Carshield is very unprofessional and horrible service. I purchased the car plan for my truck but then cancelled. I noticed over a month later they had not refunded me as my confirmation indicated but also went back and charged me again. I called and was told it was a mistake and I am not sure how this was over looked. A couple days later I received the email for the refund but for what crazy reason one payment was charged back to my card and the other was being mailed. I called and pretty much this is the policy and I have to be inconvenience with this. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CARSHIELD. That is why I cancelled because of an experience a friend had with them. Now I see it is true what I was told and read.
We have canceled your service contract as you requested. You stated that you had found you already had coverage through your dealership. The down payment made was refunded back to your MasterCard ending in 2918 on February 6, 2019 and the remaining refund due was mailed to the address we have on file on February 7, 2019 in the amount of $79.00, check #26375. You have been refunded in full.
You are correct I have received both refunds one of which I should not have been charged. As it relates to your response about I found out I had coverage with the dealer I am not sure where that came from because that is incorrect. I informed you that I found coverage with another company that provides the service as ***. My issue was not when I was going to get the refund but the method and customer service. Thank you
Phone conversation was like wrestling. They don't stop talking, become louder and more aggressive as conversation becomes longer, act like they really care about you and actually become somewhat angry when you don't accept what they offer. I recall at one point that I just asked a simple question and she shot back, ma'am, that's fraud. I'm a senior, 76 and the woman on the other end made me uncomfortable and literally wore me down. I kept saying thank you for your time, I am unable to do this. I kept repeating goodbye and that I was done, she kept talking like rapidly and hotly. They told me they were a Fortune 500 co. And had the Revdex.coms triple rating. That they were the largest call center in the Midwest located right here in O'fallen, MO. It was scary! I finally just hung up.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will review the call and take any disciplinary action necessary. Our representatives are trained to be nothing but polite and informative and we apologize if your experience with our representative was anything less than that.
I had signed up with carshield and they explained what was covered in the booklet, However they did not say that their inspectors have to come out to inspect the car to make sure, but thats not the issue. I had brought the car to multiple mechanics and they all said it was the water pump and radiator which states it is covered in the booklet. The mechanics all said it was a water pump and radiator the booklet covers the water pump and radiator but when the inspector inspected it they denied it saying we hear it making a noise but we don't see the need for it to be changed but they agreed to change the radiator. So I had to pay out of pocket for the water pump and it was 300, we also had to wait 2 weeks for the radiator because they did not want to pay the mechanic for the radiator as they had found one cheaper. The inspector was sick and they never followed up with us to tell us that which almost prompted my mechanic to charge me a storage fee. I tried to contact them multiple times and they responded with sorry he's sick but will get back to you when he can. This has been nothing but a Hassel and I want a refund for the months I have paid to be with them. There booklet policy never states what they claim when you set up a claim
We contacted the administrator of your service contract, ***, to check the status of your repair claim. They stated that there was a claim filed for the radiator and hoses. The repair facility could not demonstrate any failure to the water pump, just a slight play on the water pump shaft bearing. *** cannot approve replacing the water pump with no failure was demonstrated.
*** approved the labor for the radiator and ordered the part to be sent to your facility. They are waiting for the final invoice from your repair facility to see if there are any shop supplies added to the coverage portion of your repair.
You state in this complaint that you would like to cancel your service contract. We will let *** know that you have chosen to cancel your coverage. Your repair claim will be suspended and you will be refunded in full for the payments you have made on your service contract.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely
Received a letter saying my 1 year old car saying that its out of warranty. Clearly a *** and not part of the dealership. Hyundai has a 5 yr warranty. This so called business is sending without their return address on outside of envelope. Please also note Revdex.com gives them an F rating. Don't buy anything like this through the mail.

Your service contract was mailed out twice to the address you provided to us. We do apologize that you never received it. We were going to email it to you as well, but you did not provide us with an email address.
We have cancelled your service contract as you requested and are in the process of refunding you in full.

I was a customer from September 1, 2018 until January 11, 2019 when you cancelled my contract ***. I was told the information I gave to sales person Larry West was not the actual mileage on my odometer. I told *** that I was not sure if that was correct but I knew that the mileage was low. My trouble began with car Shield when the starter in my Sonata went. Doc's were sent to you from the NV DMV with mileage along with info they wanted from the auto repair shop. After days of being on the phone for hours and sitting at the repair shop trying to find out the status of my claim on day 6 I was told my contract was cancelled. How lousy to do this to a senior (83 yrs) to needed her car for church, shopping, etc.
As the administrator of your service contract has voided the contract for a mileage misrepresentation, you are being refunded in full.
A refund for the payments made will be credited back to your *** card ending in ***. *** generally takes approximately 3-5 business days to show the credits to you account.

