I cancled my subscription before the trial period ended and they still took money from my account.
I only had the trial for about a day befor I realized it was a scam and cancled my subscription, yet on the 20th of July they took $69.99, tthe amount for the subscription, from my account. I contacted them immediately when I realized to get a refund. I cannot afford this right now with this pandemic! They refused saying that I didn't cancel, but I went through like 9 pages of " are you sure you want to cancle" before it said it did. Please help I really red that money back.
Desired Outcome
I just want the money back and for them to confirm to NEVER take money from me again. This is the 2nd time they have taken money from me.

Began a 4 week free trial that I subsequently cancelled within a week. 2 months later received a $70 charge, and was told I couldn't receive a refund
I began a 4 week free trial with Shaw Academy for a photography course on/about May 12th. On May 19th, I received confirmation via email of cancellation of my subscription. On July 20th, my debit card was charged $69.99 from Shaw Academy for membership. The following day, I emailed service requesting a refund. On July 21st, I was told via email by customer service that my refund could not be processed because "Cancellation was not attempted prior to billing due date," despite the fact that I attempted and successfully completed cancellation 1 week into a 4 week free trial.
Desired Outcome
I would like Shaw Academy to cease their predatory billing practices that have been clearly and repeatedly documented. It's disturbing enough in an isolated incident, but the fact that this type of behavior has been frequently noted both in casual message boards and in a more formal context like Revdex.com complaints leads me to believe Shaw Academy never had any intention of treating their consumers as anything other than people to take advantage of.

Hi ***,
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that our support team have already initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.
I don't have an account or any correspondence from Shaw Academy but still have had £50 withdrawn. Company aren't responding to my emails.
Really deflating.
Shaw academy have charged me £50 despite my not holding an account with them, having no log in details or having ever accessed any content from them. I have no email correspondence confirming a subscription or payment plan.
I've been working in intensive care throughout the COVID pandemic and saw an advert on social media for a photography course. I clicked the link as I was interested in finding out more but never got to the point of enrolling (having found unsurprisingly that I am now very low on free time). I was shocked to see the transactions on my bank statement and stopped them immediately. I reached out directly to shaw academy to see if they could rectify things but no response. I then commented on one of their Instagram posts asking for help but my comments were deleted.
My funds were removed without my consent and with no personal gain.
I immediately emailed Shaw Acadamy's billing authority as advised in their reply but despite their timely response to my trust pilot review they have not yet given me any feedback.
Desired Outcome
Full refund and written agreement not to withdraw any further money from me.

Hi ***,
We have reviewed your complaint and your account as well. We noticed that you signed up with us on 20 May. We would also like to bring to your attention that the amount that has been debited from your account is for auto renewal of the course since you failed to cancel your account within the trial period. The auto renewal process is clearly mentioned in the terms and condition that you initially agreed to. we request you to email us at ***@shawacademy.com for further assistance.
False advertising and click bait marketing designed to scam customers.
This company advertises a free 28 day trial in which "No credit card or payment details are required for the free trial" (Photo attached). This claim is completely false, as I was required to input credit card/PayPal information in order to register for the free trial (7/21/20). The website and app are littered with "one-click purchase" bait marketing features designed to charge the customer instantly without any review or consent to purchase. I was curious what Diploma/Certification I would receive upon completion of the course I was interested in. In an effort to VIEW the "diploma" to see what it looked like and verify authenticity, I was instantly charged $59.95 (via PayPal) for clicking on the advertisement. I had not even received a Welcome email regarding my registration, course material/instructions, or even begun a lesson, yet I was charged for the "Hard Copy Diploma" to be mailed to me upon completion of the course! RIDICULOUS! I immediately (7/21) emailed ***@Shawacademy.com requesting a refund and membership cancellation, ticket #XXXXXXX. Paddie's response (7/22) did not resolve my issues. Instead of refunding my money and canceling my account as I requested, Paddie offered me discounts and a "$150 credit" for additional purchases and "activated them in my account". Paddie's response also claimed "once the E-certificate is activated in your account...we will not be able to process the refund as per the terms and conditions". Firstly, I never purchased an E-certificate. Secondly, I have not started the course, nor will I, so a "Hard Copy Diploma" is not necessary. 7/22 I decided to cancel my membership myself and was instructed to call (XXX)XXX-XXXX, spoke to Nicole. She had Pop music playing so loudly in the background I could hardly hear her speak. Very unprofessional! She asked for my permission to record the call for quality assurance, I agreed, and asked to cancel my membership. Nicole questioned my reasoning and tried to salvage the deal by offering me a longer "free membership". I bluntly expressed my dissatisfaction with their customer service and disgust for their scam-like practices and click bait marketing scheme. After some debate Nicole agreed to cancel my membership, but I have no written proof of that being done. When I asked her about processing the refund, she told me she is unable to assist and I need to contact the billing dept, whom I've already requested a refund from. She said there is no telephone number for the billing dept. On 7/21 I disputed the $59.95 charge with my Bank, and made Shaw Academy "inactive" in PayPal so they can not charge me again. 7/22 I responded to Paddie's response demanding a refund and promising a report to the Revdex.com. Photos of email correspondence are attached. Shaw Academy is a scam!! It is outrageous that a company would take advantage of consumers during this pandemic climate, as we are trying to further our skill-set and become gainfully employed. Their tactics are disgusting!!!
Desired Outcome
Refund of my $59.95, and written verification that my "free membership" has been cancelled.

