After trying to cancel my free trial online (and successfully doing so, I thought), the company took £25 anyway and refuse to refund it.
My experience of Shaw Academy is similar to many others I have since read. I signed up for a 4-week free trial of Shaw Academy. Logging in and looking at what they had to offer, I decided it was not for me after all. I logged in and went through the full procedure of cancelling the free trial - or so I thought. About two weeks later I noticed on my online banking that Shaw Academy had taken £25 from my account. I called them and demanded the money back, explaining that I had tried to cancel weeks earlier. I was given an email address, to which I wrote, explaining the situation again. They wrote back saying they would not refund the money, as I had not cancelled within the free trial period - even though I was sure, from what I saw on the website, that I had. They offered me a six-month free membership, which I declined. It worries me to know that they still have my bank information, having read so many negative reviews about unexpected charges - even after the company had told customers that there would be no more. No company's policies and procedures should be so opaque and convoluted that a customer should be under any misapprehension about the status of their membership. A trustworthy company would make cancelling easy and honour refunds out of good will.
Desired Outcome
I would like the £25 taken to be refunded, as I did not use any one of Shaw Academy's services at any point. I would like a written assurance that no more money will be taken from my bank account.

Cancelled course but still charged
Signed up to a free photography course which I soon realised was not suitable, and so sent the cancellation request through well within the time span. Received a cancellation noticification dated 8th April @9.23pm confirming cancellation. I have since been charged £69.99 despite the cancellation, and upon querying, been told that I have ordered a 'toolkit', something which a) I didnt do and was careful not to b) have never received a receipt or notice to say I had- in fact it was only when I queried the payment that this was even brought up. When communicating with customer service, they stop replying or reading my comments and just keep offering and extra 6 months?
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of monies charged as I havenot ordered or received anything can cancelled the course well within the boundaries set by the terms and conditions

I only wanted to do the free course, but I clicked module to view what classes I had next and it charged me immediately! I have not used the module pack and didn't even know what it was and now I've been charged £40 without consent. I'm really not happy and want a refund ASAP.

Hi ***,We have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged £39.95 for the purchase (Toolkit for Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing and SEO Module 1) you made via our one-click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non-refundable charge, however, as a goodwill gesture, We have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in the next 3-5 business days.
I attempted to cancel my free trial account and was charged a fee before I was able to get in touch. Billing has told me they can not offer a refund.
I signed up for a 4 week free trial on May 19th set to end on June 16th, although I had thought it would go until the 18th as a '4 week trial' is somewhat misleading. Most people equate 4 weeks with 1 month. I waited until the 16th to cancel my trial since my last class was on the 16th and I did not want to miss it. When I went to my account to cancel I was taken through a series of attempts to get me to stay before finally landing on the page that said I had to call to cancel. Due to the hours, it was too late for me to call that day. I live in PST zone and the hours are for EST zone. The number I called was XXX-XXX-XXXX. I attempted to call on the 17th during business hours but nobody answered. The charge had already gone through on my debit card. I called again on the 18th and a Ms. Tamaryn Foster answered. I requested for my account to be cancelled and to get a refund for the $69.99 USD charge. In the end she told me she would give me with a free toolkit and an e-cert so I could continue my education and that she couldn't help me with anything else. She told me to email billing for a refund. I emailed ***@shawacademy.com on June 18th as soon as I got off the phone with customer service. I requested for my account to be canceled and for a refund explaining that I was unable to get through to customer service and that I had no intention of continuing with a paid membership and did not want any free toolkits or e-certs or more time. I provided my student number XXXXX. I received a reply within 2 minutes with a ticket number XXXXXXX. I replied with the transaction details and an attached screenshot of the transaction from my bank statement as they require. Several hours later I received an email that stated, "I see that you have purchased the Toolkit shown in your members area..." followed by a bunch of info about the Toolkit and how to access it. Keep in mind, I NEVER PURCHASED A TOOLKIT. The customer service rep, Tamaryn Foster added it when I called to cancel. They then stated, "Once the Toolkit is activated within your account it is made available to you and we have transferred the content you hence it cannot be disabled as it was provided therefore, we cannot refund." They then gave me a credit for a 'Certificate of Completion' plus 3 more Toolkits plus a hard copy diploma which they activated for me in my account. They asked I send a reply if I needed further assistance. As my request to cancel nor the refund was granted, I immediately replied to the email. I explained that I did not purchase a toolkit, that it was added into my account by the customer service rep. I again requested that everything be canceled and for my money to be refunded. I requested they stop trying to sell me more products and comply with my request to cancel and refund. That email was sent on June 18th. I received a cancellation confirmation email on the 19th. However, my account is still open and active. I waited until the next business day (today the 22nd) to give them a chance to refund my money. By the end of the business day today, I had not received a refund, so I am taking further action to obtain a refund.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund in the amount of $69.99, my payment details permanently erased from your system, and my account permanently closed.

