CarShield Reviews (%countItem)

This company applies high sales pressure tactics and once they have your contact info, they leave repeated calls and recorded messages, multiple times a day. They have my work phone number and their message states "If you do not respond to this message we will no longer reach out, yet for two weeks straight I am getting the same calls from them, on average of 1 per hour. I do not wish to speak to anyone from that company yet they try to force you to because that is the only way that you can stop the calls. I don't even owe them any money. I feel this is harassment and will not stop.

CarShield Response • Oct 29, 2018

We have not called or spoken with you since July 26, 2018. If you are receiving multiple calls, they are not being placed by CarShield.

We have removed you from our mailing and call list. You should receive no further contact from CarShield.

Ladies and Gentlemen I AM PISSED. I bought a 2008 Ford Taurus X Limited last year and decided that it would be wise to cover my vehicle just in case anything happens to it. I WAS qualified for the "PowerTrain" coverage but I am now finding out that this company is a TOTAL RIP OF! I took my car to a Certified Ford Dealership Service Center. They took my information and was ready to file my claim. Approximately less than 5 minutes later they called me back and stated that CAR SHIELD VOIDED my contract because they could not determine the mileage on my vehicle. That's total BS!!! First of all it IS ILLEGAL to ROLLBACK ODOMETER MILEAGE!!! My car is registered and the title is in my name. Moter Vehicle Division WILL NOT give you a title if you "supposedly" have tainted mileage. So they cancelled my coverage on site PLUS forced me to have to pay for a $140 diagnostic that was supposed to be covered with my contract. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I want ALL MONEY REFUNDED, MY DOWN PAYMENT REFUNDED AND REIMBURSED FOR MY DIAGNOSTIC THAT I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET THAT WAS ''SUPPOSED" TO BE COVERED IN MY CONTRACT!!!!!

CarShield Response • Oct 23, 2018

We contacted the administrator of your service contract on your behalf to obtain information regarding your complaint. They stated that they have voided your service contract because the true mileage of your vehicle cannot be determined. CarFax Shows the vehicle had of 195K miles on in back in 2013, and you gave mileage at the time your set up your coverage of 125,525. Since your just purchased this vehicle in November of 2017, this mileage issue happened before you owned the vehicle. However, the fact remains that the odometer is inaccurate and your vehicle cannot be covered under these circumstances.
You will be refunded in full for all monies you have paid into your service contract.

Customer Response • Oct 23, 2018

When can I expect to receive a refund?

They lied to me about my unlimited coverage to protect my vehicle from engine, transmission, alternator, electrical system,, among other things to be cover under the warranty. They lure you to tell you what you wanna hear and when you need repairs they turn the str[pts on you.. The don't hesitate to take your money out of your credit or bank account. My 2005 Cadillac SRX in need of repair and the con me big time.

CarShield Response • Oct 29, 2018

We contacted the administrator/obligor of your service contract to check on the repair claim you have mentioned. *** stated that no claims have been called into their claims adjusters. They show no notes in your file. According to ***, your repair facility did not call the claims number to initiate a repair claim. We see that you called CarShield on October 17th and requested cancellation of your service contract. As a gesture of goodwill, we will refund both of your $99.00 down payment and your 1 monthly payment of $99.00. The down payment of $99.00 will be refunded to your *** and the monthly payment of $99.00 will be mailed to you within 7-10 days.Respectfully,Customer Relations

In April 2017 I accepted an offer from Car Shield for an Extended Auto Warranty on my 2012 Chrysler Town and Country. I have paid them about $3215 since then. Recently my Chrysler would not start so I towed it to ***. They told me that the problem was the Total Integrated Power Module (TIPM). *** contacted Car Shield and Car Shield said they would not pay for the repair because it was not on the itemized list of covered electrical components on the contract page T1. Does Car Shield really expect customers to know every part on their car before signing a contract? Their advertisements for example: *** are miss leading. Testimonials in ad say "When we need repairs Car Shield was there for us." and "When your car needs repair you take it to your favorite mechanic or dealer and Car Shield gets them paid directly." My car would not run without this part; yet Car Shield would not cover this repair! Their ads are deceptive!!!

