Review: I purchased a bad engine from SW engines.I spoke to the warranty and claims manager about it, he is now avoiding me at all cost.

On December the 29th of 2014 I purchase a engine from SW engines for my BMW x5 4.4L. Model# [redacted], order#[redacted], account# [redacted] Payed for by credit card for the amount of $3,295 with only 67,000 miles on it, I should have known better! I chose to proceed because it was backed by a 3Yr or 36K miles Parts and Labor Warranty. Appeared to be a safe investment.January 19th 2015 the engine was delivered to a foreign car specialty shop it arrived on a broken pallet, we were a little concerned about that at first. Not a good first impression of SW engines. The master Tech/ owner told me that he couldn't warranty the installation due to the fact that he prefers to only buy engines from his distributors, with that being said I had to find a new shop to do the job. By me being out of town a lot it took me 2 months to find someone to do the job that I felt comfortable with and it was installed on March 13 2015. The truck seem to be just the first week, the 2nd week it started making a ticking sound in the engine. I then took it back to the shop to be analyzed. I was told the engine was no good. Not what I wanted to hear after spending $9,000. I contacted SW engines to explain my situation they were very rude to me as if I was they're enemy because I had a problem with my engine. I been hung up on many times while I was just trying to get the warranty and claims manager on the phone. A week ago I finally got him on the phone. He wanted me to take my truck to BMW for diagnostics so I did and I Emailed him the invoice as I was asked to.... I was told by BMW that my engine was bad. Many emails I sent, many calls to Mr. [redacted] have been made but no response. I left many voice mails, no answer. I had been robbed!Desired Settlement: I would appreciate for SW engines to replace the engine with a working one this time, as well as cover the cost of labor to install it, that I believe would be fare. Why should I be responsible for the labor cost. I purchased the engine with a 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty. I only drove it 173 miles before it broke down. Low oil pressure was the issue. It was suppose to had been compression tested, cylinder leak down tested, and Checked for oil pressure and steamed clean. I believe it was steamed

Response:

Mr. [redacted] had purchased an engine from us back on December 27, 2014 it was sent to him in a timely manner. He also admitted that he did not install it until April 27, 2015 when he called in. One of our strict regulations on our terms and conditions form that he had agreed to was that our engine must be installed with in 30 days of receiving the engine. By doing that he had voided all warranties. Even though he had voided all warranties we may still make an exception for him, all he has to do is make the engine available for pick up and we will send a replacement engine as long as it is with in 180 days of purchase.

Review: I have been dealing with this Company now for a little over 2 1/2 months. The problem is now with the service that was Provided, by with the Refund of an Engine that I had purchased that was sent back to SWENGINES. I have contacted the Company several times and each time they told me that yes they have receive my Returned engine . In fact they have received the Engine on Feb 16, 2015. But as of April 21,2015 have still not received the Refund of at least $1,100. The original Price was $1,790 but a 25% restocking fee did apply of which I had no problems with. And after numorous attempts to clear this matter up, all I have seemed to do is get the Run Around in trying to secure my Refund. I have talked to two gentleman at the Company, the first one [redacted] told me that I would get my Refund by Mail, the second told me that I would have it Deposited back onto my Checking Account with info that I had already provided with the Purchase of the Engine. Neither of which has Transpired and it is now April 21, 2015 I did plan on using this Company in the future, but now not so sure. Your help in expediting this matter, would be greatly Appreciated. Sincerely [redacted]Desired Settlement: To get my desired refund and close the matter. And stop all the run around and Incompetence. Thank You

Mr. [redacted] had ordered an engine back on January 15, 2015 and we sent it to him in a timely manner. He had called us on March 30, 2015 to says that he wanted the engine picked up and refund, for he did not need the engine anymore for some reason he did not disclose. We had then picked up the engine and refunded him on April 10, 2015 when we got the engine back. His refund was minus the 25%re-stocking fee and minus 2 freights that it took to get the engine to him, and to bring it back here at $245.00 each way. He also agreed to those terms at the time of purchase.

Review: I ordered a transmission from its website called qualityusedtransmission.com and had a shop to install it after received it. The shop discovered the shipped transmission has Shift Solenoid problem after a engine check come on and determine a solenoid need to replace with additional labot cost but they can take it from the old transmission. I purchase a 1 year warranty from quality used transmission which mention that the replacement part will be sent for the defective and labor to repair will be covered. I called quality used transmission but they do not honor the waranty.Desired Settlement: I want quality used transmission to refund me for the labor cost to replace the solenoid.

