This company is literally a scam. I cancelled my membership and was charged for a premium membership that I did upgrade to. this is ridiculous
I did the four week free trial then I cancelled my account. I was just charged $70 for a premium account that I did not upgrade to and should not have been charged for. I then went to cancel my new membership and when I did that I was told I had to call a number in order to cancel it. I called the number and it was not even anyone from Shaw Academy it was from a hotel in New Jersey. I am so mad and this is ridiculous. I then found an email claiming to be from Shaw Academy and I have now emailed them that I need a refund and my membership cancelled. I have not gotten a response but I am beyond angry because they do not have the right to take my money and scam me.

Desired Outcome

I want them to end my membership and give me my refund and to never have to deal with Shaw Academy again.

Will not cancel my trial account
The trail service is impossible to cancel. I clicked through 5 different "are you sure" pages before I was told I had to phone a number, which is automated and didn't accept my student number, thus I could not proceed with cancelling my membership. I contacted support and haven't heard a peep from them. The entire service appears to be a scam. Even the classes they offered are garbage and have additional fees associated with them.

Desired Outcome

I want my account cancelled immediately and no charges put through to my credit card. I also want my credit card information removed from their servers and I want the company shut down.

They may have cancelled my subscription but they still have my credit card information and haven't completely deleted my account. Further, I shouldn't have to contact the Revdex.com in order to get my account cancelled. You need to change your subscription cancellation procedure so that it's easier to cancel a subscription and delete an account.

Thanks for deleting my credit card information, but the main issue remains: It is next to impossible for people to cancel their subscription with your company. It should not require us submitting a Revdex.com case in order to cancel our subscription. You need to simplify the manage subscription option for your services.

That's great. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm going to keep this case open until you've revamped your subscription cancellation model.

Charged me for Premium Membership subscription during first week of free trial Month, when I requested to:
- delete my account
- delete billing info
Keeps access to my account when I asked to delete all my data like billing etc and email that could be sold to third parties, not only it retained my data wheb I withdrew my consent for Shaw Academy to retain it, but also it charged My retired grandmas card with subscription fee just when I asked them to delete my account all together. I'm nowhere close to even finish free trial. As a broke actuarial student I am scared to keep my poor family banking details with them as they might charge me for more things that I never bought or clicked at, as I heard from other people who were charged for things they didn't buy. I believe them, because they charged me premium when I told them to unsubscribe me completely. They are a scam and a dangerous one as they feast on the poorest and unemployed trying to upskill. I feel credit card of my grandma has been compromised by scammers= Shaw Academy.

Desired Outcome

All of the below: - Refund for charge taken on 90zloty, and all of the charges if they steal more in the future - Proof of deleting my account, of deleting data that could be sold to third parties, proof of deleting contact and billing details

Predatory sales practices.
I was coerced into a subscription via a predatory one-click subcription. I was refused a refund for the subscription that I will not be using. Customer service is not a priority. Keeping your unauthorized payment is their game.

I've been asking for a refund for a week now; thank you for doing the right thing.

I enrolled on 19th May 2020, immediately realise was wrong choice. Cancelled my membership next day without using it a second, still charged £50 today
I subscribed on 19/05/2020 and then cancelled my account next day. I used phone to emphasising that I DID NOT WANT TO ATTEND AND DID NOT ATTEND, Please make sure I wont be charged. I then get confirmation on 20th May that my account is cancelled.

The on 19th July 2020 I got charged which bounces bac as I disnt have enough money in my account. This would have negative impact on my credit file.

Then on 27th July 2020 I got charged £49.99 despite all the phone call and confirmation email that it was cancelled.

All this happened against the backdrop of Covid hardship that hot me hard and putting me really ina bad situation.

I contacted them on 19th July 20 and they ignored me, now they chaged me again this time as the money was present it was deducted.

Could you please help?

I would like full refund plus interest rate charged daily for everyday the amount is not in my account as well as any caused dmaged to My credit report for bouncing back on 19th July. I would happily settle this for £150 ( refund + damage)

I'm complaining about the difficulty on cancelling from their free trial subscription.
1. Their provided telephone numbers were only voice recorded and they will tell you that the student number you provided on the call is incorrect even if the # came from their members website.

