Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: On 9/15/2015, Indiegogo wrote to me "We will send a message to the campaign owner to remind them of their responsibilities to keep you and contributors updated on the status of their project." did the campaign owner ever replied to you message? I'm asking because he NEVER replied to my NUMEROUS attempts to contact him But wait, you already knew that, as you wrote to me on 9/17/that "I am sorry to hear that you didn’t receive a response from this campaign owner." [redacted] This Smarty Ring project is a perfect case of crowdscaming, of large scale fraud ...Just go check on [redacted] and you will read, on the top section of the homepage "Delivery will be made by First week of April 2014"Didn't you guys realize that today was May 2016? Should I also ask the campaign owner to update his scamy website? You are asking me to read your terms and conditions but did you read (and reply to) all the comments (as of today) left by happy backers like me? [redacted] Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: If Indiegogo thinks it's me who should contact the owner directly, please give me the full information and effective way to contact the ownerThe only informaiton I have is that the name of the project is "SIMPIZ" and the email of the owner is [redacted] while Indiegogo insists it's non of their businessBy the way before I filed the complaint I have emailed to the above address for nearly times trying to solve the problemBut no use.Sincerely, [redacted] ***

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Indegogo should be responsible for communicating with the Campaign to resolve the issue if the Campaign is ignoring all negative feedback on their product from backersThis response from Revdex.com is not satisfactoryPlease have a representative from Indegogo contact me.Sincerely, [redacted] ***

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: indiegogo go should be held responsible for the fulfillment of transactions or give a refund to their contributors if not their website will make it easy for criminals to cheat victims out of their contributionsAt the very least they should file a claim with authorities or police and recover these paymentsJust standing by and seeing their contributors being ripped off makes them just as guilty as their scammersIndiegogo, Kickstarter and other crowdsourcing companies should be prohibited if they can not provide a safe platform for internet transactions Sincerely, [redacted]

First, I want to thank you for allowing me to express my concerns against a giant company like IndiegogoThis company is on it's way (if not already) to being a billion dollar companySoon the only way they will feel obligated to make any changes will be through City, State or Federal political pressureI appreciate that you were able to get somewhat of an un-automated response regarding my complaintHowever, as I expected, they are pretty much passing [redacted] blame to the Pivothead SMART campaign owners So, let me explain why I do not except their responseWhen supporting a cause or raising funds for a person in need on Indiegogo, contributors are well aware they are supporting without the expectation of receiving anything in returnHowever, when people contribute to Indiegogo Product Development campaigns, they absolutely believe they will be receiving a product, if campaigns reach their goal or in the case of Pivothead SMART, exceed their goalIndiegogo requires campaign owners offer several "perks" based on the amount supporters are willing to contributeThe lower perks sometimes don't offer the actual product in developmentIn that case, a small token of thanks is given for participationHowever, if you do not know the campaign owner personally, and you contribute a substantial amount (more than the product will actually cost if purchased directly) then I believe contributors absolutely expect to receive the "Perk" promisedKickstarter is also a funding platform but it's an all or nothing platformThis means if the campaign organizer does not reach their goal, all supporters receive their money backIndiegogo charges a fee to post campaigns AND allows campaign organizers to keep ALL the funds raised regardless if they meet their goals or notThey also allow organizers to go out for a 2nd round of funding even after reaching their primary goalSo basically, Indiegogo supports the campaign organizers, they do not support the campaign contributorsI have been very vocal as have many other contributorsIf you look at the comment section, their are several complaints including a request to start a Class Action LawsuitThe problem is that there is no contact name, physical address, or phone number for Pivothead SMARTCorrespondence is only by emailPer Indiegogo's request, I went out to Pivothead Smart and asked that they respond to my complaintThis was their reply: 12/2/"Hi [redacted] , We are working on an update for all our backers soonWithout setting an exact date, I can tell you that the SMART series Pivotheads are well underway and currently in the final stages of QCWe are also working on details pertaining to the beta, the app & a few other little things, as well as continuing to work on existing Pivothead itemsOur team is small but very hard working, so please excuse the delayAnd I can assure you, it's not vaporwareThank youwww.pivothead.com" Then the PivotheadSMART campaign organizer immediately deleted my comments and others on their page that questioned this campaigns validityThat frustrated me so I went out to Indiegogo again and let them know I was contacting the Revdex.comThis was Indiegogo's reply: "Dec XX XX:XX: Hi [redacted] , Thanks for reaching out and for your feedback on Indiegogo's commenting systemAt this time, public comments can only be posted by Indiegogo users who have contributed to a campaignWhile campaign owner's do currently have the ability to delete comments in the interface, we highly recommend that campaign owners only using this functionality to delete spam commentsWhile campaign owner's do have the ability to delete comments, they also get notifications