On March 27th we had sales rep come give us a quote for 5 replacement windows. the Sales Rep PROMISED over and over we would notice NO difference in the replacement windows with our current windows...we have salt box and their are 10 windows across the front of the house. The installers came to install the windows and they were yelling and fighting the whole time, f word flying around, it was a disaster of an install. All 10 of our windows on the front of the house are framed in cedar...they put the new windows up and framed the new ones in aluminum! Seriously, the sales rep kept say, you will notice NO difference, guess what...BIG DIFFERENCE especially changing the WHOLE look of the front of the house. After multiple calls to customer service, the manager (***) came out, he said yep, we will fix it, they came back and framed it with the SAME STUFF...so we have 4 in aluminum and the rest in Cedar...this altered the WHOLE LOOK OF OUR HOME! Now no answers to our calls, called sales rep, he said he would call back nothing. They offered to change them to cedar for $250 per window, THERE WAS CEDAR and I have to pay you to put what I had BACK? That is NOT a resolution, our house is CEDAR trim NOT aluminum crap! NO one is responding or helping forcing us to take legal action.

3/27 sale - rep ***
4/3 windows measured

6/11 window wrap removed and reinstalled by Brian
6/12 Tim offered to replace the cedar trim for $250/window (total of 4

Mad city will contact the client in the next 2 business days. So that we can arrange to have the windows wrapped in cedar and not in trim coil.

This complaint will be resolved once Mad City comes and COMPLETES the work they are promising. They have come before to do a "fix" and it was not a fix. This is open until they complete the fix.

Mad City is scheduled to complete this service on 9/3. To resolve any and all issues.

I had my tub replaced by this company on Feb 4th 2019. The 1st issue is I had to call because the sales rep didn't include my towel rack, and they were trying to make me pay for it, until I told them to stop the installation. I was originally ok with the product, until my family used it. It doesn't shine anything like the sales rep promised, it took 2 days longer then what they originally stated. Within 2 days of the installation the faucet wouldn't stop leaking and the faucet was away form the tub. I called, a tech came out and fixed it right away. The biggest problem I'm having with this product is by March of 2019, not even a month later all of the caulk around my tub started to yellow in color. I called and another rep came out to fix the problem. I was told they've had to do that to so many customer's within that last month because the caulk was bad. The rep caulked over the original caulk. For starters that caulk was not down correctly, it's much wider then the other caulk, it has dents in it, and it's much wider then the last caulk, you can see where the old caulk starts and the other caulk begins. Within a day, the new caulk started to yellow also. I've sent over the emails about this issue. I've also called and it still has just to be corrected. I LOOKS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. If I went into someones home and saw that, I would take a bath in that tub. This product cost me $8400. There is absolutely no reason why I paid that much and this product has had some sort of an issue from the very beginning. The yellowing is getting so bad that it is turning almost brown. This company uses facebook for advertisement and if you put anything in the comments about your experience that isn't good,or like my experience. They delete the comment because they have control over that page. What reputable company does want their customer's personal experience not to be expressed and the just correct it, instead of leading false impressions that they are perfect. I know multiple people that have had issues with either their product, the company not honoring what was promised, etc. This is so unacceptable and I'm totally dissatisfied with the product, the service, the false promise. I really hate that I allowed them to talk me out of going with bath fitters, with the false promises. WORDS CAN'T EXPRESS HOW UPSET AND DISGUSTED I AM!

Our service department will contact our client in the next 24 hours. To schedule a service to remove the existing caulk and re caulk the unit. We will also talk to about compensation once the service is complete.