Review: The advertisement on there website said that they test the engines thoroughly for engine knocking , oil pressure , compression , and cylinder leak test. when the mechanic put the engine in and started it for the first time it had a horrible engine knock and after further investigation the number 3 cylinder had 50% loss in compression and the piston was hitting the spark plug.

now I have a substantial mechanics bill and still do not have a running engine plus I have to pay to have the engine shipped back to southwest engines. They offered to give me a refund for the engine less the shipping cost but that doesn't cover the mechanics cost. The bottom line is I purchased an engine and a 3YR parts and labor warranty and the engine was no good unlike what they advertised , and they will not cover the labor or shipping.Desired Settlement: A full refund for the engine by reimbursing my credit card.

Cover all the shipping costs.

Cover the mechanics labor costs by paying Todd's Tire and Auto or me with a cashiers check or money order

Review: We ordered an engine for a Dodge Ram on December 15, 2015. To date, the engine has not been delivered and we continue to recieve emails that the shipping is delayed. No one will anwer the phone when I call, or if they do, I am transfered to a line that no one answers. I have left numerous emails canceling the invoice and requesting a refund of my money, over $2700. This company cannot tell me when or if my engine will be delivered and I refuse to wait any longer to receive it. I believe they are a ripoff.Desired Settlement: I think the business should refund my money immediately. They continue to send emails about delays in shipment and will not respond to emails or phone calls.

Response:

The customer called in and insisted on cancelling the order although it had only been 14 business days since the order was placed including holidays. If we include the holidays as they are not business days, we have 10-12 business days considering frieght companies only deliver half of those weeks due to the holidays. The engine was ready to ship when the customer called in. We refunded the customer on 1-6-15 minus the 25% restocking as agreed upon when purchasing.

Mr [redacted] had ordered an electrical assist motor for a 2007 Honda Civic back on April 14, 2015 and we had pulled it out of a vehicle for Mr. [redacted] with in reasonable time. We had called his mechanic to verify if he needed the electrical assist motor or if he needed the actual gasoline engine. because the electrical assist motors never go out and we have never sold one of those. We had gave him the price for the gasoline engine the was about a 460 dollar price difference. He refused to believe that, as we explained it to him over and over again. Mr. [redacted] could not comprehend what we were trying to tell him, he just kept going on and on very aggresivlely trying to talk over us and insisting that he was right, threatening us, and using profanities, and twisting everything around and saying that he was the victim.