I am not taking your course, and have cancelled my trial membership, therefore I do not need a Hard Copy Diploma. I clicked on your "one-click purchase" bait marketing by mistake in an effort to view the document, never intending to make a purchase. Why would I purchase a Diploma when I have yet to register for course or attend a single lesson?
Your company has a history and Revdex.com rating that reflects poor customer service, difficulty canceling "free memberships" resulting in continual charges, and strategically placed "one click" bait marketing which are hard to avoid, and are misleading to consumers.
Please return my $59.95 for a Diploma that I mistakenly purchased as I will not be completing any of your courses.

I have purchased learning materials and a e-certifcate for a bookkeeping class. The class doesn't work in any manner. I asked for a refund due to it.
I have a problem with this organization since July 20th 2020. I noticed when it was time for my classes it would not allow me to click into the course and learn along. I tried it 3 separate time and the same result. I emailed ***@shawacademy.com and spoke to Thomas and George and all they offered me was 4 free months and 199 dollars worth of courses. Considering I only came to this orgamization for one specific course in bookkeeping I dont find those very helpful if the entire course does not allow me to work. Not only does the course not work but the purchased material does not even work. It just tells me this weeks material coming soon and its still not here. All I requested was a refund of the ecertificate and the learning materials for this course since the course is faulty and doesn't allow me to do what I came for. They told me it was due to it being a new course but you would consider they would try to work the kinks out before uploading a course that doesn't work.
Desired Outcome
The only resolution I am looking for is the refund of $79.90 credited back to the credit card I used on file.

I am looking for a refund for a course that was cancelled on the day I registered and for a package I cancelled by email within an hour of purchase
I registered for a course and when completing the registration, I must have checked a box in error and it would not allow me to unselect it. Since this was the case, and finding no place to cancel I immediately emailed to cancel both the course and the package I did not want. Their response was that the 30 days had lapsed and they did not owe me any money. This of course was not the case, I cancelled within one day of registering. The package is very troublesome because first I should have been able to cancel it in the registration package. I felt the responsible thing was to immediately send an email to cancel.

Money taken from account despite subscription cancellation within timeframe
I joined Shaw Academy on either 8th/9th May. I watched my first "class" on 14th May from XX:XX-XX:XX. After sifting through multiple pages trying to get me to buy materials, certificates, more classes etc it didn't feel right to me.
I tried to find a way to cancel on the website but this option isn't available and they had a number to call instead - XXXX XXX XXXX. I spoke to a lady who confirmed that my account had been cancelled. I went on my online account to check afterwards and it had highlighted in red that the subscription had been cancelled.
Fast forward to 15th July and I've had £49.99 taken from my account and the number I previously called is no longer available.
I've left a negative Trust Pilot review which says that I didn't cancel within the 30 day trial which is false. My cancellation call was on 14th May at 13:54.
Desired Outcome
A refund of £49.99, my bank details and personal details removed from their system.