The contract for our window purchase was signed 3/26/2019. Re-measure be the manufacturer was 4/4/2019. Mad City was then unresponsive for the next two months and it wasn't until early June that we were finally given an update (already outside the 8 weeks as outlined in the contract) and a date of 6/13/2019 for installation. This date was then cancelled on 6/12/2019 by Mad City with a new installation date of 6/20/2019. Prior to 6/20/2019, all blinds were taken down and furniture pulled away from windows. Numerous blinds were thrown away as we had intended on replacing them post windows being installed. Mad City came 6/20/2019 and began to lay tarps, remove trim work on family room windows and the large half moon in master was attempted to be removed and was cracked in the process. Then after a long period of measuring and re-measuring, the field manager was called to our house to tell me that "all of the windows were measured incorrectly and none are able to be installed." I was told that a new installation date would be within a couple weeks. The crew packed up but I had to ask them to leave the trim work they had removed, as they had already loaded it into their truck. It was left in our garage and then after a half hour, the crew returned and said they were instructed to put the trim back up since it left our studs exposed. Our upstairs master window that was left cracked and screws hanging out began leaking the next morning after raining that night. A new date for installation was finally made for 7/18/2019 but due to many frustrations as detailed above, we decided to cancel our installation and were told that we were still responsible to the cost of the windows according to the contract. No details on the price have been communicated in writing and the windows have not yet been delivered. Mad City has not been responsive to working out the details of this agreement therefore we have contacted a lawyer to review our contract.

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Jul 22, 2019

Mad city has been in contact with the client. We had a date set to install the correct windows. The client elected to no have the windows installed due to their house now being under contract to sell. Mad City gave the client a price to close our the contract and drop off the windows. We have a scheduled phone call conference with the client today at 1 pm. So that we can close out this account.

Middle of April 2019 we chose Mad City to do our Bath/Shower remodel. That included a single window. Everything for the remodel was measured out by T.F. our ***, as well as another Mad City employee a week later to confirm measurements. The order was put in and we got a call to set up a date for the remodel a few weeks later. Come remodel day (June 10th 2019) the window contractors were the first to arrive, soon followed by the bath remodel guy. About an hour or two after the window guys arrived they left without letting me know they were leaving or why. Later that day the bath remodel guy happened to mention the window ended up being the wrong size, he did not know that I wasn't aware and he was appalled when I mentioned that I had absolutely know clue that they had left let alone why. The bath remodel guy's *** happened to be here and let me know he would call their ***, he said that I should be getting a call that day as to why the window wouldn't be put in that day. 2 to 3 days pass until I received a call from the window *** "*". assured me the window would be put on a "rush order" and will be put in as soon as possible. 4 weeks pass by (this is about the same length of time it took for the shower/bath and original window order before setting up an installation appointment). I contacted T.F. to let him know that I have not received a call since "J" called 4 weeks ago, I also reminded him that we did not receive a promised $100 gift card for the inconvenience of having to change the design on our bath because T.F. forgot that what we originally wanted was not available for the size we had. I was told he would forward the message to production. 2 days after that I get a call to set up an appointment for the next week to finally get the window installed (which has been boarded up for 4 weeks because the window contractors removed the original window before leaving without saying a word.) The day before the installation appointment I get a call stating that we may need to reschedule or get a different guy to come in and do it later in the day than expected. I chose the option of getting a different guy to come later in the day. He was supposed to arrive between 11 and 12pm. 1:20pm rolls by and I finally received a call from "J" (who is supposed to be the one installing that day) that he is running an extra hour behind schedule. 2:30 passes and still no show and no call. I did receive a call around 4pm from who I assume was the lady who set up the appointment but when I answered there was no response. No call back after hanging up either. 2 days later I had a missed call from "J" and a voicemail stating that apparently somebody who bought the original (wrong size) window also picked up our new "rush order" window, and that is why he did not show up on July 16th 2019 (our date for installation) He said to call or text him back to set up a day to get the new window installed. I texted him back requesting a refund and demanding the window be installed today. I have not received any word back from him via text or call. This is what we have been dealing with for over a month. We were promised completion in a reasonable amount of time and have not received that, nor has anyone kept us informed on what is going on.

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Jul 19, 2019

Customers window was accidently miss measured at the time the measure tech took the measurements. We ordered a new window which was placed in our service area. When the area was cleaned out the new window was accidently placed in the wrong location. unknowingly the window was taken and did not realize it until the day of the install. We searched the warehouse not knowing that it was a pure accident that someone took the window. We have been trying to call the customer multiple times a day to re schedule the install as we had the window brought back to us. The customer has not returned any of those calls. As soon as we can get in touch with the customer we will install the window at her convenience. There will be no refund given as we have been trying to get this resolved with the customer.

