Chase Home Finance Reviews (621)

Review: My name is [redacted] and I am writing on behalf of my father [redacted], whom has tried to refinance his home since September 2013. Yesterday I got the news Chase was canceling his application because we did not get the paperwork in a timely manner. First off, we were passed around to 3 different mortgage bankers[redacted]). By the time I got to the third person she did not know what she was looking at. Second we had to go through someone out of Houston and she kept telling us the underwriter needed more information. The underwriter looked over the application at least 10 times and each time needed one more piece of information from us. We faxed over the paper work to her but [redacted], banker out of Houston, did not get the paperwork. There was a big miscommunication between the underwriter, [redacted] and which ever banker out of Harahan we were dealing with at the time. Actually I believe there was no communication at all because I had to fax/email each piece of information to each and everyone. It was very unprofessional of Chase to give me the run around considering the cost of the application fee. Besides, she did not have a reason to cancel our application due to "Untimely manner" because I always manage to get it to her within a week.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I would like to get answers to why I was passed around for 5 months. If Chase was unable to do it, they should have just refunded my money and I could have taken it else where. The best I hope they can do is either reopen the application and go through with it, refund my money, or call and give me a better explanation then "Untimely manner".

Review: I had two mortgage accounts with Chase bank, a 1st and a 2nd. Account ####[redacted] (primary) and [redacted] (2nd). The house was sold in 11/2011 as a short sale with both accounts paid for less than the full balance. The way Chase is reporting the ####7[redacted] account to [redacted] and [redacted] it is showing as a foreclosure and not a short sale. It is being reported with the comments, "Account paid for less than full balance, Account paid after foreclosure started." It is being reported correctly to [redacted] as "Account paid for less than full balance." I am trying to refinance my current home but because they are reporting to [redacted] and [redacted] in the way they are, [redacted] and Fred[redacted] are not able to get my loan request through underwriting because they are reading it as a foreclosure and not a short sale when in fact it was a short sale. Even though Chase reported it correctly to [redacted], they are unwilling to correct the report to [redacted] and [redacted] to show my account as "Account paid for less than full balance", only. This language is effecting me greatly in my attempt to get a better interest rate for my home and will end up costing us a lot of money because of a language correction that would accurately reflect how the house sold. As far as account [redacted] (the 2nd), they reported that correctly to all 3 credit bureaus.Desired Settlement: There is recourse needed from this complaint. I am requesting that JP Chase bank report correctly to the 3 credit bureaus to show account #[redacted] as "Account paid for less that balance" only. This will show that the home was indeed sold via short sale and not a foreclosure.

Review: We closed on a foreclosure property in June 2014 and we were shown a picture before we bid on the property of land with a mobile home on it. Then at closing we signed a "termite hold harmless" agreement. After spending over $5,000 on repairs and the necessary inspections and such, we are informed that we need a "bill of sale" for the mobile. In order to register the home and get electricity to the property we MUST have a "bill of sale". The Tax Assessors office said that if the bank fills out a blank bill of sale that it will be accepted. We have sent emails, certified mail, and made phone calls. No one will return my correspondence. We were advised to file a "Title Claim", and we did that also. We were told that the Mobile home "isn't covered". We paid cash in full at closing. All we are asking for is a bill of sale and no one wants to help us.Desired Settlement: We want a bill of sale for the Mobile home that we purchased with the 6 acres of land. If any other information is needed we will gladly provide it. Additional information:Address of property: [redacted]

