While Indiegogo makes it a point to give people a feeling of security by emphasizing the campaign managers are still responsible to provide perks even if goal isn't reached they don't use that same language to warn people that they will do nothing to ensure it happensI feel this practice misleads people that visit their website into a feeling of security and into believing there is some protection when clearly they accept payments and then take no responsibility at allI will always believe that they simply took advantage of a 100% disabled veteran and intend to let the world know what happened to meI plan to contact the media now Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 11, 2015/10/25) */ We understand this customer has additional concerns on this matter Indiegogo provides an open crowdfunding platform permitting funds to be raised for a wide range of projects in accordance with our Terms of Use (www.indiegogo.com/about/terms)Campaigns are run by their individual campaign owner's and not by IndiegogoIndiegogo does not manage campaigns, nor does Indiegogo offer perksInstead, all perks are offers made by Campaign Owners, and we recommend to any contributor who has questions about a campaign's offerings that make inquires of the campaign owner People can raise money for various things, and be at various stages of their projectContributors are backing an idea, not purchasing a pre-made projectLike anyone contributing to an early-stage project, you accept the risk that the project might not come to fruitionAgain, Indiegogo does not make claims or verify that a "campaign owner will deliver perks or that contributions will be used as described on the campaign." While I am disappointed in Indiegogo's stance on this I understand their business modelThere have been numerous online complaints about the particular campaign and class action law suits are being consideredIn the case of other crowdfunding sites such as kickstarter if the campaign owner cannot provide a working prototype within a reasonable time frame kickstarter cancels the campaign and refunds the money directly to the backerI find this a much more suitable model as the crowd sourcing company takes some responsibilty in protecting the consumerAs always one can vote with one's feet and choose not to use a particular crowd sourcing company in the future which is what I intend to doThank you very much

We understand this customer has not received a perk from a campaign they contributed to, and are now requesting a refund Indiegogo is a global crowdfunding platform that empowers people to raise funds for the things that matter to them, and in turn allows backers to help fund ideas they'd like to see come to life.Regarding the perk, as perks are offers made solely by the owner of this campaign, we recommend this backer inquire of the status of their perk, with the campaign ownerWe note the campaign owner has been posting updates on their shipping, on their campaign page, here: [redacted] This is the best place to get the latest information on the status of this campaign owner's manufacturing and when they expect to ship out their products Regarding this customer's refund request, our records show that this contributor’s contribution has already been sent to the campaigner, which means that a refund can no longer be issued by IndiegogoLearn more about our refund policy [redacted] , and in our Terms of Use, [redacted] Therefore, we recommend the contributor reach out directly to the campaign owner if they are interested in receiving a refundAlthough we are unable to refund the contributor’s contribution, we have been in touch with this contributor and have shared the campaign owner’s contact information with this contributor in an effort to facilitate communication

We understand this customer has additional points on this To clarify, our team has been in touch with this customer via email regarding this matterWe understand that this customer has filed a chargeback for their contributionChargebacks can take some time to be resolvedHowever, we see that per this customers note, the chargeback was settled in this customer’s favor Regarding this customers original complaint about their perk, Indiegogo does not make claims or verify that a “campaign owner will deliver perks or that contributions will be used as described on the campaign.” The decision to contribute to any campaign is in the sole determination of the contributor and their evaluation of the campaign, not IndiegogoOur Terms of Use ( [redacted] obligates campaign owners to fulfill any promised perks “Indiegogo is an online crowdfunding venue for people and entities seeking to raise funds for their own Campaigns and to contribute to the Campaigns of othersCampaign Owners can offer gifts or rewards in the form of tangible items or intangible services (collectively, "Perks") to ContributorsPerks are not offered for saleIndiegogo makes no representations about the quality, safety, morality or legality of any Campaign, Perk or Contribution or the truth or accuracy of your User Content (as defined below) posted on the ServiceIndiegogo does not represent that Campaign Owners will deliver Perks or that Contributions will be used as described in the CampaignUsers use the Service at their own risk." Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: This is exactly what they said to me when I contacted them They have done nothing to facilitate communication I even suggested they look at this "campaigner's" page and see how many people are complaining of a lack of communicationIndiegogo said they are here to help us and help prevent fraud, yet they have done absolutely nothing in my (and by the looks of the page many others) situation IF this is how they "protect" backers they are not only condoning scams, but supporting it Sincerely,Kristen ***

Indiegogo is a global crowdfunding platform that empowers people to raise funds for the things that matter to them, and in turn allows backers to help fund ideas they'd like to see come to life It is important to note that the nature of crowdfunding ( [redacted] ) is that contributing to a campaign on Indiegogo is not the same thing as making a purchase in a storePeople can raise money for various things, and be at various stages of their projectContributors are backing an idea, not purchasing a pre-made project or itemLike anyone contributing to an early-stage project, you accept the risk that the project might experience delays, changes to their original vision, or may not come to fruitionIndiegogo is not able to guarantee that perks will be fulfilled or that, if fulfilled, the Backer will find them satisfactory Regarding this customer's refund request, our records show that this contributor’s contribution has already been sent to the campaigner, which means that a refund can no longer be issued by IndiegogoLearn more about our refund policy [redacted] , and in our Terms of Use, [redacted] Therefore, we recommend the contributor reach out directly to the campaign owner if they are interested in receiving a refundAlthough we are unable to refund the contributor’s contribution, we have been in touch with this contributor and have shared the campaign owner’s contact information with this contributor in an effort to facilitate communication

We understand this customer has additional concerns on this matter When a customer files a chargeback, it may take up to days for the credit card companies to resolve a chargeback dispute While a chargeback on a given transaction is pending with the credit card companies the transaction is in a temporary ‘hold’ status on IndiegogoDuring this time neither the campaign owner nor the backer have the funds- instead they are held pending the decision by the banks Indiegogo temporarily holds the funds while they are pendingIn this case we do temporarily recommend that the campaign owner not fulfill any perks involved in pending chargebacksIf they were to fulfill the perk while the chargeback was pending, if the chargeback was decided in the backers favor the campaign owner would be out both for the cost of the perk and wouldn’t get the money from the backer to subsidize the cost of the perk While we do recommend a campaign owner wait to see the bank’s resolution of the chargeback before fulfilling, if the banks decide in the campaign owner’s favor then the campaign owner is required to fulfill all perks claimed- as outlined in our Terms There are two possible outcomes to a chargeback, and we’ve outlined the resolutions and following obligations below: 1.) If the banks decide in the backers favor, then the transaction will be refunded back to the issuing credit cardIn this case, the transaction will be removed from Indiegogo, the campaign owner will not fulfill the perks because the backer is no longer a contributor to their campaign and the campaign owner does not have the funds to fulfill the perk 2.) If the banks decide against the backer, then the transaction will be reinstated on the campaign pageIf this is the case, the campaign owner will receive the full funds from the transaction and are obligated to the same responsibilities with this transaction as they are any other, as outlined in our Terms of Use ( [redacted] )- including fulfilling perks If a campaign owner is unable to fulfill perks, our Terms “If any Campaign Owner is unable to fulfill any of its commitments to Contributors (including delivering any Perks), the Campaign Owner will work with the Contributors to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution, which may include refunding their Contributions” Finally, if this customer’s chargeback has been rejected/decided against this backer, then as previously outlined, the campaign owner is obligated to fulfill the perks claimed by this backer We know the bank’s chargeback process is not the most intuitive experience, and we appreciate this customer’s understanding