Refund received. Revdex.com your service is excellent! Thank you.
Tricked into buying a non-refundable toolkit.
I was on the website on my cell phone (because I couldn't even find the course (Professional Creative Writing) on the app) about to join my first class on July 16th. As I went to press the 'join class's button, a pop up ad showed up in the same spot for a $45.99 toolkit for the course which you could buy with one click...which I ended up doing solely because the 'one click buy' button was in the same spot as the 'join class' button on the actual site and it happened so quickly I didn't have time to stop. I only realized what had happened when I received an email from PayPal, detailing what I had "purchased". I reached out to their billing department and was told that because it was downloadable material and available immediately, they couldn't issue a refund. They offered me a "credit to the value of $199 which can be used for 3 months of free access plus a toolkit for this course, your 3 remaining module E-certificates, and 1 hard copy diploma."
Sounds great, except I have tried to attend classes and none of them even happen. The webinar ends the moment it opens. I received an email telling me they had credited my account but I don't know for how much and it's only to spend at Shaw academy. I am not happy with this service at all and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The fact that they have a pop up ad that works like it does seems scammy. I didn't choose to spend money on Shaw academy. I was doing a free trial, I haven't liked anything about it so far and now they havey money and won't give it back. I feel tricked.
Desired Outcome
I am asking for a full refund (of $45.99) to my PayPal account (not a credit to my Shaw Academy account).

Hi ***,
We are very sorry for the inconvenience you faced. However we would also like to bring it to you attention that you have accepted the terms and conditions which clearly indicated about the one-click non refundable purchase. Just in case a customer has failed to see that, we have also added a disclaimer on the banner itself. As far as we are concern we have upheld our part of the contract with you.
Well that being said we would also like to inform you that your account has been deactivated and a refund has been initiated which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.
I was unlawfully billed, without my consent. I was charged £239.90, despite being in a free-trial period and not upgrading my membership.
Initially, I was charged £39.95 for a Module Toolkit for my share trading course. This is because a window popped up asking me to purchase it. I minimised the window, yet I was informed straight away that the purchase had been completed. I was tricked completely. I e-mailed the support team who agreed to credit my account £199.95 as a way of apologising. Because of this I did not take the issue any further. However, I was not credited with any of this money, and none of my other module toolkits and e-certificates had been unlocked as promised.
In addition to this, last week I was charged £199.95 for a 1 Year Premium Membership, despite currently being in a free trial period which ends on the 29th of July 2020. I did not upgrade my membership and I did not give permission for it to be upgraded. I submitted three complaints for this via: "***@shawacademy.com" and "***@shawacademy.com". The only reply I recieved informed me that I could not be refunded since I upgraded my membership (I definitely didn't). The reference numbers for all three complains are as follows. Through, "***@shawacademy.com": #XXXXXXX and #XXXXXXX. Through, "***@shawacademy.com": #XXXXXXX.
I was scammed out of £239.90 and would like a full refund. The payment method was VisaDebit.
The purchase date for the module toolkit (£39.95) was 08/07/19.
The purchase date for the 1 year membership (£199.95) was 16/07/20.
Desired Outcome
I wish to obtain a full refund (£239.90) for the money that was taken without my consent.

