Coby Electronics Corp. Reviews (398)

Review: On November **, 20*2 I purchased a Coby Electronics Kyros 7inches 4GB Tablet at ToysRUs for $69.99 + ewaste fee of $6.00. I added the Buyer Protection Plan for $*9.99 because I was informed by sales representative at ToysRUs I could return it for replacement under the warranty.

In February the tablet's touch screen stopped working. I went to ToysRUs and was told to contact [redacted] or ###-###-####. They offered to only refund the cost of the device where I wanted to have a working tablet. They mailed me the return label if I wanted to proceed with $69.99 refund.

I called about Coby Electronic's product warranty and was told they were aware of the touch screen issue and would replace the tablet if I mailed it to them at no cost. On 2/**/20*3 I shipped through the US Postal Service the re-packaged tablet to [redacted] attention Coby Electronics Corp. with insurance coverage for $*3.70.

I called Coby Electronics and confirmed the tablet was registered to me, that they received it and asked for a reference number. They logged it in their system with a March 20*3, provided me a reference number and informed me of a change in their shipping process had delayed issuance of a replacement tablet. Their procedure was to email the shipping department for an update that would be received within 48 hours. As they failed to follow-up and update met I called Coby Electronics at ###-###-#### repeatedly from April through July and spoke with their call center representatives and supervisors. The last phone contact I had was on 7/**/20*3 with [redacted] (last name unknown). Like the other times, I provided my reference number and he repeated to tell me about their shipping departments delays and their procedure to email for updates. My profile already showed two earlier email requests made in July on 7/*/20*3 and 7/**/02*3. He had no escalation procedures and offered their New York corporate phone number for me to contact. I tried the ###-###-#### and received a recording. In August, I also called and left voice mail messages intended for the office of the president, [redacted] at ###-###-####. There have been no replies.

As of late July 20*3, when I call Coby Electronics customer support number their is a recording that directs callers to their website and email inquiries. There are no longer call center representatives to provide service calls. I have sent repeated emails on their website, to [redacted] and [redacted] on 7/**/20*3, 7/**/20*3, 8/*/20*3, 8/*/20*3, 8/**/20*3, and 8/**,20*3 with no response from Coby Electronics.

I am looking for assistance with this issue and would like for consumers to be aware of their poor customer service, likeliness the merchandise will stop working, their unfulfilled product warranty, and one's personal time and expenses associated with pursuing to contact Coby Electronics. Their business practices are unethical and unjust to consumers.

I have copies of Protection Plan purchased, Coby Electronics product warranty, Post Office receipt of shipping and insurance, as well as, copies of emails sent. Coby has failed to provide any letters or notices to acknowledge business dealings with consumers.Desired Settlement: Requesting replacement or refund

Sincerely,

Review: I mailed my Coby tablet to Coby for repair on May [redacted] with a 15 dollar money order, they were suppose to fix the charger plug because it was pushed in. When I go online to find out about my tablet, all the phone numbers just ring or are disconnected. The email has not been going through until today. Today I did get a line through successfully. All the other times that would not go through. I have made numerous attempts to contact them with no luck. Never was able to talk to anyone.Desired Settlement: My tablet returned fixed.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased the Coby tablet last Christmas for my daughter, after a few months there was a piece inside that came loose and therefore could not charge the unit. I ended up calling Coby and was told it was under warranty and that all I had to do was pay a shipping charge of $15 and they would repair it and send it back. I sent it out on May [redacted], 2013 and it was received on May [redacted] from checking the tracking #. I was told it would take 4-6 weeks in total to get it back. It has now been over 4 months and when I call there is a recording that directs you to go online so you can't even talk to anyone. I've sent several emails even the last one saying I would contact my lawyer and the Revdex.com and still nothing.Desired Settlement: I would either like the Tablet returned fixed or even better a refund. I will never buy another Coby product after this experience.

Sincerely,

Review: I purchased a Coby Kyros 9.7 inch 8Gb Tablet from a Toys R Us store in my hometown around 01/**/2013, for my wife . I paid $281.08 including tax. The tablet worked for about a month, just stopped working, I tried to return it to Toys R Us but they said to send it back to Coby Electronics. I contacted Coby and after the technician could not successfully help me fix the tablet over the phone, I was instructed to mail the tablet back to them (Coby) for repairs. I was also told to pay the postage to ship it back to them and to send them a $15.00 money order for them to ship it back to me when it was repaired. Not sure on this date, however, around March or April 2013, they returned the tablet back to me and said it was working. After a few days, the tablet stopped working again. I call the company to report the problem. A technician tried to assist me with fixing the tablet over the phone, again. It still didn't work. I was instructed again, to send the tablet back to (Coby) for repairs. Again, on May *, 2013, I paid $10.38 to ship the tablet back to (Coby) and sent a $15.00 money order for (Coby) to send the tablet back to me when it was repaired, just like I was told to do. Now. here it is August **, 2013, a whole three months later and I haven't heard a word from them, except, once when they said that they didn't have the tablet, or it could be in the California warehouse. Since then, my wife and myself have called the main number and several other number trying to reach someone. We get the a recorded message. It either goes to the operator, then the operator voice mail comes on, and says that the voice mail is full, then it goes right back to the main recoding and keeps repeating itself.

