blowing hot air. While I assumed my car was just low on freon. I took my car to my repair facility on June 15, 2019 and turns out my compressor needs to be replaced! My repair facility contacts Car Shield to begin the process for the claim and repairs. I reached out to Car Shield when I was unable to reach my repair facility after a week of no communication from Car Shield other than the initial phone call regarding the claim and the representative (which was very rude) informed me that they needed and explanation to why I received a "discount" or "refund". I explained the above and Car Shield has denied my claim stating pre existing issues. How can it be pre existing when I was just a miscommunication between myself and my repair facility? Why ask for my side of the story if you are just going to deny my claim? I have never had an issue in the past with my cars AC until now. Furthermore, I live in Houston, Texas and it is the summer, there is no way I would drive my car for almost two months with no AC! I regret doing business with Car Shield and I would advise anyone not to do the same. This company will NOT be there for you when you need them. They should be ashamed of themselves for taking consumers hard earned money and not rendering any type of service!

CarShield Response • Jul 09, 2019

We have contacted your claims administrator on your behalf to check the status of the repair claim you have mentioned.

They stated a claim was called in for air conditioning issues. They were sent a receipt from your repair facility showing an AC service on 5/2/2019, then that service was backed out and refunded. You also purchased your service contract on 5/2/2019, then called in an AC claim a couple of weeks into active coverage. The claim was denied as the failure pre-existed the effective date of your service contract.

Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you are in the process of being refunded the 2 payments you have made.

I am rejecting this response because:

The response is incorrect. I did not reach out to CarShield a couple of weeks after my contract date. In fact, it was a couple of months.

I am requesting a full refund of $294 for services not rendered, not a partial of $147.

Purchased an extended warranty for my car. Unfortunately two weeks ago I had a transmission problem and according to the company I can take my car to any shop for repairs and it will be fixed. NOT SO!!!! Car was brought into a shop recommended by a good friend. I and the shop made the calls to carshield to report the problem. We were told (me and the shop) that an inspector will be there to see the car within 48 hours and again not so.
Inspector did not show up until Friday and that was when they take out the monthly payment for the plan so I made another payment. Waited until Tuesday to get the results back and their answer was to deny the repairs. The transmission got water in it from the radiator failing and because of that they denied the claim. I was under the impression and so does the transmission shop that the radiator is part of the drive train since it cools the engine and transmission but they say so and my coverage did not include the radiator. I asked for a refund of the money I have paid and was almost laughed at. The person on the phone said they don't give refunds because they provided a service. This company is a scam because I after my situation and my fault I researched them and found the same hundreds of time over and over. They will tell you anything over the phone to get you to sign up but will NOT deliver on what they said. They are a fraud in my yes

I've had this coverage on my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 250 as of March 1, 2018, the requirement of 1000 miles in 90 days has been met. On the date above I took my truck in for repairs on my front drive axle which would cost $238.46 (see copy of repair sheet). *** approved it and the work was done to my satisfaction. Customer Response • Jul 16, 2019

As stated before the company CarShield will use every excuse in the world not to pay for any claim. I found it quite funny they offered $748.19 back to me, it would close out my warranty with CarShield. That's about what I have already paid to have my truck fixed under their so called warranty, that I have already paid around $2000 for the 4 year warranty.

That's really a stupid response to my claims. I have already contacted the State Attorney of Louisiana about this company. I will do a follow up on the internet about my concerns with this so called company. I'm not satisfied with anything this company has to offer.

Have called three times today. I expect many more. Beg them to stop, they continue with their pitch. I've requested no info and have never done business with them. Sure as heck won't in the future.

I, *** contract number *** would like to cancel my policy on the grounds of false advertisement. Your company promised me that if any part of my power train in my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 were to break, that you would fix it with only $100 deductible. However I followed all your steps and had to wait two weeks while being lied to by your company representatives about the status or paperwork. I'm a single father of two small children and work as a firefighter/EMT full time for the Department of Defense on a 48-hour work week. This has put serious pressure on me and been a major inconvenience for my extended family, friends and coworkers.