2. They won't cancel your subscription right away.

3. No option on deleting your payment details from their website.

Desired Outcome

1. The company shouldn't be difficult to contact. 2. Fix their website. 3. There shouldn't be no difficulty on cancelling subscription.

Shaw Academy's website is covered with click bait, linked to one-click purchasing, with no notice. If you mis-click, they will not issue a refund.
On 7/23/2020 I was working on a course on the Shaw Academy website. I'm currently enrolled in the free trial version. There are numerous ads that pop up during lessons, on the webpage...all over really. This is unfortunate because the content of the lessons are quite good. I was pleased enough with the lessons that I wanted to check and see what the "hard copy diploma" included. When I clicked on the product (hoping for a description) my credit card was charged for a $60 purchase.
Problem 1: Don't litter your website with click bait

Problem 2: There are no descriptions of what you receive from the different products. For example, its extremely difficult to determine what services you receive from a premium membership, and only through researching was I able to determine that you still have to pay for every module assignment and certificate. The "diploma" that I "purchased" wouldn't even be valid without my spending nearly $200 additional dollars on end of module assignments. There is no reference to the dependency because there is no product description, and one-click purchasing. Thank goodness you all aren't teaching UX Design.

Problem 3: No notice of one click purchasing! Even Amazon makes it obvious when you're selecting to spend money with a single click.

Problem 4: I requested a refund literally within 5 minutes of the click. I received a form response "no" that refused a refund. I replied and asked to speak with someone further regarding the issue, and have not received an answer.

Based on this information, I've assessed Shaw Academy as the kind of business that essentially relies on reeling people in with free trials and then waiting for a mistake to occur, money to be paid, and refusing to remedy disgustingly poor customer service. Despite the quality of the lessons, which should be enough for the company to stand on, Shaw Academy is a scam.

Full refund of the charge for a hard copy diploma that I don't want.

What this company elects to ignore is that I never had any intention of buying their diploma, and I do not want it. I was charged because I was trying to view a product description but I could just have easily have misclicked in one of at 5 places on their website and ended up with the same result. I'm certain that they are aware of these shady business practices and choose to take advantage of them anyway, without any integrity.

Shaw Academy billed me after I canceled my free trial and will not refund my money.
I responded to a free 30-day trial of online membership for a course. They made it impossible to take the courses on my schedule, which was promised ahead of time. When I saw they were scamming me, I immediately dropped the class and canceled my membership. However, they billed me at the end anyway. They are a scam company who makes it very difficult to cancel membership and the free trial is bair for unsuspecting people trying to better themselves.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund from Shaw Academy for the $34.97 they charged me through my PayPal and I think they should change their unscrupulous practices immediately. I contacted them and PayPal the day the charge was made (7/23) and have not heard back from them.

30 day free subscription, credit card required. Called to cancel 4/23/20. Told it would cancel. Billed $34.99 on 7/26/20.
Subscribed to 30 day free online course approx 6/26/20. Had to give credit card info to subscribe. Called to cancel on 7/23/20 and spoke with Robert. Was told it would cancel. Was charged $34.99 on 7/26/20. Tried to call the same number to dispute. Get automated prompts that go over 4 times trying to retain my account. Never puts me through to a live person. I have disputed this charge with my banking establishment. Shaw Academy gets your information and makes it very difficult to cancel the subscription. They send numerous emails, but don't seem inclined to really care about the person on the other end. Seems to be just a money game for them.

