Shaw Academy charged my card 1 minute after I signed up for free trial, which contradicts the terms and conditions. They refuse to return my money now
Shaw Academy offers 4 weeks of free courses. After the 4 week period, customer's card gets charged CAD $69.99 on a monthly basis for the subscription.
I subscribed for 4 weeks of free trial today, 15-07-2020, and Shaw Academy charged my credit card CAD $69.99 one minute after I signed up for their deal.
I emailed the Shaw Academy asking them to process a refund, because the company had no right to charge my card when the service is free for 4 weeks. The representative of the Shaw Academy refused to process a refund for me based on the terms and conditions. Instead, I was offered 6 months of free courses.
I don't accept free courses. I have been deceived and robbed by Shaw Academy. This company contradicts its own terms and conditions and robs customers. This is an illegal action, which Shaw Academy should be liable for. They must return money to the customers who they stole it from.

I expect Shaw Academy to process a full refund of CAD $69.99 back to my account.

I signed up for a free trial and called to cancel on 6/8/20. Nathan, the employee I spoke to, refused to let me cancel and sent me a diploma instead even though I had never even opened the program. I then emailed him back, as he said I could email him directly if I needed to cancel the new extension of the free trial he game. I emailed him on 6/23/20 requesting to officially cancel my account as I do not want to be charged and still never used the program. On 7/9/20 Shaw Academy charged me $69.99. Thus is extremely frustrating as I have continued to try to cancel. I emailed Nathan and the main customer service email to request a cancellation for a third time and for them to issue a refund. They are now telling me they can't offer me a refund, but that their service greatly outweighs the refund. We are going through a global pandemic and I have lost my job and do not appreciate them telling me that the services I have never used and requested twice to cancel outweighs the cost. I have now emailed an additional two times asking if my account is now canceled and they are avoiding the question and will not put in writing I have been canceled.

Billing practices, customer service, and general shadiness of the company.
Recommended by my cellular carrier as part of their "rewards program", Shaw Academy is cloaked with shady business practices and bait-and-switch tactics. They claim that their "certificates" are equivalent to a 2yr College degree (American, and they're not), and that you are able to cancel your account any time.
However, while their FAQ claims that you can "go to your profile and deactivate your membership", there is no link, red text, or any possible option at all to end your subscription or account. Several emails I have sent asking them to CEASE and DESIST and they continue to charge me, even after the attached email above claiming I would not be.
#XXXXXXX, #XXXXXXX, and #XXXXXXX are the current tickets I have with them and only -1089 has been answered. There is still a pending charge with them and my next step is talking to my credit company to prevent that charge, if possible. This whole experience has been nothing but a hassle filled with lies and deceit; the last thing we need in this current economy.

I would like them to stop charging me for their alleged program, as I have several emails sent requesting that they cease and desist, and that I have requested an account deletion and subscription cancellation but they refuse to answer any of customer service contact.

On fixed income and cancelled when I learned that each payment was only for a part of the class, not the complete class. Went through a huge hassle to cancel when discovered my account had not been cancelled, to cancel any future payments. But feel that my email, that TOS requested, should have been sufficient. Want my money back.

I registered for Shaw Academy free trial. Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money.
I registered a free trial on July 7. And found out that Shaw Academy charged me $69.99 on July 8 on my credit card. I sent out requests for a refund twice. But getting back exactly the same content as below which makes no sense and is unacceptable. Apparently, they're using advertising making money from students and people who is eager to learn in a dirty way. My two tickets number are #XXXXXXX and #XXXXXXX.

I've called Shaw Academy twice about canceling before the trial ended TWICE and they've ignored me and hung up on me. I can't even pay for my father's funeral arrangements because of them.
I've even shown proof and told them what happened and they still took my money and NOW ignoring me.

Shaw Academy charged me 69.99 USD for a membership I never agree with it! They refused to refund me that money
I signed up for a 4 weeks free-trial that the offer in their website. But after two days of signed up, my credit card was charged for a premium membership that I never asked for, I never wanted it.
Why would I pay for a membership while I am using the services for the FREE Trial?
Once I realized my credit card was charged, I sent it an email explain the whole situation, hoping they will see that the payment was a mistake, but they refused to refund me the money. They offer me a 6 months membership, but at this point I don't want any membership with them, I am scared they will charge my credit card again.
The facts : They are a fraudulent company, they offer free-trail and once students sign up, the charged their credit cards for with membership nobody agree with. Also when people ask them for refund, they refused to do it and instead the offer 3 or 6 months extension of your membership, but people has complain how in that period of time, they are charged again for the memberships.

