Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/08/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The campaign owner was emailed several times and I received no responseSeveral people have posted in the comments section asking for an update on the project and they do not answer
The website Indiegogo is also allowing the same people to run multiple campaigns, some of which have ended and the same project creators have not sent out rewards
It appears that Indiegogo does nothing to protect the consumers from scamsThey let the same group of Campaign Owners run multiple projects and then not deliver goods
A good company protects the consumersIndiegogo collects money and then washes their hands of any problems

Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2015/08/30) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Indiegogo can hide behind some TOS but they do nothing to protect the users of the website
This site has a negative track record of letting projects collect money and then does nothing when the projects failWHat make this issue even worse is they let the same project creators run multiple projects and then never deliver on any of them

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: It is bogusThese terms are never presented to the customerThey are creating a loophole to steal people's money and not be responsible for delivering product or returning people's funds if they request a refundThis is OUTRIGHT Fraud
THEY are the ones that charged my credit card, and THEY are the ones that are responsible for a refund, not the campaign manager, especially when the campaign itself DOES NOT RESPOND to any customers.
Sincerely,*** ***

We appreciate this customers additional concerns. We have sent the campaign owner's contact information to this customer in ticket #***.
To address this backer's points, it is important to realize that Indiegogo is an OPEN platformThis means that people from around the world can raise funds for things that matter to them and in turn backers can help fund ideas they feel have merit or that they'd like to see come to lifeOur Terms of Use (http://***) obligates campaign owners to fulfill any promised perksPerk fulfillment is the full responsibility of the campaign ownerOur Terms of Use states,
“Indiegogo is an online crowdfunding venue for people and entities seeking to raise funds for their own Campaigns and to contribute to the Campaigns of othersCampaign Owners can offer gifts or rewards in the form of tangible items or intangible services (collectively, "Perks") to ContributorsPerks are not offered for saleIndiegogo makes no representations about the quality, safety, morality or legality of any Campaign, Perk or Contribution or the truth or accuracy of your User Content (as defined below) posted on the ServiceIndiegogo does not represent that Campaign Owners will deliver Perks or that Contributions will be used as described in the CampaignUsers use the Service at their own risk."
The decision to contribute to any campaign is in the sole determination of the contributor and their evaluation of the campaign. We encourage each backer to thoroughly review any campaign they are considering backing to ensure they are comfortable with the campaign owners merits

We understand this customer has additional concerns on this matter, as they have not received a refund from the owner of this campaign
As has previously outlined, Indiegogo is not able to issue this customer a refund for their contributionOur Terms of Use outline:
"Refunds
Contributors may request a refund from Indiegogo before the end of a Campaign hereFor Campaigns that have entered the InDemand program, Contributors may request a refund from Indiegogo within days of the contribution, hereContributions are eligible for a refund by Indiegogo unless (a) the contribution funds have already been transferred to the Campaign Owner, (b) the Perk associated with the contribution has been fulfilled, or (c) Indiegogo determines that there has been an abuse of these Terms of UseIndiegogo reserves the right to terminate User Accounts and remove Campaigns for any abuse of this refund policyFor Campaigns that have ended, or in situations where the contribution funds have been transferred to the Campaign Owner, Contributors should contact the Campaign Owner directly regarding refunds."
Campaign owners are the party solely responsible for their campaigns, including fulfilling any perks they offered thereinAs such, if this customer has questions about the campaign, when they can expect to receive their perks, or would like to receive a refund from this campaign owner, this customer will need to make inquires of the campaign owner, directlyIndiegogo is unable to mediate this or other customer disputes.
We wish this customer the best of luck in arriving at a resolution to their dispute, with the campaign owner

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Obviously it is hard to verify that all campaign owners will deliver on their product in most casesBut Indiegogo is not validating the legitimacy of the campaign owner themselvesIndiegogo is not holding the campaign owners to the Terms of Use, but expects the consumer to abide by themIndiegogo gets their cut, and if the campaign owner flops or disappears, who cares right? Because Indiegogo got their cut There are no measures in place to protect your 'consumers' from predatory campaign owners who use the platform to raise funds and take the money and run The contact information Indiegogo has provided for the campaigner owner is not validThere is no real company name, there is no physical address provided There is no person's name to use in discovery for court proceedingsThe email address is not valid, and there is no contact phone numberHow can you hide behind your Terms of Use when you don't apply those same terms to those predatory campaigns who use the platform to scam for funds? How do you not validate the identity and legitimate contact information for the campaign owners using your platform? If you cannot provide legitimate contact information for these predatory campaign owners who take the money and run, Indiegogo is just as liable as being part of the scamIndiegogo is accepting payment for letting these scam procure on their platform.
Sincerely,*** ***

This is regarding complaint ID *** (submitted an hour ago)Immediately after sending the complaint, I realized that my years were a year late (sorry for being an it)So the purchase date of Oct.6, should be Oct.6, 2016; and the estimated delivery date they promised at the time of the
purchase "Nov.2015" should be Nov.2016; also they changed the delivery date to Octafter I had paid for it (not Oct.2016)Thank you so much!

