I have a gift card which I would like to receive a refund. The store in Harrisburg PA has closed.. The next closest store is in Camp Hill, PA and I understand that has closed also. How can I receive cash for this gift card? I think the store should honor all their account receivables.

We have reached out to the customer and explained our process that we are having to follow, after filing for Chapter 11.

I have 2 store credits totaling $80.50 and $29.98. I was aware that they filed Chapter 11. I tried to shop online but the site said they did not take store credits or gift cards. I then went into the store to redeem them and was informed that they were no longer honoring them. I was told that they sent out emails or text messages about the expiring time frame. I did not receive any of those emails or text messages, however I receive the updates of sales merchandise almost daily. I am very disappointed in this company leaving loyal customers under these terms. I was willing to buy items I didn't even need to use my credit. It is after all money that I spent with them. I am sure you have dealt with this issue before
Thank you for your time

I have a gift card I wanted to use but was told I can not. I followed my state covid responses which told me to stay home. Same breathe pier one says I should have shopped for a brief window during the shutdowns and now I am left with a $250 gift card they will not honor but yet took my money for.

I placed an online order for two area rugs on 6/8. As of 8/7, I have not received this order.

I was notified the the order was sent to in-home delivery carrier, Ryder Last Mile, on 6/13. My credit card was charged on 6/13 as well. I have contacted Ryder more than once and they confirmed they have not received this order. I have tried to contact Pier 1 customer service via phone or chat multiple times. All but one time I have not been able to connect with a representative. I get disconnected when I’m next in the queue. The one time I did connect, the rep told me to give it more time, which was about 2 weeks ago. I have since then tried to contact customer service but again am being Repeatedly disconnected after being in the call or chat queue for 1 hour or more.

We are assisting our customer.

My friend gifted me a Pier 1 store credit card that could be used only in store. The back of the card clearly states that there is "no expiration date" on the card but it has to be used "in store" and cannot be used online. On Aug 2, 2020 we went to the store and attempted to purchase using the card. We were curtly told that stored value cards cannot be used as they are going out of business or are being bought by "Gordon" and that a "notice" was put on their website.

While the gift card was not purchased at this location per se, it was attempted to be redeemed here.

As a consumer, you don't wake up and check for a company notice and then head to the store. The store was actively engaging in business and selling merchandise. We were told to call the number at the back of the card to check for ourselves. When we asked the store clerk to call on our behalf he refused to and said he 'did not know anything about corporate policies'.

The # in the back of the card was answered after a 20 min wait only to be told that they can only tell us card balance and cannot assist us further. Was then connected to what was "corporate" where it was another goose chase. We were told to talk to the respective store manager as only they can resolve the issue.

Upon calling the store manager, she refused to assist and said they do not take gift cards anymore and there is nothing she can do to help. We were 'scolded' for not using the card earlier. But the card clearly says, "NO EXPIRATION". Due to personal and COVID reasons we were able to go to the store only last week.

Each person we spoke to had conflicting information to tell us. The business is actively selling merchandise in the store.
My friend has pre-payed for this card's value that is now being robbed by the business. I am seeking a full refund or be allowed to use the card asap.

I was aware Pier One is going out of business but shocked to find out they will not honor my gift card and a merchandise credit card. Went in the store and they rudely said there was nothing they could do. I called customer service and they claim a court document In Virginia has allowed this to happen. How can this be? They are literally stealing people's money. Seems they would have to honor these cards until their final closure date.

