FanBox Reviews (354)

FanBox is a social network, something like Facebook where you can share your thoughts, your feelings, your passions with other people through your blogs, photos, your feed status or videos. Additionally you can earn by selling, promoting, sponsoring, teaching, boosting and advertising! You can make new friends all over the world, you can find out things you never heard.

FanBox is a community which provides opportunity to work and help each other to earn to improve lives. You have to just work on simple and easy tasks daily and you can earn as much you work.

Review: Review: I have been receiving multiple emails from FanBox stating I earned so much money, (now $2776.37 and growing). I thought maybe this FanBox company would be a legitimate site where they would invest my money and as they claim protect it. Then they required me to register and validate my earnings, (which was never obtained)by asking me to register through my my credit card. They also claimed that no money would be taken out. Soon after FanBox immediately withdrew $1,347.46 out of my checking account without my permission. This caused my account to become overdrawn and another fee of $102 was added on. When I saw the unauthorized withdrawal, I contacted my bank and filed a claim to stop the transaction. This was is November, 2015. FanBox misrepresented themselves as a company and the services they claim to provide. I would have never given permission for them to withdraw over $1,300 from my checking account under the circumstances I have just been through. I had been a widow of 7 months due to my husband committing suicide and left with enormous debt. I thought this company was protecting my assets. In January, 2016, when I was contacted by my bank that FanBox would not credit my account, my bank and myself tried to contact them via phone and email ... with no luck. We could never talk to a real person. FanBox took my money and now on January 28, 2016, $1449.46 will be withdrawn from my account leaving me in a horrible financial position. I have even asked them in a voice mail to cancel this account and there was no response to this in their email.Desired Settlement: To: 1. Get FanBox to credit the $1347.36 they took from my bank account without authorization. 2. FanBox to deposit the money they said I earned, $2776.37 checking account and closing my account with them. 3. FanBox to delete me and my credit card from their sight.

Response:

Hello [redacted],

Review: I have NOT enrolled in Fan Box's product; however, just recently I have been provided multiple notices of bill's that is owed by an account that has a portion of my name and a number - which I did NOT set up.

However, they have absolutely no way of contacting them - every email is a "do not reply" and any contact mechanism they request includes you going through their website - which requires you to agree to their "conditions" - which I'm afraid include paying their bill.

I truly don't know how to contact them other than to write a letter - but, I'm concerned because I just saw an email stating that I own them over $800 and just received another email this week for another $39 dollars.Desired Settlement: Truthfully - I don't JUST want the billing to be cleared - (for something I never signed up for - or used) - but, I also want this account closed and cancelled so that I don't have to deal with this problem in the future.

One final point, I don't want to say that this is a scam - however, the emails all start off with the fact that I have earned over $4,000 via this IPL program and don't I want to protect that account.

According

to our records, an account was created on FanBox back in 2011. Your account was

account has been deleted. We have immediately unsubscribed your e-mail

from all of our mailing lists. You will no longer receive e-mails from

FanBox or any of our users, but please allow up to 72 hours for this to go

Review: I received an email saying I was invited by my friend [redacted] (who is legally blind, hearing impaired and paraplegic; living on disability income). [redacted] is my best friend, so I opened the email. Apparently, just opening it made me a member of FanBox, but I was unaware at first. I did not sign up for it, I just looked at it. Then I started getting emails saying that my PayPal account would soon be charged a fee. When I asked [redacted] about it, she told me she had been invited by one of her other friends ([redacted]) and said she gave them my email address to invite me. Somehow FanBox got my PayPal account information from [redacted] (in the past we have used her computer to purchase things using my PayPal account and she paid me back) and created an account with FanBox without my knowledge or consent. [redacted] didn't now at the time that FanBox was a scam. Now she is caught in the same mess with FanBox that I am. FanBox also instantly created an IPL account (credit limit) without my knowledge or understanding of it. When I looked into what it was and how to cancel it, I found that it was designed so you can't get out without paying a lot of money for nothing. The agreement (that I didn't agree to) was a confusing mess of words and the videos to "teach you" were worthless. Most of them didn't open and those that did were not about the subject described. It was deliberately created to be so. That way, months may go by before you realize it is a scam. In my attempt to figure out how the system works and how to get out of it, I got no help from the help and support line. They changed my "success coach" more than 8 times in a week and over 20 times total. The "success coaches" didn't teach me anything. They just wanted to get me more in debt with FanBox. When they understood that I was trying to get out of FanBox, they dumped me on someone else. My emails to FanBox and phone messages were ignored.