of every comment made to their campaign pageI can appreciate that it is frustrating should a campaign owner delete comments that are intended to question the status of a perk etcI have passed [redacted] comments regarding this frustration, along to the appropriate team as feedback on our commenting systemWe're always interested in hearing from our customers and your input is extremely valuable in creating a better platform for everyone, so thank you again for taking the time to shareFinally, the campaign owner is the party solely responsible for their campaign and any perks offeredWe have previously provided you with additional means of contacting the owner of this campaign in Ticket #XXXXXX, including social media accounts, and the email address of the campaign owner, in an effort to facilitate communication between the two partiesBest, ***, Customer Happiness Supervisor, Indiegogo." If you look at the comment section right now on the Pivothead SMART campaign page, you will see there are still complaints regarding the same issues I hadNothing is being done except Indiegogo is deflecting blameWhat really makes matters worse, is the fact that Pivothead has us (campaign contributors) on their mailing listThey have the audacity to send us emails advertising a version of the product they promised us, for sale in stores like Target, Sammy's Camera, and Willoughby's! So you're selling a version of the product that you are telling us is still in the QC stage? That doesn't make senseI went to a local Target and they did not in fact carry this productAll Indiegogo campaigns are not fraudulentHowever, the Pivothead SMART campaign is suspect and I will continue to be vocal until all contributors receive the perks promised or until Indiegogo resolves this issueThank you Happy Holidays! Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 12, 2015/01/12) */ We understand that this customer was not satisfied with our prior response As an open platform, campaign owners may raise funds for a wide variety of projects, from entrepreneurial, to creative, to cause-related campaignsAs has been previously outlined, the nature of crowdfunding is such that campaigns on Indiegogo are raising funds for work-in-progress projects, ideas, or causes Again, it's important to note that contributing to a campaign and claiming a perk on Indiegogo is not the same as buying something onlineBecause projects may still be in their early stages, many things can happen between the time the project is raising funds and the expected project release dateWhile your contribution brings the campaign idea closer to becoming reality, there's always the chance that a project may end up falling through, and the campaign owner may not be able to offer their contributors the perks they'd originally promised We appreciate this customer's thoughts that they "believe contributors absolutely expect to receive the "Perk" promised." In addition to posting this content in many help center articles and places on our website, we also tell each contributor the following, before they complete their transaction: "By clicking 'Continue', you acknowledge that you understand that you are contributing to a work-in-progress and not making a direct purchasePerks are managed by the campaigners and cannot be guaranteed by IndiegogoYour click also acknowledges that you agree to the Indiegogo Terms of Use." Again, Indiegogo does not manage perksThe information Indiegogo has on when this campaign expects to fulfill their perks, is the same as this contributor- what the campaign owner has posted on their campaign page and updates tabWe recommend that this contributor continue to get in touch with the owner of this campaign if they have questions about the status of the project, or when they can expect to receive their perks We have already been in touch with this contributor and have provided the campaign owner's contact information to this contributor to facilitate communication Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (4200, 14, 2015/01/28) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I do NOT accept this business' resolution because it does not resolve the problemI standby my original statement that Indiegogo is allowing people (sometimes disguised as legitimate US businesses) to rip off their registered subscribers/contributorsIndiegogo does not make it clear on the front pages of any campaigns that organizers may NOT deliver perks as stated even when goals are met an exceededIndiegogo declines responsibility for campaigns and their perks when registering for the site, at which point a user has not even decided whether they will even be supporting a campaign financiallyAlso, I have a major issue with Indiegogo claiming to have given me the Campaign Organizer's (Pivothead Smart) contact information to help facilitate with this issueIndiegogo gave me a general email which resulted in the one response I stated before saying something to the effect of 'Don't worry, this is a real product and not "Vapor-Wear"'? You can check the message board and see that Pivothead Smart is even deleting people's questions and comments about why no one has yet to receive what was promisedEven if you go to www.pivothead.com, there is NO phone number, no address, no country, no President/Founder/Board Member name or anything close to verify this is a legitimate company, doing business in the USIn that case, all we have to go on is what Indiegogo posts and what they allow to be displayedIt appears as though Indiegogo is indeed vouching for this Pivothead CampaignSo yes, I believe Indiegogo is responsible because they host bogus campaigns while protecting their Campaign Organizer's identityThey take money from unsuspecting contributors and supporters, without making sure compaigns follow through on promisesLast but not least, they have the audacity to allow campaign organizers to utilize OUR personal email and contact info to send us advertisements on how we can purchase an item that we have already been promised as a perk and never received? Every email advertisement I get from retailers such as Target, Staples, or online affiliates advertising the Pivothead Wearable Glasses is a slap in the face to all the Indiegogo financial contributors of this productHow can Indiegogo in good conscience stand back and allow this Campaign organizer to tell us we are not receiving perks as promised because the product is still in production while selling the product in retail stores and online? This is fraudulent in my opinion