I had looked into their offer of a free online digital media course. After signing up I discovered a lot of negative feed back from past students. So I explained my concerns and they never replied back. Then they proceeded to take 69.99 from my bank account a month or so after I had expressed my concerns and not wanting to take the course. Still waiting to go back to work I had other distractions so I was unable to file the complaint then. Now again today they removed another 69.99, which obviously is frustrating considering money is tight and I never received a single class or service from them. I was charged 69.90 USD for the Shaw Academy free trial which I wasn't able to use. I've filed for a refund twice with no answer
On July 9th I was charged 69.90 usd for a free trial which ended too days after. I made the mistake of linking my PayPal account; so when I received the notification from my bank I was shocked and immediately filed for a refund request on Shawacademy site. After receiving an answer to check their REFUND policies I realized the have NONE. I have emailed their support address twice with no answer whatsoever.
On the email I explained I wasn't able to use the "free trial" due to a family emergency which ended up with the passing away of my grandmother. I explained to them that I don't want, neither have the time to use their service, so Im requesting a REFUND. Its been six days In which I have filed for a refund to multiple emails (*** and *** @shawacademy.com) with attachments of my bank account statement and PayPal notification and requests on their page with NO ANSWER.
Also after looking into my bank account statement I notice that they made the charge to days before it was due.
If you are reading this. Don't trust this company, they have no REFUND policy whatsoever, neither they respond client requests as every online platform should. I will keep researching on ways to reach them until I get my REFUND since I'm not in a space where I can loose this amount of money to a service I didn't even use.

This is a scam. I've never purchased Shaw Academy's online courses but they charged for 3 months during the time I was trying to reach out to ask.
I've never purchased Shaw Academy courses, I don't remember if I ever signed up for the 4 weeks free trial, no confirmation email for registration, no email for end of trial and they started charging on my credit card. They don't provide any phone number for customer service, I sent several emails to say there is a mistake. They didn't respond first, they finally emailed back to say they can't see my account information (which I didn't have and this was the problem). It took another 2 months for all the email responses with no solution and at the end they responded back saying we've cancelled your subscription, exactly the same day they charged for the 3rd month. I sent another email to ask refund and I got one email saying 'you are not subscribed to us so there is no need for cancellation' and another ' We cancelled your subscription and we'd let you benefit our courses for 6 months'.

I have no email confirming my Registration or another to inform the trial period is ending. I have asked the mistake to get fixed at the very beginning in May but it took 2 more months for you to respond with a solution. I received a phone call from a Mr Chad P. on 11/07/2020 asking me how I was coping with the course. I am absolutely sure he did not mention a debit of £99.95 from my card which is what happened immediately the call dropped. He has refused to answer my mails pick my calls or return my voicemails.
The app is also set up in a very tricky way to make you spend money even though they promise the course is free, I mistakenly clicked on a button (that had no price tag on it) on 01/07/2020 and about £39.93 was taken from my card. There was no prompt asking me to confirm my choice, I think it's all aimed to rob you of your money.

I joined with a 28 day free trial. I quickly realized it wasn't for me. I cancelled well before the 28 day trial was done. I have the phone call from the cancellation to confirm even their representative confirmed this. Months later, I received a $70 charge from then. I emailed with my email copies showing I cancelled before 28 days and they refuse to refund the money. Not only did I have proper documentation, it's even more suspect that it was charged months later, not 29 days later. Stay away from these scammers.
This company is a scam. They say you can cancel before the end of your free trial but they make it impossible to get out of their programs.
I followed the procedure to have my program canceled days before the trail ended. They made it impossible to cancel it and they have no way to contact them via telephone so you just have to wait for return email. They contacted me after the free trial and charged me $69.99 when they k ow they should not have. They are doing this to several people. It's a scam

I was charged $99.95 by Shaw Academy without being informed of the transaction.
I received a call from a number in Ireland on Monday afternoon at 4:20. I answered the phone and was told that the person speaking was my Shaw Academy Course Counselor Jody B.
After asking me a few questions about my experience thus far with my Shaw Academy Graphic Design course, *** informed me that I was eligible for additional services like the toolkit and extra courses.
I expressed that I had no interested in paying more money than I had already and he assured me that I would not. He led me to believe that the additional services would be free and at no point during the call mentioned me needing to pay $99.95 for an upgrade.
When he asked if I approved of the activation, I stopped to clarify again that I wouldn't need to pay any money or do anything else to receive this new access. *** assured me that there was nothing more I had to do. He confirmed my email, asked if there was anything else he could do for me and then hung up.
Within minutes my PayPal account was charged for $99.95 from Shaw Academy and I received an email from *** saying that "As discussed, you have successfully upgraded to a Shaw Academy plan."
I did not request an upgrade, I did not agree to pay $99.95 and I *** did not inform me on our phone call that this was happening.