I went to the local Pier 1 store in Concord, CA that recently re-opened after being closed due to COVID-19. I was informed by the sales clerk that I could not use my gift card. I was shocked and went to the website and found the gift card disclosure hidden deep within the website and the new policy was extremely vague. Since March, I've received daily emails from Pier 1 about furniture sales but NOTHING about the new gift card policy.
I understand that there is a bankruptcy in progress and the stores are closing but this decision to not honor Pier 1 gift cards WITHOUT informing customers and giving them ample time to use what WE (customers) already paid for seems criminal. A class action lawsuit waiting to happen. I've been a Pier 1 customer for years and have furnished many rooms in my house with their products. I'm sad to see them closing/going out of business. But it's appalling how they are treating customers by not honoring Pier 1 Gift Cards and only giving 30 days to use with NO notice.
Pier 1 should refund the gift card balance - full or partial via check or provide extended time, 60-90 days to use existing gift cards.

Store credit card credit denied as payment .$128.00 dollars in credit of our money on the cc card is no longer accepted . Two weeks ago it was reported we could use the credit since then pier one is now owned and operated by a liquidation company just the stores are still open receipts issued on purchases are still pier one and the man agent and staff all Bare pier one apparel. Call card services and told to call customer services . They report on the telephone we are just working hard to take care of our families during Covid . Well is that an excuse to steal from people I say no . It’s class action lawsuit time against pier one and the liquidation partners.

We have reached out to the customer and explained our process that we are having to follow, after filing for Chapter 11.

I have a $50 gift card I just received and I am being told I cannot use it to purchase items at the store as they go out of business! I do not feel this is right and is a total waste of $50. I should be able to use this until they close their doors. If I cannot use it, I should be reimbursed by pier 1 for the $50!

I presented a gift card for payment of merchandise and was told that gift cards are no longer accepted. The card specifically states that there is no expiration date and it can be used to pay for merchandise at any Pier One store.

I received a gift card from my mother in law. She is retired and on a budget and used her money to kindly buy me a gift card to what was one of my favorite stores. I was so excited and looking forward to going to pick out my $200 worth of items. I was waiting until I felt safe enough to go to one of their locations due to Covid. My father died from Covid, and I almost lost my mother to it as well so you can hopefully understand my fears and apprehensions of an in store visit. I have barely left my house, but I decided to finally go and try to pick my spirits up and use my gift card. I picked out my items and proceeded to the register and after ringing up all of my items, I pulled out my gift card and then they proceeded to tell me that gift cards are no longer being accepted and that basically the gift card isn't worth anything. I was shocked initially and truly upset. The manger said I could have only used it 30 days after they opened. I didn't even understand what that meant, so when I questioned her, she clarified that meant 30 says after reopening from covid. There was nothing stating this anywhere in the store. She then said, it says it online but I didn't look online, I just went to the store like I always did. She also said I could call customer service but that lead to nowhere. How is this even legal? This truly makes me question humanity. Can someone please respond to me and help me figure out a remedy to this situation. It can't just be that a company such as Pier One can take consumer's money and not fulfill their ethical responsibility.

Pier one is no longer excepting/honoring gift cards. Supposedly these gift cards have no expiration date. However pier one has decided to stop honoring them. I am requesting Pier one to honor my gift cards or refund the money spent on them.

I have a $100 gift card (store credit) for Pier1 and they said they were not honoring gift cards anymore. I tried to use it numerous times on line but each item I want could not be shipped to my zip code. Finally I found something in the Riverdale NJ store costing $177 but informed me I could not use my gift card.
According to the CREDIT CARD ACT OF 2009 I thought gift cards could not expire for 5 years

????????I purchased a cabinet online on 6/13. My credit card was charged on 6/19 and a message was received that the item had been shipped to the carrier on 6/19. On 7/6 I called the carrier, Ryder Last Mile to determine if they had received my item in the warehouse. They had not. I have made multiple attempts to contact Pier 1 via the customer service line and via email and chat. None of the systems work. I am placed on hold and eventually told that the system has timed out and I need to call again. I called Ryder last mile again on 8/3. They still have not received my item in the warehouse. Given that Pier one is essentially now closed an no longer in business, I am considering the item to be permanently lost.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, if I am reimburse as stated. I reserve final approval until payment has been made.

