Coby Electronics Corp. Reviews (398)

Review: I bought a 7-inch Coby Kyros Tablet and after about a month, the screen became unresponsive. I called into the service center and explained my situation to them. They told me that I should send the tablet back to them with a 15 dollar money order. He emailed me the address and more directions in regards to getting this product fixed. Around the midway mark of May(5/**/13) I sent the item to the address he gave me. I also enclosed the money order. After 3 month I still havent received my tablet back & I have not been informed on why. I'm hoping you guys can help me, thanks.Desired Settlement: I would like my tablet either repaired or replaced. I want my warranty to be honored.

Review: After 3 months of owning a Coby Kyros MID7048 tablet for my grandson, the tablet locked. Contacted Coby and was told to send it back via FedEx ($15.00) and enclose a money order for $15.00 (return S&H charge) to their California site. Said it would take 4-6 weeks. I sent it in on June **, 2013. After 4 weeks called and was told database was not updated yet (could not give me any status on tablet), called another week, still no update. Then started calling every few days, their phone number kept referring me to their website, website was useless, their customer service email did not work. After researching Coby customer service reviews online, I discovered there are numerous complaints similar to mine, some still waiting for their product for 6 months or longer.Desired Settlement: Refund for my $30.00 I spent returning product and an upgraded exchange of product.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased the sound bar with wireless subwoofer, model: CSMP95, by Coby Electronics Corporation on February **, 2013. The unit worked as promised for about 30 days until the power button stopped working. The unit remained stuck in the standby position. It had a 90 day complete warranty against defects, so I began to try contacting Coby by phone on the customer support line # ###-###-#### that was provided. I was unsuccessful at contacting a customer representative by phone to make a warranty claim, so I tried sending a number of emails to customer support regarding my claim for repair or replacement of the unit and I received no response to any of my emails.Desired Settlement: I' am requesting that Coby Electronics accept my claim for repair or replacement of the unit I purchased.

Review: I talked to [redacted] of Coby Electronics about my 7inch tablet that I had cracked the screen. He told me to send in a $45 dollar money order with the cracked tablet. On May ** 2013 I sent the tablet and money order in. I called the number ###-###-#### and keep checking on the repair and I would get customer service that they were repairing it.The last time I talk to someone at that number they said it was repaired and was getting ready to ship to me on July *,2013. That's the last time I could reach someone at that number.I still haven't received my tablet and that number is not working now. I cant email the company because it wont let me send a email. I just don't know what to do now its been about 4 months and my tablet and the company had took my tablet. Could you please help me?Desired Settlement: I would like a replacement 7 inch tablet or a refund

Sincerely,

Review: The television we purchased stopped working 3 months after purchase. We called COBY and spoke with [redacted] and were told to send in the television, receipt and a money order for return postage. We sent all of this in March 2013. We spoke with [redacted] a few times between March and July and he kept telling us that our replacement was going to be processed and sent soon. The last time we spoke with anyone at COBY we were told that our replacement television was being shipped that day, that was the end of July 2013. We have been calling and emailing everyday since mid August 2013 and have had no response from anyone.Desired Settlement: I would like our television replaced with a new one that will last for more than 3 months and a refund of the $25.00 money order we purchased and sent with our defective television, that was supposed to be for return postage of a new television, and 50% of the purchase price ($160) of the television refunded to us too.

Sincerely,

Review: Consumer purchased a Coby television which stopped working. Consumer contacted Coby and was instructed to return the television to Coby returns, [redacted]. Consumer has proof of return, including a copy of sales slip and a return approval letter provided by the company. [redacted]. of company customer service department authorized the return. Consumer has the insurance slip and tracking slip from Post Office. Post Office has confirmed that Coby in [redacted] has received and signed for the returned television set. The consumer mailed the defective TV to the company on July **, 2013. Consumer has not received the replacement (new television) as promised.Desired Settlement: Consumer wants the replacement television shipped immediately to his home.

Review: On April [redacted] I contacted Coby Customer Service to requesting repair on two personal portable dvd players. I was the items could be repaired under warranty and to ship the items to Coby. As of today, we have not received our two personal dvd players back. I do have confirmation that they were received by Coby and I have made several attempts to contact them to resolve this issues. I do have email documentation that I can send to you as well.Desired Settlement: I would just like our personal dvd players repaired and returned.

Review: I purchased two tablet computers from Coby via [redacted]. Both came with one year warranties, and before the year was up both needed repair. I contacted customer service about them and after speaking to a representative I was authorized to send one unit in under warranty and the other I would have to pay for the repair. I was instructed to get money orders and to mail them to their repair facility at [redacted]. Due to some unrelated issues I was unable to send the units off immediately, but I sent them off a little over a month later after checking their website to make sure the address hadn't changed. I obtained two money orders, one for $15 (warranty repair) and the other for $45 (non warranty repair) and mailed both units via priority mail, spending around $25 in postage to do so. The package was refused with no explanation. After getting it back from the post office I noticed the package was ripped. I thought that might somehow be the reason, but to be sure I attempted to email customer service. I never received a reply, but as the information about warranty repair hadn't changed I attempted to send the units out again but in a more secure package. Once again, it was refused, but this time there was no damage to the box. I tried multiple times to call the company and tried emailing, but I never received a response. I tried calling their headquarters but either got a busy signal or got a very vague voicemail directing me to their website.Desired Settlement: Refund of postage fees ($50), repair or refund of the cost of the two tablets ($110 and $120)