Review: My and I husband received numerous offers from Chase Bank to re-finance our current mortgage at a lower rate. Since Chase is our current lender, we decided to call their 800 # in the middle of November, 2013 and inquired about the rates. Because my husband served in the military and retired from the service, they offered a rate of 3.625%, about 2 points lower than our current rate. Within 3 days, we received a packet of documents and a list of requirements for us to provide in order to lock the rate agreeing with the terms & conditions of re-financing. The documents were sent to the Arizona Office by fax on November 26, a total of 25 pages. Three weeks had passed, I called the Mortgage Banker to inquire and he replied by saying he has not received a single paperwork from us and that he said he had been trying to contact us by calling our home ph #. Initially, I have provided my cell phone as the primary number to contact. They made several phone calls to our home phone number regardless. I re-sent the 25 page document on 12/12/13. I was also asked to provide our checking account because we are required to pay the appraisal fee of $455.00. A week later, we received a phone call and an email from the loan processor requesting addt'l. documentation with a deadline to submit by 12/23/13 such as: my husband’s letter of discharge/retirement/separation from the military and a copy of the home owner's insurance . Even with the holidays, we submitted the requested docs on 12/19/13 to comply with their request. On the same day, we received an e-mail back from the mortgage banker with additional information/documentation required. One of the items requested was a letter of explanation why they have not received the mortgage payment for the month of December. I replied by copying a screen shot of our receipt from their portal/e-bill reflecting payment on 12/13/13. This was frustrating, they should have checked their system in the first place before telling us that we have missed a payment. The rest of the addt'l. requirements were submitted on 12/23/13. On 12/26/13, I received an e-mail from the loan processor indicating that the bank statements sent on 12/23/13 were unacceptable so we had to re-produce a statement that is acceptable on that same day. On December 30, 2013, I received another e-mail from the loan processor requiring 6 addt'l items, one of them is to provide a written statement on the ff: “ 5) Letter of Explanation (signed and dated, stating whether you want to pay off the home equity line of credit at closing or if you would like Chase to subordinate).” I replied by e-mail indicating we do not wish to pay the home equity loan at closing and neither do we accept their offer to subordinate. Previously, we have mentioned to the mortgage banker that we have acquired a home equity loan through our Credit Union but no action has been required from us until later, when we were almost done with the process and we were assured by the loan processor that closing should take place as our application has been approved. On Jan 6, 2014, I received a phone call from the loan processor - she demanded that the home equity has to be subordinated and that it will take 4 weeks to obtain the subordination from our Credit Union. Because of that, Chase is requiring us to pay $242.50 to move forward and keep the same interest rate as our lock-in agreement expires on January 20, 2014. Their inability to convey and properly disseminate the terms, policies and requirements in re-financing, the process is prolonged, the fact that it took 3 weeks before initial documentation was reviewed, request for documentation was done on a piece-meal basis, I am very disappointed with the service and I feel as if we are being penalized for their shortcomings. Chase Bank has been our lender ever since they purchased [redacted] so they have a full record of our mortgage payments - not a single payment have we missed nor defaulted, neither my husband nor I have filed for bankruptcy. Our house has been appraised 3 times the value of the amount that we are re-financing and in less than 5 years, we can fully pay the house but because they offered us a much lower rate, we thought that it was nice a gesture - but not so! I left messages - one for the loan processor's manager and to the over-all manager that handles feedback on home loans/re-financing. it's been over 48 hours and I have not heard from neither one of them.Desired Settlement: 1. Waive the cost of $242.50 to keep the rate of 3.625%; closing is delayed attributed by the bank's inefficient and slow processing.

2. If not agreeable with the above, we wish to terminate our application and ask for a refund on the cost for the home appraisal fee in the amount of $455.00

Review: I applied for a mortgage modification with Chase Home Mortgage in February 2013. I was approved for a trial modification with Chase with my trial modification amounts being due June 1, July 1, and August 1, 2013. I have the trial modification paperwork from Chase stating that if I paid my trial payments on time that they would complete a permanent/final modification and keep it as close to the trial payment amounts as possible. During the trial modification process, my mortgage was sold to Select Portfolio Servicing (SPS) who I have had nothing but issues. As a result of this mortgage transfer, SPS has increased my payments almost $200 and has since increased it again with no reason. Under the National Mortgage Settlement Act, Chase is charged with ensuring that all serviced transferred accounts in the process of a modification transition to the new servicer without issue. I request documentation regarding what modification program I was approved for with Chase. I feel strongly that selling my mortgage in the middle of the trial modification period was a way for Chase to circumvent awarding me a final modification that reflects the amount as indicated by my trial modification documents.Desired Settlement: I want Chase to buy my mortgage back from SPS and provide me a permanent modification amount of $805.95 or lower as indicated by the trial modification amount as well as their letter stating they will complete the final modification with a monthly payment amount similar to my trial modification amount. I want my credit report fixed as this transfer of my mortgage has been nothing but issues with the new servicer SPS not applying my payments made as they indicated they would be made.

Review: I bought a house on August 14, 2013. Purchase price was $240,000.00 and appraisal value was 235.000.00 . At that time, I did not do all 20% down-payment, so that I am still paying mortgage insurance on my loan. From October 2013, I was trying to remove my Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) by paying the required amount of 20%. I requested to CHASE MANHATTAN MORTGAGE CORP 3415 VISION DR COLUMBUS, OH 43219-6009 to remove that PMI, but they send me the letter on October 30, 2013 by saying "In order to proceed with your request to remove your PMI, you may pay your principal balance down by $192,000.00, to meet the required LTV ratio of 80%"by your original value of $240,000.00. After received that letter, I paid my principle balance down by $19,916.17 to meet the requirement. I called them many times to remove that PMI, but they did not do so. Now they told me that to reach the LTV ratio of 80% you may pay your principal balance down $ 188,000.00 using original value of $235,000.00. Now they are forcing me to pay $2706.53 by December 12, 2013 to remove PMI from my loan. I should not pay that extra money according to what they explain me before.Desired Settlement: All I want to do is remove PMI from my loan in which I already meet the requirements for that removal of PMI from my account. They explained me one thing and finally they did other thing. I just need to go with what they send me in the first letter.