In the beginning, I asked that they cancel this account and they told me I would have to pay them $450 to do so; pay off IPL. I didn't agree to do business with them in the first place, so I was not about to pay for something that I didn't agree to and that produced nothing of substance in exchange for the money they claimed I owed. I figured out that if I turned IPL off, I would incur no more debt and that I could wait until the earnings fully matured in 90 days and pay down IPL with the money it supposedly earned. I did turn off IPL and got the utilized IPL down from $450 to $133.00, which reduced the monthly finance charge from around $6. to $4., but then someone at Fanbox changed turned IPL back on without my consent or knowledge, and in one day the IPL shot back up to $450, with the resulting increase in finance charges to my PayPal account, which I never authorized in the first place. They also instantly increased my credit limit to over $1000., which I never requested or approved. Finally, I contacted someone and they turned off the IPL (again). Because of that, they have not moved my funds for the last two months. I have waited an extra 60 days for what I have "earned", so I could pay down the IPL, but they know that and are doing things to prevent me from acting on my plan to get out of FanBox without paying off the IPL with real money; my money. Instead they have a "success coach" contacting me constantly trying to get me to become a "Power Seller". I believe that this fraud! There is no way I will ever get rid of this mess, because they are doing things to this account, without my knowledge or consent, to keep me trapped. I didn't agree to any of this in the first place. I simply went to take a look at something my friend invited me to and ended up being robbed of money, time and sleep. Please help.Desired Settlement: I want a refund for the money they took from my PayPal account since February 2013 and to move the matured funds to pay off IPL completely. There is more than enough in the account to do so; $495.57 to pay the $450 IPL utilized. I want this account to be deleted. I want them to immediately unsubscribe my e-mail from all of their mailing lists. I wish to no longer receive e-mails from FanBox or any of their users. I want the IPL account to be terminated and account/membership closed; therefore, I will not be billed any more processing fees. Disconnect/terminate FanBox access to my PayPal account.

When you receive an invitation email from a user on

FanBox, an account is created for you if you click on the link to view the content

on FanBox. Your account was created on 2/22/2013. Based on the activity on your

account, you were fairly active by adding a profile photo, creating blog posts,

categorizing & rating posts, creating ads, and funding ads for others.

On 3/5/2013, a PayPal account was added to your FanBox

account by following the steps to protect your account. Protecting your account

also enrolls you in the Automatic Account Protection plan that authorizes

charges to be applied to your PayPal account if your balance were to fall below

$2.00. You had been billed with IPL processing fees since 4/9/2013 because you

utilized a portion of your IPL limit/credit to fund ads and generate earnings.

Because your account settings were set to charge your PayPal account, your

PayPal account had been charged with these processing fees. Only someone with

access to your FanBox account and your PayPal account can successfully attach a

payment source to their FanBox account and validate it. The PayPal account was

added on 3/5/2013.

Our system offers the opportunity for people to cash out

their earnings as long as they pay off what they utilized in IPL funds to

generate those earnings. In order to generate enough earnings to have left over

after paying off your utilized IPL funds, a user must be completely active in

every earning activity to generate as many earnings as possible and by

following the main steps to achieve this type of success.

Every user is welcome to delete their account at any

point in time to cancel all IPL fees and IPL utilized due. We are sorry to hear

this was not made aware to you and that you did not encounter a pleasant

experience with our Success Coaches.