Review: I purchased a Coby tablet, Kyros Model: MID7033, on September [redacted] 2012 for my child's birthday. Rarely did she play on this, but suddenly it would not charge anymore. I went on the comapny's website ( www.cobyusa.com ) and have tried calling every number that is listed. Each number is a recorder and does not allow you to talk to a customer service representative. I even tried emailing the company in the "drop us a line" spot on the website. I then received an email back from [redacted] that stated "This email address is no longer valid as of 7/**/2013". The warrenty, I assume, is almost up and I have no way of contacting the company to have my issue resolved. I do not want to be out almost $100, especially for a product that was not worth the money in the first place.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a way of contacting the company so I can have this issue resolved. A company's website should have a number that customer's are able to call to speak to a representative.

Review: I was instructed to send in my Coby Kyros tablet MID9742-8 for repair as it was less than a year old & no longer working. I sent it to Coby Returns in [redacted] with a $15 money order on April **, 2013. According to my tracking number my packaged was received on April **, 2013. I was informed the repair would take 4-6 weeks. I have yet to receive my tablet. The customer service number directs you to their web site and doesn't allow you to talk to an actual person. I have e-mailed their customer service and tech support and have never received a response.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a functioning Coby Kyros tablet.

Sincerely,

Review: In February 2013, I purchased the Coby Kyros Mid-1042. When I firt used the tablet, immediately there was something wrong with it. I called Coby and was instructed what to do to get it to operate. In April 2013, The tablet wouldn't operate again stating it could not connect with the internet. I called Coby again. I was instructed to send the tablet back with the sales receipt ans a money order for $15. In May * , I did just that. When I called customer service in JUne *, I was told the tablet was in the warehouse and there was no info on it and to call back. In jUly I called customer service again. This time I was told the tablet would be sent me a new one. On July ** I called again thinking I should have received it by now. The customer service rep told me there was a problem in the warehouse and they had not received their new shipment of tablets to send me mine. On July **, I called to speak to a supervisor about this issue but there were no supervisors available. I was told the warehouse had temporarily closed and would not open again until August. When I started calling in August, there were no customer service reps. The voicemail directs you to Cobyusa online. When you go online there's no way to email anyone because the lines don't engage. Coby has had my tablet for 5 months along with my $15 money order. There's no way to reach a human being. All you get are answering services.Desired Settlement: I would like to have a new tablet back along with the $15 fee I paid to have them ship my tablet to me. Its been 5 months with no reasonable explanation why my merchandise hasn't been shipped. When you call their numbers, the phone will just ring. I want them to pay or my aggravation and frustration during these past 5 months. This is a complete disgrace to merchants and hopefully their not still selling their products in stores.

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Coby Electronics Corp. regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved becauseTe company has been taken over by Gordon bros. and apparently tis company has nothing to do wit Coby Electronics transactions andteir lack of customer service. Te warehouse were all the merchandise that was returned by consumers is still in one of three warehouses and no one knows the status of if or wen the consumers will receive their merchandise or the monies sent in to return the merchandise back to the consumer.Basically, it comes down to all the consumers with returns to Coby expecting to receive replacement or repaired merchandise has been ripped off. We still haven't gotten answers from Coby Electronics about what their status is nor have we gotten our replacement merchandise or our monies.

What if anything can the Revdex.com do to assist consumers like me that are in the same horrid situation? Is there anything you all can do to help us consumers to get our monies returned to us by either Coby Electronics or Gordon Bros.? Any assistance you can give, I'm sure will be grately appreciated by not only me but the thousands of other consumers that feel like Coby Electronics has taken us for a ride.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: I spoke with Coby about product warranty on my tablet and was advised to send a $15.00 money order for return delivey and I sent them my tablet in May 2013 and haven't can't get a hold of a live representative. I've called several numbers listed for the company and either the mailbox (operator) is full or it directs me to visit the website and send an email. I've sent an email and not response.