Review: I ordered a motor from Engine and Transmission World invoice #[redacted] on Jan 20 2015 and received a confirmation email of that order which stated that I need to activate my warranty which was a 3 year 36000 mile. I received that confirmation email on Jan 26. On Jan 28 I called in to cancel my order and talked to [redacted] who transferred me to the Manager my call at that time was disconnected or should I say I was hung up on. I called 3 more times that night with no answer call times are as followed 1858,1908,1911,1920 I tried to call back several times that evening and was routed to the managers voice mail. On Jan 29 I called several times again to cancel my order call times as followed 0655,0802,0822,0946,1156,0146,047,0150,0151,0155,0157,0158,0159,0205,0209,0212,O... one of the calls I was able to talk with [redacted] - I asked [redacted] what my option where to cancel my order since the company had not shipped my order at this time. [redacted] was rude and hateful and proceeded to tell me since I confronted him about how rude and hatefulness that my order was cancelled and I would be charged a 25% stocking fee and hung up on me. I was upset at this time and called [redacted] in Parts. [redacted] stated my order wasn't cancelled and assured me of that. This is when I called the Revdex.com of WI to see if any complaint where against this company what I found was horrible and after talking with my husband we decided that the best thing for us to do is truly cancel the order and take our loses of 400 dollars. So when my husband got home we called again times as followed: 0436,0436,0442,0443,0445. Finally I was able to confirm that the order was currently in the warehouse being tested and should be shipping tomorrow I was transferred at that time to the manager who didn't answer again so I left a message and called right back to the company and talked to [redacted] who hung up on me so I called right back and talked to [redacted] about cancelling he transferred me to [redacted] and I was sent to someone else who again transferred me to [redacted] so I hung up and tried to calling back again. I was sent to [redacted] and asked to be transferred to [redacted], [redacted] said that [redacted] could cancel order however [redacted] answered the phone- [redacted] stated he was over tracking and shipping and confirmed that I would be charged only a stocking fee of 25% but nothing else and he would set paperwork on his desk to cancel the order and that they offered free shipping and since it wasn't shipped out yet and only 25% would be charge to me again his name was [redacted] Black and he was going to give [redacted] the invoice number and when [redacted] looking into the computer he would know. I asked [redacted] when I would receive a call and [redacted] said I wouldn't need a call back and in 3-5 business day the money would be back into my account the amount of 1308.75 total cost of the engine was 1745 at 25%. The conversation stated above was recorded on my phone and will be attached for validation. On Jan 30 @ 1000 I received another email saying my order has been pulled from stock and sending it to the quality team and a update would be sent in 2 business days (I have already cancelled by order on Jan 29). On Jan 30 at 0255 I received another email stating my order had been shipped with RL Carriers with a tracking number [redacted]. After receiving this email I called Engine and Transmission World again and talked to [redacted] Green who stated [redacted] can't cancel orders, I told [redacted] that I had voice confirmation that my order had been cancelled and [redacted] stated that he would call and have that engine routed back to his facility and get this over to the manager and have it cancel for me at no additional cost to me but 25% and the engine only went to our local terminal and they make daily trips and would bring the engine back at no charge the next day. [redacted] also stated once it was refunded it would take 3-5 business day to receive a refund. I called RL Carrier and they stated the tracking number is not in the system yet and I would have to call back Monday 2-2-15. On 2-2 at 0945 I received a call from RL carrier to confirm shipping I told them that the order had been cancelled and I would not accept the shipment. After confirming with RL I called Engine and Transmission World back and talk to [redacted] who said the order wasn't cancelled and I would be charged 25% plus shipping it back after talking to [redacted] and telling him I had cancelled the order with [redacted] he hung up on me. I called back and left a message for [redacted] and [redacted] with contact information. As stated on Jan 29 I left a message for [redacted] to contact me I still haven't received a call back.I have recorded what was stated above to validate my complaint.Desired Settlement: After Dealing with this for several days I would a minimum like my 1308.75 however I believe I should be a full refund of 1745 due to the how rude and hateful Engine and Transmission is after they have placed your order. It has been a nightmare with countless hours on the phone being transferred and hung up on several times. The company is nice and helpful to get your order but once they have collect money they become difficult and rude and not very helpful and don't care.

But then stated to J.B. at [redacted] auto Olathe Kansas that Southwest Engines would not cover parts and labor (est. $2200) costs needed for re-installation.

It is clearly documented on my Receipt that Parts and Labor are part of the purchase warrenty.

I have made repeated attempts to speak with [redacted] ? at SWE to no avail. I have contacted Dale and other at SWE leaving numerous voice mails to no avail. I instructed JB at [redacted] auto to contact [redacted] ?. with success.

[redacted] was instructed by JB to contact me as to details to my warranty so that this matter could be moved forward.

No response to mine or others attempts to resolve the warranty issues.

Review: Gave VIN number as asked and then received very rude emails

Series of emails after giving VIN:

THEM: we can not tell by the vin#

US: What info do you need. Thanks

THEM: we do not need any

US: Ok so the tranny quote I got is applicable. I am interested if this is the rite transmission. Trying to verify that this will work for my truck.

THEM: if you filled out the quote form correct then it will be the correct unit.

US: You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Check your reviews out. I did after your short unprofessional responses. Thanks but no thanks

THEM: short responces because it is hard to deal with mns like you.

US: When we asked for quotes on trannys, we were asked to supply the VIN. When we did email the VIN number, we were told "we can't tell by the VIN". When we asked what further info you needed, you said "we do not need any". We were tying to make sure we got the correct transmission but your customer service is frankly, terrible. I will be forwarding these to your supervisor and if YOU are the boss, then I truly feel sorry for your company and the people that work for you. This is a big expense and a little customer service and answering our questions would have went a long way. We will now go elsewhere with our purchase.

Then tried to phone to get owner's name and was put on hold forever.Desired Settlement: That they investigate their employees and either train them to deal with customers or fire them!