Their response suggests that they have no responsibility for anything related to this project and any customer has only the campaign owner to addressThe campaign owner is not responding to the dozens of complaints on the websiteIndiegogo also does not respondThere is no accountability for what happened to $250,Why did this project fail? Indiegogo did not vet this project properly and allowed an obvious fraud to be placed on their websiteIndiegogo collected a large fee for this from the contributorsThis is illegal and unethicalThe silence suggests that they do have responsibility to their customers but are unwilling to pursue the facts of this matterThe money is gone and has likely been stolen by the campaign owners one of whom is in Florida and the other traveling between Italy and ChinaThe electronic parts from this project have been advertised on various Italian websites with complete disregardThis project requires a review by Indiegogo of what went wrong with a reporting to their customersThey advertise "customer happiness" yet have done nothing to live up to this phraseThis project was hosted by Indiegogo as educational technologyMany teachers and their students were to benefit from these low cost electronic kits that could be used to teach children in low budget schoolsIt is particularly unethical to take advantage of an educational theme in this waySadly, all Indiegogo has done about this is to ignore customer complaints, refuse to bring this to any kind of an acceptable conclusion considering the amount of the fee they have collected and ultimately avoid any suggestion of responsibility of any kindThis is reprehensible, unethical, illegal and bad businessFinal Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 9, 2015/05/04) */ Indiegogo provides an open crowdfunding platform permitting funds to be raised for a wide range of projects in accordance with our Terms of Use ( [redacted] )Campaigns are run by their individual campaign owner's and not by IndiegogoIndiegogo does not manage campaigns, nor does Indiegogo offer perksInstead, all perks are offers made by Campaign Owners, and we recommend to any contributor who has questions about a campaign's offerings that make inquires of the campaign ownerPeople can raise money for various things, and be at various stages of their projectContributors are backing an idea, not purchasing a pre-made projectLike anyone contributing to an early-stage project, you accept the risk that the project might not come to fruitionAgain, Indiegogo does not make claims or verify that a "campaign owner will deliver perks or that contributions will be used as described on the campaign." This response from Indiegogo is unacceptableWhile I acknowledge that perks are the responsibility of the campaign owner, it is still unclear to me exactly what the responsibility of Indiegogo is relative to this campaignFor the substantial amount of money they collected it would seem that Indiegogo has a minimum responsibility of providing correct and accurate information to facilitate this matter so the funders can contact the campaign owner and negotiate a settlementRepeatedly, Indiegogo has provided information which is not viable and therefore the contributors are unable to communicate with Mr [redacted] This may be technically legal but it is highly unethical and not a good business practiceThe result is unhappy customersThere has been no accounting for the $250,dollars and where it was sentWhy doesn't a campaign have a contractual obligation to report the use of the money raised? Indiegogo needs to provide contact information which works while to date attempts to contact the campaign owner has produced nothingAll organizations are accountable for funds donated even if they are generated by a fund raising/marketing company for a specific causeI think with some meaningful communication on the part of Indiegogo we would be on the way to resolving this matterThe complete lack of cooperation on the part of Indiegogo is ironic since their idealistic view of raising funds for worthy causes is in direct contradiction to the off putting manner with which they treat their customersConsidering the old adage "the customer is always right"; this doesn't seem to be part of Indiegogo's creedAll one has to do is read the blog for the BE Maker campaign to get a sense of how angry and disappointed funders are with this companyThey should develop some way of providing a level of customer satisfaction even if it isn't their legal obligationAll they have produced in this case is unhappy customersDirect quote from Indiegogo website: One month ago Hello Everyone, First I just want to say please do not harass my wife or anyone else as she/they has nothing to do with this campaignIf this continues I will seek authoritiesI know this project is going on longer then any of us intendedI know many of you want your product or money back, but I need to be able to get a hold of [redacted] in order to accomplish either one of these scenariosI have been working on my side of the project which is getting you videos, and writing up scriptsI intend to post another video shortlyAs soon as [redacted] gets back with me on where everything is, I will make an update on those developments as soon as he answers meThank You, [redacted] From [redacted] / WE ARE PERFORMING MAINTENANCE, MIGRATION AND UPDATES PLEASE BE PATIENT, THE SERVICES WILL BE BACK SOONTHANK YOU Not even a thank you note from [redacted] or Indiegogo for our contributionThanks for your help with resolving thisIf Indiegogo takes these concerns seriously rather than reiterating the technicalities of their terms of service, it will make them a stronger competitor in the crowd funding businessCordially, [redacted] ***