Hi ***,

The auto renewal process is clearly mentioned in the terms and condition that you initially agreed to. we request you to email us at ***@shawacademy.com for further assistance.
I signed up for a free trial through a FB ad. Cancelled before free trial was up and was told no refund.
When I started my four week free trial (June 3, 2020), I was given an option to skip the first module of the course I enrolled in and start on the second module, but that I would have access to the recordings for the first module. I was not informed that choosing this option would incur a charge. I watched the first module on my own, and started the second module within the four week free trial. When it became apparent that the course was getting more technical than I anticipated, I decided to cancel. I had to call to cancel, and while I was on the phone with the agent I requested a refund. I noted that I wasn't expecting to be billed at all since I was still within the free trial period. He said I had to email the billing department and they would take care of the refund. I emailed and was told that I had "unlocked" module one "manually" and therefore I owed the $69.99. I emailed back that I had not been informed of any charges when I selected the option to start at module 2 and that I would like my refund. They offered a longer free trial and other courses, but I declined and said I just wanted my refund. They responded that I couldn't get a refund. I wrote back that I would take this up with Revdex.com and I got no response.
Desired Outcome
I would like my $69.99 refunded.

I have tried repeatedly to cancel my account with Shaw Academy and they keep stalling to cancel coming up with every excuse imaginable. In order to cancel you have to call them and give them a reason why. Then they use stalling tactics to stop you from cancelling. Their program is not even accredited. They should be shut down. I want my account cancelled. I want their company closed down and I want them held accountable. They tried to charge my on the first day I signed up for the free trial. My bank's legal department puta stop to that.

Wrongfully charged for free trial
I signed up for the 4-week free trial but got charged $70. I already canceled my free trial right when I signed up. I have the confirmation of cancellation and the welcoming letter as well. According to the terms, I should not be charged in any means. I already sent emails to the company and all I received was automatic replies. Apparently, no one has checked my case.
Desired Outcome
Immediate refund and explanation.

I signed up for a free trial and cancelled it before it was over, but got charged with usd 69.99 anyways.
I signed up for a free trial and checked the box to get an email the day before the free trial was over. I was constantly checking how many days I had left on the app and the website. When it said I had 1 day left, I decided to cancel just to be safe, even though I never got the email warning me that the free trial was about to be over. I tried removing my credit card information to be safe, but I couldn't access it. Even though I cancelled my subscription while the app and website said I still had 1 day left, I was charged with usd 69.99 on my credit card. I already started a complaint with my credit card to have them as mediators, but I really hope to get refund back, since I can't afford it.
Desired Outcome
I want a complete refund of the payment. I would like and apology for the misleading offers, the lies when you subscribe and think it's safe, and hope they change their ways and never do this again.

I got an email from you today saying that I did cancel in time, and in fact my account is cancelled, but thay the charges correspond to a toolkit that I never purchased. As I wrote on the email, I never pressed any button to acquire a toolkit and certificate (and I also don't have those things). First of all, the app and the website said I still had 1 day left of free trial, so if this was not right, it's not okay to trick me into believing I still have 1 day left so you get your payment.
Second of all, you said I was going to receive an email 1 day before my free trial was over, which I never got, so of course I assumed that was because I had more than 1 day left, as the app and website said.
Do you understand that this is not okay? Because all I see is you coming up with different excuses, different explanations to get that money.
I feel tricked, and lied to, and all I want is my money back. Money that you took for a service that is not in use, it's cancelled.