[I have not received calls besides what I have mentioned in my complaint (I am willing to provide phone records) especially not "multiple times a day". I have texted "J" as well as T.F. and still have not received a response from either. I did finally just get a call from what I assume is their office lady to get the window in today. She claims they have been leaving voicemails and that when I answered her phone call the other day (the one where there was no response on her end) that she heard a baby crying but did not hear me, neither of my children were crying and I did in fact answer and waited after three "Hello?"s before hanging up. No calls until 2 days later which was from "J" which I did miss and he left a voicemail stating I can call or text him back at my convenience to get the window installed and why he didn't show up on July 16th. I did text him back and to this day I still have not received a response from him. .]

We did have a miss order on this job as to where the ordering person who enters the measurement's accidently flipped the numbers when placing the order. We have since installed the new window and addressed any issues the customer may have had at that time. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to the customer and have since talked to the installer to better inform customers if any future issues ever come up.

The sales pitch: Mad City doesn't hire sub-contractors, in which they do! They do not do things by the book, the right way. No permit was pulled with the city. No liscensed Master Plumber scheduled to do the job, Your Master Plumber came out two days in a row to fix a leak and didn't look over or test anything (thinking a Master Plumber would). Bathroom floor was damaged, along with the drywall ceiling in the basement (ceilings been fixed, floor yet to be scheduled). I gave Mad City the option for a full refund and to go our separate ways, they declined standing behind the Right to Cure Act. Second install happened in Feb. Wall surround wasn't cut right, popping the glue joint. Wall surround being installed a 3rd time .

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Jul 22, 2019

We have been in contact with *** and *** and it is very important to us that we continue to follow through on the service from the install. We were on site as late as 7/19 to finish reinstalling the walls and shelves from the previous install. A discount of the contract had been issued previously and our focus right now is to get the service work completed. The next step in the process to fulfill our agreement with the ***'s is to install a new floor in the bathroom. We are in the process of lining up a date for them to pick out a floor and we do have an installer lined up to do the work involved.

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Aug 15, 2019

Mad city will have a letter drafted outlining the discount given and requirements on the customer's end and Mad City's end that accompany a discount being given. Mad City will inform *** that contact needs to be made with the customer to set up an inspection of the repairs requested. Mad City does not agree to cover the repairs being made under our Double Lifetime Warranty.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find the monetary resolution somewhat satisfactory. Thank you for sending a letter stating you're sending a check. I'm anticipating a call from *** on the remaining repairs. I understand that Mad City doesn't "agree" to honor the original contract which warranties EVERYTHING, hopefully we won't need to go there.

Disappointed we chose Mad City to remove our old tub/shower and replace with a new shower. We were told it would be a one day job. The job started May 15 (more than 60 days ago) and is still not finished. Still waiting for installer to return to caulk shower exterior, install bench seat, safety grab bar, and shelf. Installer said he would be back in a few days to finish up the job, now its two months and counting with an unfinished job. I called Mad City office a few week ago and was told they will contact me soon to schedule a time to finish the job. Still have not heard a word. We also have discovered the glass shower door is not level and will roll open after closing.

I have some scratches on my main window they informed me that they are not a defect when prior to being put in will not fix them.

I was misinformed when the sales person came out I do have a lifetime warranty on these windows and they will not cover them what is the point of having a lifetime warranty if they don't cover it.

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Jul 16, 2019

Customer called in stating there was scratches in the glass. These windows were installed over 2 years ago, when asked how the scratched got there the customer could not answer how they got there. The customer feels that she can break the windows and that would be covered under warranty. This is not the case we tried explaining to her that any manufacture defect or issue with the windows due to installation are covered under our life time warranty, not home owner damage. We do have a service set up for today to inspect and repair on site if possible the double hung window they also told us about which they are saying it is hard to open. Along with that inspection we are going to inspect the scratches to make sure they are not in between the glass pieces which at that point would be a manufacture defect since there is no way possible to accidently scratch that part of the glass after the install.

My husband and I have been blown away by the unprofessionalism of the administration and management of Mad City. In addition to needing to come back to our house several times to correct mistakes, when we called to voice our concerns and our opinions, we were treated with passive aggressiveness, excuses, and eventually threats.
Some of the mistakes of the installers included damage to the wooden frame around our window, when they hit the frame with a hammer. They then tried to repair it with superglue, and did not mention it to us. They did not admit what happened until we confronted them about it. They then ordered the wrong window and latch, when they were issues with a gap between the sliding window and the larger window, and the latch not working correctly. Each time the installers needed to come just make a repair, they were at least an hour late from the time that they said they would be here.
When calling to say that we were displeased with the performance of the company, the managers would just blame the manufacturers. They never take responsibility for their company, and did not seem to have pride in their products.
Since we were so dissatisfied with our interactions with Mad City management, my husband made a post on his personal Facebook account voicing his opinion of mad city, as well as some factual events that occurred during their service to us. A man that claimed to be the top manager of Mad City then called my husband several times, sometimes swearing at him, and threatening to sue us. I listened to a phone call that occurred, and I can honestly say that my husband was calm and collected when voicing his concerns. The phone wasn’t even on speaker, but I heard the man yelling at my husband. The day after this phone call, my husband was called by a different employee. This person claimed that the manager who was yelling at and swearing at my husband that my husband was being unprofessional and rude to the top manager, so that they were retracting a gift card that they promised to give us after all the frustration we experience with them.
A company making mistakes is understandable and forgivable, but what is not acceptable is the condescending and unprofessional nature that management speaks to their customers with. Being accountable for their own actions and the products they install would help this company appear more professional and improve in their business.

We needed new windows, so we called Mad City. The sales guy that came to our home was so informative we signed up. The intial install was a disaster. The crew left a mess and so many errors. Management at Mad City took this matter seriously and worked with us to make it right and clean up the installer errors. Biggest issue was with the patio door. However, months later the field manager has been back to our home a number of times now for corrections. Each time he comes he is unable to complete his visit as there is always parts missing or the wrong parts ordered. We have had missed appointments and now waiting another 4-6 weeks for the next issue to be corrected as parts were nevered ordered as promised. Each time they visit a new issue appears. This last time we tried reaching out to resolve the new issues and no one has contacted us back. We have a lifetime warranty so we are 100% covered. We paid a lot to have new windows all we ask is the company do their job to the 100% the first time to avoid frustrates and many trips back and forth. New windows are very expensive, we are allowed to nit pick, especially when dealing with this type of service. We are left with no choice, but to nit pick.
We just want things corrected 100%, messes cleaned up when they are done and to move on.

We have had nothing but problems with Mad City Windows. When we first spoke with someone they promised us a $50 gift card for dinner just for having them come to our house to provide an estimate on our windows. We only received a $25 gift card. During the estimate we were told about these amazing pivoting sliders for easy cleaning. We were also assured that any rotting wood around the windows that would be discovered during the installation would be replaced and that the crew would be extremely professional (no smoking on the job, no foul language, etc). While the quote was extremely high for what we wanted, we decided to go with Mad City Windows as we wanted a reliable company and had to have these amazing windows. The following week someone was sent out to measure and order the windows. We were again assured that any rotting wood would be replaced.

On Friday, April 5th, a crew of 5 young men came out to install the windows. Again, we were assured that any rotting wood would be replaced. Shortly after them arriving it was discovered that one of the windows was the incorrect size. I was told someone would then come out and speak to me about the issue that afternoon (no one arrived and no one called). The crew then proceeded to install the remaining windows. After the first window was installed, I discovered that the window was NOT what the sales rep told me it would be. These windows did not pivot, which was the main reason I was willing to pay such an outrageous amount on the windows. I was told that Mad City Windows does not sell such windows. Also, during the installation, I discovered smoking on the job after we had been assured this wouldn't happen.

During the installation I discovered rotting wood on both of the basement windows that were being replaced. At this point the windows had already been replaced and they were working on the wrap surrounding the windows. When I questioned it they assured me that it was fine. I brought up that I was told that any rotting wood would be replaced and the guy kept reiterating that the wood didn't need replacing. Since I did not agree with this statement, I grabbed my camera and took pictures to take back to Mad City Windows.

Once they completed the window installation (8 of 9 windows), I was approached to sign off on the project. I was taken aback as the project was not completed. I questioned the paperwork and was assured that the work ticket overrode the project completion form. I immediately became worried and suddenly felt unsafe in my home as I felt the crew had now lied to me at least twice and already shown signs of being unreliable/unprofessional. I was shaking horribly at this point and decided that there was a chance that not signing the form may result in endangering myself so I signed it and made a note to the one window not being installed. I was afraid any other confrontation could potentially put me in harms way.

The following week, I contacted our sales rep and notified him of the issues we encountered. He was dumbfounded that the windows didn't pivot and he was not pleased about the rotting wood that was on the window. I was told that he had escalated the issue to the VP of the company and that we were now in good hands. After several days we did not hear from Mad City Windows, so I reached out to the sales rep again to get the contact information of the VP, but my requests went unanswered.

At some point we ended up in touch with the production department. I had again addressed my concerns about our experience with Mad City Windows. The woman on the phone practically laughed at me for even thinking that sliding windows could pivot. Eventually she decided my concerns needed to be addressed by the ***. My boyfriend and I have been in touch with the *** several times since. I was told the wrong sized window that was ordered was his biggest concern and he could do a max of $500 credit for this trouble. As for the incorrect information from the performance of the window he would talk to the sales rep but he couldn't do anything for us regarding this. And as for the rotting wood, he couldn't do anything either as it would involve them cutting the concrete around the windows in order to replace it as the wood is actually in the concrete.

I attempted to email the VP of the company (the one that I was told had been informed of my issues and was now in good hands with), who only pushed me back off on to the Production Manager. We have spoken with the *** several times who is unwilling to do anything else for us. We have since reached out to two other contractors who both confirmed the statement about cutting the concrete around the basement windows was false. They both stated this was actually a very simple replacement and the wood is not IN the concrete.

Just an update. We have tried reaching out to Mad City Windows with alternative suggestions to resolve this issue and schedule completion of the job, but we're told the guy we are working with is out through today. We have not heard anything else from them. I will keep you posted as soon as I hear anything. Thank you

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Jun 27, 2019

We have been in contact with *** and Tricia regarding their concerns. When I talked to *** last he was going to be sending me quotes from contractors that would come and do the work to replace the rotten wood. He has since sent me some of the quotes. Him and I have emailed back and forth as late as this week and he is working on getting that last quote. I have responded to his email in his response to setup a date and time regarding the quotes and what we were going to do to move forward. I have asked that we have this conversation on Friday July 28th. If that doesn't work we can do Monday the 1st. We look forward to working with Job and Tricia to come to a solution.

In January they installed 9 windows in my house and the windows had defects in every one of them. The installation was poorly done and the bay window did not fit and they added a 3/4" piece of lumber to make it meet the drywall. They caused damage to my siding on several windows and left. I have had them back 3 or 4 times to fix all of the defects and poor workmanship and it is still not done. The only way I have been able to get any action is to contact the owner and the following day I received a call from them to setup a day to come "fix" it. It is over 4 months and they have still not fixed all the issues, They were scheduled to be here today and only 2 of the workers showed up n the morning. Now I'm waiting for the 3rd guy who should have been here at the same time to show up if he does. Their windows are poorly made, some of their installation crews do poor work and their customer service is just as bad. I will never recommend this firm to anyone.

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • May 24, 2019

Mad City did install 9 windows in January we were unaware that there was manufacture defects in the frames unit they were installed. Mad City agreed that we would replace all of the frames. The bay window was installed with a buck frame so we could properly attach it to the brick exterior the customer was not satisfied with this after it was installed so we came back to re set the window with new trim to try and make the customer satisfied. The field manager was scheduled to be on site but unfortunately was held up at another job site that required his expertise due to rotten structure. We are calling this customer today to install the siding and stained trim that was damaged during the winter months. Mad City windows apologizes for any and all inconvenience's this has caused and are working with the customer to resolve his complains. A manager will call the customer to discuss a discount with him to compensate him for his frustrations.