Refused a refund initially and only after persistent emails did they refund.
I unknowingly signed up to Shaw Academy. I wished I had done some research. Only a simple Google search is needed to discover all is not right with this outfit. I signed up for a trial and stupidly gave my payment card details. Having never used the platform during the trial period, after signing up I don't think I even signed in once. The trial period expired and they took a payment from my account. I emailed them stating that I had'nt used their services and had not intention of using it going forward. It may have been a simple oversight but I believed I was within my rights to request a refund. They point blank refused, replying with an email quoting their terms and conditions. I continued to pursue this as I felt that I UK consumer law entitled me to a full refund within a certain period of time. It took me many attempts to eventually gain a refund including messaging their CEO via Linkedin, emailing their CEO, messaging via social media.
In taking this money and the initial refusal to refund has caused unnecessary distress and has taken considerable time to pursue the refund.
I believe that if I hadn't had pursued this as I did, I wouldn't have been successful in getting a refund. I feel that there are likely people that have fallen foul of this company and perhaps didn't continue to pursue them for a refund. There are many, many complaints against Shaw Academy and I felt it nessesary to inform whatever authority about my experience and the unscrupulous practices of Shaw Academy.
Desired Outcome
I would like them to remove all my details from their servers immediately.

I am satisfied with the company's response
Shaw academy has continually charged my credit card after I cancelled my trial account with them, and is now unresponsive.
I signed up for a free student trial membership for a photography course with Shaw Academy in March, 2020. I did not end up having time for the classes. After jumping through many hoops within their online portal in an attempt to cancel my trial membership before my card was cancelled, I reached a page which stated I must call a number to cancel. I called the number and there was no answer. So, I contacted Shaw Academy via email where I provided my student number and requested to cancel my membership before my card was charged. I received a reply from Shaw Academy the same day saying my account will be cancelled.
A few months go by and in July, 2020 after reviewing bank statements, I realize Shaw Academy has been charging my card $59 per month since April. Once again, I contacted them, referring to the same email where they stated my account had been cancelled. After a week, I have not heard back from them. There is phone number listed anywhere on there website to contact them at.
Desired Outcome
I need a refund for 4 months of $59.99 charges and for Shaw Academy to never charge my card again.

I signed up for a free trial session but haven't participated in any and I didn't purchased any toolkit but automatically charged to my credit card
As mentioned above, Shaw Academy consistently charged me the amount of 500Php for several months.
I have emailed them regarding my concern and got their response that they couldn't refund any charges made however I was expecting that they would stop from charging automatically but still been charged for 3 consecutive months after.
Desired Outcome
Discontinue and full cancelation of subscription or whatever to stop those charges am not using

Do not waste your time.
Shaw Academy is the worst thing to invest your time/money in. I was charged for two months after I canceled my membership and can't get any of it back. The classes were a joke, I didn't learn anything or have any assignments to help me learn. I would attend class and still receive an email saying I missed my class. They just want your money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH SHAW ACADEMY!!!!!!!!!!!
Desired Outcome
Just refund my two payments of $69.99.

Failed to issue a refund after numerous attempts to contact them.
I cancelled my account the day before the free trial period was over. Next day I looked and PayPal had been charged $69.99. Emailed them to get refund and they refused. I don't buy that. I did some digging and they have done this to a whole lot of people. There is even a facebook page about them being a scam with thousands of members. I will link attached emails I sent and received.
Desired Outcome
I would like my refund of $69.99

Shaw Academy charged my BEFORE the free trial ends,as your website and contract instructed and that's not fair at all because I didn't like the course and didn't want to continue pay for something useless. You all didn't even give me a chance to cancel it. Instead, you took out money of my account unlawfully. You have broken the contract by charging me the full course amount BEFORE the month was up. I will take this matter further if you continue to refuse to give me my full money back as you have broken the contract, not me. I look forward for your response. Thank you.

I registered for a free trial media manager class. I then called to cancel right away. Then after 2 months or so I was charged $70 for a membership.
I registered for a free trial for a media manager class may 13. I figured then I wouldn't have time to do it so I cancelled it over the phone with Nicole. She said Thank you for your time earlier today. As mentioned on the phone your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled.
We appreciate you came to us with serious goals and we want to do all that we can to help during these challenging times. What we would like to do now is to give you an additional two months totally free of charge. There will be no recurring charges thereafter. There are no strings. Just two months totally free of charge as a thank you to you and to help you achieve your goals. Kind regards,

Then July 15th I was charged $70 for a membership. I emailed for a refund and Samuel from Shaw replied: I have personally reviewed your account and found the following details:
The subscription has been initiated as 4-week free trial.
It was not cancelled during the trial period, so the payment was processed.
These terms are stated and accepted before account creation.T&C please see section 4 and 5.
We are unable to process subscription refunds unfortunately after the trial expiry, as per the terms and conditions.
However, we can confirm your membership is cancelled thus ensuring no further payments will be processed.
We are also providing you with 6-months access totally free of charge worth of $399, the least we can do is ensure you benefit from our professional certifications, so we can turn this unfortunate event in to a neutral, if not positive immediately. You will be able to complete the courses you initially joined and many other courses.
Ridiculous. I see this company has done it many times and would like my money back. Thank you.

Of course when I see that the money has been put back in my account then I will consider it resolved. Again I don't know why they just couldn't be honest and know that I did what I said I did. They continue to push and try to give you other things you don't ask for. I guess that's the business. Thank you for getting it resolved.
Normally apps and services you hire through internet let you unsubscribe easily. Their system makes you go through many steps and call at work hours.
I tried to unsubscribe during the weekend, you can't do it because you need to call them at your own work hours. This is made on purpose and you should cancel as easy as you can subscribe. For me this creates lack of good intentions.
Desired Outcome
I expect a refund and for them to change their system of cancellation that it is deceiving and also that courses can be accessed at any time.

Shaw Academy uses a computer system to answer the phone. In the app it tells you that you can only cancel the service by calling that numbers on 9 to 5 hours that are any person's work hours to talk with a computer. It makes you a lot of questions like in the app giving you deals. It is abisive and annoying and if someone wants to leave it has its reasons, so why make it tedious? They charge a lot of money and during their courses they always talk about the 3,6 and 12 months subscription using a lot of the time. Other platformas are more transparent and let you learn at your pace.
Now they are sending an email to solve a very easy thing that is an unsubscription and return of money.

I only had the trial for about a day befor I realized it was a scam and cancled my subscription, yet on the 20th of July they took $69.99, tthe amount for the subscription, from my account. I contacted them immediately when I realized to get a refund. I cannot afford this right now with this pandemic!

Full refund and written agreement not to withdraw any further money from me.

Refund of my $59.95, and written verification that my "free membership" has been cancelled.
Hi ***, We are extremely sorry for the unpleasant experience with us, We have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged for the purchase (Course Hard Copy Diploma) made via our one-click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non-refundable charge hence we would not be able to refund that amount, Our intention was not to upset you in any way.
With Regards,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Hi ***, We are extremely sorry for the unpleasant experience with us, But as per our records the amount ofUSD 59.95 has been credited from our end to your Paypa account on 25-Jul-XXXX XX:XX with the Transaction *** the payment should reflect in your respected account in 3-5 workings days for the days of refund.

I would like them to remove all my details from their servers immediately.
Hi ***,
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We have reviewed your account as well as gone through your complaint. We also want you to be aware that we do not charge customers based on the their usage but this is subscription based service. We that being said we would also like to inform you that your account has been deactivated and your payment details have been deleted. You profile with us will be deleted completely within 30 days.

I want my money back as I didn't use the service at all
£120 back to me
Hi ***,
We have reviewed your account and would like to inform you that on 2 March when you requested to cancel your account with our support team. they had advised you follow the standard cancellation process (In order to cancel you will need to go into your member's area and select 'My Profile' and then 'Memberships & Payments' and follow the process.).
Since you failed to do this the account was auto renewed and charged. However as a goodwill gesture we have initiated the refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.

I would like my refund of $69.99

I signed up for a free trial with Shaw Academy. Since I didn't like the course, I set up a reminder to cancel as I was not up with my 4 weeks of free trial. But something unexpected happened and I was charged 2 days before the trial ends. I would like to request my money back bc I'm very unhappy with happened.

Kind regards,
Nicole K
Student Guidance Manager
Thank you.
I seek a full refund plus an apology for being dishonest and playing games with me.