We are in receipt of your complaint regarding your *** Pre-owned Extended Service Contract. We appreciate your concern and the opportunity to respond. We contacted ***, the administrator/obligor of your extended service contract. They show a paid repair claim for an alternator in the amount of $696.22 on February 2, 2018. Your most recent repair claim, submitted for a total integrated power module, was denied by *** because this part is not listed as a covered component under the service contract's terms and conditions you purchased. When you purchased your service contract on April 11, 2017, the listed components were gone over during the sales call. You were also mailed a copy of your service contract and given a 60 day free look period to read over the covered components. If you had decided to cancel within the first 60 days, you would have received a full refund, minus any claims paid. After the first 60 days, cancellation refund would be prorated, per your contract's terms and conditions. *** correctly adjudicated the claim denial, as the TIPM is not listed as a covered component. Any dispute regarding ***'s claim denial would need to be directed toward ***, as they are the Service Provider/Obligor of your contract and have full authority over claims procedures, approvals and denials. *** contact information is listed on the first page of your booklet. If you are not happy with your contract for any reason, you may choose to cancel your contract and receive a prorated refund. We would be willing to waive the 100.00 cancellation fee as a gesture of goodwill. After your paid claim of 696.22 is deducted from your prorated refund amount; you would receive $1904.83. Or, you may choose to retain your coverage for future covered repairs. Please let us know how we can help you.

In our initial response to you we stated, "If you are not happy with your contract for any reason, you may choose to cancel your contract and receive a prorated refund. Called Car Shield initially on 10/11/18 I had already done research and I knew they were agents for Administrators American Auto Shield which they did not want to admit until I pressed fhem and that was the first deception! I spoke with what they called the “evaluation unit” they quoted me $99 mo, $100 deductible for new car coverage with ZERO down and can cancel anytime! I was given a number to call back as I wanted to check car shield reviews as this sounded ridiculous!!! So on 10/17/18 after calling other companies, I went back to car Shield but used the online tool for a quote. They left 5 messages for me. after I completing the online quote request...they were ***x, and some others last person was *** who repeated the same offer...after he updated my phone number, I asked him to fax the quote because I looked online to American Shield, I did not see a contract like what they offered me...I told him I want my daughter who is an attorney wanted to look it over...He said okay, took down my email address then immediately cut me off! No they did not get me in their deceptive web like many of the reviews I read but I still wanted to inform people to BE CAREFUL and if it sounds too good, it is because they are LIARS!!! I will also report this to other agencies!

.I WAS SOLD A FULL WARRANT FROM CAR SHIELD. I TOLD THE SALES REP FROM THE BEGINNING WHY MY VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS SO HIGH. IT IS A WORK VEHICLE I USE FOR BUSSINESS. TOLD 4 TO 5 TIMES, ALL RECORDED I BELIEVE. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH TRUCK TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP, HAD A DIAGNOSTIC RUN TO CONFIRM. SENT EVERTHING THEY ASK FOR INCLUDING MECANICS INFO. I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO WORK WHILE TRUCK IS DOWN. ENTERPRISE 70.00 PR DAY PLUS TAX. I WAITED AND WAITED , THEN THEY CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THEY WERE CANCELLING MY POLICY BECAUSE IT IS A WORK TRUCK. THEY WERE TOLD THIS MAY TIMES . VERY DECEPTIVE BUSINESS, NOW I HAVE RENT FOR 4 MORE DAYS FOR MECHANIC TO FIX.

We have contacted the administrator of your service contract, ***, on your behalf. ***, the administrator/obligor of the Powertrain Service Contract you purchased, has full authority of the administration and claims procedures regarding the Powertrain Service Contract. Although you stated that your vehicle was not registered as commercial, they voided your service contract due to commercial use and have refunded all monies you paid into your service contract, in full.

On August 23, 2018, after seeing a commercial from CARSHIELD about guarantee warranty coverage for your vehicle. I decided to purchase a contract with this company to cover repairs to my car. So, after I received my contract and two months into the contract my air conditioning system needed repairs. So, I had taken the vehicle to a shop that specialize in auto air problems. However, the auto air shop called CASHIELD and gave them a quote for the repairs CARSHIELD decided that they were not going to pay the claim. I called them to ask why and this is the one of their reason "Too many labor hours (5.5) to fix the problem" they said, " we have a national book on how many hours it would take to fix air condition problem, according to them should take 1 hour to fix problem. I talk to auto air repair shop and they said that there is know way that job could be complete in one hour. So, the auto air shop mechanic gave me all of the information for the repairs and told me to call Dodge Chrysler AutoNation dealer and get a quote from them for that repair job. However, the labor hours for the repair job with Dodge Chrysler AutoNation would be 6.5 hours to complete the repairs. To make a long story short CARSHIELD did not pay the claim to fix repair the automobile, I had to pay for the repairs of $500.00 dollars out of my picket. When I first tried to make a claim the lady in customer service told me that I did not have to take car to a dealership for the repairs. So, they had no plans to fix car from the beginning of the contract. I tried numerous times to get the understanding but had no luck and I cancel the service of CARSHIELD.