Shaw Academy offers several "free" trial options that require a credit card verification of age/eligibility but then charges your card fraudulently.
I recently signed up for a free course, but then realized how awful the program was. The whole thing was a cheap, hokey scam. Cancelling is made as difficult as possible and even after you "cancel" successfully, they continue to charge your card. Contact attempts were made via social media, mobile app, web, and phone, all of which were unsuccessful. Instead, the company bullies you into agreeing to let them keep your money they took without authorization. After placing a stop payment on the account while waiting for a bank dispute, Shaw Academy's first attempt at charging the account a second time was denied. They then intentionally changed the vendor name appearance and charged my account anyway a few days later. I've had to cancel my debit card and go several days without one (I'm still waiting on it) as a result of the fraudulent transactions and negligent behavior. I'm now battling endlessly to have the two unauthorized payments of $69.99 returned to me to no avail. This needs to be resolved/refunded immediately.

Desired Outcome

Full refund of both payments of $69.99 issued immediately. Vendor will need to mail a check as I've now had to cancel my debit card as a result of their fraudulent behavior.

I signed up for a free trial and they billed me for two months. I called them several times and tried canceling and there is no one to speak with.
I have sent several emails to cancel my subscription and tried calling several times. This company does not reply to my emails and there is no one to speak with over the phone. I signed up for 4 free weeks and they billed my debit card for two months without my consent and they did not notify that they would do so. I want a full refund of the $64 the charged my card.

I called to cancel my account, told she'd send an email regarding my cancellation but I have never received a confirmation.
I signed up for the free trial (which is advertised as cancel anytime) but decided to look into the academy further and was alarmed to see the horror stories that other people had experienced. I immediately went to my account to cancel and called the number provided, only to be told that I was throwing my future away (nice gas lighting tactics). I told the employee several times that I was no longer interested in the course and I wanted to cancel my membership while she continued to talk over me. Finally, she said she would be sending me a cancellation email (which I've yet to receive).

I no longer want anything to do with this company and want my account to be deleted and to not be charged. My student number is XXXXX.

I want my membership to be deleted and not be charged for any services henceforth.

I was given a 30 free trial and I canceled after 1 hour and was charged 30 days later &69.99 and have not been refunded my money as of yet

I was informed that they shaw academy had me under a wrong email and feel that they are entitled to my 69.99 for courses I had no access to due to email error. They have offered me free access to courses for 6months which I do not want and dont have access to due to wrong email. address . they have sent txt messages which I am unable to reply to I feel they are not complaint as to helping resolve matters

I cancelled my subscription but was still charged.

Customer service is a joke. I want a refund. The email response was not there on the response date.
I signed up for the free 4 week trial writing course. From the start I had problems. The video from the first lesson would not play. After a couple of times, I emailed Shaw Academy through their ticket request to let them know about my problem on July 17, 2020. I did try again for the third time. The lesson would not play. I waited for a response. I checked my email every day for 3 days. Nothing. Then I check my email in bed July 23rd. There is an email response sent on July 21st titled "Request #" and my ticket number. In this email, below asking for a customer review, I see Gregory had responded to my ticket on July 18th at 12:42 pm GMT +1. I did not get this email at all in the first place. What makes this more aggravating the email he added to his response is NOT my email. I read broken English. If this company is real and out of Dublin Ireland their English would be just as good typed. Furthermore, I ended up getting charge for the Module toolkit I didn't order. I do not want. I sent a refund request on July 24th. Oh look. I got a quick response when asking for a refund. Doesn't surprise me. They are denying me my refund. I didn't tap the "buy now" in the pop up window. I kept closing it. It's annoying. I've already had to file a complaint with PayPal. They were no help. Now I'm going through my bank. I have to get my son diapers. I'm limited on money. I want a refund. Plus to cancel the trial membership I have to call a number. I did about 2 days ago. It is not the number for Shaw Academy. The number went to New Jersey and was answered by a man who doesn't work for Shaw Academy because I asked.

I signed up for their trial and cancel it on the same exact day send an email to them then got billed $39.95 turned around sent them another email requesting a refund and then today I get billed $67.97! I cancelled everything I want my money back its $107.92 and I'm getting ahold of my attorney

I didn't authorize any payment as I was still on my free trial period. However, they upgraded my account and charged me.
Shaw Academy Erroneously charged my account. The decision was erroneous for the following reasons, the transaction I made with Shaw Academy stated that my free trial period, beginning July 3rd, 2020, and would end a month from that date. However, they billed me £99.95 on July, 23rd, 2020, which is still during the trial period.