Review: I was charged 140.26 from Fanbox this morning for a charge that I did not authorize on my credit card. apparently this company has my credit card information and who knows what else. I have already contacted my bank to dispute the charge as well as contacted my local police department. I have NEVER at any point signed up for any service or account on this website. this site apparently is a scam and has received numerous complaints. This is the information I have found on them from several consumer websites:

Fanbox tricks people into giving up their email addresses, passwords and cell phone numbers and then spams them relentlessly. Not only that, they spam everyone in the contact list as well

For the past few months, several readers of Moneylife have pointed out that they are receiving an email from some Fanbox notifying that “On March 15 you earned $2.75 and your all time earnings are $234.40”. This is nothing but a phishing attempt through a spam mail.

According to [redacted], Fanbox is run by former [redacted].ac, a shady company that claims to be an online community which exists via text messages only. “It’s been the subject of many user complaints regarding deceptive billing practices and was fined and banned from operating reverse-billed services in the UK for operating misleading [redacted] services. They’ve now turned to a web-based service and are flooding the web with spam,” [redacted] says.

The spam mail sent by Fanbox claims that “you were invited by xxxx to the FanBox Beta product launch of IPL (I’ll Pay Later) and you can earn by advertising your product, service or blog now and pay later”.

In case you do not have a product, service or blog, then it offers you to participate in the profits from other people’s sales now and pay later, something it termed as ‘boosting’.

Basically, FanBox lures gullible people by showing the earning without actually doing anything. “A few weeks ago, I had an email from an outfit named Fanbox, saying I had been registered with them by an ex-colleague I haven't seen in years. I assumed it was a hacking exploit of some sort and deleted it. Since then, I have had frequent junk mails from Fanbox, with ever increasing sums of money I have ‘earned’. As I have no account with them, own no blogs or websites and do absolutely nothing to ‘earn’ anything online, I assumed this was a scam and deleted the emails which went to my mail junk folder anyway,” says one of the commentators on an internet forum.

“The service (of Fanbox) tricks people into giving up their email addresses, passwords and cell phone numbers and then spams them relentlessly. Not only that, they spam everyone in their contact lists. The spam messages have ‘to stop receiving emails click here’ links but it doesn’t do a thing. Instead it just lets Fanbox know that your email address is live,” says [redacted].

This makes one wonder, of Fanbox saying the person receiving its mail has earned so and so dollars, how the website generate this much income? That too when the recipient is not even working to earn any money?

There are two ways for earning for Fanbox. First, it collects your email ID, data and contacts and then uses it for marketing (spamming) and may also be selling it to some other interested parties. Secondly, after few emails, Fanbox sends a mail asking for a ‘maintenance fee’ for an account that may not even exist. Here is a sample mail, Fanbox sends for the maintenance fee…

“Hi,

As of Nov. 7, 2012, you had utilized $371.58 of your “I’ll Pay Later” funds, and have earned $309.91 since you started utilizing IPL.

Your October processing fee of $5.69 became due on Nov. 12, 2012. You'll want to pay your processing fee (LINK REMOVED) immediately to protect your account and money.

Please note that if your processing fee has not been paid by Nov. 22, 2012, a late fee will be added to your processing fee.

Amount due if paid before Nov. 22, 2012: $5.69

Amount due if paid on or after Nov. 22, 2012: $15.69

Did you know?

You can avoid manual payments and late fees, and protect your earnings by setting up It’s a free service! (another link removed)

Regards,

The FanBox Account Protection Team”

So what is the remedy to avoid getting trapped into Fanbox spam scam? In your mailbox, mark the mail from Fanbox as spam (for Gmail, you can also report it for phishing). If necessary create a filter that can automatically send any mail from Fanbox to trash. And most important, do not click on any link in the mailer.