While signing up for a free trial they said that I would receive a reminder email 3 days before I was charged. I did not receive it, they charged me.
I signed up for the shaw academy photography free 4 week trial on the 14th of May. While signing up the website said that I would receive a reminder message 3 days before I was charged. I was charged 49.99 euro through PayPal on the 11th of June. I did not receive a reminder message. I have been in contact with the company and at first they said that they could not check if the reminder email had been sent or not as it was an automated email. Then, they said that the email had been sent on the 5th of June. I have checked my inbox, spam and junk and I have not received that email. I have asked them for proof that the email has been sent and they are claiming that they cannot send me proof because it contains confidential information. Instead, they are offering me a 12 month subscription worth $699, a toolkit and e-certificates worth $199, all completely free of charge. I do not want any of this, I just want my money back.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund of 49.99 euro.

Was not allowed to cancel subscription, was charged, offered free lifetime subscription only to get chared again, did not refund.
On 10 June in early morning I made an attempt to end a free-trial subscription to Shaw Academy, after going through online process was told to call a number. Upon calling multiple times I received no answer, thus was charged $70 on 11 June. I emailed support team, was offered lifetime subscription for free because of this issue. Upon checking said lifetime membership, I was charged another $70 on 18 June. The lifetime membership was never actually placed on my account.
I was told they could not refund me because it is in "neither of our best interests," yet I never had any intention of paying any money in the first place. I did not consent to pay $140 to Shaw Academy, thus was scammed and robbed. I was finally able to get a hold of a caller and cancelled my membership, but I still do not have a refund. The reason for cancelling my membership before dispute was resolved was to prevent another robbery of my money since they have my credit card info on file.
Desired Outcome
The desired resolution would be a refund for the two unwanted $69.99 charges on my credit card. These two charges were unfair and unjust, I never agreed on one of them. Thus, a total of 139.98 should be refunded to my credit card.

This company makes it very difficult to cancel your subscription. They also scam you into having a subscription. They charge you without authorization.
I signed up for a free trial of this course in February 2020. I never once agreed to any charges because I chose to take a free course. After one day I stopped taking the course. Later I noticed charges on my credit card that I had never authorized or agreed to. I attempted to cancel the charges and cancel my subscription (I was unaware that their was a subscription). I contacted my bank and they also attempted to help me and I made a fraud claim. Months later (in June) I noticed that they were continuing to charge me $69.99. I again attempted to cancel the "subscription" and had to call a number and stay on the phone for 30 minuted pressing various buttons, listening to them tell me that I won't be achieving my goals before I finally got to the end of the call to fully cancel the subscription. I am still not sure that I won't be charged and I am still working with my bank to try and stop them from charging me. I am getting a new credit card, but I am still not sure how to stop this company.
Desired Outcome
I would like the charges to my account returned as I did not ever agree to any charges being sent. I would like $139.98 returned and I would like this company to destroy all of my personal information that they have.

entered Shaw Academy for trial. After two weeks I found the service not what was expected. I received a phone call where I cancelled and still charged
I entered to shaw academy for free trial. After two weeks I found the service not to be what I was expecting so left it. After a week of not entering the service, I received a phone call where I explicitly said I didn´t want to continue with the service because it was useless to me.
After a week and few days I notice a charge of 69.99 dollars in my bank account. A charge I did not make. I entered the Shaw Academy page and saw It was a charge for a month service I was not using. I tried to call someone but the phones never work. I cancelled the service but not refund option is available even when the month is just starting. No one helps in here.
I dont want Shaw Academy services, I said it to the person who talked me, a phone that is not working right now by the way. They sadly have a very cheating information. Just want my money back for a month I am not using.
I made the payment by paypal through my email ***@hotmail.com, the same email where you can send the refund.
Desired Outcome
I want a total refund of the $69.99 dollars. Because I am not using the month you are charging, I actually stop using the free trial 2 weeks after starting it and I told that so to a shaw academy representative that called me by phone.

