I called Shaw academy in May 2020 to canceled a free subscription. Now 18jul2020 I have a charge of $69.99 that needs to be refunded ASAP
I signed up for a "free" subscription at Shaw Academy for photography classes. The site required my credit card info in order to sign up. The site stated " that In order to cancel any and all subscriptions, you must call." I signed up for this subscription on 17May2020. I decided that it wasn't for me and called in on 19May2020 @ 1510 est to cancel. I spoke to a customer service representative and he confirmed that any and all subscriptions were canceled and assured me that my card would not be charged. Now on 18Jul2020, Shaw Academy charged my credit card( two months later) with a charge of $69.99. I emailed them requesting my refund and was told they can't do nothing about it! I have been going back and forth via email with a customer service representative named "Aiden" (***@shawacademy.com). I canceled two months prior to this "monthly" charge. It doesn't make sense that two months later they would charge my credit card.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund from this business and another confirmation that all subscriptions were canceled as of 19May2020 and that they will NEVER bill me again.

Unsubscribed on June 1st during trial. They charged me $34.99 a week ago. I emailed to get a refund. Nothing has been done.
I signed up for a free trial of an online course from Shaw academy. I found out through social media that they do not have the best business practices, so I unsubscribed as soon as I could and was still in their trial. I got a confirmation email stating my subscription was canceled. On July 16th, they charged my PayPal account $34.99. I sent them an email asking them to refund the money. They sent an email back stating it should be resolved in 48 hrs. I started a dispute with PayPal and will also be doing one from my bank card. There was also an unknown charge to my bank card, which I will be disputing.
Desired Outcome
I would like my $34.99 refunded please.

Shaw advertised free trial lesson but will force people to click one-time click purchase link before you can move on to the actual class schedule.
Shaw advertised a 7 day free trial for all their online lessons. Right when I register, it confirms that I won't be charge the subscription fee till August 13, 2020. However, while going along the process of scheduling the classes, the website is forcing people to click a one-time click purchase link before it will route you to the actual schedule of the class. This is very deceitful and money grabber practice. I haven't even checked if the lessons are for me but they went ahead and charged my account. It won't have any pop up window where you need to confirm the charges either! If someone isn't aware of what's being clicked, they could up with hefty charges on their bill! I cancelled my account right away and the website didn't let me. I've literally have to go through 6 times of clicking "I want to cancel my subscription" before it routed me to a page where it wants me to call! Such a waste of time! When I finally called, the customer support isn't even helpful! I explained the situation and all she did is upsell some more! How they will give me a free toolkit! I expressly said I want to move forward with the cancellation of my account but that didn't happen. I was being asked to send an email to ***@shawacademy.com. I did send an email to no avail. NO response until now that they will cancel my account and they will refund the charge they put through my account. When I finally went to google to put some reviews, I've found out that there were so many people that went through exactly my situation!
Desired Outcome
I want to get my refund back and I want my account cancelled. I am never dealing with Shaw Academy ever again and I will make sure my family and friends are all aware of this. They are a total scam and money grabbers!

Hi ***,
We would like to apologize for your recent experience.
We see that you have purchased the Toolkit from the course page.
Having checked our records, we see that the refund has already been credited to your account and we have stopped the auto renewal on your account.
Shaw Academy does not clearly state that if a person clicks on certain areas of their site, that they will automatically be charged.
I was charged July 12th for $39.95 for clicking on a button on their site. There was no indication the button did anything, no payment confirmation, no notification that something had downloaded to my phone. Other buttons were listed with prices on this site but the button I clicked on did not list a price. This is a blatant attempt to confuse consumers and is false advertising. When I contacted the company's billing department by email, they stated that I cannot get my money refunded despite the fact I did not want the product that downloaded automatically to my phone and the fact that I did not intend to purchase or acquire any product. I had only signed up for a 30 day trial for their online graphic design course and I cancelled in 2 days on Jul 15th after reading many consumer complaints about their billing department. I was not charged for the trial since I cancelled before the 30 days was up but was charged a fee for a button I clicked on which they said was their e-certificate for the course. They said their fine print in the sign up process allows them to charge people for clicking on the button. I disagree since they try to confuse ppl by not listing a price on a button but prices on other buttons. Additionally, how is one supposed to accurately identify certain buttons and not others from reading their agreement since it would need to accurately descibe the color of the buttons. They also do not exhibit good will and good faith when I honestly told them I mistakenly clicked on it and do not want a certificate if I am just looking at the course with the trial version.
My student number with them is XXXXX
Desired Outcome
I want my $39.95 refunded.