Did a month long free trial, canceled before the trial date ended. Have received two $69.99 charges since.
I joined Shaw Academy for a month long trial on May 16, 2020. I never used the service and canceled it prior to when my free month was up on June 12, 2020. I received a confirmation email from Kristina L. The email stated "As mentioned on the phone your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled. We are sad to see you go as we believe that you have the potential to achieve your goals." I just logged into my account and it still says that I am "Active" and they clearly never canceled my account.
I only just noticed, but on June 14, 2020 I received a $69.99 charge from Shaw Academy. Then, again, on July 12, 2020 I received another $69.99 charge.

The company has said they will give me $69.99, but they have taken $139.98 from me. When I asked them to please give me back all of the money they took from me they responded that they couldn't do that because I was asking "later." So essentially they acknowledged that I was in the right, that they had mistakenly taken my money but because I apparently didn't catch their thievery fast enough they will not be giving me a refund for the $69.99 that they owe me. This is despicable. This company needs to be shut down.

No. I canceled my account within the four week period and have an email confirming my cancellation. What you people are doing is criminal. I also find it interesting that you have stopped replying to my emails and now only seem to care to respond when you know it may be public. I have contacted both the New Hampshire Department of Justice as well as friends who work as federal prosecutors in New Hampshire district courts. I'm a law student at Georgetown law and have plenty of friends who are interested in this. I hope you enjoy working for a company that robs from people.

Why do you people continue to lie? Your own employee (who I spoke to on the phone and canceled my account with prior to the free trial being over) even emailed the billing department at your company specifically saying I had canceled my account on time and compelling the billing department to give me a response. I want to be able to click 'yes' I am satisfied on one of these, but I refuse to do so if your business will not own up to its mistakes (really they are just lies) and stop blaming consumers for your theft. Let's try one more time!

Shaw Academy charged my card 1 minute after I signed up for free trial, which contradicts the terms and conditions. They refuse to return my money now
Shaw Academy offers 4 weeks of free courses. After the 4 week period, customer's card gets charged CAD $69.99 on a monthly basis for the subscription.
I subscribed for 4 weeks of free trial today, 15-07-2020, and Shaw Academy charged my credit card CAD $69.99 one minute after I signed up for their deal.
I emailed the Shaw Academy asking them to process a refund, because the company had no right to charge my card when the service is free for 4 weeks. The representative of the Shaw Academy refused to process a refund for me based on the terms and conditions. Instead, I was offered 6 months of free courses.
I don't accept free courses. I have been deceived and robbed by Shaw Academy. This company contradicts its own terms and conditions and robs customers. This is an illegal action, which Shaw Academy should be liable for. They must return money to the customers who they stole it from.
I expect Shaw Academy to process a full refund of CAD $69.99 back to my account.

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge & refused to refund the money although I never purchased their services & requested a cancellation twice
I signed up for a free trial and called to cancel on 6/8/20. Nathan, the employee I spoke to, refused to let me cancel and sent me a diploma instead even though I had never even opened the program. I then emailed him back, as he said I could email him directly if I needed to cancel the new extension of the free trial he game. I emailed him on 6/23/20 requesting to officially cancel my account as I do not want to be charged and still never used the program. On 7/9/20 Shaw Academy charged me $69.99. Thus is extremely frustrating as I have continued to try to cancel. I emailed Nathan and the main customer service email to request a cancellation for a third time and for them to issue a refund. They are now telling me they can't offer me a refund, but that their service greatly outweighs the refund. We are going through a global pandemic and I have lost my job and do not appreciate them telling me that the services I have never used and requested twice to cancel outweighs the cost. I have now emailed an additional two times asking if my account is now canceled and they are avoiding the question and will not put in writing I have been canceled.
I want confirmation my account has been canceled and that I will not be charged again.