Review: We received a notification last December notifying us that our repayment period for our Equity Line of Credit will begin December of 2015. I immediately made contact with Chase inquiring about refinancing and consolidating our first mortgage and the equity line of credit with Chase. The woman I spoke with advised that I should wait until summer of 2015 as the housing market is continuing to rise and we would be more likely to get the appraisal we need to consolidate the two loans. Ironically, December 29,2014, a letter was sent to us indicating our first mortgage had been sold to another Mortgage company. July 10, 2015 I made contact with Chase to begin the process of requesting mortgage assistance. I mailed the entire package requested on July 19th. August 20th I sent additional documentation that was requested. I was then told it would go to underwriting and the process could take up to 45 days. After receiving no notification of the status of our request I contacted Chase on October 12th. [redacted], our mortgage assistant, stated "Oh I am glad you called we have been trying to get a hold of you, we need additional information." I again gave her my contact information that is also on the mortgage assistance application that was mailed on July 19th. I became upset as I asked how long this process is going to take as December 15th a large payment will be due. I provided the second request for additional information on October 26th. I left a message for [redacted] informing her I sent over the additional paperwork and asking she return my call to verify she got it. She never called. I called again on November 2, 2015 and left another message. [redacted] returned my call and stated she was glad I called because she did not have the correct phone number to contact me. I again explained my frustration that this process will not be resolved before a large payment will be due December 15th. She promised she would speak with underwriting. No call yet.Desired Settlement: We are not asking to get out of the loan, we are asking for assistance via a refinance or modification.

Review: I went to closing to refinance my old mortgage serviced by Chase on May 10th, 2014, the new mortgage company is a different bank. Chase was to send back my escrow account for approx. $6200.00 to me after closing, but instead sent $5,323.10 of the refund to the town for taxes, even though at closing I was told we were all on the same page, that the taxes were already collected and being paid by the new mortgage company. Chase sent $5,323.10 after the mortgage was completely settled, resulting in the town receiving a duplicate payment on the 22nd of May, which they promptly returned the same day (according to the town and their Tax Record Department). Although I inquired on May 27th where was my refund when I received just under $900. from Chase with a statement "Settlement in Full", the representative at the Commack, NY branch said it was probably going to take a couple extra days before they got the check back. I inquired again on June 2nd at the Greenlawn, NY location and was told they had no information, but to try back in a couple of days. He said he put an official inquiry on my account for the funds (only because I requested it). On June 5th, I called their mortgage center and they told my they have no notations or information of such matter, but would have their tax department look into it. I spoke to [redacted] who told me the inquiry could take 30-90 days but to check back in 7 days. I feel like they just keep telling me that past inquiries magically disappear, and I am getting further and further away from collecting the money which is rightfully mine. Any help is appreciated.Desired Settlement: Payment in full of my funds!

Review: Chase keeps giving customers the "run-around" about home modification programs....they keep asking for documents that have already been given to them to delay the process and in the end they don't do anything for you and you have to start the process all over...this has been going on for more than 3 year and no one does anythingDesired Settlement: Modify my loan

Review: This is about getting a home loan assistance from Chase.

I had a personal hardship that affected my family life and I fell behind on my mortgage. I started filing for mortgage assistance in august of 2012. At this point I am not sure how many applications I had filled out for assistance. Everytime someone called I gave them my finacial information. Chase has stalled and delayed and made my chance for getting any kind of help almost non existent. This started with [redacted], then [redacted] in the executive office. the last straw is I got and application in an completed with a [redacted] and completed on January 14, 2014. About the same time I received a Letter from Chase that my loan was being reassigned. I called and I was assured that my loan would go to underwriting and would have a decision before it was reassigned. And if it was reassigned my application would carry over, They lied and missled me. On Feburary 15, 2015 when my loan was reassigned, I called no one called me back. Anyone I spoke with told me I had to talk to M&T bank. I had to fill out a new application and start looking for help again. An in true Chase operation On the 03/14/2014 I received a Fedex letter from Chase that A [redacted] was trying to get in touch with me I have called 03/14,03/17, 03/18, 03/19. Still no answer.

