DO NOT OPEN A CREDIT CARD WITH CITIZENS unless you know 1 million percent you will never ever ever miss a payment! There is no second chance with them! I have had a credit card with Citizens for about 15 years. In those 15 years never paid late, never went over my limit, never asked for an increase in limit. I paid the card balance off last October. It has had a zero balance! This September I failed to "skip" a month at an online store at which I have a membership. This happened due to me being out of town assisting my elderly mother who was having a health crisis. (In no way am I saying this the fault of Citizens, I'm just setting the reason it happened). I realized I had missed skipping and thought it was linked to another account. Keep in mind that I am enrolled in paperless billing and I HAVE NOT received any correspondence from Citizens since last October due to having a ZERO balance. On October 14, 2021 I get a statement in my box from CITIZENS for a payment due on Nov. 10 of $60. I look and there is a late fee. Apparently I missed a payment due on Oct. 10th. I did not receive any e-statement for the month of October. Anyway, I realized my mistake on the charges from not "skipping" my monthly membership at the online store. I was angry with myself for letting this happen. Just figured I'd eat the late fee and go cancel those memberships! Fast forward to October 18, 2021. A different credit card that monitors changes in my accounts sends me an email saying that there has been a limit decrease in one of my credit accounts. I looked into it and it was CITIZENS. Now I didn't have an enormous line with them but they decreased it from $2400 to $250. That's pretty significant! All over a $89.98 charge. Also the 29.99 late fee they added in giving me a total of $118. This is what pushed me to here! I have really put an effort into maintaining a good credit score and being creditworthy! I sure have had my share of financial struggles but I know without looking good in the eyes of the Financial World you can't have anything. So for them to just change your creditworthiness with the stroke of a switch is pretty low. I did receive a letter 8 days later (in the mail) informing me that "As a result of my $30 delinquency and following a review of your account history they have decreased my credit limit." A review? First of all there was no time between the missed payment and the decrease for a "review". Second if this is true what is the review for? I have no history of late payments or going over my limit AND have carried a ZERO balance for the last 11 months! This is definitely NOT the kind of relationship I want! I have reached out to CITIZENS via the 1-800 #'s and Miguel, John, Tina could assist or rectify the situation. I will do my duty of reporting my experience with the BBB, OCC, FDIC, CFBP. I am aware that most of these complaints will go without any actual action just more explanations but if my credit is going to get 'DINGED' then their reputation can get a 'DING' too! I have asked some banking friends about closing the card and I have been told don't close it, cut it up don't use it and let them close it in time. It will look better to the credit reporting agencies if they close it rather than I. Seems pretty controlling and screwed up! My name my social security number and I CAN'T control it without suffering DINGS to my credit. Sad country we are living in where these rich SOB's are in control of us! I suppose this is our only way of venting and I hope it saves one person from opening a card with this sham of a company that does not put their loyal consumer first. I have cards with many other companies from CHASE, Cap 1, Discover, US Bank, BofA, Synchrony and I am not aware of any of them pulling such low deceitful tactics. Most reputable cards will hit you with the late fee and give you an opportunity to get back on track. Citizens is deceiving because they are not for the average 'CITIZEN' who yes make mistakes and once in awhile forget things especially in this day with so much going on. We can make excuses for so many people and their behaviors but there is no room for error for the average AMERICAN! Peace to all!

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted] The previous response from the bank stated that they would research the situation This made us hopeful But, instead, the bank simply reiterated its previous position, which remains factually inaccurate and completely unacceptable as our previous response stated.First, the bank blames other institutions for all delays, as they did throughout the entire process The fact remains that we consistently found all delays to be the result of the incompetence of most of the people we dealt with at the bank, where we had to spend an inordinate amount of time correcting the many mistakes they continually made throughout the entire process This resulted in the bank failing to honor agreed upon closing dates, missing five different closing dates, the first of which caused us to incuradditional costs of $3,330.Second, concerning the most egregious act, the bank continues to claim that they “verbally” informed us of an increase in the interest rate Once again, this is categorically untrue and a complete and utter fabrication No important information was ever conveyed verbally to us without also having confirmation via e-mail or other writtencorrespondence Because of early misrepresentations and failure to deliver on numerous promises, and since one of us has spent more than years working in the banking industry, we kept careful notes on all verbal correspondence and we kept all e-mail messages and other written correspondence We were never informed of any increase in interest rate through any means The fact remains that an increase was made in the agreed upon interest rate without any re-disclosure or amendment to the construction/permanent mortgage loan commitment letter through verbal, written or any other means, as documented by our careful notes on all correspondence with the bank This represents, without question, truly unprofessional, unethical and deceitful behavior by the bank And, despite such behavior, the bank refuses to do anything to address these misdeeds.Based on our dealings with the bank, we will never work with them again for any banking needs and strongly recommend that others look elsewhere for their banking needs Wehope that no one else ever experiences what we went through We are exploring legal options Regards, [redacted]