I went on line to get information on Car Shield 02/05/2019 I was called within 10 minutes. The First Lady that called was so nice then I was transferred to another lady that went over what the policy covered. She spoke extremely fast, so I found it hard to keep up with what she was talking about. I finally told her I would call back after I thought about it. She said what’s the issue the $135.00 or what, I told her I wanted to check the background...but I would call back. Click! I was hung up on. If that doesn’t make you feel like you should call back I don’t know what will. Rude and so unprofessional. After coming on Revdex.com I will not call take out a policy with Car Shield.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will certainly review the call and take any appropriate action necessary. We train our representatives to be nothing more than polite and informative and apologize if our representative was anything less than that.
I called Carshield for a warranty on my car per their solicitation that came in the mail. I am a pilot and was in a hotel room when I called them and I estimated the milage on my car at 69,000 miles when in fact the mileage was lower than that approximately 59,000. I drove the car for almost three months and when I had a problem I took the car into get looked at and gave them the warranty information. Carshield would not pay for the car to be fixed because the the mileage on the car was less than I had estimated when in the hotel room. They told me the contract was void because the mileage was not properly reported and told me they would not cover the cost of the repairs to car ($5800 for the repairs) but they would refund me my premium payments since the contract was void. I had paid $157 per month for three months. Carshield subsequently refunded one month of $157. I just called them to get the other two months refunded and the person I spoke to refused to refund that to me saying when a contract is void and cancelled and they don't pay a claim they are under no obligation to refund the premiums paid. He wanted to focus on how I failed to get the exact mileage reported correctly but I in fact over estimated the milage by on the car by over 10000 miles and they still offered me a policy and, even though my car was in fact in better condition and with less mileage, when they found out they were going to have pay a claim related to the vehicle through the warranty they chose to say the contract was void because of the discrepancy in the miles reported and the actual miles. While I found that practice in and of itself to be to totally unprofessional and disturbing and felt we were being treated unfairly, I was at least told my premiums would be refunded since the contract was void and they were cancelling it. Now the company will not even refund the entirety of our premiums. They suggest they have no obligation to fulfill any duties under the contract yet argue that they are entitled to keep the value exchanged by us which triggered their duties under the contract. This is utterly unacceptable and a very unethical, if not illegal, business practice. I am not currently pursuing them for the coverage of my car despite feeling as though I may have a claim in that regard if they refuse to refund my other two months of premiums paid a $157 a month (total of $314).
When I talked to Carshield they pushed things off on ***, who they refer to as their Administrator, saying that *** is the one who would not pay the claim and said the contract was void and cancelled it. I said I would call *** to pursue the return of the remainder of the premiums I paid and they told me that *** would just refer me back to Carshield. Based on this and the fact that Carshield is the company that took my premiums, refused to fulfill the contract, said the contract was void and they would return my premiums and now refuses to do so, I am reaching out to you for help.
Carshield had our credit card number and directly refunded the amount equivalent to a one month payment for the plan without ever consulting with us. I never said I was okay with that solution to our disagreement nor did I cash a check that they sent because that was not how they did it.
The administrator/obligor of your service contract voided your service contract due to a large mileage misrepresentation at the time you set up your coverage. The sales representative you spoke with asked you to call back with your exact mileage if the mileage you gave him was not correct. You did not call back to update the mileage at any time.
Your service contract has been cancelled by the administrator and you are in the process of being refunded in full.

I purchased a 75,000 mile plan. There was a 90 day waiting period for my vehicle to be covered. Start mileage on my vehicle on 05/15/2018 was 38,076 and after ONLY driving the vehicle 610 miles and based on my driving habits the typical things I’d expect to require repair are not covered. I canceled my contract. Per my contract I'm entitled to a pro rata refund based upon the total contract price (or total amount of payments made to date which was approximately $1400.00) calculated upon the greater of the days in force or the miles driven compared to the total contract term. When asked how they would perform the pro rata calculation they were not able to tell me eventually I was told they used $1.97 per day the contract was in force. This seems to be a very deceptive practice.
Your service contract was cancelled as you requested on February 1, 2019. Your down payment of 295.00 was credited back to your *** Card ending in ***. The remaining refund balance due of 621.94 was mailed to your *** on February 6, 2019. You have been issued the prorated refund you are due per the service contract's terms and conditions. Total refund comes to $916.94.

