Engine Shopper Reviews (517)

We do not guarantee shipping times, nor can we control any delays caused by the shipping company.  We suggest the complainant call the shipping company and request reimbursement as we cannot assist with this request.

The customer never provided suffice int proof to his claim.  Our records indicate the engine had approximately 68,000 miles as advertised and sold under.  We do not pull records for the car and simply go by what is stated on the odometer when the engine is pulled from the car.  Any of...

our sales people will explain this one calling in and inquiring as we do not try to hide this fact.  Often we do not have records for the car due to the actual car being scrapped after all the parts are pulled from the car so it can be very difficult and at times impossible to locate these records.  If the customer had found an actual defect or was able to prove the claim, we would of gladly sent out a replacement at no charge even though it is not covered under the Free Warranty.  Therefore, we cannot refund when the customer has no proof of their claim. The customer was denied the charge back from his Credit Card for the same reason as you must provide proof when making such claims.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The business has not offered any solution at all.  I never asked for reimbursement, I only requested replacement, for seized rocker arms (lifters don’t exist on this Honda engine) as was my original request to Got Engines from the beginning and is the solution for this Revdex.com complaint.  The rocker arm adjustment nuts and screws were seized in to the threaded portion of the rocker arms.  You cannot adjust the valve lash with seized nuts and screws within the rocker arm assembly.  Got Engines requires that installed engine valve lash must be adjusted to proper factory specifications and these rocker arms shipped with this engine made that impossible.  Got Engines asked me for a replacement rocker arm quote that I provided to resolve this issue and they have not responded at all.  I have all email correspondence, photo of damaged parts and quote for replacement rocker arms as proof I made attempt after attempt to work with Got Engines but since they elected to stop responding I have had to resort to this Revdex.com complaint.  I state again, please send me replacement rocker arms (8 intake rocker arms and 8 exhaust rocker arms, you have my quote) for a 1995 Honda Accord EX 2.2 liter 4 cylinder VTEC engine with freely working adjustment nuts and screws as I have been waiting since October 7, 2014.  Got Engines mission statement has language on their website to deliver engines “WITHOUT excessive deterioration” and it was not what I received.  What I received is what I could buy from a local wrecking yard for less than half of what I paid to Got Engines.  Thank you.
Regards,

[redacted]  My credit card company only gave a credit of $256.25, the transaction I cancelled before the motor shipped was $995.00

We have reviewed the complaint of the customer and found the claims invalid. The reason the warranty claim was denied is the customer did not follow the instructions which are clearly and prominently displayed on his online invoice (sales documentation) as well as a bright large yellow engine...

installation requirement tag which is attached to the engine on delivery.  The customer did not replace the timing belt as shown which in fact voids the Free Warranty.  Had the customer followed the instructions, the warranty claim would of been reviewed and decided upon that time.  Unfortunately, when you do not follow the instructions the Free Warranty is no longer valid.  These are used engines and require certain procedures to be done to activate the Free Warranty.

The Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty clearly states in the LIMITED LIABILITY FOR TRANSMISSIONS section: “Warranty must be activated within 10 business days of delivery OR ALL WARRANTIES WILL VOIDED. Falsifying information will automatically void your warranty.” The Terms and Conditions must be agreed to upon before making the purchase and is indicated by the standard checkbox seen on most sites. https://www.qualityusedtransmissions.com/warranty.php Our system records all attempts to activate the warranty automatically as a log file. The complainant wanted a refund  for his purchase, but due to the warranty being voided and installation of the transmission over 30 days from purchase, the complainant's claim was denied.

All customers are made aware of the Warranty Activation requirement which is fairly standard in our industry.  All customers are informed of this requirement in the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty, which must be read and agreed upon before the purchase, which can be found on the web site at: http://www.gotengines.com/warranty.html.  The Warranty Activation requirement is also in bold and emphasized on the invoice after the purchase.  We apologize if this was not enough to make this customer aware of this process, but we do make a point to make this more than clear and most customers have no issues noticing. GotEngines has not changed it's name as claimed, it is simply an independent affiliate site and has been for some time.   We encourage all customers to pay close attention to the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty when making a purchase so we do not have run into situations like this.

This engine is not eligible for the parts and labor warranty. The parts and labor warranty does not cover initial installation. Everything is done per warranty terms that you agreed to before we shipped the engine. Please read it.

This business is running a scam plain and simple.  They have provided me with nothing but excuses to every issue I have brought to their attention.  They hide all important information that the consumer needs to know in "fine print" that no normal person is ever going to see.  They sent me a piece of junk and will not stand behind the service they provide or the parts they sell, yet they charge a premium price.  They have nothing but rude to me on the phone.  I will never do business with these people again and I will tell everyone I know what a scam they are running.  If I can find anyplace on the internet to leave a negative review I will do that as well.  Businesses such as this should not be in business and are only out to take people's money.

