Shaw academy is taking money from me due to an error in their website.
Shaw academy seemed cool at first I used them about a week and then came their horrible practices. First their website charges me for some certificate I'm never going to get its a hard copy. I told them I accidentally clicked the hard copy certificate when the page was loading and they simply say sorry we can't refund it is not convenient at this time I told them I wanted to cancel my subscription and I wanted my money back and they say oh we will give u over 400 to 600 dollars worth of free stuff to keep using us but a refund is not convenient due to terms and conditions however it clearly states they will refund with just cause and I believe I have just cause I have already changed my debit card so they won't be getting anymore money even they try. Secondly they are very annoying they expect u to be in live classes when they clearly state you can just rewatch lessons to get your certificate I am clearly fed up with them and something needs to b done with this horrible company I can c why they have such horrible reviews
Desired Outcome
I want my money refunded my account canceled and removed from your system completely

We are very sorry for the inconvenience you faced. However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase. I signed up for the 4 week free trial. I cancelled before the 28 days. I was charged and now they won't refund my money back to my Card.
I signed up for the free 4 week trial membership on 6/14/20. I called and cancelled my membership Several days before my trial membership was over. I went through the prompts and all the extra offers that were offered and hit the button for I still want to cancel my membership. After the very last prompt, I pressed the number for I still want to end my trial membership. After that the phone disconnected on Shaw Academy's end and my membership was cancelled. Then I noticed a charge was made to my card on 7/27/20 for $69.99 when I cancelled my trial membership. I emailed Shaw Academy and advised them of this and that I wanted a refund back to my card. I was emailed back to notify me that I would not be getting a refund and that I never cancelled my membership, but they would make sure it was cancelled now and give me 6 months free access to the course so I could complete it. I don't want anymore access or I would have continued my membership. I want a refund back to my card as I did cancel my trial membership before it was over. I have not attended a class or even looked at one since before I sent the e-mail to them. I did not get anything out of the classes as I already knew everything they were teaching and I was not going to pay for a certification either. I just want my refund back as I did exactly as it says to the cancellation per the terms and conditions of cancellation before 7/12/20, which was when my 28 day free trial ended. I also have the Emails showing where I tried to resolve with Shaw Academy, the reply refusing my refund and everything stated And both statements verifying when my trial period was and charges were made. However, it won't let me upload more than 5 files.
Desired Outcome
I want the money charged to my card for the $69.99 refunded back to my card.

I do not accept this as a solution, as my call logs do not go back that far (you're talking about 3-3.5 weeks) and my phone carrier is cricket. They do not give out or send phone records either unless it's ordered by the court. Therefore, this does not help me. I just want my refund. You are taking money away from a single mom who is supporting 3 children during a pandemic and economic crisis. Life is already hard enough and to have a company taking money that is not theirs on top of that? That's pretty sad. If you want records, you can see when I accessed the classes last. Go and look at that to see when I cancelled. I'm sure you can pull things up from your app to see when the last time I attended a class was before I was billed and when I cancelled on the app and called the same night. I couldn't of gotten a phone number to call any other way and have known about the prompts and promotions to go through? That should be proof enough for you. However, I do have a screenshot with the phone number and my student reference number it said I would need and didn't. This is the only Document I have proving I canceled.

They don't let you cancel your free-trial
I received many ads for their service and I decided to sign up for the free-trial. I immediately got bombarded with texts and emails and still hadn't been allowed to access any content from their site. I decided this was not going to work out so I would just cancel right away. They made me click to cancel about 7-10 times until they finally took me to a screen that said I had to call to cancel during their limited business hours.
Desired Outcome
They state you can cancel anytime which is clearly not true! I also want my membership cancelled. I possibly got it to cancel payment through Paypal so I might not be charged.