Review: I wanted an engine for my car. They gave me options of which engine will fit my car and that just have 69000 miles, so I made my selection, because they told me engine will be fine on my car. My Mechanic told me I will need to replace computer and other accessories because is not the same engine, something that I wasn't told when I ordered. Mechanic also told me that the engine has way more than 69000 miles because all the gunk and dirt inside engine. I paid $1090.00 for engine because shipping was free. I want to exchange engine for a good one. The guy told me that I have to pay $1090.00 to receive replacement. That I have to pay for shipping for the one they first sent me, and pay shipping for sending bad engine plus pay shipping of replacement engine. The guy tricked me and want to refund me like $300.00 after they receive the engine, but if I want to replace I will have to pay $1090.00 extra. I want them to pick up engine and refund money to credit card. This engine has way more than 69000 miles, said by a mechanic that inspect the engine. They paint engine to make it look better. But the inside of engine don't lie.Desired Settlement: They have the responsibility of telling the truth to their customers. They said, free shipping for the engine I ordered and now they said shipping was included in price, invoice shows $0.00 shipping costs. I want full refund of my money.

Response:

Unfortunately, the customer actually ordered the wrong engine in this case. After the customer received the engine, we found out he actually needed a 2.3 Liter instead of the 2.2 Liter he ordered. There is a substantial price difference and we suspect the customer ordered the 2.2 Liter in hopes it would work for his vehicle. Additionally, the mechanic cannot tell by visual inspection how many miles any engine has accumulated. Therefore, we cannot not possibly take back the motor and doe a direct exchange based on the mechanics opinion and due to the fact the customer ordered the wrong engine. We would of never sold an engine to a customer unless they told us this is the right engine for their car and in fact rfuse to sell engines which are not a match for the VIN# when the customer is able to provide. This customer does not have a warranty claim under the Terms and conditions of the Free Warranty. We recommend all customer make certain they are ordering the exact engine for their vehicle when placing the order. Our representatives can only go by the information provided by the customer when placing the order.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]I paid $1090.00 for an engine with 69000 miles on it. My mechanic show me different engines on how it should looks, and like you see in the pictures, this engine have more than 200000 miles on it. It's painted Grey so it looks clean. My engine is in the picture s MN d have aver 200000 miles. So from the $1090.00 + free shipping like receipt said, he just want to give me back $300.00. I asked the sales man, that is also the manager and owner if he know about mechanics, and he said NO. You can ask a mechanic about how many miles the engine have just by the way it looks like and move. If he got tricked by someone about this engine, he's not supposed to do it to me. He have a bad rating with lots of customers. This business should be investigated.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Response:

Unfortunately, without proof besides the visual opinion of a mechanic we cannot support any claims on mileage. We simply pull the miles stated on the order from the odometer of the vehicle the engine is removed from. If the customer can provide factual evidence the engine has more miles than what was told to us when procuring the engine, we would be more than happy to do a direct exchange for the customer. However, a visual inspection and opinion cannot suffice and therefore no warranty claim can be processed based on an opinion of a mechanic.

Review: Was searching for a replacement engine for my 1997 Jaguar XJ6 and received a quote from SW engines for an engine with 68000 miles, with a 3 year warranty for $1040.00. The engine arrived 2 weeks later and I immediately realized that the engine appeared to be more in line of an engine at close to or more than 200,000 miles. I immediately contacted SW engines and complained of the issue with the extremely worn engine. They said said the manager would contact me shortly to resolve the issue. A week went by with no one contacting me so I sent them a letter asking for the VIN of the donor vehicle so I may get a CarFax report to verify their claim of 68000 miles on the engine. They flatly refused and stated I can ship the engine back at my cost plus a 25% re-stocking fee and they will ship me another engine.I told them that I passed up several engines on the internet that did not give any mileage claims and they were priced from $299.00 to $350.00. I specifically chose them because they claimed the 68000 miles and a 3 year warranty. With a claim like that I figured I would not have to spend extra time and money rebuilding an engine with unknown miles. Instead I got an engine clearly was showing wear of an engine with at least 175,000 miles and I cannot just put that engine in my car as is. I was willing to pay $350.00 for the engine they shipped but not $1040.00. The flatly refused to further communication with me. I tried to have the charges reversed on my credit card but the credit card company claimed I did not provide sufficient proof that SW Engines was fraudulent. I cannot believe I was so blatantly robbed and thought my credit card company would protect me from fraudulent businesses such as those.Desired Settlement: Since I already have the engine but it was not what I ordered I demand a partial refund from SW Engines of at least $550.00. I do believe the fair value of the engine shipped is no more than $300.00 plus $200.00 for shipping.

