We are in receipt of the consumer complaint filed by Mr*** in connection with Intelius’ pricing structure
Intelius customers are presented with a two-tier pricing structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius
website. Each offer includes a discounted report price plus a one-week trial of the Intelius Premier Plus membership. If the user elects to continue with their selected report type but does not wish to continue the Premier Plus membership they are instructed to cancel the Premier Plus membership within the first days and they will only be charged $for the Premier Plus trial membership
Per the Terms Service Mr*** agreed to upon the completion of his report purchase, Intelius has a no refund policy. However, as a matter of customer courtesy, I have provided a refund of the $charge and removed Mr*** from the Premier Plus membership program on November 9, 2016. Mr*** should note this refund on his credit card within the next to days, depending on his financial institution’s refund policies.
This should resolve Mr***’s complaint. If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Tara M***

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because your info is far worse than other sitesNothing else in my Google results is anywhere near as violatingYou provide my street address for all to see (poorly censored and still obvious), and I cannot unlist myself without sending you a BIRTH CERTIFICATEYou'll excuse me if I do not trust you with that info since you are a huge scamNow you even admit unlisting me is not permanentI have every intention of reporting you to the FTC or whatever federal branch needs to be notified as soon as I have the time.Sincerely,*** ***

I am rejecting this response because I did call them and cancel on the same day I tried the service (which doesn't even provide what they claim)I never had any intention of keeping a long term subscription which is why I cancelled the same day..so I wouldn't forget and have this happenThey told me over the phone it was cancelledThey never followed up with an email to confirm thisIn fact, when I asked for an email the second time I called, they refused to send oneThis is blatant thievery and I see several hundred complaints against them, stating the same issue.

Managing personal information through the Intelius opt-out service is just one step in eliminating its availabilityThere are many other sites that may provide similar information found on our sitePublic records sites, search engines, social networking sites and other online companies provide
different levels of information about individualsWe would be happy to remove Ms***’s information from our database; however, we are unable to locate it. It would be helpful if Ms*** would reply with some additional information such as her date of birth and previous cities and states which she has resided. Once we have located Ms***’s information, we will be able to remove it.Intelius does not ask for a URL to submit a request to opt out. Generally, we request that proof of identity be submitted along with the removal request. Proof of identity can be a state issued ID card or driver's license. When uploading, faxing, or mailing a copy of a driver's license, we require that the photo and the ID number be crossed out. However, we do need to see the name, address, and date of birth to ensure that all information is removed from our database. If an individual does not feel comfortable faxing us their driver’s license or other state issued identification, they can send a notarized statement of their identity. We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this issue apologize for any inconvenience

Intelius’s policy is to use all applicable means to deliver the information service to our customers. The information we provide is gathered from selected public records and other sources. Local, state, and federal agencies make updates to public records. The information can come
from sources such as: marketing surveys, land deeds, catalog purchases, voter registrations, lawsuit filings, court records, magazine subscriptions, and address changes. This data is compiled into a comprehensive public record search that Intelius maintains with active updates from its sources. We want Ms*** to be fully satisfied with her purchase from Intelius. Since she was not completely satisfied with the People Search Plus Report with Phone and Address Check, we have processed a refund of $to her account on 6/16/2016. This refund ($& $4.95) will appear on her statement in one of the next two billing cycles depending on the closing. Again, all charges have been refunded. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience

Complaint #*** Consumer: *** ***-*** We are in receipt of the consumer complaint filed by Ms***-*** in connection with her Intelius Premier Membership. Intelius provides clear disclosures within the report purchase process of the Premier membership
offer. Below, I have outlined the process and various places in which Intelius notified Ms***-*** of the membership offer and details On February 27, 2016, Ms***-*** purchased a $People Search ReportAfter completing her report purchase and clicking the “Submit” button, Ms***-*** was presented with an optional 7-day money back guarantee of the Intelius Premier membership. The offer appeared on an individual web page, contained specific offer details and gave her the choice to accept or decline the offer. The offer details were presented in a stand-alone box and explained that the Premier membership would automatically bill Ms***-***’s debit or credit card used to purchase her initial report, the amount her card would be charged and instructions on how to cancel the membership either online or via a toll-free number during and after the 7-day money back guarantee period along with hyperlinks to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy Directly next to the offer details box, the offer presented two clickable buttons, one labeled “Yes and Show My Report” and the other labeled “No, Show My Report”. In order for the Premier membership to be processed, Ms***-*** would have needed to enter her email address and affirmatively click the “Yes” button. Similar to the offer details box, a statement above the email text field explained that “By typing my email address below, that will constitute my electronic signature and is written authorization to charge/debit my account, and by clicking “Yes” I certify that I have read and agree to the Offer Details displayed to the right.” In this case, Ms***-*** entered her email address and clicked the “Yes” button to accept the membership offerA copy of the purchase page is attached for your review Shortly after his report purchase, Ms***-*** would have received a receipt confirmation email sent to the email address associated with his Intelius accountThis email contained the amount Ms***-*** paid for his report and the Intelius Premier membership terms and conditions and instructions on how to cancel his membership According to our records, Ms***-*** did not opt out of the Intelius Premier membership or contact the Intelius Customer Care team until July Ms***-*** subsequently filed a chargeback with her financial intuition in connection with her last three membership feesHowever, Mastercard ruled the fees were legitimate and reversed the chargebacks in Intelius’ favor Per the Terms of Service, Intelius has a no refund policyHowever, as a matter of customer courtesy, I have gone authorized a refund of Ms***-***’s last three membership fees in the total amount of $(x $19.95) on August 1, and removed her from the paid Premier membership planMs***-*** should note these refunds on her account within the next days depending on her financial institution’s billing cycle and internal refund policy. This information should successfully resolve Ms***-***'s complaint Sincerely, Tara M*** SrIP & Marketing Compliance Manager www.intelius.com

Intelius solely collects and compiles the public records and publicly available information. Local, state, and federal agencies make updates to public records. The information can come from sources such as: marketing surveys, land deeds, catalog purchases, voter registrations, lawsuit
filings, court records, magazine subscriptions, and address changes. We have removed the requested information from the Intelius database, as well as affiliated sites. We recommend Samba Younan review our privacy policy located on the Intelius website at https://www.intelius.com/privacy.php.Generally, we do require an individual’s identity to be verified prior to processing an opt-out. To do this, we request that proof of identity be submitted along with the removal request. Proof of identity can be a state issued ID card or driver's license. When uploading, faxing, or mailing a copy of a driver's license, we require that the photo and the driver's license number be crossed out. However, we do need to see the name, address, and date of birth to ensure that all information is removed from our database. If an individual does not feel comfortable faxing us their driver’s license or other state issued identification, they can send a notarized statement of their identity.Additionally, it is important to remember that the procedure to opt out is temporary. Intelius is constantly updating its database with new public records. It is possible that an individual may need to resubmit a request to opt out for any new records that may have been added to its database since their last opt out request. While we are unable to anticipate how, when, or if information will reappear on our sites, we will be more than happy to remove an individual’s information upon request We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this issue and apologize for any inconvenience