Regards

I have Merchandise credit of $100 from pier 1 imports. Which store are not honoring it. I tried to reach customer care to find a solution and they also refused to help. This is broad daylight robbery. Company of such a statute how can they refuse to honor the merchandise credit for which they have taken the money . I need my money back or merchandise to settle this issue.

Greetings, We have reached out to the customer and explained our process that we are
having to follow, after filing for Chapter 11. Thank you, Pier 1 Imports

I have merchandise credit from a previous return I had made. I had lost my receipt so I was only offered merchandise credit. Today at the Camarillo, CA store they would not accept my merchandise credit for payment.

Pier 1 Imports Response • Aug 05, 2020

We have communicated our policy to customer.

I, like many others on the Revdex.com complaint website regarding Pier One have a gift card issue. I drove 40 minutes one way Saturday, August 1, to a Pier One location in Champaign, IL to use my gift cards purchased by my family for me for the value of $95 (one for $75 and the other $20). Previously, upon the announcement of Pier One going out of business, I had attempted in May to use my gift cards online, but the items selected would not ship to my zip code (I had not seen their website again until after I visited their Champaign, IL location in an attempt for an email address to contact them directly, which I could not find one). I waited in line for 15 minutes before I was able to enter the store- due to COVID-19 as there was a 15 person maximum capacity. Once inside, I found items to purchase and proceeded to the cash register. Not until I reached the cash register, did I see a sign that read gift cards were no longer able to be used on merchandise. I asked the store manager if she could call the number on the back of the card and verify the funds and enter as an in store purchase on the registered. She declined. She stated the gift cards had no value and there was nothing I could do about it. These cards were purchased with cash and paid to Pier One on the promise of merchandise at a later date. I am absolutely disgusted by Pier One's unwillingness to accept the form of payment when they have already received the money. I feel this is fraud! I understand Pier One is going out of business, however their stores remain open and consumers continue to buy merchandise, there is absolutely no reason they should not honor this form of payment that has already been paid for on merchandise.

I was told on July 30 that I can not redeem my $50 gift card. I was in the store a few weeks earlier and was informed I could use it through the month of August. I received the card as a gift from my daughter and feel she now threw away $50 of her hard earned money. I love Pier 1 and was a seasonal employee for several years. I’m appalled that my daughter didn’t even receive an email Informing her, as the purchaser , that I could no longer use the card through August.

As Pier One announced it is going out of business, I visited the location in Oakbrook on Sunday, July 26, 2020 to make a purchase using a $28.08 merchandise credit. I was told that "we don't accept that", with no further explanation. I assumed it was due to the liquidation. My first action was to destroy the merchandise credit card but I decided to do some research.

On the Pier 1 business operations FAQ site, it states:
Merchandise credits were able to be used as a form of tender in stores for 30 days after each store reopened. Merchandise credits will be deemed to have no value after such date. We will not issue cash refunds for merchandise credits.

As we are currently living in the COVID reality, this is absurd.

When developing these policies, it is as if the company realized most individuals would miss this window of opportunity due to several reasons:

1) it appears that every store location may be subject to different reopening timelines. How are individuals notified or expected to be aware of this under these extenuating circumstances? When did the oak brook store even open??

2) States and local Municipalities are advising residents to avoid non essential travel, shopping, etc. For safety reasons, are individuals expected to know that redeeming a store merchandise credit at pier one is an essential need?

In addition, the merchandise credit cannot be used on the Pier One website:

We no longer have merchandise to fulfill orders via the warehouse that fulfills our e-commerce orders. You may still view merchandise that may be available at a store near you, find your nearest store, check order status, find answers to frequently asked questions and chat with Customer Relations. If you would like to purchase merchandise, please visit one of our store locations.

Pier 1 Imports Response • Aug 05, 2020

We have contacted our customer.

Even though the stores are open I am unable to use my $50 gift card at pier 1 there was no warning or notice given that this was going to be expiring.
