On 21st of June I got tricked into paying one of their services on my phone and immediately got charged for £39.95 for something I didn't even know.
I signed up Shaw Academy's free trial A week ago and on 21 of June, I was just scrolling the website on my phone and they have all these adds popping up all the time and I always tried really hard to avoid clicking them but today I guess I failed as I suddenly got the notification from my credit card saying that I was charged for £39.95! I didn't even know what's it for and I certainly did not want it! There are too many adds luring around the website waiting for you to be tricked. And I wasn't aware they're so sensitive. Plus there wasn't even any final confirmation, they just took your money like that. It feels very wrong. And after this accident, I found out so many victims like me online and this company barely refund any of them. They even took your money after you cancel your subscription!! It's a theft. And that really worries me it might happen to me after I cancel my subscription (which I'm about to do and they force you to call someone in person to cancel it and it's Sunday today and there's only an automated response to my call, so I have to wait till Monday to see if I can talk to an actual person. This company has no legit customer service number or what so ever.) I sincerely hope my money can be refunded as I don't want to pay something I don't know what it is. At least ask people one last time if they want to purchase a service! It's really shady that this company just tricks people into paying something they're not aware of. They have all these campaigns around social media making them look so promising and that's why I signed up. But really to find out it's a very dishonest company. I don't understand why it's still operating after so many victims making online complaints?
I think my student number is XXXXX.
Please help.
Thank you!
Desired Outcome
Attached is the screenshot from my credit card transaction. I would like to have a refund of £39.95 GPB and cancel my subscription and if they can delete my account that would be even better.

Hi,Shaw academy is charging to my card without my consent. I just took one month trial, added my card details, since then, they are charging to my account. Also, I do not see any details in billing history of manage payment. I have been charged with 39.95 GBP on 14 May, 8th June and 19th June. There is option called "one click purchase". If we click this it accidentally also it automatically deducts money. It happened to me on 14 may, but on 8 and 19 june, they deducted without my consent. Can you please raise a complaint on them and help in refund my money back, thank you.
Desired Outcome

Course completion certificate not issued after payment
I had joined Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing Course at Shaw Academy and took up the Final Assignment on May 25, 2020 to Gain E-certificate, post-payment of 1500.
Since I didn't receive my certificate, I sent them an email on the same date. They have registered my query and provided a unique ID #XXXXXXX. This was the first and last email from Shaw Academy. I tried following up but didn't receive any response to any of my 4 follow-up emails.
Please find the attached result of final assessment that I took up.

Shaw academy do not want to refund me on my cancelled trial period and have deducted twice from my bank account.
I have subscribed to Shaw academy online course and at the end of the free trial period, I tried cancelling it. Their system allows to follow the cancelation steps but the last step is to phone a number. Upon phoning the number, there was no answer. I emailed them and they advised that they don't do refunds but will extend my course for 6months. On the 6th June, another deduction of R399.00 was deducted from my account and now I don't know how to get hold of them. I didn't benefit anything from their online course as I never used it and really just want my money back.
I feel scammed and that they are not professional in getting back to their clients.
Please help me to get my refund?

The subscription was supposed to be free until 07/17/2020. They have already charged my cards weeks in advance for 69.99 . This is a scam to get money from innocent customers. I want my refund . I didn't agree for my card To be charged Before 07/17/2020.

They promised free until July 17th on the Facebook advertisement . They also promised to notify you 3 days before payments start to deduct from account. So, even if the program was offered at 28 days for free; which that wasn't the advertisement They still didn't notify me 3 days before the payment was debited from my account . That was on the teens as well.. Still false advertisement . I want my refund.

