Review: I bought a transmission from then and they do not stand behind it like they said they would when I bought it. They are not going by their warranty agreement.Desired Settlement: I would like for then to do the right thing and fix the transmission.

The complainant never activated the Free Warranty per the Terms and Conditions of the purchase which all customers must agree to before purchasing. The Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty are prominently displayed on the web site under the header Warranty. In addition, the Terms and Conditions are also displayed during the checkout process. You must select a check box which indicates “I have read and agree to the Terms, Conditions and Warranty above”. Contained within the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty it clearly states in the LIMITED LIABILITY FOR ENGINES/TRANSMISSIONS: “Parts and labor warranty begins on the 14th day & 501st mile after the part is installed. Warranty must be activated within 10 days of delivery OR ALL WARRANTIES WILL VOIDED.” There is also a prominent link on the invoice once the purchase has been completed letting the customer know Warranty Activation is necessary. This is standard procedure with our industry and not exclusive to our individual business practices. The complainant had ordered both a transmission and engine from us and approximately two months after the order had not activated the Free Warranty for either. Regardless of this fact we attempted to work with the complainant on the claim. We informed the complainant to send over the diagnostic report and invoice from the shop he had the transmission installed and if all checked out we would send him a replacement. After receiving the diagnostic report and invoice from the complainant’s mechanic, we discovered he had made an additional violation of the Terms and Conditions in which the Transmission Filter was not changed. These are used transmissions and not new require care before installing which stipulated in the Terms and Conditions under the Exclusion section, Line 23: “We do not warranty oil leaks/damage on engines or transmissions due to non-replaced seals, gaskets or filters.” Therefore, the Free Warranty is now void for the reason of not following the Terms and Conditions of the Warranty. Please let us know if you need any further assistance in resolving this matter.

Review: I purchased a used engine from their division SW Engines. They represented it as having 27,500 miles on it. When it failed and my dealer checked the VIN on the engine, they found that the engine actually had 114,000 miles on it before it was brought in as part of a total wreck.Desired Settlement: I want a refund, a refund of the labor it cost to install the engine, and these thieves to be put out of business.

we are contacting the customer right now to rectify the issue.

Review: My husband ordered an engine for my vehicle on the afternoon of Friday, July 25. I called the morning of Saturday, July 26 at 9:00 AM to cancel the order as we had decided to trade my car in rather than repair it. First I was informed I could not cancel my order and that I would have to call back Monday. I was told the business was not even open on Saturdays. However, their website and phone recording clearly said they were open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM CST. When I asked to speak with a manager, the sales associate, [redacted] yelled at me and said, "HANG UP THE PHONE ALREADY!" and proceeded to hang up on me after I asked if I could leave a message for a manager to call me back. I sent an email to the company through their website indicating I wanted to cancel my order. Within the hour I received an email stating the order had been cancelled, but they would only refund me $1983.75 out of the original $2645.00 we paid due to a 25% "restocking fee." When my husband ordered the engine he understood there was a 25% restocking fee, but he took that to mean if we returned the engine after we received it or after it was shipped. The engine had not yet been shipped (per [redacted]) so I do not understand why the 25% restocking fee was applied.

I tried several times to call the business back on Saturday and the one time [redacted] did answer the phone again he immediately hung up on me. I posted something on the company's Facebook page asking if a manager could call me about the situation. The post was deleted and I was blocked from their site. I called the company again today and was told the 25% fee could not be refunded. I left a message for the manager, John, but have not yet received a call back. I feel filing this complaint is my only recourse as I am scared to deal further with this abusive company.Desired Settlement: I would like the full $2645.00 refunded since the order never shipped and we cancelled within 24 hours of placing the order (actually, it was about 18 total hours and about 7 total business hours). The 25% restocking fee was NOT adequately explained.

Response:

Per terms and conditions you agreed to there is a 25% for all cancelled orders. So what part of that you do not understand?