I reviewed my account online and it says my account is canceled.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial. I canceled early and was told I would not be charged. I now noticed I have been charged twice and I cannot cancel
In early June I signed up for a 4 week free trial. I had to enter credit card info to register, but I canceled after only a couple weeks and was told I would not be charged. (I had to jump through hoops to cancel this free trial this is how I know I remember correctly that I canceled early) I just noticed I have been charged twice for $69.99 premium membership that I did not want and did not sign up for. I found the account and logged in and went through the steps to cancel the membership that I did not sign up for and it asked me to call a number to finalize the cancel even though it made me click "I want to cancel my account" like five times just to get to that page. I called the number and am asked to enter my account number followed by # which is XXXXX. I tried doing this several times and each time it said my account number was incorrect. There are no other phone numbers to be found there is no customer service way to contact them quickly. There is no way to call and ask for a refund or to even just cancel the account. This company is a scam!! I was charged July 2 and July 30 both for $69.99. I started the free trial June 4th. I used my debit card to register, they verified it by charging me $.50 "100% refundable" and then I canceled the subscription so I wasn't charged for my class. But then I was charged twice in July. And I still can't cancel the account because calling didn't work.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund. I am a college student living during a pandemic this is unacceptable. I did not want a membership this company makes it too difficult to cancel anything and even when I did cancel I was still charged and given a premium membership that I do not want.

They advertise you can cancel anytime but when you cancel they make you call during limited days/hours.
I signed up for the free 4 week trial and had to provide a cc #. They advertise you can cancel at anytime. I realized they make you sign up for specific days and times and I have 3 small children so committing to specific days and times is unattainable. I clicked to cancel the same day (Sat). Instead of cancelling like they advertised they told me I had to call and explain why I'm canceling before they would cancel but they are only open M-F. I don't think I need to explain myself to them and they shouldn't advertise you can cancel anytime if that isn't the case.
Desired Outcome
I want my membership cancelled and I want to feel confident my credit card won't be charged in a month. I also want them to change their advertising practices or honor them.

sales, quality, cancellation, customer service
Charged for a tool kit that I was supposed to receive for free. Sent email to support and haven't received any response. The app doesn't load the course I signed up for. Not able to cancel during my free trial. Sent to call a number with a student ID that is rejected and no other options provided. Course is not at the standard it is presented. Spammed with emails sometimes 10+ a day to buy certificates, kits, etc. Some emails are even bullying- Your class is already started, your trial will be canceled if you don't attend now. ( Even though there is 30 mins until the class actually starts) Phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX to cancel with student id XXXXX. This company has taken advantage of me, charged me outside the agreement and hasn't allowed me to cancel.
Desired Outcome
For my free trail to end now and not be charge and to be refunded for the tool kit. $39

Thank you for the refund and canceling the trial.
Wasnt able to cancel my free trial because the student ID they gave me did not work on their automated phone system so I was charged and got no refund
I signed up for the free trial. A couple days before it was to end I attempted to cancel so I would not be charged because I didn't find their services to be of any use for me. In order to cancel you have to call an automated phone system. It starts by asking for your student ID. I put in my ID that Shaw Academy issued me but the system didn't recognize it. There is no way to get passed *** part otherwise, no way to talk to a representative or anything. So I was unable to cancel and they charged my debit card once the free trial expired. The card number ends in 8740 (will provide full number if requested) and I was charged $61.99 on 7/21/20. I emailed their customer service and asked for a refund but they said I should have cancelled if I didn't wish to be charged. I explained that the student ID they gave me didn't work on their automated system and was met with indifference to the matter save for an offer of like 3 free months or something like that (see attached email documents). I explained the ridiculousness of the offer since I wasn't interested in their service at all. They should give refunds when its the fault of their system for my inability to cancel my free trial.
Desired Outcome
I just want the $61.99 refunded. That's all.