I have nothing else to lose while I sit here waiting to lose my house because of the poor treatment from ChaseDesired Settlement: Do somethng to help me Forbearance a refinance something

Review: I have had issues for the last two years where I have to continuously call Chase to correct billing related to my escrow account. I have provided them with contact numbers, did conference calls, and sent documentation over course of months in both years. I have offered to pay what ever shortages are found to be correct to avoid an increase in my mortgage, but I am told that it will still increase even if I pay the shortage.Desired Settlement: I would like Chase to correctly bill me for charges in my escrow without me calling for 3-6 months out of each year, and I would like to know why paying the shortage would still result in a higher monthly payment.

Review: For years Chase Bank has sent 1099s and 1098s to the ** Franchise Tax Board (FTB) in my name and social security number at an identity thief's address in [redacted] (someone named [redacted]). Now the FTB has wrongfully closed my bank account and assessed a $65,000.00 tax lien against me because of Chase Bank and [redacted] and others. I made many, many many requests to Chase Bank TO STOP THIS, but they won't correct this issue and continue to accept mortgage payments under my name$ social security number, and continue to report tax liability in my name and social security number. I DO NOT HAVE A MORTGAGE WITH CHASE BANK! I AM NOT MAKING PAYMENTS TO CHASE BANK! I AM A 68-YEAR-OLD DISABLED SENIOR CITIZEN ON BELOW-POVERTY-LEVEL SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME ONLY! I was referred to you by [redacted] Senate Aging Fraud Hotline: [redacted]@aging.senate.govDesired Settlement: I want this nightmare to end! I want a letter from Chase Bank to the Franchise Tax Board explaining their gross and egregious mistake that has gone on for many years. Then I want proof that Chase Bank has taken action against [redacted] and his comrades who have stolen my identity to perform these illegal acts with Chase Bank. I want compensation for my bank account, tax levies, credit repair, and time spent because of this mess: $17, 816.29 to settle these claims. I want this pre-litigation settlement before the FTB deadline of November 27, 2014, when the FTB has threatened to begin involuntary collection procedures.

Review: I have been blocked from making payments to my mortgage account online, via phone and via automated phone payment. Issues noted by Chase with my [redacted] account were resolved in July as requested and the payment account readded to my chase account.Desired Settlement: Provide the ability to make payments to my Chase account via my [redacted] FCU account online and other electronic means. This is necessary due to my overseas and US travel. Also - credit my account as being paid on time for August since I was forced to make arrangement for paper payment.

Review: I requested a Loan Modification on my residential home in March, 2012. Chase continues to drag their feet, accruing fees and penalties, while making no progress towards the actual loan modification. They keep asking for documentation on items that were previously received. Meanshile, I am getting further and further behind. I am already in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and due to their lack of action, my payment to the Chapter 13 Trustee is about to go up by $500 on October 1, 2013.Desired Settlement: I would like them to complete the Loan Modification process and delete any fees and penalties assessed to my account.

Review: The complaint stems from refinancing the mortgage for our home. I was told that the appraisal from 6 months ago was not valid, due to fluctuating market values. There were comps in the area from over a year ago that were listed on the appraisal. The current appraisal shows the value of our home decreased over $20,000 while the current comps indicate that the market is stronger than when prior appraisal was completed. I received notification that my request to refinance was canceled as I had requested, but I never requested that. Also, I emailed [redacted] (as suggested by [redacted]) multiple times to escalate and get an update, but there has been no response on over 2 weeks.

thank youDesired Settlement: Please refund the $455 appraisal fee if unwilling to correct the appraisal and continue with the new mortgage.

thank you

Review: I have been trying to get a modification with Chase since 2008. The company requires me to send in paperwork, then they state that they have not received them. They continue to request paperwork and continue to tack on fees. In 2011, I sent chase my mortgage payment to get my payment caught up. Chase did not accept the payment that was made and the continue to harass and call concerning the mortgage. Chase also sent me paperwork stating that if I placed my house up for short sale by 10/31/2012 that I would receive 6% of the sale price. I placed my house up for short sale on 10/15/2012, two weeks before the deadline. An offer was made in April 2013 and Chase accepted the buyers offer. After reviewing the information, I was informed that I would not receive the 6% as originally agreed upon. That the amount that I was to receive would be nothing. Then the agent tried to make me pay an additional 5,000.00 to the seller's agent. I have contacted [redacted],( my dedicated customer assistance specialist at [redacted]) for the past 3 years and I have voiced my concerns on her answering machine and I am to receive a return phone call from her. I have also faxed and mailed her information concerning this matter, and I am yet to receive a return phone call, although her voice mail states that she will return the call in 24-48 hours. This entire situation has been very stressful because I have been trying to raise a family and I do not know where I stand from one day to the next. My health has been greatly affected and I am sure that it is because I spend most of my time wondering when will Chase put me out in the streets. I feel that this situation could have been avoided, if only someone was willing to communicate and work with their customers.Desired Settlement: First I would like for Chase to remove all of the derogatory items from my credit report. I feel that since I did send Chase the money to catch my house payment up and the money was returned, that all of the information should be removed. 2. I would like all of the late fees, attorney charges etc removed from my file and my credit report. 3. I would like to be given a modification of the existing loan balance without all of the tacked on fees. 4. If I am am not given the modification, then I would like to receive the original amount of 6% of the short sale price which was agreed upon in 2012.