Sincerely,

Review: I received a Coby MID-1045 as a gift from my wife in December 2012. The unit was originally purchased from [redacted]. The unit stopped working (it would no longer boot) so I contacted customer support via email. I was provided with an address to send the defective unit to (I had to include a check for $15.00 for return shipping). The unit was shipped, and received by Coby on approximately 05/**/13. I called about 2 weeks later to check the status of my warranty claim, and was told it would take 6-8 weeks to process (I'm not sure why it takes 6-8 weeks to process a warranty claim). I called again after 6 weeks and was told that they did have my unit, but I wouldn't receive my replacement for another two weeks because they were moving from Georgia to somewhere in California. I called again last week on 07/**/13 (at the 8 week mark) and was told that customer service hadn't received an updated status of warranty claims since 07/**/13, but he would email someone and try to get an update for me and that I should call back on Friday 07/**/13. I attempted to call back on 07/** as well as 07/** during their posted operating hours, but was greeted by a recording advising directing me to the internet ([redacted]) for support with no option to speak to a live person. I tried contacting the corporate office in New York, but can't get through to anyone without knowing their direct extension.Desired Settlement: I would like to get a replacement unit or a refund of the purchase price so I can go purchase a replacement on my own.

Sincerely,

Review: I sent my Coby tablet to "Coby Returns" in April 2013 for repair while it was still under warranty. For the past 4 months they have been giving me the run around. And now they are not answering their phones ! They owe me $200 for my tablet that they NEVER returned, plus $15 for my Return Shipping money order, plus another $13.90 for shipping, handling, and insurance. I'm VERY angry that they have wasted my time and stolen my money !Desired Settlement: A refund for $228.90 !

Review: I purchased a Coby Kyros MID1042-8 tablet in December of 2012 from [redacted]. The apps that I originally downloaded are no longer functioning and updates are not available through GetJar. I have called customer service (as instructed by the manual) and I never get to speak to a person. There is just a recorder advising to go online to the support link. The support link has a place where you can send an email to coby - this functin does not work. I sent coby an email via my [redacted] email account several times and no one ever gets back to me. This tablet is useless to me - I can't perform my banking or get the apps that I reference most. I have tried to reach coby, so that in good faith, they can honor a return or an upgrade to the current tablet. Very frustrating not to have anyone in this company to discuss the issue.Desired Settlement: Replacement of a tablet with [redacted] so that I can access more common apps (ex: chase banking) or a complete refund of the price I paid for the tablet.

Review: I have contacted Coby on numerous occasions with no results, including the following email sent today 8/*. All phone numbers including the corporate office are either not in service or hang up on me when I call. I sent in two computer tablets back in April 2013 for repair/replacment according to their warranty. I also sent 110.00 for the repair in the case that they could be repaired. Reference numbers are listed below.

Review: I bought a coby tablet, and it needed repairs. I sent it in for the repairs and I have tracking on it so I know that it arrived in georgia on may **, 2013. I had to send a 15 dollar money order as well so they could send it back. I was told it would take 6 wks to repair, I have not heard from them at all, and every number I call does not work. i've went to their website and emailed them and still no response. the number that is on their website to call directs you to their website, there is no one to talk to. when going on their website I found that im not the only one with this problem. I have also called fingerhut which is where I ordered the coby tablet from and they told me coby is no longer in business and advised me to contact the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I either need my repaired tablet back or a refund for my tablet

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a Coby 32" LED TV from Fred Meyer's in December 2012 for $149.99. My first issue with the TV was that the main connection to the TV stopped working. We were able to fix that problem by using a HDMI cable. Since Dec my son has been gone for 4 months so the TV has only been used for 4 months. He returned home in Aug and at the beginning of Sept the screen on the went out and the only way to turn the TV off is by unplugging it. I have attempted to contact Coby Electronics via email and I haven't had any response from the company.Desired Settlement: I would like a response from the company in ref to my emails and I would like a replacement TV. The TV didn't break the bank but I do expect it to last longer than 4 months.

Sincerely,

Review: I had sent the e-mail below on 7/**/13 and have had no response whatsoever.

I have tried every possible phone number that I can find online and have NOT been able to reach anyone.

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR BACK on this within the next two days or I will be contacting the Consumer Protection Bureau with all of the information that I have compiled trying to get my tablet fixed and returned to me.

It has been almost 15 weeks since this process was started and I am GREATLY DISSAPOINTED!!!!

Please contact me at the phone number and/or e-mail address below with some resolution.

Phone: ###-###-#### mon-thurs 8am-6pm

As explained in the attached e-mails I had sent my Kyros Tablet for repair on April [redacted]. I had waited the required 6 weeks to hear back from your company. Below is the summary of phone calls that were made between June [redacted] and July [redacted]. All with absolutely no resolution.