Billing practices, customer service, and general shadiness of the company.
Recommended by my cellular carrier as part of their "rewards program", Shaw Academy is cloaked with shady business practices and bait-and-switch tactics. They claim that their "certificates" are equivalent to a 2yr College degree (American, and they're not), and that you are able to cancel your account any time.
However, while their FAQ claims that you can "go to your profile and deactivate your membership", there is no link, red text, or any possible option at all to end your subscription or account. Several emails I have sent asking them to CEASE and DESIST and they continue to charge me, even after the attached email above claiming I would not be.
#XXXXXXX, #XXXXXXX, and #XXXXXXX are the current tickets I have with them and only -1089 has been answered. There is still a pending charge with them and my next step is talking to my credit company to prevent that charge, if possible. This whole experience has been nothing but a hassle filled with lies and deceit; the last thing we need in this current economy.
I would like them to stop charging me for their alleged program, as I have several emails sent requesting that they cease and desist, and that I have requested an account deletion and subscription cancellation but they refuse to answer any of customer service contact.

But getting back exactly the same content as below which makes no sense and is unacceptable. I've called Shaw Academy twice about canceling before the trial ended TWICE and they've ignored me and hung up on me. I can't even pay for my father's funeral arrangements because of them.

Shaw Academy charged me 69.99 USD for a membership I never agree with it! They refused to refund me that money
I signed up for a 4 weeks free-trial that the offer in their website. But after two days of signed up, my credit card was charged for a premium membership that I never asked for, I never wanted it.
Why would I pay for a membership while I am using the services for the FREE Trial?
Once I realized my credit card was charged, I sent it an email explain the whole situation, hoping they will see that the payment was a mistake, but they refused to refund me the money. They offer me a 6 months membership, but at this point I don't want any membership with them, I am scared they will charge my credit card again.
The facts : They are a fraudulent company, they offer free-trail and once students sign up, the charged their credit cards for with membership nobody agree with. Also when people ask them for refund, they refused to do it and instead the offer 3 or 6 months extension of your membership, but people has complain how in that period of time, they are charged again for the memberships.

I had looked into their offer of a free online digital media course. After signing up I discovered a lot of negative feed back from past students. So I explained my concerns and they never replied back. Then they proceeded to take 69.99 from my bank account a month or so after I had expressed my concerns and not wanting to take the course. Still waiting to go back to work I had other distractions so I was unable to file the complaint then. Now again today they removed another 69.99, which obviously is frustrating considering money is tight and I never received a single class or service from them. It seems as if they keep trying to remove money because as soon as I receive my ei they take 69.99. I have tried to contact them but they refuse to acknowledge my concern.

I was charged 69.90 USD for the Shaw Academy free trial which I wasn't able to use. I've filed for a refund twice with no answer
On July 9th I was charged 69.90 usd for a free trial which ended too days after. I made the mistake of linking my PayPal account; so when I received the notification from my bank I was shocked and immediately filed for a refund request on Shawacademy site. After receiving an answer to check their REFUND policies I realized the have NONE. I have emailed their support address twice with no answer whatsoever.
On the email I explained I wasn't able to use the "free trial" due to a family emergency which ended up with the passing away of my grandmother. I explained to them that I don't want, neither have the time to use their service, so Im requesting a REFUND. Its been six days In which I have filed for a refund to multiple emails (*** and *** @shawacademy.com) with attachments of my bank account statement and PayPal notification and requests on their page with NO ANSWER.
Also after looking into my bank account statement I notice that they made the charge to days before it was due.
If you are reading this. Don't trust this company, they have no REFUND policy whatsoever, neither they respond client requests as every online platform should. I will keep researching on ways to reach them until I get my REFUND since I'm not in a space where I can loose this amount of money to a service I didn't even use.

This is a scam. I've never purchased Shaw Academy's online courses but they charged for 3 months during the time I was trying to reach out to ask.
I've never purchased Shaw Academy courses, I don't remember if I ever signed up for the 4 weeks free trial, no confirmation email for registration, no email for end of trial and they started charging on my credit card. They don't provide any phone number for customer service, I sent several emails to say there is a mistake. They didn't respond first, they finally emailed back to say they can't see my account information (which I didn't have and this was the problem). It took another 2 months for all the email responses with no solution and at the end they responded back saying we've cancelled your subscription, exactly the same day they charged for the 3rd month. I sent another email to ask refund and I got one email saying 'you are not subscribed to us so there is no need for cancellation' and another ' We cancelled your subscription and we'd let you benefit our courses for 6 months'.
I immediately sent them an email when I noticed the charge on my credit card on 5/19/2020 and they responded with two conflicting emails today 7/15/20 and finally saying they can't refund. I can sen the images of their emails as well.