Review: I purchased a motor from this company online for 2600.00 which came with a 3 year parts and labor warranty. Well I recieved the motor and had it installed and it was smoking and burned about 3 quarts of oil a week. So I called the company back and the custumer service guy said ok make it available for exchange and we will send you another one. I asked the guy if they would pay for the motor to be taken out and they said "we dont cover any labor" so I took a minute to make the decision to pay a second time to have the motor removed at $850.00. Well I kept calling I send two emails with my invoice number on it asking someone to return my call and I cant reach them this is ridiculous this is my business truck and it has been sitting in my drive way for over 3 month while I try to resolve this issue. Please help I cant buy another motor they are two expensive. And I should get what they promised me another motor.Desired Settlement: I would like someone to call me to deliver my new motor in exchange for the old one.

Response:

We have reviewed this case and unfortunately he did not activate the Free Warranty per the Terms and Conditions agreed to when purchasing. On 3-18-15 the customer called in and spoke to our Warranty Claims Representative letting us know the engine was burning oil. The customer claimed he was going to replace the Valve Seals and get back to us which would of more than happily covered if the customer would of followed the requirements to activate the Free Warranty. We have no record of the customer contacting us again as he claims. Considering this is November and the deadline for activation is well past due, there we cannot honor any warranty claims. We encourage all customers to follow the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty to make sure these type of situations do not occur.

This business is very unprofessional and misleading to customers. They sold me the wrong engine for my vehicle and then replaced it with a damaged engine. To make matters worse; when I asked for a refund, I was charged a restocking fee of over $900.

Review: I ordered an engine for a 1994 Chevy C1500 4.3 Lts TBI (throttle body injection) that this company said they have with only 69K in it for $1080 plus $75 for delivery to a residence. That was back in March 9, 2015. They delivery the wrong engine on April 3, 2015,it took then until April 10, 2015 to pick up the return engine. They promised me the right engine again, instead of the refund money, which I accepted, to this day I do not have the engine nor the money that I paid ($1155). When I call then they do not give me an answer, do not spend time with me on the phone, refer me to someone else who is never there, they say they will call me back and never do. Today, May 7, 2015, they told me they do not have my order or can not find it. Invoice [redacted]. I was told that invoice was delivered in Florida. The reason I returned the engine is besides it was the wrong one, it was missing parts, and have way over 200K instead of the 69K they told me about. I work as a mechanic and this engine is for a costumer vehicle that as of now, he is looking for another engine and I am no longer his mechanic.Desired Settlement: I need the refund in full to satisfy my costumer and at the same time, I belief this company needs to be investigated for false advertisement, improper appropriation of funds, misleading and fail to respond to customer questions and issues.

Response:

Mr [redacted] had ordered a 4.3 engine for a 1994 Chevy pick up truck and it was sent in a timely manner. Chevy had 2 different style engines that year and we unfortunately sent the wrong style engine. So we had picked up the wrong engine and sent him the correct engine. We did not know if Mr. [redacted] was looking for extra parts, for we only sell the engine itself.

Consumer

Response:

I finally received the correct engine and I am satisfy with it. However, the engine I was sold by the company was a 4.3 lts TBI with 69 thousand miles in it. What I received was an engine with 200K plus, missing parts and the wrong one. The company refused to listen to me, messages were not answer, and the run around was on for almost two months. I requested the refund money and was told it would take five months to receive the refund. It was after, I contacted you people at Revdex.com, the day after to be specific that they called me telling me I could not get refund money and that they were going to send me an engine, would I wanted or not. They even tried to sell me the same engine for $2300 dollars. I was not looking for extra parts, just the parts I bought. Which was a 1994 Chevy 4.3 LTS TBI engine, complete, tested, with 69K in it, everything included, minus the power steering pump, AC compressor, pulleys, Alternator, and belts. Everything else was included. I have all the emails back and forwards with this company. HOW EVER, AT THIS MOMENT, I INSTALLED THE ENGINE AND WORKS FINE. I do want the company to be investigated for false advertisement, if possible.

Review: On February 17, 2014 we ordered a transmission for a 99 Expedition. We accidentally ordered a 97. The company required a VIN we put a V instead of a U, the number came up invalid. If they would have contacted us regarding the VIN all could have been taken care of prior to shipping. We the transmission was received 3/4/2014, at that time we realized it was the wrong transmission. We immediately called Southwest Engine and they stated we would have to pay $350 for the engine to go back and a new one sent out. When I tried to work something more reasonable out the gentleman hug up on me. A little while later someone else in by business called them and she left a message (no return call), she called again and they hung up on her. She called again 3/5/2014 and asked for a manager was put on hold twice then they said they would connect her with a manager and they hung up again. We have been told if we want our money back we would have to pay for the original "free" shipping, return shipping, and a restocking fee of 25% totally roughly $500, we paid $595 originally. If we want them to send another transmission we have to pay $350 shipping. We would like this resolved.Desired Settlement: We would like to proper part and the "free" shipping to be honored. We are willing to pay half the shipping charges but not $350.

