The Website "Just Answer" The Website claims that for $5 they will look into my computer problem - as soon as I submit post $5 they change it to an additional $31. This is deceptive and I will be reporting it. it is a charlatan attempt to extort more money and I feel stupid for falling for it.

I'm sorry about the confusion regarding the deposit. I'll try to clarify how the site functions here. When posting a question to the site customers post a $5.00 initial deposit. The deposit has 2 functions, to determine whether the billing method is valid and to ensure the Expert that responds that the customer has an intention of paying for a helpful answer.
The remainder of the question value is not charged until you actually receive a response form an Expert, this was the $31.00 charge. The value of the question is presented to customers on the payment page prior to entering your billing information.
In looking at your account I can see the you used the Self Help page to process your own refunds the same day.

The service seemed very responsive until they took my payment information and I have not heard a word since. It has been 25 hours so far and I would like my money refunded as this site has totally misrepresented it's service.
We will see how long it takes for Just Answer to respond if they ever do.

Total scam, you spend ten minutes giving detailed answers to proforma questions and are then told you are being transferred to an expert but first you have to give your credit card details & are charge $5 deposit and then sit for THREE HOURS waiting for any response. Have informed my credit card Company to not accept any charges from these people. Don't waste your time.

Never use this site. They offer a 7 day free trial that costs $68. As far as I know, my question was never even answered.

This company just scammed me out of $63! Took and unauthorised $58 out of my debit card account apart from the initial 'refundable' $5. Despite NOT proceeding with the 'advice from technician' and clicking off the site $58 was taken out. Do NOT use them! Why are they still in business and not in gaol?

The $5.00 deposit is the fee for posting a question to the website and the remainder charged, in this case $58.00, was the remaining value for the question. This information is presented to all customers on the payment page before any billing information is even entered. The remaining charge isn't processed until you receive a response from an Expert.
