I purchased auto repair protection on 6 Dec 2018.
Contract stated I had a 20 day grace period before I could file a claim.
Check engine light on my vehicle came illuminated on the 27th of Dec 2018.
***y filed the claim on 2 Jan 2019
Car shield denied my claim saying it was a pre-existing condition, which is not correct.
The denied me my refund as well.
Please address my issue with Car Shield, I think they are a total SCAM...
Your repair facility submitted a repair claim one day into active coverage. ***, the administrator/obligor, denied the claim as failure pre-existing the active date of coverage.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you previously requested and you are being refunded in full the two payments made totaling $188.00.

I had a slick Sales representative con me out of $150. I called back several times. I was livid. I spoke to a supervisor about the call. I didn't want the service. I have a late model car with factory warranty on it. By the time I was finished with the phone call, I calmed down. I am still demanding a refund. I highly
recommend that you save the money instead of getting an extended warranty. Use that money on a down payment for a new car.
Several years ago I purchased a Car Shield policy. a few months ago my power steering went out so I called Car Shield to see if it was covered...it is part of the drive train. I was told it was covered so I put it in the shop. ite bill was over $700.00. it needed a power steering pump and serpentine belt. Turns out they didnt cover the repairs. Called Car Shield and they told me who ever I talked with was wrong. I'm beginning to think it's a scam. tIve paid in over $130.00 a month. I'd like my repairs covered or my $ I've paid in refunded.
The power steering pump is not listed as a covered component under the powertrain service contract you purchased.
The power window motor and power door lock actuator and switch are covered components. However, the power steering pump is not.
This claim will not be paid by ***, the administrator/obligor of your service contract, because it is not a covered component.
If you have any other questions, please contact our customer service department at ***. They would be happy to assist you.

Carshield representatives *** both told me my claim was approved and good to proceed but now they are refusing to pay because they said they can't verify my mileage from when I first signed my car up on 11/08/2018. They are making up excuses to not pay for a claim. I purchased an auto contract from carshield and was charged $135 then $100 for December 2018 policy payment. I specifically told the representative that my 2003 bmw 325i had alot of miles on it -the representative told me that it was ok and that I could still sign up for the policy. I feel like this company is trying to scam me when we had a valid contract

We have contacted ***, the administrator/obligor of your service contract. *** has full authority over the month to month *** Powertrain Service Contract you purchased.
*** stated that the mileage of your vehicle was misrepresented at the time you purchased the month to month service contract. There are no verifiable receipts showing the correct mileage at time of purchase. The vehicle was also towed in for the repair. There is no verification that the vehicle has actually moved since the purchase of the contract. *** is considering the failure to be pre-existing the purchase date of the contract.
*** has voided your service contract and issued a full refund of all payments made into your service contract. $135.00 was credited back to your *** and the remaining $135.00 was refunded by check, mailed to the address listed in this complaint. You should receive your refund check in 7-10 business days.

I am rejecting this response because:
I did NOT misrepresent my mileage at all!! When I purchased the contract, I SPECIFICALLY told the sales representative that it had alot of miles on it and he said that it was ok. I want the call record from when I purchased the contract pulled for review please.
My 2003 BMW is my vehicle that I drive everyday. When I purchased the contract, my 2003 BMW 325i was my everyday driver and was until I went to my friends house and then it wouldn't start. I could not leave it parked at my friends so I had it towed to the dealership to try to find out what was wrong with it.
I paid my monthly premium for a product that I feel was a scam.
Sincerely
the administrator/obligor of your service contract, has full authority over claims procedures and decisions regarding approval or denial of any repair claims submitted. It is not the amount of mileage you have on your vehicle that is the problem. Rather, the only records you provided to them were from 2017 and are handwritten with no mileage recorded. Your vehicle was towed in to the repair facility a short time after you purchased your service contract with no way of verifying your correct mileage or knowing if your vehicle was inoperable at the time you purchased your service contract.
*** voided your service contract because of unverifiable maintenance receipts and true mileage, and refunded you in full the two payments you had made.
If you have any further questions or concerns regarding your voided contract, you would need to contact *** at *** or direct any additional complaint toward ***, as they have full authority over claims related inquiries and would be able to fully address this matter.