I have no email confirming my Registration or another to inform the trial period is ending. I have asked the mistake to get fixed at the very beginning in May but it took 2 more months for you to respond with a solution. Even if the Legal terms can be an excuse for The first month payment - despite any warning - not responding to the emails and charging for 2 more months is stealing money! It's nothing I can accept. Business practices are extremely disappointing and fraudulent. I recommended a class on Shawn Academy to my husband and friends. They signed up for a "free trial", tried the product once and decided they didn't like it. We called and canceled the membership, received a confirmation from the company and we were still charged. I received a phone call from a Mr Chad P. on 11/07/2020 asking me how I was coping with the course. I am absolutely sure he did not mention a debit of £99.95 from my card which is what happened immediately the call dropped. He has refused to answer my mails pick my calls or return my voicemails.
The app is also set up in a very tricky way to make you spend money even though they promise the course is free, I mistakenly clicked on a button (that had no price tag on it) on 01/07/2020 and about £39.93 was taken from my card. There was no prompt asking me to confirm my choice, I think it's all aimed to rob you of your money.

I joined with a 28 day free trial. I quickly realized it wasn't for me. I cancelled well before the 28 day trial was done. I have the phone call from the cancellation to confirm even their representative confirmed this. Months later, I received a $70 charge from then. I emailed with my email copies showing I cancelled before 28 days and they refuse to refund the money. Not only did I have proper documentation, it's even more suspect that it was charged months later, not 29 days later. Stay away from these scammers.
This company is a scam. They say you can cancel before the end of your free trial but they make it impossible to get out of their programs.
I followed the procedure to have my program canceled days before the trail ended. They made it impossible to cancel it and they have no way to contact them via telephone so you just have to wait for return email. I was charged $99.95 by Shaw Academy without being informed of the transaction.
I received a call from a number in Ireland on Monday afternoon at 4:20. I answered the phone and was told that the person speaking was my Shaw Academy Course Counselor Jody B.
After asking me a few questions about my experience thus far with my Shaw Academy Graphic Design course, *** informed me that I was eligible for additional services like the toolkit and extra courses.
I expressed that I had no interested in paying more money than I had already and he assured me that I would not. He led me to believe that the additional services would be free and at no point during the call mentioned me needing to pay $99.95 for an upgrade.
When he asked if I approved of the activation, I stopped to clarify again that I wouldn't need to pay any money or do anything else to receive this new access. *** assured me that there was nothing more I had to do. He confirmed my email, asked if there was anything else he could do for me and then hung up.
Within minutes my PayPal account was charged for $99.95 from Shaw Academy and I received an email from *** saying that "As discussed, you have successfully upgraded to a Shaw Academy plan."
I did not request an upgrade, I did not agree to pay $99.95 and I *** did not inform me on our phone call that this was happening.
I would like a full refund for the $99.95 I paid without my knowledge and I would also like for an investigation of Shaw Academy's business practices on the phone with their customers.

Did a month long free trial, canceled before the trial date ended. Have received two $69.99 charges since.
I joined Shaw Academy for a month long trial on May 16, 2020. I never used the service and canceled it prior to when my free month was up on June 12, 2020. I received a confirmation email from Kristina L. The email stated "As mentioned on the phone your membership with Shaw Academy has now been cancelled. We are sad to see you go as we believe that you have the potential to achieve your goals." I just logged into my account and it still says that I am "Active" and they clearly never canceled my account.
I only just noticed, but on June 14, 2020 I received a $69.99 charge from Shaw Academy. Then, again, on July 12, 2020 I received another $69.99 charge.
I would like my money to be returned to me with interest and for all future charges to cease.

The company has said they will give me $69.99, but they have taken $139.98 from me. When I asked them to please give me back all of the money they took from me they responded that they couldn't do that because I was asking "later." So essentially they acknowledged that I was in the right, that they had mistakenly taken my money but because I apparently didn't catch their thievery fast enough they will not be giving me a refund for the $69.99 that they owe me. This is despicable. This company needs to be shut down.

No. I canceled my account within the four week period and have an email confirming my cancellation. What you people are doing is criminal. I also find it interesting that you have stopped replying to my emails and now only seem to care to respond when you know it may be public. I have contacted both the New Hampshire Department of Justice as well as friends who work as federal prosecutors in New Hampshire district courts. I'm a law student at Georgetown law and have plenty of friends who are interested in this. I hope you enjoy working for a company that robs from people.

Why do you people continue to lie? Your own employee (who I spoke to on the phone and canceled my account with prior to the free trial being over) even emailed the billing department at your company specifically saying I had canceled my account on time and compelling the billing department to give me a response. I want to be able to click 'yes' I am satisfied on one of these, but I refuse to do so if your business will not own up to its mistakes (really they are just lies) and stop blaming consumers for your theft. Let's try one more time!