Business

Response:

The customer never provided suffice int proof to his claim. Our records indicate the engine had approximately 68,000 miles as advertised and sold under. We do not pull records for the car and simply go by what is stated on the odometer when the engine is pulled from the car. Any of our sales people will explain this one calling in and inquiring as we do not try to hide this fact. Often we do not have records for the car due to the actual car being scrapped after all the parts are pulled from the car so it can be very difficult and at times impossible to locate these records. If the customer had found an actual defect or was able to prove the claim, we would of gladly sent out a replacement at no charge even though it is not covered under the Free Warranty. Therefore, we cannot refund when the customer has no proof of their claim. The customer was denied the charge back from his Credit Card for the same reason as you must provide proof when making such claims.

After I decided to return the motor for a refund they told me I had to pay for shipping and a 25% re stalking fee witch is over 976.25 so now my car has been at the garage for a month and still I have no motor.. If they send you a non working motor they should be held accountable not the consumerDesired Settlement: I would like full refund for 1945.00

Business

Response:

The complainant was advised we pressure clean all of our engines. On occasion water does get inside the piston chamber and this does not ruin the motor as long as it is drained and flushed as should be done with all used engines upon receipt and before installation. This does not constitute a defective product regardless of what the mechanics opinion. We have been in this business over 27 years and have had this practice for quite some time. Therefore, the engine sent was not defective and a 25% restocking fee plus shipping is charged if the customer wants to return per the Terms and Condition of the sale agreed upon when making the purchase.

Upon installation I discovered the engine was defective with two dead cylinders. I used a compression gauge to determine two of the cylinders had very low compression. I called Engine and Transmission World on 6/25/13 and talked to [redacted] in the warranty department about my issue. Dale said he would have a shipping company pick the engine for return to the company, and I would receive a refund once the engine was received. He told me to let him know once the engine was ready to be picked up. I called [redacted] on 7/1/13 and let him know the engine was available for pickup. He said it should be picked up within a couple of days. The engine was not picked up that week, so I gave Dale another call on 7/8. Dale told me he would send another pickup request and the engine should be picked up within a couple of days. The engine has still not been picked up.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the full amount paid $1,090.00.

dont need the old engine back

I purchased a $2850 used engine (51k miles) with a 3 year/36k mile warranty. After less than 5000 miles, additional service/repairs to this engine have already exceeded an additional $5000.
The "Warranty Department" and Alex [redacted] at Engine Shopper has given me the run`around in addition to numerous unprofessional email communications and will not honor any part of the warranty.
I truly wish I would have done additional research prior to purchasing from this online trap.

Review: I bought a used engine from gotengines.com. It took several months but finally was shipped to the Ford Dealer who installed the engine. Two weeks after getting the car back, the transmission went out. My car was in the transmission repair shop for 4 months while waiting to be repaired. About 3 weeks after getting the car back, on April 5, 2015, the engine blew up.

Gotengines.com received the email photos showing the engine from my mechanic, and is refusing to honor the 3 year engine warranty. They are claiming that the engine over-heated, even though there is no evidence to that affect. My mechanic states that the engine did not ever overheat.Desired Settlement: 1) refund the money I am out for the engine and installation costs. - or -

2) send another engine in better condition and pay to have my mechanic install it.

Response:

The engine was overheated because the mechanic had sent us a picture of the heat tab that was glued on to the engine and the center of the heat tab was clearly melted out. Normal engine operating temperature should be between 195 and 220 degrees. When an engine reaches a temperature of 230 and 240 degrees it will start to experience overheating conditions. When a gasoline engine reaches 250 degrees or higher it is considered overheated and will cause internal damage to the engine. Our heat tabs will melt at 250 degrees. So bottom line Ms. [redacted] must have overheated the engine when she admitted that the transmission went out she must have overworked the engine pushing it to the limits causing the engine to overheat.

Review: I purchased a transmission for a 94 BMW 325i, when it arrived it was faulty (slipped in every gear). After contacting company was sent another transmission; this one also slips in few gears. Now EATW will not return phone calls or emails. They advertise that all parts are shipped in working condition so I would like a transmission that Doesnt slip.Desired Settlement: I would like EATW to pay the mechanic bill for the removal of two faulty transmissions and also a full refund of initial purchase price.