I purchased an auto warranty and months later when I called for clarification of my coverage I was later notified that I was ineligible for any coverage due to my "ride-share" activity. On that first call, even their the supervisor was not sure if I was covered and asked if they could call me back. At their offices a meeting was held later that day and a determination was made by their administration that I should have been notified of the exemption at my intake, which exemption was never disclosed or made clear in their documents. They called me back the day after their meeting and offered me a refund and promised I would receive it within 20 days. I called back 25 days later to find out the status of my refund but no one on the phone would either confirm our agreement with administration or simply retrieve their copy of the follow-up written communication they requested of me and which was received, return receipt/USPS. I asked to speak to the administrator that had made the refund arrangements with me and was refused that opportunity.
Your service contract has been cancelled as you requested. You are being refunded in full for the $709.16 you have paid into your service contract.

I have an extended warranty on my 2012 Nissan Maxima and I called to cancel December 19, 2018 but the lady I spoke with said I could not cancel over the phone. She never told me how I can cancel.
We do show that you called in to inquire about cancellation of your service contract and hung up before the representative could explain the cancellation procedures to you.
You have purchased month to month/pay as you go coverage. We will cancel your service contract as you requested. No further payments are due.

I took my vehicle to the dealership to have covered head gasket changed. I was told all I would have to pay was my deductible. When I went to pick my car up after repairs I was hit with a $435 bill that didn't include the deductible. Turns out that it wasn't Carshields fault directly but it's an example of why this type of insurance is a gamble. The mechanic broke bolts off while removing parts and the extra labor to repair broken bolts wasn't covered. Cancelled my coverage and take that money to the casino every month, it works better for me that way.
Car shield it's been a nightmare we pay on time never miss a payment. But when my husband car need service, CARSHIELD ALWAYS FIND AN EXCUSE NOT TO COVER IT. THEY ALWAYS ASK FOR SERVICE RECORD MY HUSBAND CAR IS ON THE SHOP FOR 3 MONTH. WHEN YOU SIGN UP THEY NEVER ASK FOR SERVICE RECORD, BUT QHEN YOU CLAIM THEY ASK SERVICE RECORD HOW MANY SERVICE RECORD DO YOU WANT. ALL MY FRIENDS HAS CAR SHIELD THEY HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE ON WHEN YOU ASK FOR A REFUND TBEY WILL NOT GIVE ALL YOUR KO EY EVEN YOU PAY OVER A THOUSAND DOLLARS CARSHIELD IS A BAD WARRANTY COMPANY, ALL THIS GOOD REVIEWS ARE LIES AND DAKE PEOPLE, 7 OF MY FRIENDS HAVE CARSHIELD NON ONE OF THEM HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE SO THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU GOT YBIS COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT DENY YOUR CLAIM BUT THEY WILL NOT COVER YOUR CLAIM. IM FILLING A LAWSUIT THIS COMPANY I ALREADY TALK TO MY LAWYER. PLEASE DONT BELIEVE ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS THERE ARE FAKE
Where did you folks find these amazing sales reps? They very good at doing their job!
- keeping customers on the phone, refuse to yield to customer demands
- Use pressure tactic to make customers buy on the spot
- Rush the call with as much info as possible, and give one time discount
- able to recite the sales script with different sales flow (for any type of customers)
- immediately bale on customers who has no intention to buy on the spot, including, handing up immediately, use words like “please let me talk to someone in the household that can make a decision”
I would love give your reps a big thumbs up! Where did your HR dept find them? I would like to get in touch with your HR dept as I am hiring sales rep with commission and base salary.
I purchased a warranty for my 2005 Honda Odyssey on June 2018. When I called Carshield to inquire whether my vehicle is eligible for the coverage, the sales rep asked for the details of my car and told me yes it is eligible and all what I need to do is pay $77.00 every month starting that day to begin my coverage and be paying the same amount every month for the continuation of the coverage. He asked me whether they can put it on autopay every month and I agreed. The sales rep also told me that I will receive the copy of the contract on my email and the hard copy in the mail. I didn’t receive anything either on the mail or email until I had to call Carshield back at the beginning of this month, December 2018 and inquire what happened with the contract that I was supposed to receive both on the email and in the mail. I also wanted to ask how I file a claim since I noticed my vehicle had some problems with the engine while running. That’s the time I found out that Carshield had my name wrong in their system as well as my mailing address. The customer Service whom I talked to told me everything is corrected in their system and I should receive the copy of the contract on the email soon and the hard copy in the mail in a few days. After some hours, nothing on my email. I called Carshield again twice just to rectify my name, email and address. I was told by the customer service rep that all what I need to do is take my vehicle to an ASE Certified Mechanic and give the Mechanic all of my contract information like the contract number and the phone # to contact Carshield and they will take care of it from there. That’s exactly what I did. When I took my vehicle to the mechanic, after diagonizing my vehicle, he called Carshield and Carshield told him that, first of all they don’t know how my vehicle qualified for the warranty coverage in the first place. Secondly, they couldn’t cover/ pay for the repairs since they couldn’t verify the mileage on my vehicle and my title was salvage. Thirdly, they told him that they have canceled my coverage/ warranty policy and they are going to refund my money. First of all, that’s a breach of my privacy rights. My question is: When I called Carshield in June 2018, the sales rep asked for the details of my vehicle which I gave to him over the phone. Why didn’t he tell me that my vehicle is ineligible or it doesn’t qualify for warranty due to A, B, C.?Why take my money since June 2018 until now December 2018 whereas according to Carshield my vehicle didn’t qualify for the coverage? Furthermore, the refund that Carshield told my mechanic that they are going to refund, Carshield only refunded me only for 1 month. Where’s the rest of my refund since June 2018 since it was your fault/ error telling me that my vehicle was qualified/ eligible for the warranty coverage? Carshield was supposed to do it’s due diligence on my vehicle before telling me it qualifies for the warranty coverage. I received an email from Carshield saying that “according to my request “ they have cancelled my policy. I didn’t request for a cancellation of my policy, Carshield is the one which determined to cancel it after receiving a call from my mechanic about my vehicle. I also received a voicemail from Carshield after cancellation of the policy saying and trying to explain to me that my vehicle would still be eligible for the coverage but I have to pay a surcharge. When I called Carshield back for more details, they changed the story and told me that my vehicle cannot and doesn’t qualify for the coverage with Carshield. Seriously? When I asked for my full refund since June 2018, the customer service rep told me that I was even lucky to get that 1 month refund since Carshield doesn’t refund any amount for a cancelled policy. That’s when I decided to contact Revdex.com to see if I can get justice on this issue. To me and to everyone out there, Please Carshield is a big s
m and should be avoided by all means possible.
The administrator of your contract, ***, found that your vehicle had a branded title. The true mileage of the vehicle cannot be determined.
You are being refunded in full the 462.00 that you have paid into your coverage.

