I placed an order with Pier 1.com on 6/14/2020 (Order #***) for furniture; my credit card was charged $1939.92. On 6/19/2020, I received email notification that my items left the Pier 1 warehouse and that it may take 5-7 business days to arrive at the Ryder Last Mile Hub. It has now been 43 days, and there has been no updates or communication. I used Ryder.com/track to track my order but appears they have not received my order. I have tried to reach customer service at Pier 1 several times but it is unavailable.

I am rejecting this response because:

On 8/3/2020 Pier 1 contacted me via email regarding this complaint and they stated they would cancel my order and issue me a refund. It is now five days later, 8/8/2020, and the order has not been cancelled and I have not received a refund. I included attachments for your reference.

Greetings,Ryder cannot request for
cancellation until the order has been received at their facilities. We are still waiting for an update from Ryder. Thank you,Pier 1 Imports

I tried to use my gift card. The lady said none of their stores were accepting gift cards.

I placed an order online for a coffee table on 06/19/20. 10 days later I get an email saying there is going to be a 21 day delay in delivery. It is now well over a month and I have not received the item or any additional update regarding the same.

Greetings,We have reached out to the
customer and monitoring for any response. Thank you,Pier 1 Imports

pier1 physical store is refusing to accept gift cards within the first 30 days of opening at their transit road location in East Amherst, NY. The website clearly states that gift cards and store merchandise credit will be accepted in store for the first 30 each store opens.

I learnt about Pier 1 closing so checked how I can use the merchandise credit I have. The chat associate told me I could use it in store after they open for 30 days. But two stores near my house closed and never reopened, though the associate store told me both are open noon to 8:00 p.m. Geary store in San Francisco was closed at 1:00 p.m. when I got there and today Colma store location has Halloween Spirit business running there. This is ridiculous! The company closes without proper notification to customers and their website and associates give misleading information.

I am rejecting this response because:

It is simply bad business practice (i) not to give reasonable notification to customers to use their store credit, (ii) shut down stores without any notification to customers and (iii) not working with customers so they are able to use money spent on gift cards especially when times are tough.

Furthermore to give misleading information that certain stores are open when they are actually closed is not becoming of company representatives. They should be courteous to look into facts and not misguide customers to go down to closed stores.

We have communicated the change in our gift card policies.

Bought my wife a gift card for her birthday. She goes to use is and they say we don’t accept these anymore we are closing. The only place I found this was under faq on there sight now. Are you kidding me I should have been noticed or even signs in the store. Midland Michigan store. No wonder they are going out of business. This is in ethical. I paid for the card and they keep the money. Someone needs to contact me and make this right. It was a $50 gift card!

As a Senior, I had been unable to get to Pier 1 before this time due to health issues. I have $388.17 credit. I need to know how to proceed. Please help - thank you!

I am rejecting this response because:

It was and continues to be completely unfair of Pier 1 not to accept their Merchandise Credit at their stores while they're still open. I'm not surprised such an illegal operation is going under. Unfortunately, they're stealing other people's money on the way out. Shame on CEO *** and fellow Pier one cronies!

We are assisting our customer.

Today 7-20-2020 I went to pier one to purchase items and of course use my $150.00 gift card I received for my Birthday, and wasn't able to use the card. However on the website it states in a HUGE banner, "TODAY 7-25 is the last day for all online" orders, so I decided there must a mistake and called a local store only to be informed (Dan) that the company filed bankruptcy, and the card now had zero value. One would think Pier 1 would have contacted their loyal customer (my disabled/deaf mother) with the bankruptcy news, but instead they are acting in this dishonorable behavior, by taking hard earned money in this struggling economic pandemic we are facing. Already contacted HQ to only hear a voicemail, tried to email but that seems to be shut down as well. This is UNACCEPTABLE, and I want reimbursed ASAP, NO EXCEPTIONS! A CRIME of theft have been committed and they must be held accountable, no if and or about!

I had a previous complaint and did not respond in time, I was waiting for items to arrive, but they have not. As of this moment I have received the feet for our outdoor furniture (you guys sent black , instead of brown, but they work)

The complaint: We have not received the chair or bar that the chair hangs on for our Swingasan. You guys have delivered the base twice. I now have 2 bases and no bar that goes into the base or the actual swing still. Item *** and Item 4151863 still not received, ordered June 4!

Previous complaint: ***

Order *** partially delivered 6/15/2020, SKU *** Swingasan was missing completely, SKUs 0***A mocha stand and *** mocha stand were both unpackaged and severely scratched up, so I refused them on delivery. Also, SKU *** was missing the plastic foot piece. So the sectional doesn't sit flat and the metal leg is on the bricks. I've attempted to contact Pier 1 multiple times today through phone and chat. Neither are working.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Pier 1 is NOT allowing customers to use store credit!!!! I have $129.78 in merchandise credit that the store will not honor. This is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! The stores are still open and this makes zero sense. I would like a refund ASAP if I am unable to use this money in-store. They did not notify customer’s about this rule and it is very problematic. I am EXTREMELY UPSET!