I registered for a FREE online class in May 2020, which I canceled without completing and asked for my account and card details to be deleted. An email acknowledging my request and confirming that no charge will be placed on my card was sent to me. However, I noticed that a charge of $69.99 was taken from my card in June and another &69.99 in July.

Attempted cancelling within the free trial period, yet keep getting charged fees. Customer service has been extremely useless. I want a refund.
I have been going back and forth with Shaw Academy via email for 2 months now. A series of issues I have experienced are common looking at the complaints on Revdex.com. Attempt #1 to cancel my membership was on the 28th day of the free trial period - May 20; signed up on April 22. I got prompted to a page saying to call a number to confirm cancellation. I did multiple times, called within "support hours", but conveniently the phone call was automated "The person you are trying to call is not available, please try again later". I did and still nothing. I emailed them on May 20 and received an automated email acknowledging my cancellation request and someone will be in contact with me. I contacted other listed phone numbers of theirs but seem to be out of service or invalid. The same day, I checked my bank account and $69.99 was posted that day. In order for the amount to be posted, they would have charged my account a couple days prior to my free trial expiration. It takes a few days for an "authorized" transaction to become a "posted" transaction. This is common knowledge. My partner who works for the bank I bank with also said this. I contacted them about this, as well as a charge of $34.95 posted on my bank statement on April 23. I have received countless emails on their marketing end to purchase this or that, with no intention of purchasing anything. I never realized by clicking an email to view tool kits, etc, without clicking "buy" I would be charged $34.95? After emailing about $34.95 & $69.99 charges and telling them to cancel my account, I received no email back. I look at my junk folder and the email is there. It says I have to forward the email to ***@shawacademy.com to cancel my membership and I did. By this time I have received another charge onto my account of $69.99 posted on June 17, a total of $174.93. WHY is it impossible to cancel my membership? I emailed back about this and their response was to give me a lifetime membership for "free". I didn't want this, I wanted my $174.93 refunded and membership CANCELLED, not extended to lifetime access. I replied back again. Every time I reply, a new representative repeatedly ignores my actual request and sends automated marketing content. Even after my "free" lifetime membership was granted, I received ANOTHER posted charge of $69.99 on July 15, totalling to $244.92 in charges!! Will this continue each month? I emailed again about this and the response was "Hi ______, Thanks for reaching out to us again! Having checked our records, I could see that you're a Lifetime member of Shaw Academy. The Lifetime Membership has been offered free for you. The lifetime membership is just one-time payment and you do not have to pay anything extra for courses. The lifetime membership has the following benefits:Unlimited Access to All Courses(Both Foundation and Advanced modules)Interactive Live Webinars & Recordings in HDWeekly Assignments & QuizzesPremium support round the clockNote: The additional resources (Toolkits), E-certificates and Hard copy diploma are available at an additional fee.If you wish to continue further, We're happy to enable FREE E-certificate, Toolkit, and Hard copy diploma for 1 complete course instead of a refund. If you wish to accept the offer, please provide us with the course name that you would like to get qualified? So that we can enable the offer kit in your account. If you have any questions, please just ask.Your Friendly Neighborhood Shaw Academy Support Team.Kind Regards,Shane"
How do I have FREE lifetime access yet charged again the other day? This is by far the worst customer service I've received and a giant pain dealing with this for 2 months now. I don't want "free" things just to be charged each month instead of issuing a simple refund. I just want my $244.92 refunded. I am frustrated these issues are clearly not being resolved, charges keep happening and money is just being thrown out on something I attempted to cancel during my free-trial.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund of my $244.92 or all of the money charged onto my account.

Yes I accept the refund of $244.92
I was charged for a free trial and when I called for a refund they denied me for invalid reasons.
I signed up on 7/7/20 for a free 4 week trial. I scheduled 2 online classes and started exploring the website. Within the hour, my PayPal account was charged the full amount of $69.99. I immediately went to my account and tried to cancel. I was unable to do this online and needed to call the company. They told me they would cancel my account but I needed to email the billing dept to get a refund. Later I checked my account and my subscription has a cancel date of Feb 2021 instead of immediately. The billing dept said they cannot refund me because I manually opened module #1. However, in the FAQ section of their website, it states that you are able to access all modules during the free trial. This company has lost their accreditation yet still advertise that they are accredited online. There are numerous complaints logged on trustpilot and other I found an online group specifically meant for complaints about this company, I have filed a dispute with PayPal for unauthorized charges and I have blocked their company from further charges. What I want now is a refund and my information wiped out of their records. They never should have charged me during my free trial yet they did, within hours of my activation. They said the modules were included in the free trail, but they lied and say they won't refund me now. This company is scamming people and stealing their money for something they claim is free. And they are promoting an accreditation that is false. They need to be shut down and stopped from stealing from more people.
Desired Outcome
I have asked for a full refund. I have disputed their charge on PayPal and am waiting for their dispute resolution.