My Dodge Truck had been in the shop for over 3 weeks. Shop was having a hard time finding the issue. I provided them with the Carshield information over 2 weeks ago. I was now informed oil pump is not covered because there was no PreAuthorization initiated prior to fixing the truck. An adjuster came out on Monday and agreed it was the oil pump yet still will not be covered due to PA not being called in. The point is it was a defective part covered by my insurance that was denied due to a mistake by the shop in not submitting the PA. I was never allowed to speak with any supervisor. Customer Service *** stated she was the only one who would be able to help. She would not transfer me to anyone else. Once I asked to cancel my policy and have money returned she stated that I would lose "substantial" amount but was unable to tell me how much. States she was unable to transfer me to that department. The only way to cancel was to submit a written request. I wanted needed more information to make smart decision regarding coverage and losses. I paid $3175.00 for my policy. Coverage expires in 2022. She felt I would only get back maybe a $100.
I get that the PA needed to be submitted but I did not make that mistake. Mind you, a Mistake. The shop made a mistake. Therefor the shop has given me a discount but I still need to pay out of pocket $823.00. Again, it was a defective part covered by my contract. Not a good way to do business. I would never go through this company again. I still do not have information on loss if I cancel my police.
Your administrator requires that the shop call to submit a repair claim so they can send an adjuster to determine cause of failure or speak to the repair facility prior to the repair regarding the diagnosis. Pre-authorization was not obtained by your repair facility.
You may choose to keep your service contract for future repairs. Your service contract is effective until 01/18/2022 or until your odometer reaches 246,667 miles...which ever comes first. You may also choose to cancel your service contract. Your prorated refund as of 12/20/2018 is 1834.55.
Please let us know what you would like to do.

I received an unsolicited letter from this business advising me of a price increase in their Extended Vehicle Service Plans and to call them immediately in regard to this. However, I have had no prior contact with this business, nor do I have an account set up with them. I can only conclude that this business has obtained my contact information illegally.
If you could provide us with the ID number that would have appeared on a mailed advertisement that was sent on our behalf, we would be able to determine if the mailer came from CarShield and remove you from our mailing list.
Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