Shaw Academy unathorized charges
After the tedious process of canceling the course, I knew I successfully canceled it after 2-3days of registration. I registered the 30days free membership thinking that I can have access on free graphic design materials on my most convenient time, but it is a course in a class and someone keeps on calling me during my sleep to attend the class. I am a busy working person and I don't have time for scheduled classes so I decided to cancel it right away. However they insist that I wasn't able to cancel it on time. I swear I canceled it and I know how hard it was because of series of steps that can be misleading. I registered May 16 and they charged me on June 13th. I was shocked because I thought I was able to cancel my registration to them, ok let's say I failed to cancel, they said there will be an email reminder I will receive before the expiry of the free trial if I will continue or not. But it is not true, I haven't heard from them eversince the day I canceled the membership. It's still within the trial period but they charged me automatically. They keep on offering me 700$ services, $$ certificates and extended membership for the inconveniece they caused but I am not asking for it. I can't understand why they keep on offering me services which cost a lot rather than giving back my $69.99. I immediately contacted them thru email as soon as I received a text message of the deduction from my paypal account.
Desired Outcome
Refund my hard earned money. Please don't do this especially this time of crisis. A lot of people lost their jobs.

Received the refund, although it was deducted for like $5 due to the exchange rate. I accepted it than nothing and stress. Thank you for your help and action Revdex.com!
They advertised a free course when, in reality, there were many points of purchase needed to finish one class and receive a certificate.
I decided to try Shaw Academy because of the pandemic. It was advertised as free of the nutrition course. Once signed up, I found out that to take the class, a payment was needed to unlock a toolkit. I wanted to cancel but missed hitting the x to cancel and ended up purchasing the tool kit as it is set up as a one-click purchase. This is how they're getting people. If I need an item, I shouldn't have to be tricked into buying it. The course also was only free for a period and had multiple modules that you then have to purchase numerous toolkits and then purchase the certificate. Over $60 later, all I have are emails telling me I didn't attend classes when I did, and instead of just guaranteeing a resolution, they talk in circles.
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund of all monies charged from Shaw Academy and my account deactivated.

What I wanted was to be refunded what I was charged. I would like in the end that this company changes how it operates.
Shaw Academy issued an unauthorized billing through a "one-click" buy-button without any warning.
Problem Date: 20th June 2020
Purchase Date: 20th June 2020
Payment method: Via Paypal
Transaction Code (Paypal): 9NXXXXXXTXXXXXXXY
Billing number: XXXXXXXX
Payment Amount: 39,00
Shaw Academy uses scammy methods to make users spend more money on their services. For one, it was incredibly hard to cancel my subscription and according to experiences from other users Shaw Academy still issues billings even after cancellation. Additionally, they will contact you even further using personal e-mail addresses and phone numbers.
My personal problem involes another scammy method they are using to deduct money easily. By putting "One-click" buy-buttons arbitrarly anywhere, it is only a matter of time to accidently push one of those. It would not be a problem if there would be a warning that asked the customer if they would really want to make that purchase, but pressing that button immediately issues a billing without any further notice! It does not even include a price tag which makes this even more absurd and cruel. So, while exploring their app, I accidently pushed one and Paypal immediately sent me an e-mail, telling me that 39 has been billed. I requested a refund, but their reply was that my e-mail was not registered in ther systems which is a blatant lie as I signed-up with said e-mail.
Furthermore, I wish them to delete my account, remove all personal information including e-mail address, phone number and name from their data banks, as their common practice is to contact users over and over again to persuade them to continue their subscription or send them unwanted advertisment.
Desired Outcome
I want Shaw Academy to refund my bill of 39,00 and delete my account and my personal information from their database, never contact me again through means of advertisment and refrain from issuing any other bill.

Shaw Academy charged my £39.95 without my authorisation via a pop window that I could not close. Unethical practice that they are refusing to resolve.
While taking part in a lesson a pop up window offered me a purchase of an e-diploma. I did not wish to purchase this and attempted to close the window. Thinking I had done so successfully I continued the lesson. Later when checking my bank account I see that they had charged me £39.95 via my debit card details. I did not authorise this payment and at no point was I asked to confirm the transaction, nor was I notified via email or message that I had made this purchase (despite getting approx 20 texts and emails PER DAY from Shaw Academy).
Due to this frankly unethical action by Shaw Academy I have decided to cancel my membership after 2 lessons. This in itself was not an easy task and I was constantly asked to stay and offered various incentives. I do not trust this company any more. I believe they are operating unethically as a business.
The way that the company duped me into this purchase via a pop up screen that you simply cannot click out of is an underhand way of upselling their services. I don't want the toolkit, the certificate or anything else that they are offering. Please assist in asking them to issue the refund immediately to me. Their customer service is not providing me with any assistance. I've read the terms and conditions and understand that I wouldn't be eligible for a refund had I knowingly purchased the certificate. However I never wanted to make that purchase and I believe the way they obtained that money from me was underhand. Putting a pop up on a window while someone is in the middle of a lesson only has one outcome - they will attempt to close said window. If the site is then "rigged" as I believe this one is, then your payment is taken. Having looked at other feedback from their previous customers I see that this is not an isolated incident.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund.