I had a 2014 Toyota Corolla and I traded it in for a 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. My warranty on 2014 Corolla expires at 60,000 miles and Carshield warranty started at 60,000-100,000 miles. I sold 2014 Toyota, the mileage was less than 52,500 miles when I sold it. This took place on May 31, 2019. For cancellation I had to write a letter to them as per contract on page 14 of 15 to American Auto Shield, LLC. I stopped payment soon after because I had 8 more payments. Contract price $3,093.00.

Yesterday I had agreed to purchase the extended warranty through Carshield on the phone, but I had time to think about it and it isn't going to fit in my budget. So I called Carshield back at their customer service number and a guy by the name of Steven answered. I told him that I had changed my mind about purchasing this product due to the fact I got hurt and it's not going to fit in my budget. He was very rude to me, he asked questions that were not appropriate at all. And since he acted as though he did not want to cancel my order, I asked him to let me speak to someone else and he denied me that option and tried to push the product on me. I asked him for a confirmation number and he would not give it to me so that I would believe that the order was canceled and then he hung up on me. So to protect myself I will cancel my debit card. The people that they have working for this company are rude and unprofessional. I rated them one star and they don't even deserve that. Their score should be an F, OR 0.

I purchased carshield over two years ago. Spent over two thousand dollars. They plan is not true to what they are selling.. My air conditioning in my car went out, they say take it to any shop and we will pay no out of pocket to customer.. Lies, the shop I took my car to was more than they wanted to pay. So they say you either take our part or we are only paying this amount. I still have out of pocket cost. They hung up on me twice. First it was Anita in customer service the it was Mike.. After my car was done got authorization from on Friday. Had to wait for part to come on Monday to get car fixed.. Then had to fax over for payment, the shop where my car was closrs at 5 eastern time and their on mountain time.. I was 85 in stack of papers and they wouldn't pull it so I could get my car.. I am a dialysis patient who do treatment everyday.. They still wouldn't send payment over until next day.. At this point I want a refund and policy cancelled.. I paid out to much money for them not to guve me good service... They are very rude and unprofessional.

I had a prior Revdex.com Complaint filed in April with Carshield after they tried to not pay my claim by supposedly mixing my file up with another. And that was only resolved because Revdex.com got involved, The mechanic on my car said they had 26.2 logged hours over the 2.5 months it took to get my car warranty claim settled. Two times in the month of May I was promised that they had paid and sent the check for my car rental reimbursement. No check still as of today. The last call was 5/21 and they said it would be here no later than 10 days. I have went round and round and usually it takes an hour to get someone on the phone. I still have not got my reimbursement from May. I sent in a cancellation of my warranty because of the horrible service that was received and deception and they are blowing up my phone. Never would they call you back when it came to them delivering service. My mechanic who has been in business for 27 years stated that he has never dealt with such an awful company and practice. They wanted to bill for the 26.2 hours logged waiting on the phone. There is so much more invoived. However, at this point, I want 100% reimbursement on the car rental. Not just for the car, but for the insurance I needed. Again, they only said 10 days for a rental car, I had to borrow 3 peoples vehicles over that time and obtained damage on some of them. They would not approve the claim for so long until the end and finally said they would allot 10 days. 10 days over a 2 and a month period, that is crazy. Again, I have not received that check in the mail that I was told twice by their employees was in the mail. I am a single mother, I need your help! Thanks