I purchased the Warranty in November 2017. I explained to them that I drive a lot of miles-I didn't hide that fact. My payment was 135.00 a month. As time went by- I realized that the money I was sending to them could be used to pay off my car. Without even using the Warranty, I decided to cancel. I called and I was told I would have to send in a letter. No problem- I mailed the letter- they received it on Nov 5. I was waiting on my refund. After a few weeks, I called them to find out what was taking so long. I finally called, and I spoke with ***. She told me I wasn't due a refund because I drove to many miles, how is that possible? 40,000 miles? Ok- first of all, I stated in the beginning that I drove a lot? My contract was good for 125,000. I was under? Not only that-I was originally told that I was covered for 160,000.? Nevertheless- I was still under the miles and I didn't use the service. *** gave me some story about the mileage? She also told me that I was better off getting a month to month contract! It didn't matter , it' was to late for "could of- should of" Nevertheless- I was livid to learn that I was out of 1,350.00!!!! Especially for a service that I never used!! I should also mention that when I got the Warranty, I had 60,000. Upon cancelling I had 101,000. Still under the miles.
Your vehicle was under active coverage for 12 months, and as stated in the sales call and in your service contract, "In the event of cancellation after the "free look period" the cancellation refund will be calculated on a pro rata basis and you will receive the lesser of the unused portion of the days or mileage that the contract has been in effect...less the $50 processing fee."
As a gesture of goodwill we will agree to cancel your service contract by days rather than take your high mileage into account. You will receive your prorated refund of $872.77 shortly by mail. It should arrive in 7-10 days.

Carshield, did agree to refund me 872.00. They stated that the check was sent on December 21- I contacted them the first week in January ,they told me to give it 21 days. However, when I contacted them again this evening, after having some conversation with the customer service rep, we discovered that they sent the check to the wrong address? Not sure how that happened, when all the other correspondence that I received through the company arrived at my residence in a timely manner? After being on hold for 20 min or so, she came back to the phone and said that her manager wasn’t available and that there was nothing she could do?? Can you please advise me on how to proceed?
Thanks!
We spoke with *** regarding her refund check on January 11th. Her refund check was mailed to the address she listed in this complaint. The address listed was incorrect.
We let her know that we would place a stop payment on that initial check and issue a new one. We issued a replacement check for her refund and mailed it to the address she requested.
*** should receive her refund check by Wednesday this week, as we mailed it out express mail.

I was thinking about using this company until I came here and read the reviews. Thanks guys for saving me a headache. I will not use this company they sound like a ripoff.
I am very disturbed at how Car Shields handles a warranty they are not a company that one would want to have a warranty with. They have 2 many sales representatives that say one thing but when it comes to repair they are not reliable. For anyone who sees the commerical on TV dont even look at the TV the Company preaches one thing and reliality the opposite is done. All they want is your money every month no runs a business like they are not a good business. I took my policy out this September 2018 and I regret dealing with this company.
The administrator of your service contract stated that there was a mileage discrepancy with your vehicle and requested a picture of your odometer to verify mileage. They did not receive the mileage verification from you. We see that you have cancelled your month to month service contract. You will be refunded in full the 3 payments you have made.
After purchasing a coverage plan I proceeded to make a claim only to find out that the contract that I was signing was going to be canceled due to an action that done prior to me purchasing the vehicle. So my monthly payments that I was making have been taken and I have never really had coverage
Your service contract was voided by the administrator because they found that the odometer had been rolled back at some point.
You are being refunded in full for all payments you made toward your service contract.

We contacted the administrator of your service contract, American Auto Shield, on your behalf to obtain information on the claim you have referenced. American Auto Shield shows they have paid $613.03 for the two claims presented over the duration you have been paying on your month to month service contract.
If you have any further questions regarding your repair claims or any other claim related questions, you would need to contact American Auto Shield at ***. They would be able to fully address any claims related questions for their Service Contract that you purchased for your Chevrolet Colorado.
We show that you have chosen to cancel your month to month, pay as you go service contract. Your contract was cancelled as of August 20, 2018, as you requested and no further payments are due.

I am rejecting this response because: I would like to have all the money that I have paid in to carshield because I was only supposed to pay $100 deductible not half the price of the repairs so I would like reverse money from all the money that I paid into them except for the $613 that they did play on a claim thank you very much
Sincerely
The service contract you purchased is pay as you go, month to month coverage. This was explained during the sales call. Each month you choose to keep the service contract is a renewal. You pay for each month you are covered in, much like car insurance. You may choose to cancel at any time, however, the past months that were paid are not refundable as you were paying to be covered for each month.

I have been called by Carshield over 10 times. I finally returned a call to get a simple quote and the initial person I spoke to seem less than enthused to help. The sales representative was difficult to work with. If this is what someone experiences just getting a quote, what does that say about the claim filing experience?