I am rejecting this response because:
I dispute the pro rating calculation.
Sincerely
Your contract states, under the cancellation section, "You will receive a pro rata refund based upon the the total purchase price calculated upon the greater of the days in force or the miles driven"
They calculated your refund based on the days in force as that was the greater of the two. Your refund has been calculated correctly based on the terms of your agreement.
Your *** Card has been credited for your 295.00 down payment as of February 1st and the remaining refund of $621.94 was mailed out to you on February 6, 2019.

First off... CarShield palmed me off to some terrible company called American Auto Shield. Why? I don’t know. I thought I was signing on with Carshield! The timing chain stretched and caused the engine to jump time. This required a visit from an inspector. My truck has been in the shop for over 10 (ten) weeks. My truck has over 103,000 so I thought it would be wise to get some coverage in case if something happened. They told me that I had to have the policy 20 days before it would be active. The twenty ninth day my truck broke down. When I called the company to submit a claim I was treated like a criminal. the guy on the phone said "that it is awfully suspicious that my truck broke down just 9 days after the effective date. Then he said how do they know that my truck wasn't broke down before I got the policy? I told him check the mileage and he could see that the truck has been driven.never question my integrity. Then I called in again trying to figure why truck has not been repaired. This time the guy on the phone said that it awfully suspicious that my truck was towed from my residence.,again I told him don't question my integrity. I also stated to him that I am an Ordained Minister and I don't feel like being treated like a crimainal The company has sent 2 (two) inspectors out and they told me that the mechanic has to show " point of failure". He said that he showed the inspectors the problem and the didn't understand him. Then the company sent an"adjuster" out to the shop. he took pictures and sent in his report. the mechanic called him 2 days after he submitted his report . The mechanic was told that the timing chain was stretched and because it had stretched over time it was a pre existing problem and they weren't going to cover it. How am I supposed to know when The timing chain stretches? What about their ad when the lady talks about her A C goes out ? that had to happen over time and she claims that it was paid for through Car shield. The length of this process has caused tension between my girl friend and co workers because of all of the "rides" I have needed. I missed work!! I missed getting paid!! The inspector arrived and agreed... that the engine was damaged and few days to have the engine torn part to find the EXACT cause of failure. This should have been done in front of the inspector!!! I am furious!!! The word of their inspector and 2 master mechanics in my garage wasn’t enough! They wanted to prolong the agony and tear apart the unit!! I was told that I had to pay the mechanic to tear down the engine, so the inspectors could see the damage. I called another time to see what was being done about my truck and I was hung up on. I have called several times over and have been on hold anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and half. the last time I spoke to anyone I was put on hold so long that I had to hang up before anyone answered the phone. Now I have met all of their Criteria and they wont cover my truck.
yes I pay 129.00 a month. The contract is in my name and the contract number is ***.
Thank you

I am rejecting this response because: they have been shown 3 times that the timing belt had been stretched and the adjuster told the mechanic that the timing belt was stretched over time and that the policy was a fairly new one that it probably would not be paid. Now why would the mechanic tell me this?
Sincerely
Your mechanic at the repair facility most likely told you that because he believed that the failure possibly pre-existing the effective date of your service contract. If a needed repair is shown to have pre-existed the effective date of your service contract, it is not a cover-able repair. This is stated during the initial sales call listed in your service contract.
If you are unhappy with ***'s claim adjudication for any reason, there is a dispute resolution section in your service contract. Section M states that any dispute between yourself and the administrator/obligor my be resolved by the Denver Revdex.com's arbitration rules. Any claim dispute would need to be directed toward the contract administrator/obligor, *** located at ***. They would be able to fully address any claims related dispute.

Thank you for canceling my contract and January refund. I started my contract on December 15, 2018.
They took money out of my account too early causing an overdraft charge. I cancelled my agreement with Carshield. I asked for refund of the full amount, plus the overdraft charge. I have not received it. They owe me $251.00. I have called every day they say that they have sent it, but I haven't received.
We show that you were refunded 150.00 back to your *** card ending in *** on December 29, 2018. Your remaining refund of $238.42 was mailed on January 17, 2019. Total refund came to 388.42.