I want to cancel my subscription with Shaw Academy because they did not inform us upon registering that they have a fee to monthly subscription.
I have registered because they said it was a free trial for a month and now they have billed me for a monthly subscription which was not informed during the registration.
Then, I just saw that they have automatically changed my subscriptiom to PREMIUM which I have not approved of.
Desired Outcome

problem with refund issues on the one-click payment screen that's almost impossible to avoid due to the pop-up screen that's shows up out of no where.
July 19,2020 I was checking out the site after signing up for the free trial with the email address ***@gmail.com as I was scanning the web page a pop up notification showed up on my screen where it was almost impossible not to click on the one-click payment option. This ended up happening twice! I immediately emailed them for help with a refund due to what happen. That's when they sent an email saying these words "Once the Toolkit is activated in your account, it is made available to you immediately for download hence it cannot be disabled or the access cannot be revoked. Hence, we will not be able to process the refund as per our terms and conditions. Click Here to review the same in particular section 5.8." so they made me have to be ok with extending the trial for 6 month and access to the toolkit of choice and hard copy of diploma? My account doesn't even say anything different except the new course was added. That's when I looked more into the company and reviews and saw that I surly was not the only person with this issue.
Desired Outcome
refund

They will not refund me even though I canceled my account months ago.
I decided to sign up for a course with Shaw Academy. When I found out that said course would cost me hundreds of dollars, I canceled the same day I signed up. I continued to receive emails, so I contacted via email to make sure my account was canceled (this was still in the "free trail" timeframe). They did not respond even though the email said they would get back to me. This was April 11th, 2020. On 7/27/20, I was charged for the course. I emailed them regarding this, and Allen, a representative, told me I would not be getting a refund but they would let me take the course (that I just paid for) and not charge me in the future.
I am a pretty tech savvy person, and for me to not be able to properly cancel me account seems fraudulent at best. This is a scam, they will not let you cancel the 4 week trail and if you try, they will charge you anyway.
Desired Outcome
A full refund for the class I never took, never explored the curriculum, and canceled immediately.

On July 27 I was charged $199.95 for a 1 year subscription to their online service of which I did not approve. I am seeking a refund for that amount.
on july 27 I recieved a phone call from a sales rep from shaw academy, who I could barely understand. the nature of the call was unclear and seemed to be just an evaluation of my experience with the company. after the call ended I got a notification from paypal that I had been charged $199.95 for a year subscription, of which I did not knowingly approve. I immediately called shaw and started atempting to get a refund. This morning, July 31 at 6:42 am, I recieved an email from them saying that a refund would be inconveniant for them and that instead they would be willing to give me access to more material related to the chosen course. I do not want more material for the course, I want my account terminated and my money refunded.
my account was created and the course chosen as a free trial, of which I was planning on cancelling, early July.
my student account number is XXXXX.
the charge was made through my paypal account on July 27th for $199.95
the person I was able to get in contact with was Kristina Lundquist who I submitted the refund request through.
due to this charge and the fact that they dont respond to these complaints until 48 hours has passed *** in my checking acccount being charged and me getting an overdraft fee and my account showing my balance being -$90.
Desired Outcome
i would like for them to issue a refund for the listed amount and to terminate any further communication or transactions going forward.

Tried to cancel the course and get refunded during the free trial and stay away from this website.
I signed up for a bookkeeping 4 weeks free trial course around July 20' 2020 and have been asked to provide credit card information in advance.
Later on I decided to cancel the course since I experienced difficulty to access the course.
Through the phone a Student Guidance Manager, Emily D succeeded to have me stay on the course by offering a free toolkit and e-certificate to my profile and send me an email dated July XX XXXX confirming about our conversation.
On the second day of the course, it happened that accidentally e-certificate purchased button got pressed. Without any other pop up screen to let us know that we were about to make a purchase they just proceeded with the payment.
A few days later, I realized that the charges went through to my credit card statement history, so I called for a refund because what they offered as an e-certificate for free was fake, and instead they gave me the payment process that just went directly without any second chance for us to consider the purchase.
A support team name Hector generated a ticket #XXXXXXX for my complaint, July 28, through email and offered a 6 months access instead of giving me the refund.
Unfortunately I don't trust this website anymore and turned down the offer.
Desired Outcome
Refund $40