Desired Outcome

It was my prerogative to cancel my membership before the conclusion of the trial period. The company fraudulently prevented me from exercising this prerogative, and has locked me into a lifetime membership. Because of this, I am asking to rescind the payment erroneously levied against me.

After signing up for a free course, telling them to cancel my account, and it being cancelled, I am still getting charged.
I signed up for the free graphic design course which clearly read that the course was free but you had to pay for course materials (if you wanted) and a fee for a certificate of completion. The issues started with the horrible single touch to buy an expensive course book module which can be activated by SWIPING on your screen. They refused to refund this when I contacted them and instead offered me a $199 credit for classes. In my email I clearly stated that I wanted my account cancelled which upon checking it was as I no longer have access to it. Yet today I was charged another $69.99 by them. I never even took the classes. They constantly send texts that when replying STOP do not stop. My complain ID when I asked for my account to be cancelled and a refund for the course book pack is #XXXXXXX.The person who contacted me was Luke. This problem started on 6/26/2020, and the second charge came through on 7/23/2020. First payment was for $34.99 and the second for $69.99.

Desired Outcome

Stop using predatory billing practices on your site with one touch purchasing. And when someone requests their account be cancelled, cancel the account and actually stop billing them.

I began a 28 day free trial with Shaw Academy and ended it three days later. Shaw charged me almost two months after canceling. They refuse to refund.
On May 28, 2020, I began a 28 day free trial for a course with Shaw Academy. I received an email from them stating that I would have to purchase books for the course and that it wasn't all online. I canceled because I didn't want to have to pay for books. Upon canceling, Shaw Academy let me know that I had to verify my cancellation by calling a number. I called the number during business hours on June 1 and canceled my subscription. On July 24, my Wells Fargo Debit Card was charged $69.99. I filed a claim with Wells Fargo to dispute the charges and again contacted Shaw Academy. I wasn't able to get through to a representative to discuss receiving a refund. My bank is researching the issue. The charge brought my account below zero and I incurred bank fees. I am currently unemployed due to Covid19 and can not afford such charges. Upon researching this business, I see that others have had the same issue I am having. I simply want my refund because I canceled well within the specified range for cancellation. I even took a screenshot with the phone number Shaw Academy said I had to call to complete cancellation. I have the date the screenshot was taken in my phone. My student number was XXXXX. When I call, it's as if it isn't in the system. It shouldn't be, because I canceled right after signing up.

Desired Outcome

I would like this company to provide a refund in the amount of $69.99 to my Wells Fargo Visa Debit Card ending in *** and for them to delete my card information and not attempt to charge me ever again.

I do not accept this response from Shaw Academy because after speaking with the representative at the bank and filing a complaint with Revdex.com, Shaw Academy and my bank, Wells Fargo, I updated the claim and stated that Shaw Academy owes me an additional $69.99 due to charges they placed on my bank account in BOTH June and July! I canceled within a few days of my free trial and found out I was charged in June and July. I submitted to all parties I filed complaints with, the screenshot taken with the date I began my cancellation- May 31, 2020! This was WELL WITHIN my alleged 28 day FREE trail. I was charged in June and July- $69.99+$69.99= $139.98! My refund amount must be corrected by Shaw Academy! After my cancellation, I found that they STILL have my bank account information and have not removed it as I requested. I have had to get a new debit card to block their activity on my account. Their resolution is unacceptable because right after I received the email from them, I sent proof of the two charges that myself and the bank representative found on my account. The only reason I was alerted to this latest charge in July was because it dropped my account below zero and I incurred charges from my bank due to Shaw's unexpected and FRAUDULENT withdrawal of funds from my account. After looking back to the month of June with my bank rep, we found that they had also charged me in June, 24 days after I completed cancellation over the phone AND 25 days after I cancelled online. So, $69.99 is unacceptable when they charged me twice for services I cancelled shortly after beginning a 28 day free trial.