According to [redacted], they (Fanbox) make their money by getting people to subscribe to [redacted]-based blogs, and also send other premium [redacted] messages. “Users are charged per message fee and unsubscribing is near impossible. Avoid both sites and ignore any emails you get from them. If the senders are people you know, notify them that they are being used to spam by the company,” it adds.Desired Settlement: I was charged 140.26 from Fanbox this morning for a charge that I did not authorize on my credit card. apparently this company has my credit card information and who knows what else. Review: FanBox has sent me monthly emails, advising me that payment is due for an IPL processing fee. I thought these was some kind of scam or phishing email, so I never responded. •January Processing Fee $19.77

•January Late Charge $10.00

•January Very Late Penalty $19.77

•February Late Charge $10.00

•February Very Late Penalty $19.77

•March Processing Fee $19.77

•March Late Charge $10.00

•March Very Late Penalty $19.77

•April Processing Fee $19.77

•April Late Charge $10.00

•April Very Late Penalty $19.77

•May Processing Fee $19.77

•May Late Charge $10.00

•May Very Late Penalty $19.77

•June Processing Fee $19.77

•June Late Charge $10.00

•June Very Late Penalty $19.77

Total outstanding fees: $297.24.

I have not authorized any FanBox services.Desired Settlement: Could the Revdex.com assist in having FanBox discontinue this unauthorized billing, credit all charges, and have them stop billing me?

Regards,

FanBox has been sending me emails about twice a week for the past several months, claiming that my "earnings" have grown to nearly $2,000, and that I need to protect my funds by validating my account immediately. I have never had any dealings with FanBox and have never responded to their emails, but the emails continue to come, even after I have tagged them as junk mail.

Review: I am getting several e-mails a day to my work e-mail address saying I need to verify my account & that I have earned money. They need to stop and of course the unsubscribe link will not work. Please make them leave me alone. I have not signed up for anything with this company or anyone working with this company.Desired Settlement: No further e-mails or contact by this company.

Review: Hello I started receiving emails from fanbox saying I've earned so much money for what I have no idea which I found a little hard to believe since I had never signed up for any membership to fanbox or used their service and have never planned on using it. I don't even understand what their service is. Then I received a email from them stating they were going to remove $111.60 from my bank acct. I promptly replied back and told them not to remove any money whatsoever from my acct. that I wasn't interested in them have never used any service from them and had no plans on ever doing so. A couple days later they removed the $111.60 from my acct. anyway and I notified them that they had no business removing any money without my permission for something I never ordered or wanted from them. I have not received a response back from them and they haven't reimbursed my acct. This company has unethical practices and are crooks.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I just want them to leave me alone and stop sending all these unwanted emails to me and put back the $111.60 they had no business taking out of my acct. in the first place.

Review: Fanbox sent me an email stating I earned $3205.08. When I attempted to cash out (collect) I was given a ficticous amount of $1585.02 that I allegedly owed in fees. I was never contacted about such fraudulent fees and was then asked for my pay pal username and password to pay the fees.

I was refused by a [redacted] to take the $1585.02 out of the $3205.08 (although I know this isn't a valid charge).

We appreciate you taking the time to communicate that there are ways we can optimize our product. We appreciate all of our customers and are always seeking to improve.Looking at your account and activity history, we see that you have generated all of your revenues through the use of ad credits granted to you. Spending ad credits without paying for them upfront entails a monthly processing fee, which is the reason for the amount of fees that you owe. Once you bring your account current, you are entitled to cashing out any profits in your balance. In order to generate profits and cash out those profits, members must be actively managing their expenditures (ad credits) to meet their desired goal while participating in the community and all earning activities available. While you generated a descent amount in earnings, you also continuously spent your ad credits, which in the end, must be paid back before cashing out. Also, earnings go through a maturity cycle of 90 days before being eligible for cash out. This is mentioned in our terms of service and within the account FAQs.