When I accidentally bought 2 toolkits, they would not refund the money, $40 is a lot to me. I didn't want the toolkits in the first place.
When I accidentally bought 2 toolkits, they would not refund the money, $80 is a lot to me. I did not want the toolkits in the first place. Their app is unsatisfactory, they have huge buttons that if you hit it you will automatically be charged. On a phone screen is was extremely hard to miss them since they cover the page.
I took this webinar/educational class so I could learn more about design. I am so anxious about the $80 I really need back. The information in the toolkits are kind of a joke. One is almost exactly what they are saying. I think they have lost their way in the education department.
I am on disability and am supporting my husband and myself. I do not make enough to have this happen. It's bad enough we are getting stir crazy. Everyone needs something to keep them busy. It's too bad that companies like Shaw Academy is one of the bad ones that are out for money. They never gave a lot of the participants the code for Adobe Apps to use for class. They kept saying it comes from Adobe, so I just wonder if Adobe is really involved.
So, I talked about myself, sorry, but you needed to know the situation. I can not let this go, I am very frustrated and upset about all of it. My depression/anxiety is going to the roof. Please make them work on the educational products or get out of the business and so no one else gets cheated.
Desired Outcome
First I would like a billing adjustment (refund of $80) for the toolkits would be great. The other stuff I didn't want I didn't even include. I also would like to see them have to pay everyone they cheated.

I signed up for Shaw Academy's "Free 4 Week Interior Design" course, but quickly changed my mind and asked them to cancel. I'm still being contacted.
I signed up for Shaw Academy's "Free 4 Week Interior Design" course, but quickly changed my mind and asked them to cancel. I submitted the account cancellation request online, then called the posted phone # XXX-XXX-XXXX and spoke with someone who said their name was Kheagan. After over four minute phone call in which she attempted numerous times to get me to agree to keeping my account, more "free" time, etc, she finally said she was cancelling it. I kept repeating to just cancel it, I wasn't interested in anything else and wouldn't answer any questions about why. After I received her email yesterday, I'm still being contacted. I am receiving emails, phone calls, and text messages about attending courses. I sent another email to someone named Neil and told him to make sure it was cancelled, but haven't heard back anything from him. I have kept all emails, track of when I am called or texted, as well as any voicemails and screenshots of text messages.
Desired Outcome
I want no other contact by Shaw Academy or any of their representatives, and they will not use any of my credit card information to falsely charge any fees or charges before or after the 4 week trial period is to expire. They do not have any authorization or permission to charge anything to my card.

I was charged $99 for a service that I did not authorize to my account and Shaw Academy refuses to refund me.
My husband and I were enrolled in the 4 week free trial and he received a phone call from someone who did not speak English clearly offering him a 3 month offer for another course WITHOUT being charged. He made it clear and repeated numerous times that he was not able to pay anything and before he could commit to anything he would have to speak to his wife first. He was told that we would get an email with more information to decide but my card was immediately charged $99 right after the call. When I saw the charge I reached out to Shaw immediately to receive a refund and reiterated that my husband did not agree to being charged for anything and he lost his job from COVID19 and I received a response that they would not be giving a refund but would make him a 'lifetime member.' I replied back that I wasn't interested in that and was demanding a refund and no one has yet responded. I've also been in contact with my bank to be refunded for the fraudulent charges.
I sent them an email on 7/24 and I received a response back from them on 7/25 from Norman, refusing to give me the refund. I responded back immediately on 7/25 and have not received a response back to date. Ticket #(#XXXXXXX)

Desired Outcome
Full refund of the $99 charged to the account and cancellation of his Shaw Academy Account. I have no interest in being a 'lifetime member' and don't want anything else to do with this company