I was SHOCKED to read the response from the business.  The only truth in that statement was that the damaged items were the front pulley and the timing cover.  None of what they claim to have "told" me was ever said, and I did not "wait" three months to file a claim.
The engine was delivered on January 2, 2015.  The damage was reported immediately upon unwrapping the engine, which was delivered and unwrapped in front of witnesses.  The damage was documented by pictures at that time.
I called Engine and Transmission world immediately after the damage was found.  I spoke to [redacted], who told me to send the invoice for the repair and I would be reimbursed.  For reference, I sent, on January 4th, the original pictures of the damage.  Two weeks later, I re-sent the pictures along with the invoice for the repair.  A week after that, I followed up with a phone call that was not returned, and another email.  For the next three months, I sent emails and made phone calls that were not returned.  On March 18, 2015, I received the following email from [redacted]:  "We got it and we will give you credit for switching the pulleys."  When I still hadn't been reimbursed four weeks later, I followed up with another email.  I have yet to be reimbursed.  All of the emails were included in my original Revdex.com complaint.  Obviously, no one bothered to read them.

I purchased a $2850 used engine (51k miles) with a 3 year/36k mile warranty. After less than 5000 miles, additional service/repairs to this engine have already exceeded an additional $5000.
The "Warranty Department" and Alex [redacted] at Engine Shopper has given me the run`around in addition to numerous unprofessional email communications and will not honor any part of the warranty.
I truly wish I would have done additional research prior to purchasing from this online trap.

The complainant is requesting a refund as they feel they did not get the engine they saw online and had issues with length of shipping. The image that the complainant is shown during the buying process is only a representation of what the engine would look like for visual purposes. The image they see may or may not be the actual engine that the complainant received in the end. If the complainant is not satisfied with the engine we shipped to them, they are subject to a 25% handling and restocking fees plus customer assumes all shipping costs for returned products. Usual shipping times are about 7-14 business days but due to some unusual circumstances please allow additional time. It does at times take longer to prep and get the engine ready for shipment. We in the end did ship the complainant the engine they purchased and would be looking at the restocking fee and shipping costs if they wanted to get an additional engine as the image online is only a representation and may not the actual engine purchased.

I still have not heard from the company on handling of the parts bill to repair the timing cover.  A refund for the parts is expected but this has not occurred yet.  No word from the management either.

This is exactly what I am talking about. There is no professional manner, I refuse to keep arguing back and forth. I want someone from the Revdex.com to step in. This "company" or whoever they are because they are not a business, there SCAMMERS has an ALERT from the Revdex.com, that says enough! Very rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional!

We are contacting Front Line Motors today and arranging to have both engines picked up and will resume talks once we receive them back and can inspect.  Please make sure they are available for pickup and we receive full cooperation.

This is a very old case and we are not able to look into the tracking of the shipment any longer.  According to our records we never received the item back. In order to settle this case, we will need the complainant  to attach/send all proof of where the return was received, customer...

claims Appleton Recycling, and we will review the case further. Furthermore, the complaintant claims we sent the wrong engine and this is simply not the case.  The complainant ordered via the web whichs means a Representative did not place the order for him and therefore we cannot take resposibility here.  If the complaintant called and inquired about what engine he needed, the Represeantative would of only been able to advise based off the information given at this time. Please provide all documentation and we will review the case further and come to a decision.

I finally received the correct engine and I am satisfy with it. However, the engine I was sold by the company was a 4.3 lts TBI with 69 thousand miles in it. What I received was an engine with 200K plus, missing parts and the wrong one. The company refused to listen to me, messages were not answer, and the run around was on for almost two months. I requested the refund money and was told it would take five months to receive the refund. It was after, I contacted you people at Revdex.com, the day after to be specific that they called me telling me I could not get refund money and that they were going to send me an engine, would I wanted or not. They even tried to sell me the same engine for $2300 dollars. I was not looking for extra parts, just the parts I bought. Which was a 1994 Chevy 4.3 LTS TBI engine, complete, tested, with 69K in it, everything included, minus the power steering pump, AC compressor, pulleys, Alternator, and belts. Everything else was included. I have all the emails back and forwards with this company. HOW EVER, AT THIS MOMENT, I INSTALLED THE ENGINE AND WORKS FINE. I do want the company to be investigated for false advertisement, if possible.

Material and workmanship is at question.  the response from the business does not resolve the issue.  We need further assistance to reach an agreement.

We are not sure why this complainant is seeking restitution.  The Terms and Conditions which was marked as read and agreed to upon purchasing clearly state there will be a 25% restocking fee when cancelling your order.  This is also the reason the complainant finds the same "problem"....

This should not be a surprise unless the purchaser does not read the Terms and Conditions when purchasing as they have indicated.  We encourage all potential buyers to read all the Terms and Conditions of the sale before making such a large purchase.  The Terms and Conditions can be read in it's entirety by visiting: http://www.swengines.com/warranty.php.