As the owner of the Indiegogo business, you collect a portion of contributed campaign fundsThis means my campaign contributions have aided in making Indiegogo a profitWhile Tango PC is the campaign owner, Indiegogo has a responsibility to provide protections to campaign contributorsThis clearly is not the caseIndiegogo is merely "passing *** buck", and shirking its responsibilities

Indiegogo has assisted in facilitating a failed business modelIndiegogo has the best of both worldsThis achieved by earning profits from campaign owners (and thus contributors), without assuming any risk of failures and monetary losses by campaign owners and contributorsIf campaign owners are not happy, oh wellIf contributors fail to get their promised perks, blame is shifted to the campaign ownersThe Revdex.com should not allow for poor business practices by companies, such as Indiegogo, because there are no protections afforded when a campaign goes sour

Contributions made through Indiegogo are transactions that take place between the campaign owner, contributor, and payment processor, and are non-refundable by Indiegogo, as stated in our Terms of Use posted at www.indiegogo.com/about/termsTherefore, we recommend the contributor reach out directly to the campaign owner if they are interested in receiving a refund
By creating a campaign on Indiegogo, the campaign owner agrees to use funds and fulfill all perks as stated in their campaignIf, for any reason, they are unable to use Contributions as described in their Campaign, they agree to work with the Contributors to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution, which may include refunding their Contributions

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
The contact information provided by Indiegogo for the campaign owner was incomplete and inaccurateThis effectively prevents contributors who have been defrauded, such as myself, from pursuing any further action to recover funds.Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Clearly this is a scam. Indiegogo collects money for items they advertise on their on website. The item in question is still being advertised right here: ***
They are passing all accountability for a product they're advertising. They claim they've already sent all the money to the third party, but the site linked above clearly shows the item being in the prototype stage and not in production or shipping. There have been numerous complaints about this product and the 3rd party contractor whom they are trying to pass the buck to. I have in fact reached out to the 3rd party in question and they are silent on the matter
I didn't pay 219$ as a donation. I paid it for a product. Whether or not that product is in development or not doesn't change the fundamental nature of the transaction. I did not receive what I paid for. Indiegogo took my money with a promise of product that was never delivered. Indiegogo did not do it's due diligence to see if my order (their terminology) was fulfilled correctly. They just put the status as fulfilled when it was not
Since indiegogo took my money they are responsible for refunding it. I don't care about their internal policies on the matter. Advertising a product, selling it, collecting money for it and then not shipping/delivering it is called fraud in every state
Sincerely,Richard***

Campaign owner in question is a non-existing personThere is absolutely no way to reach this person (believe me, I tried!)
My main concern with this is the fact that IndieGogo refuses to take any responsibilityThey just keep pointing to the Terms of Use and refuse to take any actionThey should take measures against crowdfunding scams on the IndieGogo website, Right now I get a feeling they don't careThey take their part of the money and for the rest it's the problem of the contributors who fell for the scam
That's not how you treat customers! And it's not how other crowdfunding platforms operateThey do take measures to prevent crowdfunding scams from happening and if they do happen (naturally it's impossible to prevent any scam from happening) they take every possible action to help contributorsIndieGogo however still hasn't done anythingThey didn't even take the time to inform the contributors about the scamMost of the contributors don't even know yet their money was stolen
Do something about this! For me IndieGogo has proven to be a totally unreliable platform for crowdfundingUntil this has been resolved I will never use IndieGogo again and will advise everyone else to do the same
Regards,

12/30/I participated in the "***" *** project through IndiegogoAfter a year of delays and excuses without any signs of actual progress from the project owner, it's fairly clear nothing will come of my "investment." While I understand there's a level of risk in any investment, I expect a crowdfounding intermediatary such as Indiegogo to provide some level of support in cases of probable fraudInstead, Indiegogo updated their terms of service to wash their hands of any such requirement (a web search will find articles in major publications on this topic)This summer I requested my bank reverse the charge made to pay for my invesment on this project on basis of fraud and no product shipped within timeframe stated at time of purchaseIndiegogo in turn disputed my reversal request, and got the bank to deny itKeep this in mind when you participate on IndiegogoI highly doubt I will ever fund a project via Indiegogo in the future, and I most definitely will not recommend them to others

We appreciate from this customer’s reply that they may not have enough clarity on Indiegogo, crowdfunding, and the role of Indiegogo in projects on our platformWe’d like to take some time to clarify
As previously stated, Indiegogo is a global crowdfunding platformCrowdfunding allows for passionate people to raise funds for their new ideas - many of which have never been successfully realized beforeThis makes crowdfunding incredibly exciting
However, it is important to note that contributing to a campaign and claiming a perk on Indiegogo is not the same as buying something onlineInstead, the nature of crowdfunding is such that campaigns on Indiegogo are raising funds for work-in-progress projects, ideas, or causesWith your support, these campaigners will be a step closer to bringing their idea to life, but are not guaranteed to come to fruitionMany campaigns offer perks in exchange for different contribution amountsPerks can be objects, acknowledgement, a thank you, services, events or anything that does not violate our Terms of Use
Much like how channel owners create their own videos and content on several video hosting sites, or how shop owners create their own shops on various online platforms to sell their products- so to do campaigners create their own campaigns on Indiegogo but they are raising money to raise funds for their ideas or projectsEach campaign, and the content therein, is created by the campaigner who is directly and solely responsible for their campaign, the perks offered, and any promises made therein. Indiegogo does not run campaigns, nor offer perks
As has previously outlined, Indiegogo is not able to issue this customer a refund for their contributionOur Terms of Use outline:
