I was charged 3 days after I joined the academy which said 4 weeks free and no charge till after 4 weeks. I cancelled on the 16 after I joined.
I already didn't have any money left because of covid I lost what little income I did have for me and my kids. I emailed billing about my refund and they telling me they can't refund my money.

This company is a complete scam they took out money from my daughters account and make it impossible to cancel, they are refusing to refund the amount
My daughter signed up for a trial with this company after the trial was up they made it impossible to cancel , they then took money from her account of 49 on 2 occasions. 98.90 in total , after numerous emails they refused to refund the money even though no services were used , they basically said it was her own fault , she is 17 years old and they cleaned out her bank account of all the money she had in it . They are a complete scam

Shaw Academy refuses to cancel trial period
Shaw Academy clearly states on their website a 4-week trial period concerning their online education courses. They state that before the end of the trial period, if you are to cancel the account, you will NOT be charged their $69.99 premium membership fee. Today (7/17/20) was the day before my final day to cancel the trial. When I logged into the account, it stated I had 1 day left to cancel. I proceeded with the cancellation process: calling a listed automated phone number, confirming my cancellation. They stated that a cancellation email would be sent to my address on file. After 1 hour, I still received nothing and called again. The same process happened. I sent an email to their support team who stated they would contact me within 48 hours - 1 full day after my trial ended. I called my bank account to cancel my debit card before their charge could come out, however, the charge had been "pre-authorized" meaning that they could take the money out regardless. I sent yet another email, getting the same automated response. I checked my bank account, and they had gone through with the charge even though I had 1 day left hours earlier. Their company and purpose is 100% a scam. They are preying on students and those who want to better themselves for the purpose of stealing a quick buck.

Desired Outcome

I would like the $69.99 monthly membership fee refunded to me as I had cancelled my account before the trial ended. I would like the membership fully cancelled. I would like them to hold themselves accountable for future members, and discontinue this flawed way of business. It is wrong.

They make it difficult to cancel. You try via online and go through about 5 screens then they make you call and go through a series of messages.
On several occasions I attempted to cancel my trial membership. Each time you go to hit that you would like to cancel, you are directed to another screen that gives you more offers to stay. You click you still want to cancel and then yet another screen of offers and telling you you can pause your membership. You try again and are directed to about 2-3 more attempts to make you stay. On the last one you say you still don't want to keep the service and they then say you need to confirm cancellation by phone but can only do so between certain hours.

When you call they do the same thing. You press 2 to cancel at least 5 times before they finally say that you can cancel but you have been billed for lifetime availability of 50% of the course.

It is very disturbing that you can't speak with a live individual and they took the money and I can't reach anyone to get a refund for the money they took. It shouldn't be that you can't cancel and that you have to jump through hoops. I would like my full refund.

Signed up for a free 4 week free trial, Cancel at anytime. Upon login for class, it was a frozen screen. I was unable to get a refund! No Help!

I signed up for the online Excel Course for Free 4 weeks, and cancel at anytime!
That was the promotion!

Unfortunately, upon logging onto my first course, the screen was frozen! I kept texting in the Question Bar, when will class start? I can not her anything? Help?
There was no Help, Customer Service to assist! The phone number on the website XXX-XXX-XXXX was not working.

So, I realized that it is a scam, so I attempted to cancel my membership right away.

Unfortunately the system will not allow you to cancel, it displays "Explore other Options"

I do not want to have my card billed for $69.99 per month! My 30 days will be up on August 6th, 2020!

Please help me to cancel my membership, and look into this bogus online predator for unsuspecting victims like me that would like to learn Excel for work!

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchase their services.
I signed up for a one month free trial in April for an online nutrition class with Shaw Academy. I set a reminder for myself to cancel before the trial expired. At that time, I spoke with someone to cancel my trial and he said that he would extend the free trial another month. He told me he would send me an email confirming this but he absolutely did not send me that email. I was then charged $70. I contacted them and they refused to issue me a refund.

Shaw Academy processed two unauthorized charges on my credit card and do not refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
On the 15th of May I submit my application for a free course and after seeing the content of the course automatically cancelled my account. The confirmation of the cancellation was confusing so I sent straight forward an email to confirme the cancellation was done. I received a confusing email but was saying I didn't need to worry and

15th of June and 13th of July I had debits of 112 New Zealand dollars each time that does not correspond.

I didn't like their free product and didn't buy any other service from them and their customer service is far from being good and legitime.

I want to know how to procede until they refund the money that illegitimate was taken from my bank.