Review: I bought a 1999 dodge ram 1500 318 engine for $970.00 that was guaranteed less then 60,000 miles on it. the engine got shipped to me in three weeks like they said. well I got the engine put in the truck and went to start it and the engine held no compression at all. the cylinders are bad in the engine along with the pistons and rings. the mechanic I had installing the engine said that it was no good what so ever, and that its gunna be hard to fix. so I tried calling the company I got it from and nobody answered so I left a voicemail and then followed up with an email. well that was almost three weeks from today(07/17/2013) since then ive called and left voicemails roughly 10-12 times and sent about 8 emails and yet have I herd back from them. I didn't know what else to do so I contacted you.Desired Settlement: I just want my money back and for this to not happen to anyone else.

Review: I ordered a used engine from Engine and Transmission World ("Company") for replacement of my original Toyota RAV 4 engine on August 22nd. The terms of the offer was three years or 36ooo miles PARTS and LABOR. The company sent a DEFECTIVE Engine that incurred 19.8 hours of labor at the VALLCO 76 Service [redacted].When reported to the company, the replacement engine was shipped. Additional 19.8 hours of labor costing $2158.20 (Two Thousand One Hundred Fifty-eight dollars and 20 cents) was spent to replace the engine. The labor that is part of the warranty is being denied by the company. This is in violation of the terms of sales agreement as the product sold by the company had to be backed by Parts and LABOR Warranty. My repeated request to the company's customer service is being lied by [redacted]. When the replacement engine was being shipped, [redacted] said that the labor will be re-imbursed 500 miles after installation.I have done all the needful but the company is lying and refusing to process the claim.Desired Settlement: The agreed terms and condition pays for LABOR as agreed at the time of placement of order. Please direct the company to re-imburse $2158.20 as part of the warranty. The warranty Claim ID is:71 against Invoice [redacted]

Business

Response:

We believe this customer is mistaken on the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty. The T&Cs of the warranty explicitly state: "Parts and labor warranty begins on the 14th day & 501st mile after the part is installed." We replaced the defective engine as a good faith measure as can be seen the Free Warranty T&Cs stated above. Furthermore, initial and any subsequent installation(s) charges are not covered by the Free Warranty. This is an implied risk of ordering a used engine as is the policy with even global suppliers of Used Engines or Components. Our representative did not misrepresent and simply let the customer know that any issue after the above Terms and conditions are met, will be covered by the warranty as long as the customer has successfully followed all the required criteria to receive a valid warranty claim. Therefore, this customer does not have a valid warranty claim and has not been mislead in anyway as the Terms and Conditions of the Free warranty must be agreed to before the purchase and is clearly and explicitly detailed on our website and during the ordering process the customer has several opportunities to review before making a purchase. The Terms and Conditions of the warranty our listed clearly on the website and may be reviewed by visiting: http://www.engineandtransmissionworld.com/warranty.php.

Review: Ordered Transmission 04-20-15. Transmission shipped out 04-27-15. Received 04-30-15. Wrong transmission. Ordered for 09 Altima, received an OLD FORD trans ??? Reordered 04-30-15. SW Trans reported trans went out 05-07-15. The trucking Company discovered the trans on 05-19-15 at the origin terminal, claims they did not have any paperwork on it. Arrived for delivery 05-21-19. Trucking Co refused to delivery that day, arrived at 4:30 am, they claim that it got in too late. I drove 1.5 hrs round trip to pick up from carrier. I was in touch with different personnel from SW Trans, during this process. I finally spoke to a MGR John to express the delay issues. John replied, " being condescending gets you no where with me ", and slammed down the phone. I was not rude, and did not curse while speaking to John, I was asking him if there are any options to reclaim some of my costs, to assist paying for a rental car for the 2-3 extra weeks. I called back and asked for John's superior. I left 3 messages for Scott ? to call me. Never heard from either.Desired Settlement: The entire process to receive the trans took approx. 4 weeks, due to negligence in SW Trans supply chain, and customer service practices. A partial refund of $200.00 would assist in paying some of the rental car fees.

