Pier 1 Imports Reviews (%countItem)

I ordered a cabinet online and was charged $169.00 for the white glove delivery service to have the furniture delivered and set up in my room of choice. Delivery companies are currently not entering homes past the front door threshold. There was no other delivery option available, and I paid for a service that wasn’t performed. I’ve tried to contact Pier 1, and I’ve been on hold several times without being able to get through to talk to anyone.

Pier 1 Imports Response • Aug 21, 2020

Greetings, We have reached out to the customer and waiting for a call back. Thank you, Pier 1 Imports

On 7/7/20 I visited a local Pier 1 in Plantation, FL. I was fully aware as of a few weeks prior that they had filed to go out of business. I brought my $250 worth of gift cards with me and filled a cart with merchandise. When I went to check out I was told that as of that Sunday 7/5/20 the store no longer is accepting gift cards! I was furious! I asked for them to make an exception since it has only been 2 days and the store manager was very rude and did not seem interested in helping. She told me they had sent emails (I do not subscribe to junk mail) and posted on their website (in TINY writing on the top of the page which I had her show me). I attempted to call customer service which was a joke. Every time I would call it would just ring and ring and ring, never an answer. I then turned to their online customer service chat, which again was a joke. Took me almost a full day to get in touch with someone only to get disconnected. I am a full time nurse and have been battling to maintain a normal life amount all of the COVID chaos. The last thing on my mind was checking to see if I could use my gift cards for a company going out of business. I am super disappointed and feel as if my hard earned money has been taken from me with no resolution.

Over $200 in gift cards unable to use even though the company is still open and selling merchandise.

I was given a $300 gift card to Pier One several months ago. I still have a remaining balance of $104.08 on the gift card but was told that it is no longer valid and that due to the company filing bankruptcy, the gift card no longer holds any value. I was told to contact customer service but it is impossible because the store is considered "closed". Today on August 18th I was able to go into a Pier One and purchase several items, so I'm not sure why my gift card is now unacceptable. They are still accepting money but won't pay me for the remaining balance. The employees told me that after July 26th no gift cards can be accepted, but I would like to know how the consumers (ones with gift cards) were suppose to know that?

I recently purchased a white round dining table form Pier 1 Nashua, NH. They told me it was as is sale and the floor model. It appeared to be in really good condition. After 2 months in my home I noticed flight holes and Frass dust on the floor. Table was infested I Woodworm. I threw out the table and want to say buyer beware of purchases from this store. Never again.

Unable to use my gift card. They acknowledged this was cash but still would not take my card as payment. This is a scam on Pier Ones part.

I called Pier 1 to find out my gift card balance only to find out I can no longer use it as they are going out of business! I no idea! The stores were closed for the longest due to the pandemic and just recently reopened. This is wrong!!! $50.00 down the drain!

I have a $200 gift card from pier one store to use and they took the $200 when the gift card was purchased but refuse to let me get merchandise from the gift card. They owe that money back to the consumer. Its steeling from ppl. They are going out of business so why not let ppl use their gift cards?

On June 13, 2020, I placed an order through Pier 1 online website. The order was for:

Plush Nautical Blue Papasan Cushion 2 $98.00
Item *** $49.00 ea
Outdoor Mocha Papasan Chair Bowl 2 $71.98
Item *** $35.99 ea
Outdoor Mocha Papasan Chair Base 2 $36.00
Item 2440279 $18.00 ea

Item Total: $205.98
Shipping: $169.00
Sales Tax: $15.96
Shipment Total: $390.94

The ordered total $390.94 and was charged onto my credit card immediately on the same day. On June 18, 2020, I received an email confirmation that the order had been sent to the carrier for delivery.
The order confirmation stated:
Your order *** has left the Pier 1 warehouse. It may take 5-7 business days to arrive at the Ryder Last Mile Hub. Once received at the Ryder Last Mile Hub, they will contact you via phone and email to schedule delivery for your order. Your credit card has been billed. This email serves as your receipt so please keep it for your records.

The date the carrier (Ryder Last Mile Hub) would receive the items to delivery to my home was scheduled for July 3, 2020. I have called RyderLast Mile Hub at 1.***.***.*** over 10 times from this date and still they have not received my order from pier 1, therefore are unable to deliver my order. I have also called Pier 1 Contact Customer Relations at (***) ***-*** and their response was the delivery carrier is not accepting deliveries due too many orders and they are unable to deliver my order. it has been over 2 months and I still have not received my items.

Pier 1 Imports Response • Aug 17, 2020

Greetings,We have reached out to the
customer and monitoring for their response.Thank you,Pier 1 Imports

they will not honor my gift card there is no store open in my state. They said I should have heard about it in the news or go to the bankruptcy judge

Pier 1 had no problem over charging customers when they were going strong for years. I do not know why I am surprised they refuse to honor gift cards now. They made a lot of money off of loyal customers who loved their products and pay the prices. But as soon as they start having problems - before COVID-19. They bail and refuse to honor gift cards. I had two one for $100.00 and one for $200.00. Unfortunately due to COVID-19 and being high risk; I was not able to go to store. Before I knew what was happening the online website closed.. When contacting a store rude will not honor gift cards.