Refund of 224 New Zealand dollars into my bank account and formal confirmation of my relationship with them. Enough trouble having to cancel my Debit card because i am afraid of their actions.

Attempted to cancel membership, I could not due to their system issues. Charged for membership after being told I would not be charged.
When trying to cancel my account prior to the next billing date, I was unable to do so online. I had to call a phone number where they asked I put in my student ID to proceed with cancellation. I triple-confirmed my student ID and each time I called to cancel, I was notified that my student ID was incorrect. There was no way to speak with customer service. When following up via email, I was told that I wouldn't be charged but when looking at my account, I had been charged. Now, they're saying a refund isn't possible and trying to sell me on another year of the mediocre service.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be refunded for the month of membership that I had tried to cancel on-time. If their system had been working properly, I would have been able to do this and avoided the charge.

Got a phone call from shaw asking if I wanted to Extend my subscription, I said NO, and still got charged the following month. I NEED A REFUND
I only signed up for one month with shaw and cancelled my subscription, after the month ended I got a call from someone at Shaw who kept pressuring me to extend my subscription and wouldn't take no for an answer, Well I said NO, I told him I don't want to pay any more for Shaw and sure enough he didn't listen to me and stole my money. I'm gonna follow this up as long as I have to to get my money back.

I have screen shots of the offer from this company saying that I could cancel my membership at anytime and then when I go to do so their online program says I have to call a number to do so and wouldn't let me cancel. Next thing I know I have a $70 dollar charge on my credit card for *** classes I didn't take. Their educational content is GARBAGE!!!! Fueling garbage economies and providing false hopes

Shaw Academy advertises a 4 week free trail for a Graphic Design course they offered, but charged my credit card before the 4 weeks ended.
On July 13th, 2020, I want online to research about graphic design and logo making. I came across Shaw Academy during my search and discovered they were offering a Graphic Design course for free for 4 weeks.

I thought this would be a good opportunity to find out more about graphic design and what it entailed, so I signed up. Upon signing up, Shaw Academy indicated on their website that they would charge your credit card, until after the 4 weeks, if you did not cancel before then.

To my surprise, when I checked my credit card statement online the following day, I saw a charge of $69.99 charged by Shaw Academy. I immediately what back to their website, and reread their terms. They did not change.

They were suppose to charge if I canceled prior to the 4 week trail. It had been 2 days. I then contacted Shaw Academy via e-mail, because that was the only means of contacting them, to ask why my credit card was charged before the 4 week trail.

They had responded back by e-mailing to let me know a refund was not possible and that they would make it up to me by giving me access to their courses for 6 months. This was not our agreement.

They have made false claims and should be shut down, fined and if possible, jailed for acting irresponsibly.

Upon searching about this company, it turns out they have been operating for 6 years, robbing people out of their money. They need to be stopped.

I would like Shaw Academy to refund the $69.99 back to my credit card. They were unauthorized to take this money before a 4 week free trail.

They have clearly stated that they were giving a 4 week free trail and that they would not charge until after this period was up, if you did not cancel. This is in their terms and agreement. Anything they respond with is a farce and a lie. They know and I believe you do too.

Scam

I have contacted SA for a refund and their customer service never contacted me. They have scammed me out of 139,92$
On July 13 of 2020 I have been contacted by a ShawAcademy enployee who offered me a free toolkit if I allowed him to activate a three months plan with ShawAcademy. I said yes, not knowing that they would charge me for the three months plan. I have immediately contacted them when I saw the charge to my PayPal account, to get a refund. Since then, no messages from Shaw Academy. Then, I proceeded to cancel my subscription in case they would charge me. When I started their free trial, they charged me 1$ which they immediately refunded, but it seems like it was to gain trust. I've contacted them through phone and email, and no one will wnswer me.

I would like to get a full refund of the 139,92$ that I was charged. I would like for them to delete all payments information from my Shaw Academy account, including my PayPal

I did not myself click to activate anything that would cost 140$, they called me and activated a plan, but they didn't mention it would cost me anything. I was left to believe it would be given for free. They apparently offered me something worth 300$, but I don't wanna go on Shaw Academy anymore because many people have been scammed by them. I just want my money back.

Withdrew $69.99 from my acct TWO TIMES without my authorization. Requested refund and will no longer respond to my emails.
They had ad on Facebook for 4 week trial. I clicked on it, but did not ever activate the account (I see have email that says to complete registration/activation). I never watched any videos or did anything with the company website. I attempted to go online to take out my credit card, but their system will not allow you remove your credit card at all. I happen to check bank account and noticed it was low. Found they had withdrawn $69.99 TWO TIMES WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. I emailed them and they said no, they won't refund. I have emailed several more time and they are no longer responding to my emails. The email says, if you complete your registration the free trial will start...I DID NOT COMPLETE the registration or view anything with Shaw Academy.

I would like a full refund of both transactions to my account. I would also like my Shaw 'account' they show to be completed removed from the site. There should not be any indication of my name or other information.

I accepted a 3-month free access offered by a marketing agent and was charged $99.95. They refused to refund when I asked the same day of charge.
I was reached out by a marketing agent on July 15th, 2020 and was told that they offer a 3-month free access. I specifically asked if there was going to be an extra charge, and they said there will be no additional fees. The same day I saw a $99.95 charge on my credit card. I sent an email to the support right away, explained the situation. Their response was "we can see on 15 July 2020 you have upgraded your free trial subscription to Quarterly membership. We cannot issue the refund unfortunately as the service has been made available as per the terms and conditions.However we have now cancelled your subscription ensuring no further charges will be processed under your account.To ensure benefits from our services, we have provided additional 6 months free access to the course without any further additional cost." They offered additional months of service I never asked for the price I paid "unwillingly".

I was charged $69.99 from Shaw academy after my 4 week trail ended, but I was not given the option to cancel my account with them.
Last week I was charged $69.99 from Shaw Academy, after a free trial ended, but before I could cancel, I was not given an option to cancel, or any notice to when they I would be charged. Online I did not see an option to cancel my membership with them after the trial. I reached out to them the day of to receive a refund, and they told me no, that's not part of their policy to give refunds after being charged, and they offered me an. Offer for a couple of months, but I told them I don't want because I will not use the service at all, because I don't find their services helpful and I felt like it was a scam based off the bad reviews I read online, and I asked to get a refund, because times are tough and I dont think its the time to steal and not give refunds when many people are out of work due to covid-19, and I have not heard a response from the since. I just want my refund because I'm not going to use the services, and times are too tough to steal and not give refunds, especially since you guys did not give or have an option to cancel before being charged. It's really unethical of them during these times.

My purse was stollen with my phone and person charged my card I'm not sure how, I resolved everything else. But saw this 69.99 charge 2 weeks after!!
I didn't even sign up for this someone stole my phone and used my info as its in my notes bc I forget and they started this I don't live in the Uk I live in the USA. They charged my paypal card 69.99 I Tried resolving it with them and they seem to be not helping... I did not authorize this one bit.

I was charged for materials and subscription. I requested a refund and I have still yet to resolve this matter although I provided evidence.
On 02/28/2020 I clicked on a button on the home page of my account that said "Get Course Materials" there was no where on the page that listed what the course materials were. Once clicked, I was automatically charged. I then reached out to Customer Support requesting an email. Also on 02/28/2020 I received an email that stated "You have cancelled your membership and are going to loose access to your course in 3 days" from a William E and at the bottom of the email there is a big red button that says "Restart my trial."

I received a charge to my account on 03/02/2020 for the subscription and the materials. On this day I also received a response from Patrick that there is no way I can be refunded and him offering other products for free. In the end, I still have yet to receive a refund for the products or services a total of $90 and no response to my later email.

I would like all of my money back.This is unfair treatment and even when you provide substantial evidence the company denies your request. This business to be flagged and there needs to be notice for others who visit their site in hopes of furthering their education. This company has done this to many people as I read the reviews on this site. Its absurd. There is no customer service to verbally communicate with and they take forever to respond or they just don't respond at all.

I was charged for a subscription that I'd previously cancelled.
I signed up for a course 'free trial' and on the sign up stage was asked to enter payment details fully aware that first payment will be taken after the month is up if not cancelled before then (in accordance with T&C's). After registration was complete, I did not receive any course content and had issues logging onto the portal to access it and decided to cancel a couple of hours later as it was not user friendly at all. During the cancellation process I had to go through numerous pages confirming cancellation, and there was a number to call which I have discovered is difficult to reach and not free-phone. I also contacted them via social media providing my membership number requesting that I wish to cancel immediately. I thought no more of it and discovered that a month later they made a charge to my account! I had insufficient funds in my account at the time but the payment went through a week later. I have been contacting via them via email for over a month, but keep getting the same response from them saying I hadn't cancelled within the trial period and that as i'd given payment details upon signing up (which was a requirement), that i'd agreed to it. But according to their terms the charge will only be taken if I didn't cancel within the month, but I did! At the same time they keep sending me spam emails and text messages with offers that I have told them I am not interested and just want my money back. I have since discovered that this has happened to many people and is in fact a scam. They have also been given a warning by Trustpilot.com (and now a cease and desist) as it was discovered that the positive reviews that they have received are not genuine and that they have been harassing people that have left critical reviews, to change them. It has even been reported in The Guardian newspaper and all over social media, what Shaw Academy have been up to. I have opened a dispute via Paypal and despite giving all info and evidence, they have closed the case against my favour twice! I have appealed and also put in a formal complaint to Paypal regarding the decision asking why they are siding with an unscrupulous business even though the evidence is clear, and without giving me a reason why, I just want my money back.