Response:

Mr. [redacted] had ordered a Nissan trans back on 4/20/2015 and somehow he had received a Ford transmission, we do not how the mix up happened whether it was the trucking company or our shipping crew. Mr. [redacted] was sent the correct transmission and everything has been straightend out. Unfortunately we do not cover rental cars, it states that right on the warranty and on the terms and conditions form that he had agreed to.

Review: Got Engines sold me a used engine. The subject engine was to be tested and cleaned by the seller prior to shipment. The engine arrived with an internal defect that grew worse in a very short period of time. I activated the warranty, and attempted to meet the requirements of their 3 year, parts and labor warranty that was attached to their website, but to none of their sales documentation. The engine arrived defective and I am out >$3,200 because the seller is hiding behind fine print in their online warranty description. The seller is not acting in good faith to resolve this, and will not take or return phone calls or emails from me. The few times I have actually spoken to someone, they have been rude, I've been transferred to other peoples extensions that ring to voice mail and I have YET to receive a return call.Desired Settlement: At this point, I do not trust the credibility of the company or the quality of the product. I would like a refund of the original product purchase ($1,435) and $1,800 for out of pocket, installation charges by my mechanic.

Business

Response:

We have reviewed the complaint of the customer and found the claims invalid. The reason the warranty claim was denied is the customer did not follow the instructions which are clearly and prominently displayed on his online invoice (sales documentation) as well as a bright large yellow engine installation requirement tag which is attached to the engine on delivery. The customer did not replace the timing belt as shown which in fact voids the Free Warranty. Had the customer followed the instructions, the warranty claim would of been reviewed and decided upon that time. Unfortunately, when you do not follow the instructions the Free Warranty is no longer valid. These are used engines and require certain procedures to be done to activate the Free Warranty.

Review: on Feb 10, 2015, my husband ordered a transmission from engineandtransmissionworld.com, online, for a Hummer. We paid 1450.00 and received the transmission. My husband spent the next several weeks installing the transmission on the weekends, only to drive his hummer and have the 3rd and 4th gears slipping. We took it to the dealer and they confirmed, the transmission we had received and installed was bad. So we paid 4000.00 to the dealer to have a new transmission put in.

Husband calls engineandtransmissionworld.com to have a refund issued. They (not sure who he spoke with) said they would issue a refund, and were very vague about it. A few weeks later, a replacement transmission shows up. At this point we do not need the replacement transmission.

I call to ask about a refund, a person (didn't get name) told me that I could send the replacement transmission back, but would have to pay 175.00 shipping (both ways), and a 25% restocking fee. I agree to this since I feel my hands are tied. The person I speak with (at [redacted] and they arrange for shipping. Finally on 6/24 the transmission is picked up (they told us NOT to ship the bad transmission back, just the replacement), it arrives on 7/01.

I call to follow up on 7/13 and find out where our refund is. I spoke to [redacted], who apologizes, says that this was never bought to his managers attention, that I should receive an email in 2 or 3 days, then another 2 or 3 days and the refund will be put back on the cc.

I call again on 7/20 and speak to someone, who transfers me to the manager, [redacted]. Wow, I tell [redacted] that I had spoken to [redacted] on 7/13 and he says "maam, first of all [redacted] is not a manager and we do not issue refunds". He essentially hangs up on me. I call back and ask for the physical address of the business and the person who answers says its on their website and HANGS UP ON ME.

I am disputing this with the credit card company.

Don't even do this, just take the car to a local person and have it fixed, the employees at that place are incredibly rude and I think they intentionally lie to get business. This has truly been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had.Desired Settlement: I am currently disputing this with the credit card company, I would like the refund agreed to, which would mean 738.00 put back on our credit card, or a check sent to our home address.