CarShield Response • Oct 23, 2018

We contacted American Auto Shield, the administrator/obligor or your Monthly *** Contract on your behalf to obtain information regarding your repair claim.

American Auto Shield uses All Data to confirm labor hours charged by repair facilities. An adjuster from American Auto Shield should be in contact with you shortly regarding your repair claim and labor hours. They will be able to assist you with any questions you have regarding this claim and labor hours authorized or increased.

3 months ago I signed up for Car Shield’s top Diamond package which is over 5K. I even recommended 2 friend signed which one did the other is about to. My car has an oil leak and because of it oil splattered all over the engine. Diagnostics needed to be done to pressure the system to pin point the issue (they wont pay). Engine cleanup, they will not pay for. Engine belt tensioner (turns the engine belt) is saturated in oil. They say because it hasn’t failed, they will not pay. If that goes back on, it will fail and damage the engine. All of this comes out to over $700 out of pocket including my deductible.

We checked in with the administrator of your service contract, Interstate National Dealer Services, to obtain information regarding this repair claim. Interstate let us know that your repair claim was approved on October 10, 2018 in the amount of $894.21 to replace the serpentine belt and the oil fitter housing gasket.

A letter came to my address indicating that the vehicle warranty had expired and wanting to actvate services. Letter was written to my son with information about my vehicle. My son's name with my address and my car information. When I called to find out how that happened I was put on hold for 15 minutes and told that these letters go out to the address where the vehicle is located. Still no explanation of how my son got connected to my car. He does not live at my address. With that he became negative and snickered as I told him that I would be filing a complaint because he had no explanation as to where this information came from that my son owned my car.

CarShield Response • Oct 08, 2018

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We do apologize for the mistake on the mailed advertisement you received.

There is the rare occasion that one of our data providers uses cross tabulated information on their data spreadsheet. When this occurs it can merge family members information together, in error.

We have removed this information from our data base. We do not sell or provide any data we have on file to other businesses.

Again, we apologize for the error and any inconvenience this has caused.

This company calls me multiple times a day from hundreds of different numbers. Always trying to sell me a warranty on a car I do not own. Whenever I say to take me of their calling list the user always hangs up the phone. I am on the DNC list so they should not be calling me anyways. Now they have found out my new car and now are sending me warranty letters to my home saying that I have failed to register my car's warranty. Numbers include:
*** and many many many more

CarShield Response • Oct 07, 2018

We would be happy to remove you from our mailing list. However, we show no calls to the number you have provided in this complaint.

Our company does not "cold call" consumers. We only call prior customers whose contract is nearing expiration, or consumers who have requested information via our website. Consumers are often times receiving calls from other marketing companies, then receive one of our mailed advertisements and assume the calls are coming from our company as well. That is not the case.

We have removed the address you have provided in this complaint from our mailing list. You should receive no further mailed advertisements from us. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

My elderly father who is 83 years old saw this company advertise on TV. He called and signed up for the service, and paid the initial fee with his debit card over the phone, but said he made it very clear that he DID NOT want his monthly payment to be automatically debited from his account, and that he would mail a check for payment each month. When he got his bank statement, there was an auto debit for the next payment. He was very upset and wanted to cancel the service, so we called Carshield and they said the only way to pay is by auto payment and refused to refund the payment. Whether or not they communicated accurately with my father when he purchased their service, the right thing to do would have been refund the payment. Please be cautious with this company and how they communicate with elderly persons.

This company will do all it can to sell elderly people "vehicle insurance" (extended warranty). When the customer calls to close out the contract in the trial period they will do all they can to prolong the customer not cancelling the policy. This is a pushy sales company and the extended warranty for vehicles is more than likely useless if your component problem is electrical, reading the fine print in their book they don't cover it. If you need and extended warranty just call your dealership.

I was reviewing my credit report and NRRM LLC DBA: STOPREPAIRBILLS.COM had placed a promotional credit inquiry on 8/24/2018 for my credit. I did not authorize any person, group, or associated company of NRRM LLC DBA: STOPREPAIRBILLS.COM to run my credit report. I am filing a complaint with the FTC and the Revdex.com against this company.
Do not ever run my credit again. Do not inquire about my credit, and do not solicit my information for any inquiry of any kind.