Following the complaint Shaw academy has refunded the full amount. I'm very pleased with the resolution. And happy to have the case closed.
signed up for this service on 12/12/20, with my cc. after reviewing the material, I called and cxl the membership 10 mins later and was still charged.
After signing up for this 'membership',on 6/12/20 and gaining access to the site, I quickly realized that was not what I was looking for, so I called the customer service number that was on the site, talked to a rep. she cancelled the membership and sent me a cancellation confirmation and told me that I would not be charged. Fast forward to 7/10/20, there was a charge on my card of $69.99. I emailed customer service to dispute, but received an response that I did not cancel in time (signed up and cancelled membership on the same day) and they would not refund my money. I sent them a 'Revocation of authorization for debits' letter and notified my bank not to honor any debit authorizations from this company. This has scam written all over it. I want a complete refund of my money. I have attached the cancellation confirmation email that I received from them to this complaint.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking the return of the unauthorized $69.99 that was debited from my account, after I cancelled the same day that I signed up for this service. I did log any of the classes, because after signing up for the free trial, I quickly realized this is not want I needed.

I signed up for the 30-day free trial period and got charged for a Quarterly Subscription without my consent while there are 2 weeks left in the trial
I signed up for the 30-day free trial period at July 2nd using my paypal account email ***@umn.edu. On July 16th, someone self-claimed Shaw Academy UK academic advisor call me and ask about my experience. He tries to speak me into buying some products but I have made it clear that I will not buy anything or signing up for anything. After the call, my Paypal account got charged 100$ for a Quarterly Subscription that I do not agree to signing. I sent an email to Shaw Academy and they change my account into a lifetime membership instead of refunding my money. I don't need the membership and I sent them back another email but haven't heard from them since then. I contacted Paypal and they cannot file a dispute because Shaw Academy didn't send me any email stating that I'm having a 30-day free trial period with them. I want Revdex.com to process my case and refunding back my money ASAP because I need it for college tuition.

Shaw Academy did not refund me for a "toolkit" I never received the download for. The product didn't download, and I provided a screenshot.
On July 11th, I signed up for a Free Trial of Shaw Academy's online Web Design Course that includes learning HTML, CSS and Java. Certain parts of their terms were not disclosed upfront before accepting the trial until you could access the FAQs, such as that I'd have to choose specific dates and hours to take my courses, that there would be costs for toolkits which they claim help students perform better and include the instructor's slides (yet they don't mention either that you can re-watch the recording of the class as many time as you want when buying the toolkit), the cost of e-certificates for each module or that the diploma itself costs $119 and the cost charged after the trial is $69. Had I known about the some of these details, I wouldn't have signed up for the "Free Trial".
After signing up, since I read that most students who don't buy the toolkit don't perform as well as the students who buy a toolkit for the modules, I decided to buy a toolkit for $39.95. The first time I purchased a toolkit, I was immediately charged in my bank account for $39.95, but the download (I included a screenshot to their billing and customer service departments) had just funny looking letters and numbers and there was no download. I would click the download button, and nothing would download. I tried repurchasing, and was charged again for $39.95 and did receive a normal downloaded toolkit as one would expect. However, Shaw Academy is refusing to refund me for the toolkit that didn't work, even though it is obvious there is only one toolkit in my course section, not two. And, you can still see the funny characters listed on the download in my profile where the downloads were to take place. Their refusal to refund me is the primary reason for my complaint.
However, I would warn anyone considering Shaw Academy not to sign up. They practically abused my text, Messenger and email by sending me at least 10 or more messages a day either reminding me of course materials available, class times, drawings, sales, discounts on the diplomas which cost $119 when the course is over, and they would have spammed my Whatsapp too but never connected with it for some reason.
My experience with Shaw Academy was that the coursework was mostly outdated. A lot of the courses available are up to a year to two year's old. There are not that many courses to choose from, and their primary habit and goal seems to be inundating the user with spam to sell their extras or their products and services. It is, to me, a sign that they are not having much luck with sustaining a healthy amount of current, consistent curriculum for students of the academy.
I must admit that I am disappointed that I can't take the particular course. But, when I tried to cancel, they didn't make it easy. I had to call them on the phone with a PIN to access someone to talk to about the refund and cancellation, they told me they would cancel my course but go ahead and give me two free months anyways. They told me they would escalate my billing issue regarding the refund but that I would need to contact billing separately because otherwise I wouldn't hear back from billing. This was Kaytlin P that I spoke with for the initial cancellation call on July 17th. So, I emailed billing while on the phone with her. The cancellation email she sent to me had an offer that I was supposed to respond as Satisfied or Not Satisfied and then I told her I didn't want anymore free months or anything more from Shaw Academy, and I chose Not Satisfied. She said that was fine. She said my account had been successfully canceled.
The response from Thomas in billing was frustrating because it was as if he didn't even look at my screenshots or read the email I sent. He said in the email that sometimes people accidentally purchase something twice, and their policy does not allow them to refund for instances such as that. I wrote back frustrated as can be at this point. I have not heard back. Account still active!
Desired Outcome
I would like for Shaw Academy to:
1) Provide the obviously deserved refund to my account for the failed download for $39.95 (see screenshots)
2) Confirm for certain that my account is closed out and will not be charged for anything further
3) Confirm that Shaw Academy will stop sending me any further information at all from them on any of my devices
4) Provide a contact that I can follow-up with email/phone until the refund is processed in my bank account