5. I would like some communication with someone, other than my dedicated customer assistance specialist [redacted].

Review: Chase failed to provide $3000 in relocation after I remained in the property throughout the short sale proceedings and at closing no monetary relocation assistance was provide.Desired Settlement: The relocation fee of $3000 will settle this complaint.

Review: I obtained a mortgage originally with [redacted] just before the market crash. My husband and I remained responsible and reliable with our mortgage payment through difficult financial times despite the plummeting value of our home. All we wanted to do after years of reliable service with [redacted] and then with Chase was to refinance our existing mortgage which was an adjustable rate to a more stable fixed rate mortgage. Chase was unwilling to EVER help us out. They had us jump though hoops on several separate occasions only to then ultimately tell us that there was nothing they would do for us because we either made too much money, or because our loan wasn't backed by Fannie Mae or Freddy Mac, or because the loan amount was greater than the home value. They were simply unwilling to ever provide any type of assistance because they knew they had us in an impossible situation. For years my husband and I had to deal with this though we remained perfect creditors. This, however, meant nothing to Chase. Leaving Chase was one of the happiest days of my life. I will NEVER use them for anything. I will never recommend them to ANYONE. Chase is horrible.

Review: My basic complaint is that Chase did not follow through in a home loan modification. The remedy I seek from them, which I have communicated to them in writing, is for the loan to be dismissed and for free and clear title of my home to be returned to me. I completed my loan modification paperwork and made my 3 trial payments in full and on time. The last payment was made on 5/31/13. [redacted] from the Chase Home Equity ERG (Escalations) Department advised me that my loan modification was approved and that my loan would show current. However, he admitted that Chase had made a mistake along the process. I actually began my loan modification process in late 2012. On 10/1/13 [redacted] said the following to me: "I promise your payment will be $302.33. We are holding ourselves accountable. We ourselves made an error". The error he was referring to was that Chase had made an error in the loan analysis and in the escrow amount when calculating lender-placed insurance. Later that month, October 2013, he retracted what he had said on 10/1/13 and was unwilling to work with me. I have made numerous calls regarding this issue and I have documented all of them. My last two calls to Chase were made in January and February of 2014. I spoke to [redacted] from the Home Equity Collections Department and to [redacted] of Loss Mitigation. Both of them were unable to assist me due to the conflicting information appearing in their system and promised me that someone would contact me. Nobody ever called me back. Thus, I seek the remedy specified above.Desired Settlement: I would like for Chase to honor my request of dismissing the loan.

Review: Oct 1991 I bought at house [redacted] with my ex-husband [redacted] the loan [redacted] also had my name on it [redacted] for $46,000. September 25,1998 Chase sent a letter saying the house is being sold to [redacted] the principal balance of $40880.30. In June 1999 our divorce was final and the divorce decree clearly states the title belongs to [redacted] which I sent Chase a copy of it. I continue making every payment with checks until my dad [redacted] paid it off for me and my children in May 2003. When I received the title it still both [redacted] and [redacted] on it, at that time call Chase back they said, they would fix it. On Feb 16, 2007 I took out a second mortgage loan on [redacted] in my name. Then last year I sold the house.

The problem that I'm having with Chase Manhattan Mortgage is that not showing any credit on my credit report. But, it is showing up on [redacted] credit report. The title is mine according to the divorce decree that I sent to Chase back in June of 1999 and I was the one that continue making payments on it until my dad [redacted] paid it off. So, why is my ex-husband getting credit and not me.Desired Settlement: I want to get mortgage credit for paying off loan #[redacted] on [redacted] this month July 2014. I deserved it for being the one that pay off the loan and the title belongs to me not my ex-husband. The credit should be taken off his probably I don't know how that works. I would like to buy a house this month but, need this fix on my credit report.
