Freedom Pop Reviews (199)

Love the small hotspot device [redacted] with all the info you need on the display. I use it for my home computer. Never had a problem with the connection. Customer Service is a little slow, but they'll fix whatever needs to be fixed. I got free MBs twice the first month without asking for it due to some minor issues. Very generous in my opinion. I'm much happier with FreedomPop than I ever was with [redacted]

I have had nothing but good experiences with Freedom Pop in the more than a year
that I have been a subscriber. The only problems I had were operator error and an email to customer service fixed it fast. I used both the phone and the hotspot.

It's really good

BUYER BEWARE!! Just recently my girlfriend was charged twice $24.99 for a service that was canceled by phone back in March 2015. I called Freedom pop and they said the reason she was charged was that the phone was still active and there would be a charge of $24.99 every 3 months. So in essence she was charged for a service that hasn't been used since March. So after telling the rep that Lawyers were going to be involved he automatically sent me to an account rep, where she gladly canceled the service and refunded the full amount of $49.98. All in all this is a very tricky company, whose had bad service since day one.

I am very pleased with FreedomPop.
I am not tied to my cell phone for all of my essentials.
The service Freedom Pop provides is perfect for me since I primarily use my cell phone for downloading/listening to podcasts.

Freedompop is a shady company beware. They claim that they have a service called auto top up where you can have yourdebit card charged every month for service I declined auto top up and they still billed my card. My service is $20 I paid and they charged me $40 to my card. When you call your on hold over 2 hours they have no real customer support they just have so called forums when you do submit a support ticket they take over a week to respond. Be aware just use a regulaw cell phone service or be mad you didn't

this company is the worst company in customer service don't use their products better to pay extra 5 or 10 dollars and buy from any other company with good customer service this company is [redacted]

Good customer service when I had a charge on my account

So far, so good. Ordered service and got my mobile phone about a week later. It arrived in very good shape. Looks and operates as "new" for a recertified phone. Was able to connect to the Freedom Pop network in about 5 minutes, after reading the supplied instructions. Everything works as advertised and it will be a good phone to use when I need it. I spent some time changing my plan to the "basic 200" and removed extra cost services, but it will definitely be worth it. And if I ever need additional minutes or data, I know that I can easily "bump up" my plan online for low cost. Thanks Freedom Pop for providing this great service.

After well over a month of mobile hotspots, 3 observations:
- solid, smooth, glitch-free performance
- highest level of customer service (had multiple special situations, resolved perfectly, timely, without ever being on hold too long)
- not the least: BEST VALUE!

Strongly recommend over any other alternative.

And, btw, this is an absolutely organic, neutral review. I have no affiliation with FreedomPop and do not expect and have not been offered any incentive for this review.

So far all my interactions with freedompop have been positive.

I was very excited about FreedomPop. I ordered one for myself and then ordered another for my wife. Neither of us could get the phones to work. We could not make ANY calls and could not receive any calls. Could not text or anything. I worked with their support again and again trying to resolve this, but nothing worked. I finally canceled the accounts. All activity ceased a year ago and they showed no services and that they were deactivated. One year later FreedomPop suddenly shows up and takes $132 from my account and says that my account was not "successfully" canceled. One year later! A year ago they showed canceled and deactivated. I argued with them and they finally agreed to refund $119 of the $132. We'll see if I ever get it.

Very pleased.

I did not like the auto top up feature - even when its disabled when we go over the data limit, it charges extra money. I would like to data to be disabled and allow only when we manually add extra value to the account.

What my needs, Freedompop works out very well for me,

I reccomend not using FreedomPop based on the following experience:

[1] the wireless modem they send me did not function
[2] they have no functioning tech support as far as I can tell. Attempts to contact them will be ignored
[3] their user-based support forum is not capable of resolving technical or billing issues
[4] they censor the content on their use-based support form to prevent discussion of the fact that FreedomPop's activities are frequently essentially fraudulent.
[5] At the time of purchase, they failed to notify me that the wireless device I was buying would become unsupported when Sprint turns off its WiMax network in November 2015. They sold me a product that did not work, but, if it were to work, would then only function for approximately four months. I know no other word for this than fraud, plain and simple.

In a nutshell, this company makes its money by being deceitful. It sells used/refurbished phones but markets them like they are new. No where on the site does it say the phones are used/refurbished phones and it compaires its "discounted price" to the new phone price as if you are saving on a new phone. Also, when you sign up they will tag as many additional things to make you pay as possible. They are all relitively painless to opt out of, but some (like the automatic top up for 4 g data) are not where you would expect them to be. Also, the voice/call quality is completely [redacted]. The only way it could be worse is if it didn't work at all! It drops calls all the time, sounds choppy for everyone on the other end no matter how strong of a signal, and usually has a delay for sound. We have tried 2 different phones with the same issue.
Now on to the only saving grace. Its texting/data works great and is super affordable (as long as you disable the automatic top up), when you are throttled it is still 3g speeds (average speed using speedtest.com is 1.5Mbps) which is much better than anyone else. We use them for internet for our house since noone else offers service out where we live.
Basically, if you need great unlimited data/text and only rarely need voice and/or dont care about call quality, then they are a great deal. Just make sure to cancel all the little tag on services and I would buy the cheapest phone they have when they are running specials (which they do often).

Good

I had been having problems with the Freedompop service from the beginning. I had trouble getting service wherever I went. I emailed and called the support team and still had issues. I ported my number back to Verizon and was told that I had until June 16th to return the device. I called today, June 13th for instructions on how to return it and was told that the time line for a return was six days passed! I am now out $200! I cannot use the device with Verizon, another issue altogether, so I now have a phone that I can't use and Freedompop has my money! I feel like I have been taken. Being told the wrong information and now no resolution. Beware.

I bought the [redacted]. The phone works well, although it comes loaded almost to all it's storage capacity. I can't update the apps because the phone tells me there's not enough storage. Another problem was that for some reason I was assigned a $27.99 a month plan when I never authorized it. I was charged that amount until I became aware of the charges. After calling FreedomPop, I changed the plan, however; I was only reemburst for one month.
