Pier 1 Imports Reviews (%countItem)

I had recently gone to the Pier 1 in Schereville, IN to spend my gift card. Like all the other complaints I am reading, I too wasted a trip to a store that is still open to be told I could no longer use my gift card. I had never seen a notice of the last day to use it and they certainly have my email as well as my cell phone number to text me everything else. I was basically told my gift card balance would be going toward paying their bankruptcy debt. The back of the card clearly states there is NO expiration date. So it makes no sense to me, while the store is still open and operating, as well as online shopping you are NOT allowed to use your gift card. Like everyone else during this pandemic, money is scarce, and to throw it away, really salts the wound. Since so many of us have been wronged, I see a class action suit coming, HOPEFULLY SOON. (Apparently Covid is to blame for their Bankruptcy?)

I have a giftcard to Pier 1 that I have not used as stores were closed for many weeks due to COVID-19. I recently went to a store nearby that is still operating under the Pier 1 name but there refused to accept the gift card. Although some items are still available to be bought online, the gift card cannot be use there either.

We received over $150 in gift cards for our wedding in December 2019. The pandemic hit in March of 2020 and we've been avoiding our usual spending habits to social distance. After filing for bankruptcy, the new ownership of Pier1 is not redeeming or even partially redeeming this money, nor are they offering a way to file a claim for the value of these cards. Bankruptcy rules or no, this is a poor decision from Pier1s new management and has ensured that I never patronize their stores ever again.

I have a gift card for Pier One and was told today that I was just out of luck because I could not use my gift card. I find it hard to believe that my fifth card is not being excepted because it has already been paid for by the person that gifted it too me. I believe that as long as the store is open theh should be accepting their own gift cards!

A gift card was purchased for this company prior to notice being sent of bankruptcy/insolvency. That information wasn’t known or divulged at that time. The stores closed in short order and online order was not available. COVID and store closures happened and the gift card could not be used due to all of the circumstances noted above. Upon attempting to contact the company via all avenues, their phone numbers did not work, and their online contact form also did not work. This company has no intention of assisting in any circumstances and has operated under poor business practices. I’ve received notification their online stores are reopening under new ownership and nothing will be accepted from prior purchase. The company knew there would be little to no opportunity to use these gift cards.

We currently have $300 in Pier 1 gift cards that we received for our wedding. We are now aware that Pier 1 is no longer honoring gift cards, but the store is still open in our town (Norwood, MA). It is unethical for the business to use the same name if they are not honoring the financial obligations they were responsible for before changing to an online only store. We went to the Pier 1 in Norwood, MA and the employee refused to honor the gift card for a purchase or give us cash for the value. $300 is a lot of money and since the business is still around, they should NOT be able to stop accepting gift cards that they sold.

I have over $400 in gift cards with Pier 1 that I needed to use. I went to the store to use them as they are closing their stores and was not able to use them. Gift cards do not expire in the State of California. They should have allowed to be used online or other means or sent out updates on deadlines to use them as a regular customer. I feel this is a scam that they had our loyalty as a customer and now they could not care if their name is tainted. Very sad business model to NOT TAKE CARE Of CUSTOMERS. Someone should start a Class Action Lawsuit.

I have a Pier One gift card that I was just informed I could not use. This was very disappointing since I could not shop due to strict rules on shopping only for necessitees, due to covid-19. I if there is a way for me to receive a transfer of funds to the new owner of Pier One or credit on aComenity credit card , that would be helpful. I appreciate any help on this matter. Thank you

I have a merchandise credit from Pier 1 Imports, My friend told me that they have a new management now and I went online to check if I can quickly order something so I don't loose the money on it only to realize that their management was changed few months ago and I didn't go out because of this COVID and now the new management doesn't honor the merchandise credit issued before July 2020 and that those cards have no value. This is a theft and they simply stole my money.

Pier 1 Imports Response • Sep 10, 2020

We have reached out to the customer and explained our process that we are having to follow, after filing for Chapter 11.

Gift card received for Christmas 2019, COVID March 2020, Phase 3 in my state now and went to use gift card. They would not accept it and said it is worthless. How do I get credit for my card?

I found Pier 1 gift cards and I thought just in time since they're closing. I took them to the store to find out how much was remaining on them and to spend them, only to be told they are not taking them. Gift cards are supposed to be like cash! So I said so I'm just supposed to "eat it?" and the cashier said yes. There wasn't much to choose from but I would have spent my balance (that they've already been paid). Not acceptable way to handle the situation.

I was given 2 gift cards from Pier One in the amount of $75 as gifts prior to Covid related shut downs. I was recently saw a poster near the store location in Tonawanda, NY, that indicated that the store would be going out of buisness and closing in a few short weeks. I went to the store to shop and redeem my gift cards and was told that they would not honor the gift cards. I was advised by the store associate to contact customer service. I reached out to customer service in fort worth TX and was told that they would not honor the gift cards. This reflects fraud since this corporation was given funds for products and are refusing to honor. I would like to redeem my gift cards for merchandise or to have them refunded.

I received a Gift Card at Christmas 2019. I didn't need anything right away so I didn't make a purchase. Then Covid19 hit NJ in March 2020. I didn't go out of the house to shop. Only for food. I am 62 and am not going to take any unnecessary risks and my husband is 67. When I did finally go to the Pier 1 store in Riverdale NJ I was told that gift cards were not being honored. I told the worker that a gift card was like cash. I was told there's nothing they could do. The next day I called Customer Service. The message said there was no customer service available. The other day I received an email that Pier 1 was back with new ownership. I then went on their new web site and they stated any gift cards purchased before 09/01/20 were no good. This is theft.

I have a Gift card that I went online to see what my balance was only to find out the store was changing hands and that gift cards were no longer being accepted. Not cool! I believe I have close to $100 on this gift card and it was a gift so....really not cool! I really hope if anything I can just get my money back so I can take my business elsewhere.

I have a merchandise credit from Pier 1 with a value of $40.77. The credit has no expiration date but the store is refusing to accept it and is saying it has no value cause they are bankrupt. But they are still selling goods in their stores with payment and they just launched a new online website. So why would they not accept a credit they have issued themselves? Very shady and looks like theft.

I have a merchandise credit from Pier 1 Imports that I tried to use in store and they told me they were no longer accepting them because of the store closures. This is bad business practice and they essentially just stole my money. How can they do this?

I have a $60. Merchandise Credit from Pier 1 Imports that they will not honor.
Due to Covid-19 and my high risk I went to the Store on 8/18/2020 and I was told
that they are closing and I couldn't use it..

Was given a Pier1 gift card in the amount of $100. Stores are closing and the website says they are now deemed to have no value.

I have a 100 dollar gift card that I was told is valueless now. The store offered no answers to this problem. Their was never any notifications about not being able to use gift cards.

Bought it on Jun 23, 2020, got "sent to the in-home delivery carrier" email from pier 1 on July 6, 2020, on pier 1 official website said it will take 21 days to deliver, I waited until Aug 1, 2020, after Aug 1 I made phone call, they said everything will deliver before end of Aug. Today still got nothing either from pier 1 or in-home delivery carrier, I am tired of waiting, already give pier 1 import 2 months to solve this problem.