I signed up for the "free" 30 day membership. I cancelled on week 2 of my membership. I then noticed I was charged $33 for the month.
I signed up for the free 30 day membership on April 2020. I cancelled my membership on April 15, well within the 30 day requirement for cancellation. I then noticed on 7/7/20 that I was charged $33/month for the membership. I went back to their website to cancel again. I then found that not only do you have to cancel online via their website, you then had to call a number in England. I called the number and spent 15 minutes going from one pitch to the next begging me to stay via automated system. Every time you try to cancel, they say, press 2 or 3, it then takes you to another automated message trying to convince you to stay. At no point was I able to speak to a human. I submitted my complaint online stating that I had cancelled my membership within the stipulated 30 day window. I received an email 1 week later stating that I had not properly cancelled my membership and would not be receiving a refund.
This is a total scam.
Desired Outcome
I wish to receive a refund of the charges of $66 made to my account.

The've took money from my bank account without my consent & authority. I don't even use their site or any tool kit but they took money from me.
They took money from my bank account without my consent and knowlegde about the payment that I don't even remember I have a paying bills from them. This happened when I saw their ads on my social media acc. promoting a month free trial, I registered to them by the month of march 2020 during my quarantine periods without knowing the financial crisis it will be brought to myself. When I decided to cancel the subscription due to my own time constrains I feel at ease that I will not be paying anymore. Without my knowledge they took money from my bank account amounting to $40 or 2000 pesos (Philippine currency) for a four month consecutive. I only discovered their unnoticed fraudulent act when I balanced my card, then only that time I discovered they took money from me without my consent. I have a proof of payment receipt that I got from their site. I've tried to have a refund from them but they don't answer me clearly I just got a lifetime membership wherein in fact I want a full refund from my money they have took from me unwillingly and unknowingly.
Desired Outcome
I just want a full refund of my money that they have took without my consent. It the removal of my personal details from their system especially the bank details so that I will be in peace that they will be no longer have access to my bank details and other personal information.

I have already received my refund from shaw academy which is my desire from the beginning why I submitted my complain. This satisfy my self as I have received my money. I expressed my gratefulness towards the action you took.
I applied for a free 4-week course in Marketing and was only able to access one class.
I applied to do a free course in Marketing and was only able to log into one class. After that, I could not gain access to the website to do the other classes. I tried to reset my password *** times to no avail. I logged a report with PayPal for the return of my funds and I also sent in a complaint via the Contact link on their website.
I got a response from them this morning (20th July 2020) Please see attached. They mentioned that I did not cancel the subscription but I could not as I can't gain access to my account. Even after resetting the password *** times.
I just want my funds returned to me

I want a full refund from this business and another confirmation that all subscriptions were canceled as of 19May2020 and that they will NEVER bill me again.
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

I want to get my refund back and I want my account cancelled. I am never dealing with Shaw Academy ever again and I will make sure my family and friends are all aware of this. They are a total scam and money grabbers!