A big Scam!!! They won't honor anything in their own contract. We have been waiting for two weeks for our car to be repaired. Our auto repair shop has called constantly to get a response for an estimate, each time she is put on hold for 30 to 45 minutes. Finally she is told that a inspector would have to come to the auto repair shop and approve any needed repairs, needless to say after his so-called inspection everything that needed to be repaired he said is preexisting. Things that carshield has told our service advisor at the auto repair facility was covered was no longer going to be repaired by carshield. My husband was on the phone today with their customer service dept and they are very rude saying one lie after another. He finally had enough and told them to cancel our policy because everything that needs to be repaired is listed in the contract and they are not standing by their own contract and they are running a total scam. I was advise anyone do not do business with carshield , you will be completely and totally disappointed. Please read all the negative reviews about this company. I wish that we had taken the time to read them.
We contacted the administrator of your service contract on your behalf to obtain information on this claim. They had authorized payment in the amount of $598.99 for the covered components of this repair. They called the repair facility to go over the authorization and they stated that you were coming to pick up your vehicle. Claim was showing as still pending and approved the the amount above.
I purchased a warranty from Carshield in approximately 4/2018. A week or so ago, I began to have issues with my vehicle. I called Carshield and then my car was towed to a repair shop. I spoke to Carshield to make a claim. Carshield does not answer the phone and I am unable to file a claim. My car is sitting at the repair shop. The repair shop is also unable to get ahold of them.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We have contacted the administrator of your service contract, ***, on your behalf. They handle all repair claims for your service contract. We have asked them to contact you as soon as possible regarding this claim.
Please let us know if you do not hear from them within the next 24 hours.

Just there to take money from you. If you have money to pay them you have enough to cover your repairs two times over
After seeing a CarShield commercial I decided to call about a vehicle we just purchased that still had manufacturer's warranty. After walking the salesperson through the details he provided a quote. I explained to him that we will not be making a decision today and I wanted to discuss it with my spouse - his response was lets get her on a conference call. I explained again that I was not making an immediate decision and he was EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE in not accepting that (several times). I explained that I was not making a decision and his continued pressure to make one was unwanted yet he continued. I then let him know I would not be doing business with CarShield and hung up.
What I expected was a call from a manager or another salesperson to try to capture our business however there was NEVER any follow up.
I have mixed feelings as I potentially would have done business with CarShield however the fact that there was no attempt at customer service has made the decision for me - GIANT RED FLAG!!!
Ordered monthly repair contract for late model vehicle. Had plan for nearly 90 days when car had issue that IS COVERED under terms of the contract. CarShiled refuses to pay for issue. I want my money back Carshiled is a RIPOFF and does not honor their false advertisement that is on TV.
We contacted ***, the administrator/obligor of your service contract, to obtain information regarding this claim. They stated that a service record showed your vehicle had 131,989 miles on it on October 24, 2018. When you purchased your service contract on 11/14/2018 you stated your vehicle had 131,989 miles. (same as 10/24/18) Another service record provided showed 132,015 miles on December 31, 2018. Only 26 miles driven since October 24,2018 to December 31, 2018. Then a repair claim was submitted. *** denied the claim as pre-existing the effective date of your service contract.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested.

I am rejecting this response because: There is NO PROVISION that "LIMITS" how many miles must be driven, in order to file a claim. Unfortunately, my vehicle started showing problems shortly after I purchased CarShield. I think that it's also worth noting that I own 3 VEHICLES, and that the car in question was only used on the weekend for errands to haul things, etc. I own a brand new $100K Corvette, and my wife drives a Mercedes convertible, so any claims of fraud on our behalf is ludicrous, to say the least. CarShield's own commercial even states "It's not a matter of IF your vehicle will break down, but "WHEN".
The whole purpose of getting the "Extended Warranty Type Coverage" was because the vehicle was old and had mileage on it. The noises heard when I made the claim DID NOT EXIST prior to me purchasing the policy, and there is no way for CarShield to support their accusation. They simply want to take your money, and then they get to decide who, if anybody, they will approve for claim work to be authorized. Judging from ALL THE SIMILAR STORIES that I have since uncovered on line, on Yelp, and other Revdex.com sites, this appears to be how this company does business. It is not right, it is false advertisement, and warrants a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. I would like for my 3 months of "Premiums" to be refunded, immediately, and without prejudice. Nothing short of this will be acceptable.
Sincerely
The administrator of your service contract has full authority over claim adjudication. If you have a dispute regarding *** decision to deny your repair claim for failure pre existing the effective date of your service contract, you would need to direct that dispute toward American Auto Shield as the administrator/obligor of your contract. AAS would be able to fully address any claim related disputes.
Section M of your service contract outlines dispute resolution. You can direct any dispute regarding a claim decision through the Denver Revdex.com toward ***