I have been trying to get an approval since May 29, 2019 and today is June 24th, 2019. It has now been 27 days with no approval nor a denial. Just stalling. The whole process has been ridiculous. I have made phone call after phone calls. Every time, I try to get a claim representative the wait time is 30 minutes. One day I call from the repair shop to wait on hold for 2hours and 11mins. A representative finally answers only to tell you they have to transfer to someone else (and adjuster) and the wait time is 30-40 minutes additional minutes. Needless to say, the mechanic shop has the same issue trying to contact the adjuster. Simply ridiculous!
You are able to speak with the representative immediately to purchase the contract. With NO wait time, imagine that. I bought the policy back in July 2018 for a piece of mind type of assurance. I have paid them $192.12 monthly since July 2018. My vehicle broke down this year and was towed to a shop in my local area where they had informed me that the Car shield warranty representatives will do everything not to have to pay the repairs. They have turned out to be CORRECT! When I purchased Carshield I was assured they would pay for the service to my vehicle, which in this case was the timing belt/chain to my 2006 BMW 530I. The timing belt is a listed and covered under my policy. The miles have been verified and they are telling me that the car looks like it hasn’t been driven in a while but the car been siting for weeks. I have payed for these repairs out of my pocket. I bought a new car therefore, the BMW has not been driven as much. Therfore my inspection sticker had been out. That is not proof that the car hasn’t been driven. Car has always had full coverage insurance and drivable.
First thing, Carshield said my Vin numbers didn’t match. So, I sent a copy of the registration card to confirm the Vin Number.
Second then they then asked me to send maintenance reports for the 12 months. And I did so.
Third, then they said they checked car fax and saw it was taken to one another shop and they need that. So, I sent that in. I have proven my paid out of pocket maintenance to my car.
Maintenance report showed I had made over $1500.00 out of pocket prior to contract. And another $1000.00 out of my pocket prior my car breaking down. My car has been sitting for weeks at the shop for repairs. And of today June 24, 2019 I have yet to hear back from an adjuster and only to be placed on hold for over an hour every time that I call to try to get an status update. I have have made over 32 call to Carsheild only to continue to be put off and told an adjuster will call me back. I still I have NO answer or response. Totally unacceptable and a rip off.
This Carshield warranty is definitely a SCAM. They will find every excuse NOT to pay for any of the repairs and will NOT honor the Warranty that you have purchased from them. CARSHIELD WARRANTY’s GOAL IS TO NOT APPROVE REPAIRS but take your money and profit from the SCAM.

I am rejecting this response because:
What the claims administrator, American Auto Shield, stated is a flat out LIE that is stated. My contract was for 30 days and 1,000 miles or 90 days and 200 Miles from sale date waiting period. The effective date of my contract was July 24, 2018. I was within/pass the active coverage period of 90 days and 200 miles. My service contract miles was also a LIE that was reported by Auto Shield. My service contract was set up with your reported mileage of 202,214. At the time my claim was submitted I was 672 miles into active coverage. Therefore failure and stretching of my timing chains did occurred within my initial waiting period and is covered under my contract according to the terms.
The claim administrator's offered the repair negotiation services to me once I called on 7/2/2019 to CANCEL my services. As a matter of fact the claim adjuster reopened my case and forwarded to a higher adjuster supposedly. And I get this response. I see it as another way to scam me as the customers in order to be able to by time and continue to draft my payments. But not offering to approve my repairs. This warranty is advertised as a peace of mind for cars repairs NOT so. and the UNTRUTHS continue as they not only lie to the customer but have responded directly to the Revdex.com written LIES also. I took it to the local Cadillac dealership and found out that the lifter spring had broken. I explained to them that they need to contact Car shield for authorization to repair. Claims denied the work, stating that it happened before one day. That’s not the case, my contract clearly states on the effective date is 06/18/2019. Your claims administrator denied the repair claim because the failure occurred within your 20 day waiting period. Whether you took it in to the shop on the 19th or 21st day is irrelevant if the failure was shown to have occurred within your 20 day waiting period.

You requested cancellation on June 26, 2019 and have received and been credited your full refund of the one payment you made as of June 27, 2019.

