Intelius’s policy is to use all applicable means to deliver the information service to our customers. The information we provide is gathered from selected public records and other sources. Local, state, and federal agencies make updates to public records. The information can come
from sources such as: marketing surveys, land deeds, catalog purchases, voter registrations, lawsuit filings, court records, magazine subscriptions, and address changes. This data is compiled into a comprehensive public record search that Intelius maintains with active updates from its sources.We want Mr*** to be fully satisfied with his purchase from Intelius. Since he was not completely satisfied with the Background Report and Public Records Report, we have processed a refund totaling $to his account on 4/1/2016. Additionally, we refunded a charge of $for the Intelius Premier 7-Day Pass on the same day. This refund ($49.95, $0.95, $7.95) will appear on his statement in one of the next two billing cycles depending on the closing. Again, all charges have been refunded and no future membership charges will occurThe Intelius Premier 7-Day Pass can be canceled within the Intelius Premier Membership dashboard, by email, or by phone. We have verified there have been no recent issues with our Customer Care contact number. The Customer Care contact number and hours of operation can be found under the “Contact Us” link on Intelius.com. filings, court records, magazine subscriptions, and address changes.We have removed the requested information from the Intelius database, as well as affiliated sites.We recommend *** *** review our privacy policy located on the Intelius website at https://www.intelius.com/privacy.php.Generally, we do require an individual’s identity to be verified prior to processing an opt-out. To do this, we request that proof of identity be submitted along with the removal request. Proof of identity can be a state issued ID card or driver's license. When uploading, faxing, or mailing a copy of a driver's license, we require that the photo and the driver's license number be crossed out. However, we do need to see the name, address, and date of birth to ensure that all information is removed from our database. If an individual does not feel comfortable faxing us their driver’s license or other state issued identification; they can send a notarized statement of their identity.Additionally, it is important to remember that the Opt Out procedure is temporary. Intelius is constantly updating their database with new public records. It is possible that an individual may need to resubmit an Opt Out request for any new records that may have been added to our database since their last Opt Out request. Callers requesting to have their call escalated further after being transferred to a Customer Relations Supervisor cannot be transferred to someone since there is no one else available to take their call. Our Customer Relations Supervisors are capable of resolving a wide range of issues.
In the event that a call needs to be escalated further, a request for a call back can be submitted by a Customer Relations Supervisor and someone will get in touch with the caller at a time that is convenient for them.After reviewing Mr***’s account we discovered a charge back was issued against Intelius by his financial institution. On 4/13/2006, we were alerted to a charge back in the amount of $for a Complete Background Report. To prevent charge backs from occurring, we disallow purchases on accounts which we have received charge backs for. As a courtesy, we have restored Mr***’s account with the ability to complete purchases again.We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because: it is unreasonable for a business to say "we've resolved your problem for now" and then explain that that very same problem will be reinstated in an unknown period in the future The business has in effect blamed another system for its own behaviors If a business is unable to control it's websites content, even after a customer has very reasonably complied with all requests for personal identification, then that business should be held accountable These are very shady business practices and if a business is shady in one part of its dealings, it will often be shady in another I've worked with numerous company's to remove my information for my safety and they quickly complied with no trouble at all, the company is the giving me terrible trouble with the process and the only one telling me that they will reinstate my info Shame on them and those that write up their terms of service!Sincerely,*** ***

Intelius customers are presented with a two tier pricing structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius website. They have the option of paying the full price, or a discounted promotional price which includes a 7-Day Pass of the Intelius Premier Plus Membership. When a customer
selects the promotional price, they are presented the benefits of the membership and the terms and conditions of the offer, including billing. By choosing to proceed with the purchase at the promotional price, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions of the promotional offer.In this case, the promotional offer was accepted and the Intelius Premier Plus 7-Day Pass was activated. The Intelius Premier Plus 7-Day Pass provides reports which can include name, age, aliases, address history, phone numbers, email addresses, and relatives. When the Background Report search credit which was provided with the Intelius Premier Plus 7-Day Pass was consumed, the membership immediately charged the monthly cost for the membership. Before the search credit was consumed, Mr*** would have received a prompt confirming the use of the search credit and the charge which he would receiveThe Intelius Premier Plus Membership was canceled on 3/28/2016. The charge of $was refunded on 4/1/2016. This refund will appear on Mr***’s statement in one of the next two billing cycles, depending on the closing date. No future membership charges will occur.We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience
