Noom

I used noom for a 5month program period that I signed up for. After the five months ended I thought my program was over. I saw where functionality in the App had been reduced and I assumed this was due to my membership ending. I found out I was charged another $129 for another 5 moth program that I never opted into and was never given a payment reminder or any communication from Noom saying I was about to renew. I never received a bill or invioce either. When I contacted them to tell them my "coach" wasn't communicating with me And that I couldn't use all the functionality I was apparently paying $129 for they told me it was "supposed" to be that way so I learn to stand on my own 2 feet, basically. I do not consider paying for something I'm not getting and shady billing practices to be in my best interest. Customer service was rude and short at best and offered no real solution help or apology. I filled out a survey about my experience and they never contacted me from that to help resolve the issue either.

I got sucked into their website for a free evaluation which led to me entering a credit card number. it said for a 14 day free trail. I canceled within 1 minute and was charged a non-refundable fee.

There are 4 components to the NOOM plan. I will review each. I have been on the NOOM plan for approximately 2 months and have developed opinions on each aspect
First there is the app that allows you to log your food and see if it is a red, yellow or green food.I really like the app. I would give this 5 stars. Really, it's just a recap of the basic food groups of years ago. I like it because it helps you balance your food choices. Too bad you can't just choose this for about $5 a month.
Second is the personal coach. This is the person who guides your journey. Mhhhhh. Mine tried to do her job but it was obvious that she had set questions and that she was following a rubric of questions to "motivate". I would give this 3 stars because eventually she would answer my questions. Being a 67 year old retired person it would be nice if they assigned "coaches" to specific demographics.
Third is the group and group coach. I would give this one star, I'm not really a chat with strangers kind of person, but I did try to post a few times. No one commented on my posts. I found the posts either boastful or needy. Neither is any help in my weight journey.
Fourth is the motivational and informational articles and quizzes that are in the app. I would give this part 2 stars. There is interesting information, but it really turned into a psycho self help bunch of crap the longer that I kept up. Not everyone is self loathing in their weight journey. I like myself just fine, regardless of my weight. I must say the day it told me to be assertive (I am assertive and don't need an app to guide me) I decided to cancel my membership. I was a little too assertive with my "coach" and hurt her feelings. Perhaps she needs the self help offered?
I was loosing a pound a week (approximately) then boom! I'm up 4 pounds? I didn't even eat a whole pizza or a carton of ice cream. I know the ups and downs of weight loss, but if we are taking it really slow a big weight gain while still following the plan is not terribly motivational. I can pay myself for those results. I guess that averages out to more like 2 and a half stars. Anyway, this does have its merit but I thought individuals might want to know the big picture before buying in.

Noom drducted $149 FROM MY ACCOUNT AFTER . UNSUCCESSFUL.TRIAL.RUN. O TRIED TO CANCEL BY DOWNLOADING THE COACH APP AND NEVER SAW THE BUBBLE TO REQUEST CANCELATION. THE GOAL WITH THIS COMPANY IS TO FRUSTRATE THE CONSUMER WITH THE CANCELLATION PROCESS TO FURTHER TAKE OUR MONEY. THIS IS A SCAM. IT SHOULD NOT BE THIS COMPLICATED CANCELLING AN UNWANTED SERVICE. YOU CALL THEIR 800 NUMBER AND THEY DIRECT YOU TO THE APP AND THE WEBSITE BOTH NOT USEFUL. PLEASENHELP ME TO CANCEL MY SUBCRIPTION AND GET MY MONEY BACK...THANK YOU.

Such a scam company! They sell you these add on services when you sign up for your free trial that are complete BS. In my case it was the custom workout plan and the weight loss DNA kit. I got a mass-generated workout plan in return that is nowhere near a custom workout plan worth money. And it’s been a while since I signed up and no word (or package in the mail) received regarding the weight loss kit.
Don’t get lured by all the psychological advice. You can find both similar workout plans and advice easily on google elsewhere and don’t need to fall prey to this scam. I’m currently trying to get my money back on these add on services. If they refuse I’m taking further legal action

I was tricked into paying almost $200 for subscribing to the "free trial," which I thought would end after a week. They lied and said they needed a $1 donation to offset the costs of the free trial, this was a lie, they wanted my financial info so they could charge me without me realizing it! I need a refund, this is a horribly deceptive business model and shameful.

The end of free trial notification links to cancel resulted in no connection to company. There were no and/or late responses to emails requesting cancellation and refunds. Charged for 4 months straight up and only a vague responses regarding any general issues with a non working link provided.

I signed up for a trial period with the app “Noom”. I was charged $1 for a 14 day trial period. After that trial period was up I was unknowingly automatically charged $99! I never received an email or any info letting me know that my “plan” would be renewed before this charge. I do not even use their service, I quit before my trial period was up. I deleted the app on my phone thinking that would delete my noom account. However I found from my credit card statement that it did not. I immediately went onto the site to investigate what was happening. I tried speaking with a representative but it was an automated response. I did at this time officially cancel my “subscription” that I didn’t even know that I had with them. I was never explained or told about a $99 fee for this so called program. I have already submitted a fraudulent charge to my credit card company over this. This app is extremely misleading. If they truly were not trying to trick someone into a $99 fee then I would have received a warning or a bill before this $99 charge was put onto my credit card. I do many auto pay options for bills and websites so I am familiar with how these work. However with each company that I have monthly recurring payments I always receive notice with either a bill or statement. I have received absolutely no emails regarding this account or any type of payment.

I love Noom. I didn't really know what to expect, but what I received was a life-changing health plan that taught me how to re-think my food choices, how to fit exercise back into my life and keep me on the straight and narrow path with coaches and other Noomer's in my group to discuss anything and everything we were going through and/or feeling at the time. I have never felt more healthy in my life. The Psychtips I received will follow me through life. One of the best things I've done in a long, long time. I've saved all articles so if I ever feel like I'm starting to slip, I can go right back to the articles and re-read them as many times as I wish. I would definitely recommend Noom to anyone who is contemplating a healthy life-change. Not only will you lose weight, but the insight you will get to keep it off and feel better, is amazing.

Noom has some helpful features, but when I wanted to discuss cancelling, I discovered there is no customer service. The number listed (which was hard to find) leads to just a recording. Literally no one to talk to.

I have been charged for a membership I do not want. It is impossible to contact noom by phone, email or on line for either services or complaint. My credit card has issued me a tentative credit and is awaiting a response from noom.

Looks like I'm one of many, but I signed up for a free trial, can't get the app to run on my phone, and can't stop the service without doing so through the app on my phone. I tried to get my bank to shut it down, but Noom didn't set the payments up as a recurring transaction, so the bank can't just cancel the recurring transaction. I want them not to be able to charge me $99 plus tax any time they wish for the rest of my life, but I don't know how to make it stop.

I was very disappointed to discover the "coach" was a bot augmented with someone of the caliber of an offshore call center. Even worse, the bot coach disappeared after one day's worth of interaction and only showed up the day before they wallop you with hundreds of dollars in charges, apparently trying to drag you across their profit finish line.
They bury cancellation information and make it extremely difficult to do so before you get whacked with their lump sum fees. I fortunately cancelled in time but will definitely be watching my credit card records as I wouldn't be surprised if this company full of fakery and deception doesn't comply with its cancellation obligations.
Avoid this scam. They're a *** app masquerading as a diet program.

I tried a free trial on Noom and received no correspondence that I would be charged $159 for 6 montha of the service. They refused to issue a refund after I expressed confusion abour this and indicated I hadn't been told any of this information upfront. They have no customer support number and don't provide cancellation information when signing up for the trial.

I was checking my PayPal account and found a charge for $149, which turns out to be a full-year subscription. From what I understood (based on what I read) when I downloaded the app for the free trial, the program was a monthly subscription. Needless to say, I was shocked and upset when I saw the charge. I would never have even considered the free trial (which I never even used) had I known this. Their website says that charges aren't refunded. I feel like this is a complete scam, and this company is engaging in very shady business practices. Please help me obtain my refund

Computer generated feedback system is your "coach". I was paying money to weigh and track my foods daily. I can do that on my own. I was looking for the coaching which didn't materialize. So disappointing.

I did a two week trial with Noom and tried to cancel my account before the two week period ended so that I would not be charged the full 6 month membership. I was unable to locate the whereabouts of the process to cancel on my own and had to go through a coach to request a link which once provided did not work. The coach did tell me that it may take the customer service agents several days to get back to me to help me resolve my issue. Once I did connect with customer service I was told I would not receive a refund because I did not cancel my renewal before the end of the 2 week trial.

I cancelled this subscription and they charged me a renewal charge.