My 4-week free trial hasn't ended, yet Shaw Academy charged me without my permission and keeps refusing to give me a full refund.
I signed up for a 4-week free trial through Swagbucks on June 13th. Upon signing up, I was ensured that 1) I won't be charged until the free trial period ends, and 2) I will be given a notification before the payment processes. None of these were ensured. I was charged $69.99 a day after I signed up for the service, June 14th, without any notification from Shaw Academy. Finding this out a week later, I immediately emailed their customer service only to receive replies from one of the representatives, Richard, repeatedly claiming that they are unable to process a refund and they will give longer terms of the service for free in return. I contacted another representative, Vaughan, to find a resolution but only to hear just to follow up with the previous email chain. The only thing Shaw Academy has done for me is to cancel my future subscription, but I see countless complaints about still being charged even after cancelling it, so I do not trust any of the words from Shaw Academy at this point and I AM entitled to receive a full refund by the terms and agreement that Shaw Academy themselves stated clearly.
Desired Outcome
I'd like to receive the full amount of $69.99 that was unfairly and discreetly charged by Shaw Academy.

Shaw academy do not want to refund me on my cancelled trial period and have deducted twice from my bank account.
I have subscribed to Shaw academy online course and at the end of the free trial period, I tried cancelling it. Their system allows to follow the cancelation steps but the last step is to phone a number. Upon phoning the number, there was no answer. I emailed them and they advised that they don't do refunds but will extend my course for 6months. On the 6th June, another deduction of R399.00 was deducted from my account and now I don't know how to get hold of them. I didn't benefit anything from their online course as I never used it and really just want my money back.

Also, I do not see any details in billing history of manage payment. I have been charged with 39.95 GBP on 14 May, 8th June and 19th June. There is option called "one click purchase". If we click this it accidentally also it automatically deducts money. It happened to me on 14 may, but on 8 and 19 june, they deducted without my consent. Can you please raise a complaint on them and help in refund my money back, thank you.
Desired Outcome
Can you please raise a complaint on Shaw acadamy and help in refund my money 120 GBP back, thank you.

Hi ***,
We would like to apologize for your recent experience. We're sorry to hear you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy. We are unable to locate your account, hence we request you to email us at ***@shawacademy.com with your concern from your registered email ID and we can help you sort this issue
On 21st of June I got tricked into paying one of their services on my phone and immediately got charged for £39.95 for something I didn't even know.
I signed up Shaw Academy's free trial A week ago and on 21 of June, I was just scrolling the website on my phone and they have all these adds popping up all the time and I always tried really hard to avoid clicking them but today I guess I failed as I suddenly got the notification from my credit card saying that I was charged for £39.95! I didn't even know what's it for and I certainly did not want it! There are too many adds luring around the website waiting for you to be tricked. And I wasn't aware they're so sensitive. Plus there wasn't even any final confirmation, they just took your money like that. It feels very wrong. And after this accident, I found out so many victims like me online and this company barely refund any of them. They even took your money after you cancel your subscription!! It's a theft. And that really worries me it might happen to me after I cancel my subscription (which I'm about to do and they force you to call someone in person to cancel it and it's Sunday today and there's only an automated response to my call, so I have to wait till Monday to see if I can talk to an actual person. This company has no legit customer service number or what so ever.) I sincerely hope my money can be refunded as I don't want to pay something I don't know what it is. At least ask people one last time if they want to purchase a service! It's really shady that this company just tricks people into paying something they're not aware of. They have all these campaigns around social media making them look so promising and that's why I signed up. But really to find out it's a very dishonest company. I don't understand why it's still operating after so many victims making online complaints?
I think my student number is XXXXX.
Please help.
Thank you!
Desired Outcome
Attached is the screenshot from my credit card transaction. I would like to have a refund of £39.95 GPB and cancel my subscription and if they can delete my account that would be even better.