I want my $39.95 refunded.

I accept the company's refund to my card upon my request since I accidentally clicked on a button and was not aware anything was downloaded.
I signed up for a FREE online class in May 2020,which I canceled before completing but my card has been debited a total of $139.98 and need a refund.
Find an attached email from your organization acknowledging and confirming that my card will not be charged.
Kindly get Shaw Academy to reverse these charges.

Kindly refund the $139.98 charged on my card.

I have asked for a full refund. I have disputed their charge on PayPal and am waiting for their dispute resolution.

An unauthorized charge was processed on my credit card by Shaw Academy for services I didn't purchased and they refused to refund my money.
They took money from my account twice without my authorisation of £49.99 and £39.95 on the 14/07/2020 for a service I never purchase.
I have contacted the company severally seeking to get my money back but instead they stopped responding to my emails and refused to refund me. I want a full refund of £89.94. Please kindly see attached proof of payment.

I am seeking the return of the unauthorized $69.99 that was debited from my account, after I cancelled the same day that I signed up for this service. I did log any of the classes, because after signing up for the free trial, I quickly realized this is not want I needed.

I do not accept this lame response. I cancelled the membership/trial period the SAME DAY I signed up for it (actually it was within 10 minutes) so please explain, how I did not cancel the membership in time?????I called that customer service number and spoke to a representative who cancelled it and sent an email confirming that the membership was cancelled (attachment of that cancellation was sent to Revdex.com and to the customer service email address as an attachment. I want the entire membership cancelled as I will never use this company or recommend this company to anyone. And I want all of my information deactivated from your records, along with my refund.
I have attached the cancellation email again, just in case you need to see it again.

I want a refund for unauthorized charge.
canard this service within the trial period and continue to get charged. I've written, called and even contacted my bank. They refuse to refund and have initiated other charges. They do acknowledge that my account has been canceled.
I want a refund for the amount charged.

I've received multiple emails from Shaw Academy claiming a refund is coming- then they say there is an issue with my card and that they won't refund. I've confirmed with my credit card company there is not Any issue and in fact was reviled as recently as 7/13/2020. This company is fraudulent and I will be escalating this to the New Hampshire Attorney General's office. The office already has several pending cases. I want a refund and I would like it when they say they are issuing it. This photo shows the most recent (rebill) on my account and zero refunds, second photo is correspondence with company.
Hi ***,
We have reviewed your account and would like to inform you that the previous two refund transaction were declined by your bank due to the dispute you logged against Shaw Academy. Please contact you bank and retract the dispute and update us, so we can have another refund initiated.

My credit card company disputes this statement. I've contact them three times and be told there is no issue on their end holding up a refund. Please send me a physical check to my address on file.
Hi ***,
The attached file is the proof of we trying to refund and the payment declined by your bank. Please contact your bank and update us once the issue is resolved so we can initiate another refund request.

They billed me for service I cancelled. No response to refund requests.
After requesting membership be canceled during the free trial, they still billed me $69.99, and haven't responded to multiple emails, all of their listed phone numbers are disconnected. The charge is showing as a recurring payment, I do not want to charged for this in the future and want a refund for the previous charge.
I would like a refund of the billed amount.

Thanks and best regards
I want a total refund of 100$ to my Paypal account ***@umn.edu and delete the lifetime membership account that I don't need.

False advertisement on FB and landing page. Incorrectly charged my card and will not give refund.
A bit over a month ago they advertised free courses on Facebook. I clicked on it and it took me to some page to sign up. There it changed to only one month of free course, please enter your card number, but they will send a reminder e-mail prior to charging the card. They did not send a reminder e-mail. They charged my card. I asked for a refund SEVERAL times and they do NOT give a refund. I have not used their services AT ALL. This is false advertisement and rip-off.
Refund. No more false advertisement and false promises on sign-up page.

I would like for Shaw Academy to: 1) Provide the obviously deserved refund to my account for the failed download for $39.95 (see screenshots) 2) Confirm for certain that my account is closed out and will not be charged for anything further 3) Confirm that Shaw Academy will stop sending me any further information at all from them on any of my devices 4) Provide a contact that I can follow-up with email/phone until the refund is processed in my bank account

I just want a full refund of my money that they have took without my consent. It the removal of my personal details from their system especially the bank details so that I will be in peace that they will be no longer have access to my bank details and other personal information.