Approximately a year ago I took out a vehicle protection plan with Carshield. All vehicle specs were discussed, including all prior modifications made to the vehicle. After concern rose about their business practices I decided to cancel, upon which they denied my request for a full refund as promised at the time of purchase. Months later, I decided to re-open my policy. Carshield already knew about all my vehicle specs and accepted the vehicle for coverage. After taking my vehicle for an inspection I discovered some major engine work needed to be done. I thought I was in luck because all work was covered under my policy. After delaying for 2 months and keeping me and my mechanic on hold countless times for hours at a time I received an email from them saying they "canceled my policy as I had requested." I never requested it to be canceled. It's obvious they are trying to weasel their way out in any way possible, and its a shame to see this level of unethical business practices, especially directed at military members. Carshield made numerous attempts to intimidate me into submitting records and documentation I wasn't required to submit in order to deny my claim, and one rep even tried to give me a "you're in the military you should know you have to do this" lecture, which first of is dead wrong and coming from someone who never served is just egregious. Unfortunately I am currently consulting with my attorney and exploring my legal options, as well as submitting packets to Navy and Marine CONUS commands recommending the company be put on the restricted list pending their response.

CarShield Response • Oct 01, 2018

We do see that you had a prior service contract with us that you requested cancellation on July 25, 2017. Your service contract was cancelled, as you requested and your refund was issued on August 9, 2017.You called our office on June 16, 2018 to set up a new service contract on your Ford F250. You did ask a lot of questions on how to file a claim, if the need arose, but did not bring up any discussion regarding modifications to your truck.

As your service contract is a month to month *** Powertrain Service Contract, *** has full authority over all claims related decisions and procedures. On September 18, 2018 we received an email from *** stating that your vehicle had several modifications that voided your coverage. (larger wheels and tires, after market exhaust, DPF filter removed, no muffler, tuner attached to the center console and wire sitting beside OBD2 Port, EGR Delete and after market intercooler piping)

*** stated that, because of the extensive modifications outlined as an exclusion in the contracts terms, they were going to void the contract and process a cancellation on this contract, per contract terms. *** is in the process of receiving a full refund of all 4 payments made. The first payment was refunded to *** American Express ending in 91000 and the remaining 3 payments will be mailed to the address listed in this complaint.

If *** has any other questions regarding ***s voiding and cancellation of his contract due to several modification made to his vehicle, he would need to direct those concerns toward *** through the Denver Revdex.com, as stated in his contract under "Dispute Resolution". ***'s contact information, as listed in his service contract, is ***, ***.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Unfortunately, this has been the standard response I've encountered when dealing with this company. Carshield will always deflect and blame American Auto Shield, and in turn American Auto Shield will deflect the same issue back and say it's Carshield's fault. And now Carshield is once again trying to lay the blame on another company for the product they sold. The bottom line is Carshield sold the policy, Carshield knew about the vehicle modifications, and Carshield even declined to inspect the vehicle after I asked if they would like to at the time of sale. The facts are pretty simple.

I also find in somewhat concerning that upon hearing that representatives attempted to use military service to get me to turn over additional unnecessary paperwork in order to find some way to deny my claim, I have received no form of communication from any management personnel, or from HR or any other department. It seems they have no intent or desire to improve their ethical standards. In regards the this "additional refund" they say they are sending, let's not pretend they would have sent that if I didn't file this complaint. I will not consider accepting it until after consulting with my lawyer.

I continue to work to put Carshield on the military's restricted list, as it seems they don't have any intent of honoring my contract. I will update accordingly.

Sincerely

Rip off did not make repairs on my truck as advertised I drove from Tennessee to Texas pulling my RV. my Steering pump and radiator broke took it to the GMC dealer for repairs cost me $2500.00 to fix, car shield said they would only pay $200.00 for the total job, I already made two payments of $171.33 on the contract with another many payments left, so I canceled the contract. and lost my money plus the $2500.00. People need to know about this Rip off company that does not do what they say on their TV commercials. I will do what ever to degrade this very bad company on social media and every where else, till some body takes note.