Profiting out of purposely ill-intentioned web design malpractices that leads customers to 'accidental' purchases and not refunding.
On June 18, 2020
Simply put, I was browsing my just recently acquired 'free-trial' from Shaw Academy, and a pop-up window; whose content I wasn't interested so I repeatedly kept closing it. So when I was clicking a completely different button on the page, the pop-up appeared again on top of what I was clicking, and made the immediate purchase, by the amount of $45,99 cad was charged to my card without any further confirmation. No billing has been sent to me.
I haven't used that purchases content, nor downloaded it yet.
I contacted the company for a refund, which they denied with the same message I see over similar (if not identical) complains right on this page. Refusing due terms of agreement policy. BUT they should refund due to 'just cause', since this is the incorrect content I desired to access when navigating through their page, and clarifying to them that this was an unintended purchase.
¿Why would I, just after 1 hour of getting my free-trial but not accessed any of their actual products content, be purchasing a whole package for a classes I haven't been able to ***?
I've seem dozens of reviews of shaw academy of people having the same issue, its truly outrageous that this keep happening to shaw academy's customers worldwide and that they get away with it.
Desired Outcome
A full refund of the amount charged to my credit card ($45,99 cad) for the only transaction we had

I got my refund back. So the damage done was repaired. However, this doesn't mean this could keep happening to other future customers, so watch out.
Also, besides from this incident, shaw academy has actual good offers, products and customer attention, if they could just only drop the unethical policies, this would be for sure a recommended business.
Shaw Academy obstructed the ability for me to cancel my membership, upon submitting a cancellation request, they charged me for a membership.
I signed up for a free one month trial, after using for 1 day, I decided I was no longer interested; however, I had no confirmation email for when I created my account, I was no longer able to log back in, and when I contacted customer service via email they did not have any of my account information on file. Even though they had no information of mine that proved I had an account, they were still able to charge my debit card. I tried to log in multiple times, request access to my account, but was not successful. Without being able to log into my account, I could not cancel the membership myself so I reached out to customer service again, but they requested I provide proof of transaction, email, name, and other infromation. At this point, I had already been charged for a membership (which was upgraded without my permission) and I had never even been able to log into my account since the day I created the account. Upon doing my research about this business, this seems to be a reoccuring issue and have decided to contact my bank, blacklist this company, cancel my card, and block all payments as a precautionary measure. Not only have I encountered instances where this company obstructs the right of the consumer to withdraw from membership individually, they have also been accused of not providing the content they advertise, which actually was my initial reason for wanting out.
Desired Outcome
I would like to be refunded for the $70 that were withdrawn from my debit card without my consent. I have taken plenty of action to prevent further charges from this company; however, I have already been charged a fee that I was intentionally avoiding. I would also like this company to post a statement that offers an explanation for this reoccuring loop scam that thousands of people have claimed to be a victim of.

This is like a virus that will infect your computer with terrible marketing. you will get calls and endless upsells and charges all from a free trial.
They billed me 39.95 for a certificate I never actually requested. They emailed and called night and day to get me to buy a study guide and this certificate and sign up for a 3/6/9month course and after 2 weeks of not giving in they billed me for it anyways even though I declined the popups. This is a shamelss company that is only trying to steal money from the pocket of people just looking for a free trial. When I started to complain they continued to harass me and tell me they would give me a 3 month credit etc but they would not refund me the money I never authorized them to bill me.
Desired Outcome
I just want a refund from the company for the certificate I did not order and do not want. I will be ashamed to ever put them on my resume and will look at any resumes who mention them with pity in my eyes for the rest of time.