June [redacted]-Spoke to [redacted] and was told that they were “ 6 weeks behind”.

June [redacted] Spoke to [redacted] and was told that model 7036 MI is no longer made and they will check to see what updated model they will replace it with and told to check back on 6/**.

June [redacted]- Spoke to [redacted] and was told that” the estimated ship date was that week.”

July [redacted] spoke to [redacted] and was told “the possible ship date was 7/*.”

July [redacted] Spoke to [redacted] again and was told that model # MID 7047 was scheduled to be shipped on July [redacted], but they “may have had a hiccup”.

July [redacted] Spoke to [redacted] and was told that “there were no spread sheets yet”

July [redacted]- Spoke to [redacted] and was told that “ a couple of things had shipped “ and he had no idea when it (I assume he meant the spread sheet) will be updated.

July [redacted]- called the customer service number and the recording said to go online. Then I was disconnected several times.

At this point your company has had my tablet for 66 business days. A total of 13 WEEKS!!! Needless to say, I am less than pleased with service, or lack thereof, that I have received. I feel that some compensation should be given to me. Maybe you could replace my current tablet with a Coby 8GB MID7065-8 7" Android 4.0 Tablet with the additional memory. I think that I have been MORE THAN PATIENT. I had been planning to take my tablet with me on vacation and was disappointed that I was not able to use it while away. I would like to clear this up SOON, without having to send copies of all of these e-mails to the Revdex.com.

I look forward to hearing from you SOON.

Thanks,

Sincerely,

Review: I sent my Coby Tablet in for a exchange in June 2013 in which they said they would exchange for a new one and it would be 4 to 6 weeks for the new one to arrive and they said to start calling for a tracking number because they don't send emails when the product is shipped and by this being electronics I wanted to be on the lookout for it ....so I started calling every week around the middle of July and spoke to a nice representative named "[redacted]" who always would tell me no tracking number yet call back next week so I did that but spoke to a different man on July [redacted] and man told me the warehouse was closed for inventory and to call back next Thursday which was August [redacted] called and I couldn't get a live person...the recording just says go to the website and hangs up..I go to the website and it's only other contact numbers that doesn't work or no answer....I called numbers all day Friday the next day no luck...sent Emails today no response and I'm moving in a week and I can't get no one just in case I need to give a new address.Desired Settlement: I just want my tablet because I paid extra for the warranty and sent them a extra 15 dollars they ask for for shipping it back.

Review: I bought 2 coby tablets from [redacted] in November of 2012. Two months later the charger port breaks on one of them. I look in to contacting the Coby customer support via there webstite cobyusa.com to get some assistance. The site gives the number ###-###-####, which leads to a recording which directs you back to the site. So in essence the number is useless. I found another number on their site noted as the Coby company contact number which leads to either a directory where no one answers their phones or to an operator who is never there and has a full voicemail. So I tried the directory randomly trying in 3 digits, I did this three times and each time no one answered and my calls were directed to voicemail. This may sound minor but as you see below via the [redacted] I am not the only person with this problem. Please see the various supporting complaints.

I guess same problem as everyone else. Sent in Coby tablet MID 7022 for repair with a $15 money order and letter of reason for repair as instructed by Coby rep.

Was told it would be approx 6-8 weeks.

Called back a few weeks later and told that tablet has been rec'd in warehouse, and they will not repair but will totally replace it with a new one but no update as to when it will be mailed out. It was a b day gift for 10 yr old daughter, and everyday she asked where her tablet is???? Can't get any answers from anyone!! Very disappointed in Coby Electronics!!

I don't know what kind of company you are but your customer service is terrible, can't get any information about my tablet no on answers the phone.

Review: I purchased a Coby Kyros 9.7 inch 8Gb Tablet from a Toys R Us store in my hometown around 01/**/2013, for my wife . I paid $281.08 including tax. The tablet worked for about a month, just stopped working, I tried to return it to Toys R Us but they said to send it back to Coby Electronics. I contacted Coby and after the technician could not successfully help me fix the tablet over the phone, I was instructed to mail the tablet back to them (Coby) for repairs. I was also told to pay the postage to ship it back to them and to send them a $15.00 money order for them to ship it back to me when it was repaired. Not sure on this date, however, around March or April 2013, they returned the tablet back to me and said it was working. After a few days, the tablet stopped working again. I call the company to report the problem. A technician tried to assist me with fixing the tablet over the phone, again. It still didn't work. I was instructed again, to send the tablet back to (Coby) for repairs. Again, on May *, 2013, I paid $10.38 to ship the tablet back to (Coby) and sent a $15.00 money order for (Coby) to send the tablet back to me when it was repaired, just like I was told to do. Now. here it is August **, 2013, a whole three months later and I haven't heard a word from them, except, once when they said that they didn't have the tablet, or it could be in the California warehouse. Since then, my wife and myself have called the main number and several other number trying to reach someone. We get the a recorded message. It either goes to the operator, then the operator voice mail comes on, and says that the voice mail is full, then it goes right back to the main recoding and keeps repeating itself.