I did not agree to a quarterly subscription so please process the refund.
BE CAREFUL when navigating in this site when you see ONE CLICK PURCHASE Promos ***
Specially in the MY COURSES page (https://skills.shawacademy.com/) when that has toolkit and cert promos with ONE CLICK purchase options placed SO CLOSE to your course list to trap you with any accidental click on by mistake..
On July 20, 2020, during our trail month, my kid fell trapped to above scenario. We contacted the customer service for past two weeks with multiple emails and tried hard to explain to cancel the accident transaction to refund the toolkit purchase ($39.95). It has been 10 days, no luck and given up my hopes, and I wanted share with you that they customer service is very poor and no way to get refunded (as some of reviews mentioned in this review blog).
***SO BE CAREFUL when navigating in this site when you see ONE CLICK PURCHASE Promos
I want my money refunded my account canceled and removed from your system completely
Hi ***,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you faced. However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase. Just in case a customer has failed to see that, we have also added a disclaimer on the banner itself. As far as we are concern we have upheld our part of the contract with you.
However as a goodwill gesture our support have already initiated a refund request which will be credited back to the source in next next 3-5 business days.

I want the money charged to my card for the $69.99 refunded back to my card.
Hi ***,

I want my membership cancelled and I want to feel confident my credit card won't be charged in a month. I also want them to change their advertising practices or honor them.

I want to unsubscribe to Shaw Academy but they have no option in their app and only thru emails which will take some time.
Hi ***,

problem with refund issues on the one-click payment screen that's almost impossible to avoid due to the pop-up screen that's shows up out of no where.

I do not want more material for the course, I want my account terminated and my money refunded.
my account was created and the course chosen as a free trial, of which I was planning on cancelling, early July.
my student account number is XXXXX.
the charge was made through my paypal account on July 27th for $199.95
the person I was able to get in contact with was Kristina Lundquist who I submitted the refund request through.
due to this charge and the fact that they dont respond to these complaints until 48 hours has passed *** in my checking acccount being charged and me getting an overdraft fee and my account showing my balance being -$90.
i would like for them to issue a refund for the listed amount and to terminate any further communication or transactions going forward.

Refund $40

I cancelled a free trial with them on May 5, 2020 which was well before my free trial ended. I have a confirmation email and they still charged me.
I started a free trial with Shaw Academy in April 2020. I cancelled the free trial by calling their customer service, as requested. I asked for a confirmation email. The email started that my trial had been cancelled and that I would not receive any additional charges. Today, almost 3 months later, they charged me $69 out of nowhere. I want my money back ASAP.

PLEASE do not be dishonest in your response. I had a 4 week trial period that I began on April 29,2020. I cancelled WELL WITHIN the trial period. I cancelled on MAY 5, 2020, as confirmed by an email from YOUR COMPANY to me. I have attached a screenshot for proof. Thank you for processing the refund, but I also need a refund of the INTERNATIONAL SERVICE FEE OF $2.10 charged by you. I disputed this with my bank, and they said you, the merchant, would have to refund this because the charge was initiated by you as well as the $69.99. Please refund BOTH.

First I would like a billing adjustment (refund of $80) for the toolkits would be great. The other stuff I didn't want I didn't even include. I also would like to see them have to pay everyone they cheated.

Shaw academy sent me a text message on July 26,2020, offer for a lifetime membership for $69. credit card charged but login details not received
Shaw academy charged me $69 and did not send me login details. Tried calling the number but received a busy tone every time. Emailed but I did not receive login details. Unable to contact this company to receive refund or login details. There is no way to reach them. I do not want them to charge my card again next month.
Refund and remove my credit card details from their system.

I want no other contact by Shaw Academy or any of their representatives, and they will not use any of my credit card information to falsely charge any fees or charges before or after the 4 week trial period is to expire. They do not have any authorization or permission to charge anything to my card.

Name on Account:
Full refund of the $99 charged to the account and cancellation of his Shaw Academy Account. I have no interest in being a 'lifetime member' and don't want anything else to do with this company