I am rejecting this response because:

The two options Pier One is offering: one store in the whole US is accepting store credit til Aug 23rd OR file a claim in court. Both options are a complete burden to the customer and does not solve the issue of an immediate refund. Again, those options put an extreme burden on the customer.

I have two $50 pier one gift cards that I wanted to use online a couple of months ago when I heard the store was closing. I accidentally scratched off the 4 digit pin. I've contacted gift card services at the number on the back of the gift card multiple times trying to request a replacement card after they verified my balance. They told me they can only check my balance and I would have to contact customer service. When I tried to contact customer service you do not reach a live agent, the line just disconnects. You cannot reach anyone in customer service! I called back gift card Services and spoke with an agent who took my name and address and said she would forward a request to corporate requesting a gift card replacement and I would be notified in 3 weeks of the decision by email. Since I didn't hear anything I called gift card Services back, spoke with another agent who stated there was no record of a request or my info in the system! I called the stores to see if they could assist and a manager told me I would have to contact gift card Services for the replacement. I've been getting the runaround for months! I live in Pennsylvania and the closest pier 1 is in New Jersey. I contacted the stores and was told they are no longer accepting gift cards as forms of payment!! So now I'm stuck with two $50 gift cards that I have to throw away?!?! This is my very first experience with pier 1 and this has been a complete nightmare!!

I have a merchandise credit. I went to Pier 1 in Monroeville, PA, earlier this month they let me know what the balance was. Sales clerk did not inform me that there was a deadline to use it. Today I tried to redeem it and was told they were no longer accepting it because they were no longer Pier 1.

Today I went to shop at Pier1 with my gift card and I was told when I was about to checkout that I cannot use the gift card. There were no signs saying no gift cards allowed and it’s not right for an company to not accept the gift cards which we purchased through their store/ on their store name on it. We have seen company's going out of business but still they will accept their gift cards till the last day. This is cheating and I have not seen this kind of practice here in America. I would have used my gift card earlier if it would not have not been this COVID situation. I want an answer from the corporate what is the solution. Not accepting gift cards as a form of payment without notice is not acceptable and this is cheating.

We received $400 gift card for pier one from my sister in-law and we tried to use online and in-store only for them to tell us they no longer accepts it. Why does the gift cards say never expire when we go to check the balances and now they won’t accepted it. This is like stealing money from us. This was paid for by my sister-in law with hard earn cash! If we can’t use it we want our money back!

Today 7-25-2020 I went online to purchase a table, and of course use my $100.00 gift card I received for my Birthday, and wasn't able to use the card. However on the website it states in a HUGE banner, "TODAY 7-25 is the last day for all online" orders, so I decided there must a mistake and called a local store only to be informed (Dan) that the company filed bankruptcy, and the card now had zero value. A CRIME of theft have been committed and they must be held accountable, no if and or about!

I have $100 gift card and pier 1 will not honor it in Vancouver Washington State store. I called the one *** number on the back of the gift card which then a representative directed me to another phone number which is 1-***-***-***. That phone number gives you a complete run around of an automated system that eventually hangs up on you. I understand pier one is going out of business but they’ve already taken the hundred dollars! The fact they will not honor the gift card in their stores is flat out stealing from the customers. It’s wrong and something should be done about it. They’re still selling all of their merchandise in the store, why wont they honor the money that they have already received prior? Regardless of chapter 11 and their bankruptcy issues they should do the right thing instead of being thieves. I am sure I am not the only person out there that is getting their money stolen from them . The Lesson here that is learned..... never... ever,...EVER buy a gift card from the business itself. If you must buy a gift card, buy a Visa, Discover, MasterCard or American Express prepaid credit card and load money onto that . Those companies are more stable and you can use them on anything anywhere. You don’t have to get stuck with one store that could do this to you . Shame on Pier 1 for selling the remaining merchandise in stores and NOT honoring the gift cards!!! That is THEFT 100%!!!! As far as I’m concerned there’s no other way to see it .

Unable to use a $125 gift card that was given to me as a birthday gift from my grandma! Unfair and JUST STRAIGHT UP WRONG of Pier 1 not to honor this gift card that was paid for in CASH! Terrible that a company will outright steal money from her or anyone else for that matter! Shame on you Pier 1 Imports! Shame on you!

I ordered 3 counter stools on Pier 1s website on July 6th. They delivered two chairs-failed to update me on the status of the other chair. When I called in the advised that the additional chair would be sent separately. I asked okay so when wasn’t the site updated? What’s interesting is the next day—my chair was sent. Arrives 3 days later and is broken! Sorry but when I bought my chairs all sales weren’t final. The cost of the broken chair needs to be refunded or replaced. That should have been checked prior to going out. There was no packaging inside the box to even secure to the chair—so I know it was pure laziness. Please either replace the chair or refund the cost of that chair to me.

I have a $100 gift card they will not honor, although it clearly says the card has no expiration date. The store in Bowling Green KY is still open and yet they will not honor the gift card. If they are able to accept cash, debit and credit cards, why will they not accept this card that is already paid for????