Desired Outcome

I would like my money back (£49.99) and no more texts messages or emails from Shaw Academy. I want nothing to do with them until i have my money back. Shaw Academy have shown themselves to be dishonest and untrustworthy and shouldn't be in business.

Illegal charge to account
I had signed up for free graphic design class and upon finishing profile information a pop up came on my screen(I was on a PC) advising me to buy my toolkit and not be left behind. I clicked with my mouse the X to close the window and please be advised I am aware of the one click purchase but that radio button is at bottom of screen and the red X was at top and this was the radio button clicked. Immediately upon closing the pop up window I received this text message to my phone Your payment failed due to technical error. Click here to complete your Toolkit order : ***

*** or reply STOP. I never clicked the option to purchase this item nor gave them permission to charge my card. This illegal transaction was never authorized. I could see if I was on a mobile device and accidentally touched the screen to purchase but I was on a desktop with a mouse and radio buttons that do not allow for accidentally clicking the wrong one. My account was charged a overdraft fee for their attempt to go into my account . They need to stop illegally charging people

Because there was a charge on the free trial account. I don't have a second account with them and I have emails and texts from them showing that there was a issue with them attempting to charge my account. After I filed this complaint they sent another email stating they were going to refund any charges that occurred because of their attempt to get money out of my account

You say you didn't charge me anything that is correct YOU ATTEMPTED TO CHARGE ME!!! And in attempting to charge my account my banking institution blocked the charge and then I received a NSF due to your ATTEMPT. Your company should not be getting into people's accounts without their permission and I gave no permission for my account to have an attempt made on it. Im very angry about the attempted removal of money out of my account and im thankful my bank blocked it because I never ordered anything from this company . This is a violation with Visa for anyone to attempt a charge without per.ission and I will be reaching out to them as well in regards to this fraudulent transaction

We have personally reviewed your account and found that you had subscribed using your debit/credit card/payment method and availed of a 30-day free trial after which payment would be made. All aspects of this were made clear at registration, within your member's area and via communications. Since you did not cancel during your trial period, payment was processed as per the terms and conditions associated with your membership.
However, the payment failed and you have not been charged as you know.

First I have only been enrolled a week and I canceled the subscription online and it says I need to call to cancel. So once again I have only been enrolled for a week!!! Bottom line whoever is responding is not reading my response. I was charged for a toolkit and the attached files show it was for a toolkit that I never clicked to buy not for a subscription

Hence the reason for the original submission. I never clicked to.purchase the tool kit. I was on a desktop and nowhere near the radio button to buy the toolkit!! The site automatically attempted the purchase and I once again stand by the fact that your company is illegally charging people without their permission. I did not and I repeat did not purchase the toolkit !!! This company is a scam and is ripping consumers off and needs to be closed down. Once again I reiterate I never clicked the radio button to purchase any toolkit

You say you have no record of ***@gmail.com but I recently received confirmation that my 1 week old trial was cancelled at my requests, and I receive up until yesterday lots of emails about missing class. Probably the reason you dont see my address anymore is because I opted out notifications from your company because I was tired of getting tons of useless emails from you. Attached is the latest email from your support team with a case number showing my account will not be charged as I have cancelled the trial in the timeframe alloted.

They charged me an unauthorized purchase for a thing that I don't even know what it is and don't want to refund me for it. Website is very deceiving.
They have pop-ups selling things appearing everytime you click on something in their website. Those pop-ups if you click on them, they charge you right away! There's no room for mistake, no confirmation for you to understand what is happening. I told them I wouldn't be the course anymore as I was very disappointed with them. I've stopped using the platform and courses right after the introductory class and they say it's impossible to refund me or block my access, we all know that is a lie. All they are trying to do is to push me more things to a course I've explicitly said I have no interest anymore.

Desired Outcome

I don't want to do the course anymore. I just want the refund for the unauthorized charge.