Mad City Windows & Baths Response • Jun 25, 2019

Customer rejected the discount with a standard release letter. No further discount will be offered. If the customer has any further complaints of anything he wants repaired he hasn't contacted us about this. I will have my service department reach out to him to see if there is anything more he would like addressed.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The offer Mad City made included a requirement that I sign away all of my rights to file any complaints or take any legal action in the future. The quality of windows that were originally installed had very noticeable defects of poorly made seams. The workmanship of the installers was also very poor. They created damage to my cedar siding by not cutting through caulking so large chunks were torn away and around a couple windows they damaged siding from the Sawzall they used. They also incorrectly installed the bay window and simply added a 1/2" piece of trim around the window which looked like a patch job. After 5 extremely frustrating months, complaints to the local Mad City as well as the "owner" as described on TV, and filing a complaint with the Revdex.com I finally have them complete.

With the quality of the original windows and workmanship I am not willing to sign away my rights to be able to file additional complaints or take legal action if I have future issues with these, what I now believe are over priced windows, and receive the same level of quality and service as I have for the past 5 months. I cannot and will never recommend Mad City Windows to any one .

Our sales representative was fantastic! He was knowledgeable and patient about answering all our questions. A bonus was that he was understanding about being interrupted by our four little kids running around. He was even interacting with them during our meeting. He stayed much later than our scheduled time to make sure we had all the information we needed. After we signed a contract there was a misunderstanding with the financing company, but our same rep made time to come back and fix it personally. The company communicated every step of the way. The installers were punctual and thorough, even with the cleanup. We are very satisfied with our windows and have not had any problems yet. However, one of the reasons we chose Mad City Windows was because of their quality guarantee and warranty. The only “problem” we’ve experienced so far was having someone follow up to sign the final warrenty after the installation was completed. We were told someone would contact us to set up a time to finish that last little piece, but are still waiting to hear back. Otherwise, our experience with this company was easy and hassle free. Thank you!

I went with Mad City after seeing mostly positive reviews, but Murphy's Law was in full effect. It started with some high pressure sales tactics. Then there was a couple of installation delays due to cancellations with little to no notice (apparently they have trouble keeping installers there, and our eventual installers came to Green Bay from Antigo). One window frame was damaged from the manufacturer, resulting in another install day when it came in. The glass of another window cracked within a few hours of the install. When that replacement came in, we found out the service department ordered the wrong sash, despite me being clear on which window it was for. From start to finish, it took 4 months to get just three windows installed and fully functional. At one point I was about to cancel the entire contact unless they made some steep concessions, which they thankfully did without question. Now that the work is done, the windows are decent enough. I wasn't looking for high end replacements, but definitely not worth the hassle even with the additional discounts we were given. I get it, stuff happens and a delay is sometimes inevitable. When it happens time and time again, there's something inherently wrong with the entire process.

Windows on the South and West side of the house are leaking air and have condensation in the corners. The huge picture window is also leaking and is installed crooked. Right side of this same window has a piece broke off that the window doesn't stay open.

I've worked with Mad City Windows twice now. The first time I worked with them was 2 months after I bought my first home. I had to have a large bay window replaced, since the seals were cracked. Come to find out it was the original to my home, which was built in 1931. My wonderful new window has saved me a lot in heating and provided me with a much nicer view. Plus it's now a functional window, which is great to let the breeze through my living room. Can't wait for my next project! I'd definitely recommend them to anyone!!

A little on the spendy side but definitely worth every penny. The sales person was friendly and knowledgeable and not pushy with the sale. I explained what I was looking for and he set me up. From the time I wrote the check to getting my window installed was a few weeks because of the vendor but once they got my window in I was scheduled and installed the next day. I would definitely recommend!!!

We had a new walk in sower put in. It was exactly what we ordered. They keep checking with us to make sure we all agreed. It looks great and when people come to visit everyone gets a tour. Love my new shower

Great new windows. I have already seen difference in the amount of time the furnace kicks in! Enjoyed working with the entire team that dealt with our project, from the salesman, to the contact person, and certainly the installing team - they were all courteous, but the installers did a great job and cleaned up after the job was done.
