It felt and looked a lot like bait and switch to meI get the feeling a lot of people take you Quicken banker's word for things without actually reading the documents they presentMy mortgage was sold to Quicken from another lender and after a few months, I got a call from Quicken asking if I wanted to refinance to remove my PMII have heard about these loans but have not researched themThe banker said, "no cost for closing and nothing added to the loan balance"When they presented the documents, there was a $cost to borrower listed on the estimateWhen questioned, the banker said that the system automatically does the numbers but didn't know that insurance/taxes were paidI hadn't given any money but did ask multiple times, "this isn't going to cost anything, right?" and "I can back out when I want, right"A care specialist emailed me to ask for more "to-do" documents and said that my escrow account would be liquidated, used to pay down the balance and that a new escrow account would be createdConsidering that the escrow pays my insurance and taxes and that it is funded over the year, I asked how that affected my escrow contributionsShe could not answerI also asked why the loan amount was higher than my current balanceShe could not answerWhen the banker called to answer these questions, he said that all is well, blah blah blah and asked if I had been burned by another mortgage company.........NoI am just not an it and you solicited me, not other way aroundThe numbers didn't line up as is and all of this was only to remove the PMI, a small savingsA new disclosure came out after our call that now had a loan amount higher than my current balance, money being used from my loan to pay closing costs and if what they said about using my escrow to pay the current loan balance..........would have added up to $again, just reflected as $out of pocketAt that point, I told them to cancel the processThey are super shady, period
We would never recommend Quicken Loans to anyone...they do not stand behind their customers They all must have gone to the same academy of "Quicken Loans" because they all have the same old story We were accepted by them to get our loan but after getting a total runaround we pulled out of the deal and are going with our local credit union Stay with your local loan companies and/or banks Our appraiser came from out of town and didn't have a clue about our market here BEWARE!
Quicken worked and worked on my refinance until it went throughThe process was easily done, primarily via their secure website, with the closing agent coming to you where you want to meetThe only negative I have is that I was not advised I would be paying points to buy down the interest rate until the closingHowever, the rate was terrific, so this wasn't a deal breaker for me

I have been a happy customer of Quicken Loans for many years In fact I recommended them many times However my views on QL have changed with my most recent events I decided to refinance to a lower rate and take some equity money out to do home improvementsI decided to do a competitive review and not just work with QL to see what is out there I received a great rate and terms from my credit union which I have had great experience with QL couldn't match so the basically said they couldn't assist me with an refinance loan I moved forward with the credit union, closed the deal and paid off the QL mortgage amount When I called to get the pay off amount the women on the phone as great and understood my decision was just business After the pay off was sent to QL, the QL people came at me and my husband like vultures! They have called me and my husband everyday for the past days even though I told them to quit calling me and my husband THey had their chance at keeping my loan but couldn't beat the credit unions rates and now it is a done deal One person tried to get into the terms I had with the credit union, I basically told him it was not any of his business which then he told me I didn't need to be rude about it Today's call I basically asked them (again) to quit harassing me with all of these unwanted phone callsIt seems that QL promotes customer harassment which I am happy to be moved away from QL as my mortgage company and will never go back to them because of this harassment Complete change from six months ago when I would have told others about my great experience being a long time customer Ego or what? QL doesn't like to lose!
Quicken loans was awesome! Very smooth transition of our refinance They always kept us up to date, always returned our calls or emails in a timely manner And the loan was fast and we wrapped it up under days, which is great because we are self employed
I just closed a refi with them despite my better judgement It was a total bait and switch scam and all they wanted to do was suck more money out of me with fees and lies Some of the many, many people I had to deal with were rude and bullying They even told me that they weren't making as much money from me than they usually do - like I should feel bad that Quicken isn't making enough money?? I think they are making plenty of money with all the last minute fees they added and changes they made to our original agreement I would NEVER do business with Quicken again