NO stars ! I brought my car in for a transmission repair and the shop frowned at us mentioning that CarShield is a company that will drag you down forever with excuses . The transmission in my car is notorious for failure regardless of regular maintenance but Carshield insist that the transmission needs to be torn down without any promise of a repair , they also said we would receive a free rental car but will only pay for it on reimbursement and that we can only get it AFTER they approve the repair that is sitting at the shop as the shop gets the big run-around on the phone for hours . This very reputable transmission shop says that this company is a shady scam and will only wear you down trying to get any type of results , it is very disgusting that Carshield has such a very misguided commercial ! I got this coverage only to discover false hope when I am in dire need . At first I believed that I had no worries with a company that brags about taking care of your major repairs . I think a class action lawsuit should be established against such a fraudulent company .

We cannot locate an account for you with the information you have provided. If you can provide your VIN number or contract number, we would be happy to look into this matter for you.

TV ads shown in California claim CarShield will cover repairs. However, after purchasing the program and covering two vehicles at $25/mo./vehicle, we were informed that CarShield (through ***) does not provide that extent of car repair, as advertised, in California. We re-watched their TV ad - screen by screen- several times for any "fine print" about that and could not see anything. Also, during conversations when purchasing the program, no mention of this exception was made. On top of that, we contacted CarShield and the program was transferred or something to ***. We cancelled the program once we learned of this deception and it was a challenge to do that because of the CarShield-*** thing. BEWARE......

We cannot locate a customer with the information provided.

I received a letter from this business informing me that I did not contact them to activate my vehicle service contract. Everything looks official with veiled threats i.e. I will be responsible for paying any repairs if something happens, etc.. The only problem is: I do not have a car! I find this sort of scared tactics disgusting. If this reaches someone with a car, that person could get worried, call this business and probably get hooked into buying something they don't need!

Revdex.com:

The business asked for the customer i.d. *** to remove my name from their file. Please forward it to them, thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

I was being called several times from sales agents from car shield since January of 2019 and have been receiving mail in offers since the year 2018 and finally I was given a offer over the pone which I was not able to decline on 04/08/2019 and I ended up buying a policy. the sales agent made me completely assured that I will have a complete piece of mind and everything will be covered as per the policy agreement. unfortunately in june-2019 my car just stopped going in to the reverse gear and was taking time for it to switch in to reverse for which I immediately contacted my dealership as all the maintenance was up to date I was advised it as a mechanical failure. I took the car to the *** transmission to get a second opinion on it and they ran some tests on it as instructed by car shield and everything came out to be as a mechanical failure there was no electrical failure which car shield was hoping to look for as they don't cover electrical failures. after chasing the adjusters over the phone and waiting on hold for several hours both me and the repair shop we finally spoke with katie on 06/19/2019 who was an adjuster she took all the readings from the repair shop and asked them to take authorization to pull the tranny down but wanted to see something broken inside the transmission and if they don't see anything broken then me the customer has to pay for the repairs worth 4000$ the repair shop manager was surprised as he has been dealing with them for 15 days running all the tests they wanted and they all came out as a genuine mechanical issue as written in the contract and should have been covered but now a run around started to find something broken inside the transmission, adjuster never specified what part needs to be found broken to be covered. the workshop manager told me what they are saying in other words is that they dont want to pay even though its a covered mechanical failure which clearly is writen in the contract. I ended up paying the workshop for the time the car was with them and had to cancel the policy because I was no getting the promised service and I asked for a refund due to not honoring the contract by the issuer for which I got hungup, the phone reps raised there voice and were not even willing to cancel the policy or hae me speak o a manager or supervisor.
and its notonly me there are so many people out there who have been scammed like this by this same company YELP is full of original customer reviews and issues unlike *** where they have there fake reviews posted and many of the profiles who reviewd on *** dont even exist.

We appreciate the opportunity to look into this matter for you. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We have contacted your claims administrator regarding this repair. They stated that the next step to move forward with the claim was to have your shop diagnose to cause of failure so they can determine if the failure is covered under your contract terms. You did not want to move forward with diagnosis.

We have noted in your filed that you chose to cancel your service contract, rather than move forward with the repair claim. You're service contract has been cancelled as you requested and you will be issued a full refund.

Regards,

Customer Relations