Review: I bought 2 televisions brand new on December ** 2012 and they both quit within 90 day warranty period and they will not call email or fix per the agreement.Desired Settlement: I want both televisions replaced or a refund of $1265.00

Review: My Coby TV with Dvd sparked a fire in the stand. The fire started from TV not outlet. I have not been able to contact Coby via web page because it does not work and no working telephone number. I purchased the TV at [redacted] 2/**/2012. When I contacted HH Greg they told me to contact Coby. This TV is a fire hazard and needs pulled or recall from the market. The model is TFDVD32 95 and the serial [redacted].Desired Settlement: recall and replacement

Review: We purchased (5) Coby Kyros tablets on Black Friday 2012 for $70 each, and they were given as Christmas presents. One of these tablets did not work AT ALL when we tried it. Because it was over 30 days, Toys r Us would not let us return the product. We contacted Coby and were given a return number which we did. After 8 weeks of waiting and no product we contacted Coby again and were told we needed to send a $15 money order to pay for reshipment and we would have our new tablet in 3-4 weeks. Very reluctantly we did so (in July 2013), but that was the last we heard from Coby. If you go online you are instructed to call. If you call you are instructed to go online. We've sent several emails and called many dozens of times but to no avail. Coby USA has our $70 tablet that never worked AND our $15 money order.Desired Settlement: We want all of our money back. This has been a complete nightmare. All (4) of the other tablets that originally worked, are now broken or dont work properly anymore and I wouldnt dare try to send them back to Coby. We have our receipt, we have the USPS receipt and tracking number from when we sent the tablet to Coby, and we have the receipt and tracking number of the money order we sent.

Review: I received a Coby mid 8065 Tablet as a service anniversary gift from DuPont 7/**/13. Where they got it from I don't know. This tablet worked for about a month. It won't connect to Wifi now. Anything I do doesn't help. There is a 90 day warranty period that it coming up. I have tried to contact them numerous times through their website (cobyusa.com) with no response. I have found 3 phone numbers from their website along with searching the net. No answer from any of the numbers. The number on the website is for customer service. You call and it directs you to go to the website. I've taken it to 2 repair shops and they won't touch a Coby product.Desired Settlement: I would like the tablet replaced before the warranty is up.

Review: I sent in my MID7042 Tablet with a $15.00 money order for return s/h plus an added insurance on 6/*/13 as instructed by [redacted] from Coby. This was to get my USB host connector fixed. I contacted them about 3 weeks ago called about 3 times during the week and was told I was getting a replacement sent to me but they didn't have an update and to keep calling to find out when it will be shipped out. Well I never did get an update and now nobody is answering their phone or emails and I still haven't received my tablet. My tablet cost me 104.99 + 15.00 money order + 21.32 shipping and insurance = 141.31 TotalDesired Settlement: I would like the replacement like they promised as soon as possible.

Review: I've sent my tablet to coby corp. to get fixed in April 2013 it is now August 2013 I haven't received it back yet this is very unfair to me because I have work I need to get complete with my tablet and I can not get it done without it and also had to send a $15.00 money order for shipping and handling my tablet cost $100.00Desired Settlement: I would like my tablet or money for my tablet plus my shipping and handling

Review: I purchased a coby tablet from a store called choice wireless in [redacted], on march **, 2013. On April *, 2013 the charging port fell into the tablet so that we were unable to charge it. I contacted the store that I purchased it from and they informed me that it was a warranty issue and I needed to contact the coby company. I did this on April *, 2013. The customer service representative that I spoke to said that the tablet was defiantly covered by the company's warranty and all I needed to do was send the tablet in along with a 15$ cashiers check to cover the return shipping. I was told that I could expect a replacement tablet or for my tablet to be fixed in 6-8 weeks. I sent the money order for 15$ on that same day. I waited for over a month before calling to check on the status of my tablet. I was told that they did not have it in their systems yet and to wait a couple more weeks. I waited two more weeks , called back and was told the same thing. The next week I called and was informed that they had it in their system and that they were not only going to replace the tablet but were going to replace it with an upgraded version of the tablet. Unfortunately they were out of that particular model in their warehouse so it would take a couple more weeks. I called again in the beginning of july and was informed that they had the tablet marked to be shipped. I waited a week and when I still did not receive the tablet I called and they told me that for an unknown reason the tablet was not shipped even though it was scheduled to be shipped. I called back a week later and they said they had not received an update, so I waited two more days and when I tried to call any of their customer service number I was greeted by and automated message saying that for support or customer service I needed to email them. I sent my first email on July **, 2013, and my second email explaining my situation on august * 2013 and still have not had any contact with them.Desired Settlement: I would simply like the 100 $ I paid for the tablet back, along with the 15 $ I sent for shipping