I thought maybe this FanBox thing would be a legitimate site, where I could earn money while blogging and

with no luck. The money they took left my account in a negative status. Also, I did NOT post anything ever

on FanBox, I believe they took my posts from Facebook, without permission.Desired Settlement: To: 1. Get FanBox to credit the $226.24 they took from my credit card without authorization.

Review: This company is a scam. They are a social networking site that steals passwords. I suddenly began receiving emails from them about "earning" money...when I "unsubscribed" at the bottom of the email, I then began receiving emails about owing them money. I NEVER signed-up for this service and can not seem to get them to stop sending me emails. No one answers the phone when you call or emails from their "Contact Us" page. There seems to be no way to stop this "company" from harassment.Desired Settlement: I would like this company to stop sending me emails about earning or owing money. No emails period.

I have already filed a complaint with the Revdex.com in San Diego about Fanbox. Some of the responses were unprofessional from the Revdex.com and I was also assured that Fanbox was contacted and that I would no longer be receiving spam emails from them. I just received this email today:Hello, Your account has been deleted. Your e-mail has been unsubscribed from all of our mailing lists. Review: I keep receiving emails stating I am a member of fanbox which I did not knowingly or willingly join and that I owe them some kind of fees to which they will add late fees if I do not pay them....I have contacted their representative twice requesting that I be removed from their membership, but they don't do it.......I didn't request membership and I want out and to stop receiving threatening emails from them or any further contact with them......Please can you help me?Desired Settlement: I will be removed from their membership and have no further contact with them...

I agree that I want nothing to do with fanbox, but I do not agree that I knowingly signed up with them.....From reading oomplaints fr,om others I have come to the conclusion that an email I received from [redacted] asking me to look at a slideshow must have been rigged to sign me up without my knowing it--there was no slideshow, the link did not work......They say I didn't email them, but what I was calling emails were messages on my computer to their contact representatives complaining and wanting out of something I never asked for in the first place....And I never used any of their money or took part in any their dealings......Thank you for your help in getting me out of that mess.......

MY COMMENTS ARE:

The FanBox company led me to believe that I had an accoutn with them and could have been tricked into giving important personal information to them threw deception.

While they said they removed me from thier hit list, how has the Revdex.com addressed this company's deceptive business practice? That is the bigger issue for you to address to protect the public. If that is not the function of the Revdex.com, please let me know that and please suggest who I can direct my complaint to.

Review: I was approached by Fanbox in October of 2012. It was to offer a way to make money online via IPL (I'll Pay Later)and Boosting, a way of marketing. Since then Fanbox has charged me about $160 for account maintenance, I still cannot cash out and get ANY money back. I have called the published contact number of 1-877-736-7629 and no one ever answers and there is no voicemail that ever picks up.I have been emailed by [redacted] to inform me of upcoming charges. I have replied to her that I did not want to be charged again, but I was charged last week for $27.72. I also asked Jessica to have someone call me to resolve this matter and no one has called me.Desired Settlement: All I want is 3 things: 1)My $160 back, 2)Close my account , and 3)NEVER contact me again.

The reason you were not able to cash out your earnings is because you had not paid back the IPL funds you utilized to generate those earnings. All earnings must fully mature for 90 days from the earning month. Once they are fully matured, you can use those earnings to pay back the IPL funds you utilized.

Review: Agressive, deceptive practice to sign up new members (without their knowledge)!Fan Box began sending me emails saying that I had earned various increasing amounts of money. I assumed this was some type of scam and haven't replied to any of the emails or clicked on any of the links in them. I have now received an email requesting payment for my membership.I never signed up for this - I don't want to be a part of this business.Desired Settlement: I want to be assured that I am not liable for any of these fees. And, I want to be removed from their email subscriber list.

Dear Ms. [redacted],

Yes, sorry for the brief email earlier this morning. The company

(FanBox) has removed me from the mailing list and de-activated my inadvertent

registration. They state that I am not liable for any fees, and they will not

send me any more emails. So, yes, this is resolved. Thank you very much for

your help in this matter.
