Engine Shopper Reviews (517)

Our Customer Service Representative specifically stated in the email “we will offer a credit to you if your mechanic thinks the engine is still useable.” After the removal of the head, the mechanic deemed the engine as unusable.  The reason the CSR stated that we would only offer...

credit if the engine is useable is due to the fact that the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty clearly states, which all customers must agree to before making their purchase, under Line 6 of the Limitations section: “Warranty does not cover initial installation.” We sent out a replacement on 4/25 and we have not been notified the engine has been installed and no Warranty activation attempt has been made on the replacement engine.  The complainant still has both engines and we will be forced to take legal action if the initial engine is not returned in the next 30 days.

An email was sent to them on 5-23-2015 with photos attached. I did not degrade any of there customer service reps
I explained the condition of the engine and all they did was transfer me to someone else, which I left a voicemail.
As far as today I asked if they can give me another email address so I can send more photos of the engine, but they didn't
instead they transferred  me to [redacted] voicemail. I also called the bank to help with the situation which they temporarily credited
me the money until they can further complete the investigation. (The money they credited me is the banks money) not from the vendor.
They are welcome to refund my full amount to Chase bank and pick up the engine. I am unsatisfied with the condition of the engine. Provide me with
an email address and I will send you the photos and not the one that is posted on the website. I already sent some to that address with no response.
I attached some photos to this email

We have reviewed the customers complaint and are issuing a full refund in this case due to the mishandling of the Representative on the call.  However, the engine was to be delivered in the allotted time allowed as we make no guarantees as stated on the site in the FAQs:  "On average,...

pending volume and weather, time for shipping takes approximately 7-14 business days. "  In defense of the customer, had the called been handled differently we of most likely seen a different outcome. We are dealing with the Representative who talked to the customer appropriately as this is not acceptable behavior.  Once again, we apologize and will consider this complaint resolved.

The complainant placed their order on 10/22/2016 then called in on 10/28/2016 to cancel their order. Per the Terms and Conditions of our Free Warranty: Line 3.All returned parts or cancelled orders are subject to a 25% handling and restocking fees plus customer assumes all shipping costs.
href="https://www.swtransmissions.com/warranty.html">https://www.swtransmissi... Since the complainant canceled his order, signed and returned the cancellation email on 11/1/2016, we refuended their money minus the 25% restocking fee.

We spoke to the complainant on 3-2-16 and explained exactly why he warranty was voided and he agreed to the reasoning. We can provide a recording of the call if needed. We called the complainant on 2-23-16 in response to an email.  He informed us of the situation with the transmission and we...

began to investigate the claim.  We give 10 days to activate the Free Warranty after receiving the engine per the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty.  We asked him to send a diagnostic report as standard practice and never received the required documents from the complainant. Upon further investigation, we found the complainant had falsified his warranty activation by putting a delivery date which coincided with his warranty activation date to make the 10 day requirement.  The complainant ordered the Transmission on 12-10-15 and received it on 12-16-15. As you can it would be required to activate your warranty no later than 12-26-15.  This can often be extended if needed by simply calling in and letting us know there is an issue with the installation date beforehand.  The complainant was aware of this and entered a false date which would make the warranty activation valid. Therefore, we have denied the claim based on falsifying information during the warranty activation process. This complainant Free Warranty is now void and null as a result.

The complainant agreed top the Terms and Conditions of the sale before making the purchase, as is required for all...

potential buyers, which clearly states there is 25% restocking fee when cancelling an order.  In most cases we will waive this if it has been less than 24 hours since the order is placed and cancelled. Furthermore, the complainant has many assumptions as to what exactly happens after the order is placed and when it would be delivered with no real knowledge of the process.  The 25% restocking will stand as agreed to by the complainant when placing the order. Our actual complaint rate is less than 1% considering the volume of business we do yearly so the reasoning for cancelling the order is less than justified.

It is clear to me that I did not receive the item that I was lead to believe I would be receiving.  I feel that I should be allowed to return my item at no shipping cost to me and without a restocking fee due to being mislead by this company. I am willing to get any written documents from my mechanic stating my his expertise in this matter on what I have received.  I will only accept in closing this case, by receiving a FULL refund on this engine and SW engines pay the shipping cost back to them. I don't understand why this company felt the need to treat me in such an unfair way and take this amount of money from me in a fraudulent manner.   The attachments added to this response came directly from their web site.

Per our warranty terms gaskets are not covered. Please read what you agreed to.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  The facts of this matter are:
1. I ordered a 1991 Ford E350 Van engine, 7.3 liter, diesel.
2. a 7.3 liter diesel engine for a Ford pickup truck was delivered. I did not order a pickup truck engine. In fact, on their own web site, they themselves make a distinction between the two.
3. The modifications required were not minor and caused significant additional custom work to make the engine fit at a significant cost to me.
4. I am not driving my van yet. My mechanic shop is still working to make it operate properly. The differences between the van engine and the pickup engine are causing operability problems.
5. I live in Alaska and incurred a significant shipping charge to get the engine delivered. Only to discover it was not what I ordered. But for the prohibitive return shipping cost, I would have returned it. Here in Alaska, we make things work in spite of the challenges.
6.  SWengines or Engine and Transmission World or whatever other business names this company uses, have a long jaded history of predatory and deceptive business practices resulting in a shocking number of Revdex.com complaints, numerous complaints through other comsumer protection agencies, lawsuits and pending actions/investigations against them. One need only conduct a cursory search and an avalanche of malfeasance with fill the computer screen. I wish I had conducted a simple search before making my purchase.

customer changed her phone# so the trucking company could not get a hold of her before making a delivery.
she has to pay freight charges to get it redelivered.

The complainant is requesting a full refund of $1865 due to claimed non functional transmission. The complainant purchased a CVT Transmission which under our warranty is not covered.  Warranty Limitations: Line 10: CVT transmissions are not eligible for extended parts and labor warranty. Due to...

this type of transmission purchased it is not covered by the warranty so the claim submitted was denied. Complainant also registered the warranty on day 12 after delivery which puts any claim in void as "Warranty must be activated within 10 business days of delivery OR ALL WARRANTIES WILL VOIDED." https://www.swtransmissions.com/warranty.html. Due to these two points, the claim was denied based on these Terms and Conditions of the warranty.

Our understanding of the cancellation policy was that the 25% cancellation fee would not apply unless we cancelled the order after it had shipped. The fee is ridiculously excessive considering the fact we cancelled so quickly (18 hours later, which equated to not even 6 business hours).  The order never shipped or was even processed. The fee needs to be waived, especially since your customer service is non existent.  You won't even return my phone calls and hung up on me so this is the only way I can even communicate with you.  Waive the fee.

She has purchased an engine from us back on December 11, 2013 and it was for a 2006 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 liter engine, and we sent it to her in a timely manner. She then had called us on August 5, 2014 and said the engine had stopped on her with no other explanation, she had not taken it to a garage yet or nothing, the engine just stopped, that is all she said. So we did some research on her order and she had never activated her extended parts and labor guarantee like required at the time of installation per terms and conditions form that she had agreed to at the time of sale. We tried to help her out with the 180 day parts only guarantee since she never activated the extended warranty, but it was 57 days past 180 day parts only and that claim was also denied. Unfortunately there was nothing we could do for her per contract.