Response:

We had sent Me [redacted] a used 6.2 diesel engine for a 25 year old 1991 Chevy truck, he had said that he had refused it because the fuel lines were rusty. However we do not sell the engines for fuel lines, fuel lines are just on the engine for convenience purposes and are bolt on items, there was nothing wrong with the engine, just because the fuel lines are a little rusty does not mean that the engine is no good. Therefore Mr. [redacted] will owe us for 2 freights and a 25% handling and restocking fee once we get the engine back here. He also said that he disputed his credit card, This is a just a typical common scam some people do nowadays because times are tough and it is easy free money for them, they order a part, then they refuse it for no reason, then they demand a refund, we refund them right away, then they dispute their charge card and get paid twice for ordering a part from us. It is just an easy way for people to take advantage of business' like us in the automotive industry.

Review: I purchased an engine thru this company on the 4th of February from this company. On that date they had no problem with receiving my money prompt responses and everything. My motor was delivered on the 13th of February at the end of the day. this company tries to push that you have ten business days to install it or your warranty is voided wich is fine if they wouldn't give you the run around and avoid you for those ten days. Wednesday the 18th my mechanic at the shop notified me that the engine that they had sent was full of engine sludge and that if they installed it, it would probably be a waste of time cause the engine would just lock up. I then notified engine and transmission world of what I was informed of. (After several attempts to get someone on the phone) I finally got a gentleman by the name of [redacted]. After explaining to him of what my mechanic informed me of, he states that it's no problem its a good motor. So I tri to further explain to him of what it meant if I were to get it installed like that. I then got him on a conference call with my mechanic. My mechanic explained it to him again. He told my mechanic no problem just do what he has to do to flush it out and clean it and fax them the bill for the cleaning and they would credit me that back. My mechanic then produced an itemized bill of what it was going to take to clean and flush the engine out. Here is where my issue comes in. I got Mr. [redacted] back on the phone and asked him when would I get my credit for the cleaning of the bill. He stated 3 to 5 business days. I then asked would he email me that and he replied yes he just has to speak to his supervisor mr. [redacted]. The extra cleaning and flushing of the engine would take a few days because they have to let some stuff sit on the engine sludge to break down all the hard build up. [redacted] was informed of that by my mechanic. I called the next day which was the 20th informing mr [redacted] that I was yet to receive my email stating about the crediting of the cleaning. He then stated that he would transfer me to his supervisor, it was a voice mail for mr. [redacted] (whom finally answered the phone today but as soon as I spoke he transferred me to [redacted]'s voice mail). Since being transferred to mr. [redacted]'s voice mail the first time on the 20th I have not been able to get anyone on the phone. No one responds to my voice mails or emails. When the phone does pick up they hang up immediately. This seems like my only way to reach someone now. It seems that I am getting the run around. I am a honest hard working firefighter with a family. I don't just have money to throw away. Please help.Desired Settlement: I would first like to receive a phone call and resolve the issue as business to customer is supposed to do. I would like my credit that I was promised by mr. [redacted] and I would like an extension on the ten business days since it took several days to fix the problem that they sent me.

Mr. [redacted] had ordered an engine for a 2001 Mercedes E430 on Febrruary 4, 2015 and it was sent to him in a timely manner. He had then called us on February 18, 2015 to report that the engine was sludged up. His shop had quoted him $344.00 to pour a can of engine degreaser which costs $19.95. We only pay out $50.00 an hour and degreasing an engine is only about 1 hours worth of work, we offered to pay Mr. [redacted] $120.00 for degreasing the engine, when we told Mr. [redacted] that, he got mad and started yelling at our staff. Response:

Mr. [redacted] had purchased a transmission from us on December 9, 2014 for a 2005 Chrysler 300c and it was sent to him in a timely manner. He had called on December 31,2014 to report that the transmission had stopped pulling and had admitted that his mechanic forgot to install a transmission filter and of course we send them with out filters because we recommend that you install a new filter at the time you install the transmission, just like it says on the tag which was attached to the transmission. Even though more than likely that was Mr. [redacted] fault that the transmission had burned up so quick and prematurely we still provided good customer service and are sending him a new replacement transmission anyway. As for the labor part, Mr. [redacted] did not activate the extended warranty yet, so when he gets the new transmission, and follows all the pre-installation procedures he would need to activate his extended warranty then.