I've signed up for the free 30day trial during the pandemic, ive cancelled the membership and I have been charged for another month.
To whom it may concern,
I've signed up for the free 30day trial during the pandemic thinking that it would a good time to keep active after losing my job and whilst actively applying for another.
The main reason for the trial was to see how the courses were and if relevant to my industry.
Attended two classes and decided that it wasn't for me so I've cancelled the membership before the 30 days free, to realise that I've actually been charged for another month despite not using it. There seems to be an awful lot of complaints on the same matter which is quite upsetting, however, I will still like my money back. Especially, during this time and without a job. Unacceptable malpractice for a company like this. So, I would kindly appreciate a refund.
I've had to cancel my card to ensure no further payments are being taken out of my account so please refund on the below.

I would like a refund of monies charged as I havenot ordered or received anything can cancelled the course well within the boundaries set by the terms and conditions

I have received my refund
just started the free trial of the Marketing course On Shaw Academy and I accidentally clicked module+ didn't realise it would charge me! Need refund
I only wanted to do the free course, but I clicked module to view what classes I had next and it charged me immediately! I have not used the module pack and didn't even know what it was and now I've been charged £40 without consent. I'm really not happy and want a refund ASAP.

I would like a refund in the amount of $69.99, my payment details permanently erased from your system, and my account permanently closed.

Hi,
The company issued a refund as requested.
I would like my $69.99 refunded.

I have tried repeatedly to cancel my account with Shaw Academy and they keep stalling to cancel coming up with every excuse imaginable.
I want my account canceled and no further contact.

So why do you keep lying and looking for excuses to charge me for things I never purchased? I demand a refund.

I would like the charges to my account returned as I did not ever agree to any charges being sent. I would like $139.98 returned and I would like this company to destroy all of my personal information that they have.

Signed up online course on March 22, 2020 for 4 weeks of free trial. I cancel before free trial ends on April 12, 2020, but Shaw keeps charging my credit card for the month of April and May. I have records of emails of the date I cancel. They now hide behind "terms and conditions" and refuse to offer my refunds. I have been communicating with Shaw for couple months and asked to speak to a supervisor but haven't not been provided a chance to speak to higher up nor reached any solution.
Cancellation of my *** and a full refund of any month that they have charged me since April 12, 2020.

entered Shaw Academy for trial.

I'd like to receive the full amount of $69.99 that was unfairly and discreetly charged by Shaw Academy.

I was finally reimbursed; I saw the amount $69.99 back in my bank account within 1 business day.
I signed up for a free subscription that was supposed to end 07/17/2020. They have charged my card for a payment of 69.99. False advertisement! Scam!
The subscription was supposed to be free until 07/17/2020. They have already charged my cards weeks in advance for 69.99 . This is a scam to get money from innocent customers. I want my refund . I didn't agree for my card To be charged Before 07/17/2020.
I want a full refund and cancellation of this program

They promised free until July 17th on the Facebook advertisement . They also promised to notify you 3 days before payments start to deduct from account. So, even if the program was offered at 28 days for free; which that wasn't the advertisement They still didn't notify me 3 days before the payment was debited from my account . That was on the teens as well.. Still false advertisement . I want my refund.

We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. However we just wanted to let you that all our post states that we offer free subscription for a period of 4 weeks and not 30 days.
I feel scammed and that they are not professional in getting back to their clients.
Please help me to get my refund?
Please remove me as a subscriber and refund me both payments that was wrongfully deducted from my account.

Course completion certificate not issued after payment
I had joined Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing Course at Shaw Academy and took up the Final Assignment on May 25, 2020 to Gain E-certificate, post-payment of 1500.
Since I didn't receive my certificate, I sent them an email on the same date. They have registered my query and provided a unique ID #XXXXXXX. This was the first and last email from Shaw Academy. I tried following up but didn't receive any response to any of my 4 follow-up emails.
Please find the attached result of final assessment that I took up.
Thanks

Hi,Shaw academy is charging to my card without my consent. I just took one month trial, added my card details, since then, they are charging to my account.
Can you please raise a complaint on Shaw acadamy and help in refund my money 120 GBP back, thank you.

Thank you!
Attached is the screenshot from my credit card transaction. I would like to have a refund of £39.95 GPB and cancel my subscription and if they can delete my account that would be even better.
Hi ***,
I have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged £39.95 GBP for the purchase (E Certificate for Professional Diploma in Graphic Design Module 1) you made via our one click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non refundable charge, however as a good will gesture I have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.