We certainly want our customers to be happy with the service contracts they have purchased. You purchased Powertrain coverage for your 2003 GMC Sierra. The list of covered components were gone over with you when you purchased the service contract and are also listed in the service contract you received in the mail. Your recent repair claim that was submitted included your radiator, which was authorized to be replaced in the amount of $367.88, and a few components that were not listed as covered in your contract. We apologize for the inconvenience. However, the administrator of your service contract can only authorize repairs that are listed as covered in your contracts terms and conditions.
As a gesture of goodwill, you will be refunded the 2 payments you have made.

I received a mailing from Carshield today, 9/18, an offer to extend warranty on my vehicle, a 2017 BMW M240i Xdrive coupe. I've been receiving similar offers from other companies which sell this same type of contract and I want to know where they have obtained my information from and how. I have an on going dispute with BMW of New London, a dealership I bought from in the past but not the vehicle listed above, concerning mailings they've sent me directly to upgrade a vehicle I owned prior. They claim to have removed me from their list, however, I believe they have gone on to sell my name and address to third parties like Carshield which sell extended warranty contracts. I want to be removed from Carshield mailing list and request to know where and how they obtained my information, I believe BMW of New London is behind this.

CarShield Response • Sep 20, 2018

We employ an outside marketing company who obtains mailing lists for us from transactional activity lists involving certain purchases. Once you purchase a product or service and give the company your name and address, chances are you will be added to one or more mailing lists used by direct marketing companies. Your information is gathered from car or home purchases, by signing up for a credit card, ordering something from a catalog, filling out a product registration form, purchasing insurance for a vehicle, purchasing oil changes or tires, etc.
Your name, address and other contact information is entered into a data base by the company collecting the information. They will more than likely send you solicitation for other products they offer; however; they may also rent their list to other businesses or marketing companies so those businesses can send you advertisements as well.
You may register with ***, a service offered by the Direct Marketing Association, to minimize mailed advertisements you receive.
We have removed your information from our system, as you requested. You should be receiving no further contact or mailers from our company from this point forward. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

In 2013 I purchased a warranty for my 2010 BMW 335D:

Term: 60 / 100,000
Expiration: 07/31/2019 or 100,000
Current Odometer: 46,848
Deductible: 100
Down Payment: 3800.00
Number of Monthly Payments: 0
Monthly Payment Amount: 0.00
Total Cost: $3,800

I have never used the warranty until the car started running rough a couple months ago along with the "service" light remaining on. I took it to my local BMW dealership (*** BMW). They said the injectors were bad and needed to be replaced. A vibration damper that held the air conditioner was cracked and also needed to be replaced. I got a bill for $2,152 and Car shield only paid around $1,100. I was very disappointed because I have a $100 deductible but later found out the warranty does not include the vibration dampener. *** did not receive permission from CarShield to replace the injectors because they wanted "fresh" error codes.

I got the car back after 3 weeks and drove it to get "Fresh" error codes. The "service" light immediately came on and I started getting the rough idling again with the car acting like it was about to stop running completely. The problem is intermittent but when it starts acting up, I put the car in neutral at stop lights and signs to keep it from stalling.

With fresh error codes, I again brought the car in and the dealership has had the car for 10 days now - keep in mind that I have now gone almost a full month without a car and still no resolution. I called the dealership and they still do not have permission to replace the injectors - this time they are being told that CarShield inspectors need to see the rough idle in person - so I have no idea why I was given the car back and told to get fresh error codes...

Now *** can't proceed, I have no car, CarShield will not budge and when I called them today, I was told that I need to demonstrate the error (Rough Idle) in person. I have no idea why my mechanics are being ignored, I have no idea how to demonstrate the problem which comes and goes and I am now going on a month now without a car. I offered for the adjuster to just take and drive the car him or herself. Apparently my word means nothing and the professional mechanics are not trusted either. The rude adjuster also told me that he is not even sure if the injectors are covered which was news to me. Why on earth would anyone purchase a warranty where random parts of the drivetrain are excluded.....

I need help - I need a car to live my life and there is no resolution on the horizon and CarShield is not cooperating to resolve the issue.

CarShield Response • Sep 20, 2018

We at CarShield, have not spoken to *** since he set up coverage in 2014.

We have contacted United Car Care, the administrator of his service contract, to obtain information on the claim in question. After reviewing the claim, *** claim manager has agreed to contact the repair facility and approve the claim to replace the injectors. A representative from *** will also be in contact with *** regarding the repair claim moving forward

*** shows that they have paid $1447.48 in repair claims and inspections to date, before the approval of the injector repair.

We are glad we were able to contact the administrator on ***'s behalf and they were able to review and authorize the injector replacement.