Review: We purchased an engine from this business and it failed in less than a month. We also purchased a 3yr/30,000 mile warranty that covered labor. After providing all of the information they requested proving the engine was defective and failed, they refused to honor the warranty stating it was never activated. This claim of theirs allowed them to deny reimbursing us for the labor on the installation and removal of the faulty engine they sold us. Even before the engine failed, I made numerous attempts asking them to send us our warranty. Finally I printed their generic warranty posted on their website and nowhere did it state it had to be "activated". The only contact listed on the "warranty" was [redacted], his phone number and email address. He is the individual who informs everyone that their warranty is invalid. Throughout the many times I requested the warranty, he never ONCE stated it needed to be activated. The warranties they sell are simply another means of taking money from customers. This is a practice they have done over and over. This is fraud. It didn't matter how much evidence I gave them proving the engine was defective, they were never going to stand behind the warranty we purchased.

The customer received the Transmisssions on 12-21-15. We received a call from the customer on 1-12-16 claiming the 3rd gear was slipping. The customer did not activate the Free Warranty per the Terms and Conditions which all customers must agree to when purchasing, http://www.gottransmissions.com/warranty.html, within the 10 days allotted after delivery. Therefore, the claim was denied as the customer did not met the Terms and Conditions. Review: The engine I received has rusted electrical components, gears and pulleys. My mechanic said the engine has been submerged in saltwater. There is oil combined with radiator fluid coming out were the oil filter goes. Most of the bolts are completely rusted. My mechanic said that there is a good chance that the bolts will break upon removal. I made several attempts to call. Dates are 5-20-15,5-21-15 left messages, 5-22-15 sent an email, 5-23-15, sent email with photos of the engine, 5-26-15 called and left message with Dale in warranty department, and still nobody returned my calls or emails. I called today and spoke with [redacted] and he forwarded me to the manager. I got his voicemail and left a message. I have taken pictures for proof. I also asked for the test results of the compression test and they didn't want to send it to me or the proof of actual mileage of the engine . The number I have been calling is 1-866-319-1643. Review: I bought a engine from these people back in September. They sent my dealership in tacoma Washington a faulty engine so the dealer had to send it back for a new engine which came and is fine. Now I submitted my invoice for the labor 2 different times the first engine parts n labor came up to 1,271 not including tax and was submitted 10-9-15 The second invoice for the 2nd engine came up to 1,140 not including tax invoice sent to them 12-14-15. I calked the business the next day to speak to [redacted] to make sure they had my correct address fir them to mail my refund check. He took the information and said I will get a email from the refund dept before they mail it. and put a disclaimer on it saying you will not get fully refunded because they only pay so much per hour. Which by they way was never mentioned. I had contacted the consumer protection office in your state and spoke to howard phillips letting him know what was taking place because weeks went by and I heard nothing. He contacted the business as well and the next day [redacted](in warranty) cinracts me asking me why I contacted the consumer protection because they had every intent on giving me a full refund. So a week passes and I contact [redacted] and he tells me to contact John in the refund dept which I did every day in since the second week of January and had to leave numerous voicemails with no response. I called back again and spoke to [redacted] whi says it 3-5 days for a return call. I said its been weeks at this point. Ge said he could not help me until john in thecrefund dept releases the check. Here it is 2-4-16 and I have still have not had one return phone call or email from this business and I saved my emails. I am hoping you can get this resolved for me because here it is 4 months later from the time I purchased my first engine and habe not heard a word on when thus is going to be taken care of. All I get is the run around and voicemail after voicemail. Invoice number [redacted] I have all documents and emails that were nit returned if needed. I could get you a copy if my phone bill that shows I have made numerous calls to these peopleDesired Settlement: I would like my refund for the first and second engine a total of 2,411 and thats not including tax. If thats nit feasible at least mail me what they owe me asap. I had to take a loan out through my bank to cover all the costs including the engine. I would appreciate a definate response from this company. Im tired of being jerked around now

Response:

The Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty which must be agreed to upon purchasing the engine clearly states: SWE will reimburse the repairer up to $50.00 per hour for the repair of a part or assembly. These charges shall not exceed (a) 100% of the part price as indicated on your original invoice, and (b) applicable numbers of hours derived from labor allowances from nationally recognized labor time allowance manuals. We apologize for the breakdown in communication. Per the Terms and Conditions of the Free Warranty, we will be sending out a check to the customer for $420.00. This reflects the 8.4 hours shown on invoice submitted for the claim with the maximum labor amount allotted.