I find it very disrespectful to over-charge customers, use customers to make a lot of money and then refuse to honor gifts cards that they had no problem selling to customers when they knew there was a chance they would scam the customer by not honoring gift cards and keep the money.

I hope the business owners realize how unfair they have been. Not sure they will because I feel like the are chasing the money but it would be nice for them to think what their parents would think of their deceptive practices.

I have a $75 gift card and they are no longer taking gift cards... However they are saying everything must go... and I cannot use it in store or online... I think this is very poor customer service and a caution to anyone buying gift cards in the future...Would love some more peacock pillows... or my money back on this gift card..

Tried to use a gift card I received as a wedding gift but was told at the store I could not use it. I understand going out of business but these are cards that have been bought and paid for. How was anyone supposed to know these cards would not be honored? The man at the store told me I could try to get Pier 1 to refund me for the value of the card. Not sure how this is fair to consumers, especially now since we can barely leave our homes with the pandemic. Furthermore, the original value of the card has been docked by half when the card was never used.

Pier 1 refuses to take my gift card that has over $300 dollars on it. They claim (with tiny font) that gift cards are only accepted within 30 days of reopening. How could a customer shop with covid and my city being phase 1. It's outrageous and a true violation. Please help thousands of customers who spent money only to be told it cannot be redeemed.

I have 2 Pier 1 gift cards worth $90.00. Even when I heard Pier 1 stores were closing, I couldn't use my gift card because stores and the entire city were closed due to the Corona virus pandemic. Stores didn't reopen for a while. Pier 1 is simply scamming their customers. So when I was able to shop at the Pier 1 in Freeport NY to use the gift cards, was told
they are no longer honoring them. Store manager refuse to help me claiming it was advertise that they are not honoring and gift card no longer have value. They earned charge these gifts cards. There is pandemic and no opportunity to shop during quarantine. I'm not an online shopper and I have the right to buy my items in person. The store are still open and selling. They are still advertising Pier 1 brands across the city. Given the fact that the store is still open and has merchandise, I
believe they are obligated to acknowledge and allow customers to use their gift cards. I really need Pier 1 to refund me the amount on my gift cards.

I have a Pier 1 gift card. When I heard they were going out of business, I went online to use it, because I was not visiting stores due to the virus (I am a senior citizen). I tried for weeks to purchase something online, but every time I chose something, once I got to shipping, I was told Pier 1 did not ship to my area. So, today (August 12, 2020) I went to the store on Woodruff Road in Greenville, South Carolina to use the card, but was told they are no longer honoring them. How was I to know this? Given the fact that the store is still open and has merchandise, I believe they are obligated to allow their customers to use their gift cards.

I have a store credit that would not be honored in store. I went to a Pier One about a month or so ago, and the store clerk said the stores weren't closing soon and they were getting new merchandise every day. But when I went back on Monday, 10 August 2020, I tried to use my store credit for a purchase and was told they were no longer accepting store credits. What??!!! The store is still open! How could they not honor store credits??!!

Pier 1 Imports Response • Aug 12, 2020

Greetings, We have reached out to the customer and explained our process that we are
having to follow, after filing for Chapter 11. Thank you, Pier 1 Imports

Gift card are not being honored. They have taken our money and now will now allow people to use them. Stores were closed when they announced that they were closing. Different stores opened at different times and you were only allowed to use your gift card for 30 days after stores re-opened. They did not put this out publicly and with everyone staying at home, now the 30 days are past and many people are left with gift cards that are useless.

I am extremely angry and completely confused as to how a company can "STEAL" money from people. I shopped at the Pier 1 store in Morehead City, NC, on numerous occasions. I always used gift cards that were given to me as gifts as my form of payment for my purchases. I was in the store in June consolidating several cards into 1 card for easier tracking. I even made a purchase that day. Not once during this time did any employee mention to me that that they would be "stopping the use of gift cards as a form of payment in the very near future". Why would this not have been mentioned??? I went into the Morehead City, NC, store on 08/08/2020. I shopped for about 30 minutes and brought my items to counter to purchase. I went to use my gift card as the form of payment and was told that they stopped accepting gift cards on July, 02, 2020. There was no sign on the door (I asked and also took pictures). I asked about where this policy was posted and the employee pulled out a sign from behind the counter and placed it on the counter near the register. It looked like it was thrown together at the last minute - not professional at all. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that there was noting anyone could do. I asked for a corporate number. The employee went into the back room and came back out after a brief time and stated that no one could find the number to corporate. This is ridiculous. IT IS THEFT!!! My gift card as a credit of $213.06 on it. If the store will not honor it, I will expect someone from he corporate office to contact me as to where they can send me a check. I will not be out that much money. I have tried to contact the Customer Service Number I found online. To date, I have made 7 telephone calls.... I have been kept on hold for hours, transferred numerous times to an automated system, and have been disconnected.

I have a gift card that I received as a gift and now the company refuses to accept it. I knew they were going out of business, but they already have the money and it is not right that they will not accept the gift card as payment. The "30 day" post opening time frame to use the card is buried in their website-- and with COVID-- how on earth were we supposed to know when stores opened-- it was not the first thing on my mind for sure. I just do not understand how this is even legal.