If I could give this company a 0 I would! I purchased car shield specifically telling their company I wanted a extended warranty. He told me I've come to the right place that for 24.99 I'd be getting coverage on repairs and labor based on my mileage on the car at the time and assistance with getting parts cheaper and I'd have to pay 30% of whatever the part and service would be I was also told that if my car was in the shop for 4hrs or more I'd be able to get a rental car. Unlucky me my car actually needed this company shortly after purchase only to be left on hold on 1/28/19 for 2hrs and 1hr for the shop. I recieved the booklet in the mail the day I put my car in the shop and read through it to find out none of the things I was told was accurate. No one knew the answers to my questions I finally got through to someone the next day who took time to explain things and talk to the dealership on 3 way only for me to have to pay full price on my labor, parts and service! THEN!!! I called car shield back to cancel my account hes still trying to sell me something else for roadside assistance I stated I wouldn't have never signed up if I knew clearly what I was buying because I already have *** for roadside assistance and he said well were better than ***! I assertively told him I NEED A EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR MY CAR WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS SIGNING UP FOR!!! then he responds oh we cant sell you a extended warranty in the state of California! WOW!!!!!! Please dont waste your time with this company they aren't clear or honest about wht they are selling you and if your unfortunate like I am to have to use them you'd be greatly disappointed and dissatisfied with their customer service alone!!!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We appreciate the opportunity to respond. We reviewed the sales call and the sales representative stated that your vehicle qualified for our auto gold card membership and explained that this is a repair negotiation membership with roadside assistance that you can use right away. You can save up to 30% on any repair for $24.99 per month. Purchase of an extended service contract was never mentioned. Your membership has been cancelled as you requested and you have been refunded in full.
According to advertisement, they suggest an amount to pay and they will make repairs to your vehicle. I have a 2002 Cadillac DeVille and I have had the contract since September 2018. About 3 weeks ago, I found out I have a cracked block in my vehicle. I called and they sent out a claims adjuster and he looked the issue over and said it will be covered. I called the office after the fact and they said they will not cover and something about a stress level from GM. I have never heard this and no where is this included in any of the paperwork about the policy. I had to come out of pocket $8000 to fix my car. I also just found out they should be giving suggestions on shops to find the cheapest place to fix the vehicle. I never got this.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We can see by our notes in your file that we spoke with you on January 29th regarding future part sourcing, if needed, and we were able to discount your service contract's monthly cost.
Please contact our customer service department at *** if we can help you with anything further.

I wave a warranty with this company and I have a claim open with hem under number XXXX. For 2 weeks the mechanic has and my car waiting on the adjuster. At 1st they were told that there was a mileage issue, I emailed over my docs as well as the dealership docs showing the mileage when the vehicle was purchased. That was on Wednesday Jan 23rd. I spoke to the adjuster who stated that the mechanic had to contact the adjuster in the drive train dept, since Thursday the 24th, the mechanic has been calling and not getting a response. I have called and my fiance has called and still no response. All I want is the adjuster to contact the mechanic or answer the phone when they call so they can start fixing my car. They don't have a problem taking the payments out of my account but takes 2 weeks for a claim. I have to pay people to take me back and forth to work and this is causing emotional stress on me. I need my claim worked on and I need my car fixed. I would like a call to my cell phone or my fiance. I thank you advance
We have contacted the administrator/obligor of your service contract, XXXX, on your behalf. XXXXX has stated that the flywheel is broken out in the middle. Your vehicle needs a new flywheel to fix the failure.
Under the Powertrain Gold Service Contract that you purchased, the flywheel is not listed as a covered component.
There are many components of your vehicle's engine, transmission, cooling system, drive axle, air conditioning, electrical system and fuel system that are covered under your Powertrain Gold service contract. However the flywheel is not one of them.
XXXXX has been in business since 2002 and understands that their customer purchase their vehicle service contracts in good faith. Therefore, in order to treat all their customer's fairly, they can only authorize claims that fall within the terms and conditions of the vehicle service contract.

We would be happy to refund you in full all monies paid into your service contract.
However, you were not lied to. The covered components under the powertrain gold extended service contract were outlined in the initial sales call and you received your service contract in the mail to review. You were told you had 20 business days to read over the service contract and review it. If there was anything in the service contract you were not happy with for any reason, you had 20 business days to call and cancel with a full refund during that time.
The claim presented was for a failed flywheel. This is not listed as a covered component under your powertrain service contract and our representative never stated the flywheel was covered.
We will cancel your service contract as you requested and issue you a full refund as a gesture of good will.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID XXX, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