While I am thankful you have refunded the money one should not have to spend hours arguing for a refund, you need to rewrite your business model for 2020. Sell a real product that makes me want to spend 40 or 400 or 4000 dollars. Please change your marketing and your business model. Also I should not have to call to cancel my membership.
Echoing what everyone else said below, I have NEVER had a worse experience with any company. This is my first Revdex.com review. I signed up for a one month trial with Shaw Academy on 5/24/20. I had it in my calendar to be sure to cancel by 6/23 to be safe. BUT NO, I just got charged $35 on 6/21/20 --which means they jumped the gun by several days!! and charged me.
To make matters worse, I tried to cancel earlier this month (because there was NOTHING GOOD ABOUT SHAW -- seriously, try ***!) and Shaw somehow convinced me to stay on so I could watch class recordings. My mistake.
But the worst part of my experience, other than not being able to get into my classes before OR AFTER they'd begun, was the SPAM CALLING all day long, day in and day out. They called from the UK, they called from all of their offices. Voice recordings of annoying marketing people - NONSTOP. Past midnight, even! And the emails, too! I had to block their numbers and ultimately went to my account details and changed my phone number and email by a few digits.
Anyways, with my word of mouth anti-marketing that's about to happen, I will make them rue the day they charged me early.
Shaw Academy takes money out of your account without you realizing it. When browsing through the website I was curious and clicked on a button to request a certificate. NOWHERE did it indicate that I had to pay money. They didn't take me to a payment screen, I never had to click on any button to accept the purchase. Only later on during the evening I found out they withdrew money from my account TWICE! This is unacceptable. When you offer a product, let the buyer know IF they are buying it and for WHAT PRICE. Non of these things were communicated to me. When I contacted them for a refund they declined. You can't mislead people like this. DON'T JOIN SHAW ACADEMY! SCAM SCAM SCAM
My experience is similar to all the others posted here - DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING WITH THIS HORRIBLE PLACE.
I landed a new job as a Project Manager and saw an ad for Shaw come through social media. I joined the free 4 week trial, knowing that due to COVID-19, I had been unemployed for over 3 months (I'm a contractor so no unemployement) and I wanted to up my skills. I had good intentions however as I love to learn and thought I would follow this course through once I started getting a paycheck.
The courses are not ONLINE - they are scheduled a horrible times, you get texts and emails and "YOU MISSED YOUR CLASS" and way too much communication. When I was able to attend one class, I realized you can only take them 1 per week or something so to finish the course, of course they will take your money.
I decided to cancel just five days after the supposedly FREE 4 week trial started and they make you call in to speak to a person. It's funny how you can call someone when you want to cancel but you can't reach someone when they've charged you fraudulently.
I spoke with "Lannice" from "customer service" and she tried to talk me into keeping the membership, I refused and requested an email confirmation and that I wouldn't get charged. She confirmed that I was cancelled and would not be charged but that if I changed my mind I could just reactivate my account.
I have the email. This was 5/26/20. Today, 6/20/20 I was charged $34.99. I have replied to Lannice's email 5 times, written a Customer Complaint Form on their site, used their so called "Chat" feature on their website, messaged them on Facebook and someone named AMELIA is now sending me an email saying that "she's sorry to hear that I didn't cancel my membership correctly but she's happy to tell me that they have extended my benefits for 6 months - happy studying!"
I have worked in customer service and this is the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. THe $34.99 came out of my account this morning when I had less than $80 to my name to feed my son and I until my first paycheck on June 30th. This is stealing, fraudulent and not acceptable.
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS COMPANY - they are SCAMMERS!!!!

Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I did never purchased their services.
I tried out the course after seeing an advertisement on Instagram - 4 weeks for $0 - and after trying it out and realizing I didn't have the time to commit to a full course, I cancelled my membership with their support team via the phone. She told me that I could get another four weeks to finish up the course free of charge, and after confirming with her multiple times that I didn't want to pay and that I would not be willing to pause the course if it meant I would be charged, I accepted the offer.
A day later, I see a charge for $40 on my credit card.
I reached out to another member of their team, who said this in response:
Unfortunately, there is no way at all a refund can be processed for you. Unfortunately, the issue remains that the terms and conditions were made readily available, you have clicked on the button to purchase and it clearly states that a purchase will go through with you clicking and following that process. you have completed the transaction and we have made available the content for which the payment was made. We cannot offer a refund in these circumstances as the revenue has been recognized as per our revenue recognition policies which we cannot alter.
As mentioned, I had never purchased this membership myself (you're forced to input credit card data for the free trial). After trying to clarify this with the team member, Anna, she said:
Unfortunately, we don't have a call support team. It'll be my pleasure to acknowledge all your queries up to your satisfaction. We will be more than happy to help you with all support. If you need any further assistance ever, please contact us back.
I wanted to write this post to discourage people to use Shaw Academy and let others know that it is a scam.
Desired Outcome
$40 refund and a membership cancellation

Hi ***,
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.
Accepted a deal from them for 6 month membership, all course tools kits and hard copy diploma. The tools kits and diploma are still locked.
I received a phone call from Moegamat of Shaw Academy on June 16 2020. In this call he offered me a 6 month subscription, my course tool kits, hard copy diploma 'sent directly to my door' and a personal representative if I have any questions or concerns, I agreed as I saw the tool kits as valuable and price reasonable and they charged my PayPal account $139 CAD.
Immediately I logged in to see my new tool kits and diplomas, none were unlocked, so I attempted to click on it to see if it would unlock. No, it immediately charged my account $45 CAD.
I attempted to contact Shaw Academy PayPal account and my personal representative, however I didn't receive a response till I emailed Shaw Academy directly. As I did not receive what I was told I would, I asked for my money back, to which they respond with offering tools kits and diplomas for free as if I wasn't supposed to be receiving them already. Unfortunately, due to not receiving what I was offered initially I am very hesitant to move forward with this company in any capacity, and then after taking a close look at my email, they do not provide receipts for the services that you purchase.
Desired Outcome
Refund please, I would no longer like to continue my education with Shaw Academy as they have lost my trust.

Thank you!

Can you please raise a complaint on Shaw acadamy and help in refund my money 120 GBP back, thank you.

Thanks

Please remove me as a subscriber and refund me both payments that was wrongfully deducted from my account.

I signed up for a free subscription that was supposed to end 07/17/2020. They have charged my card for a payment of 69.99. False advertisement! Scam!
The subscription was supposed to be free until 07/17/2020. They have already charged my cards weeks in advance for 69.99 . This is a scam to get money from innocent customers. I want my refund . I didn't agree for my card To be charged Before 07/17/2020.
I want a full refund and cancellation of this program
Hi ***,
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies.I have reviewed your account and would like to inform you that you had signed up on 20th May.
Hi ***,
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. However we just wanted to let you that all our post states that we offer free subscription for a period of 4 weeks and not 30 days.

They offered to return payment

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS COMPANY - they are SCAMMERS!!!!
im being charged and unable to stop the charges. they are not mine. I want my money back.
I am being charged 69.99 with *** that isnt mine. stop *** charging me.
i want a refund.

On may 19th I signed up for a 4 week free trial. On June 9th My billing card was charged nearly 100 GBP, a week before the free trial was over. On 15th June I attempted to cancel my account but found out I had already been switched to a premium service. I have been emailing their support asking why my card was charged before the free trial was over and asking for a refund but have been told that they can't refund me.
I would like a full refund of the charge.

$40 refund and a membership cancellation

Refund please, I would no longer like to continue my education with Shaw Academy as they have lost my trust.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I would like a full refund, you promised things with the $139 payment that you failed to deliver on and are still locked, as well as a personal representative that still hasn't responded to me.
Hi ***,
I have personally reviewed your account and noticed that the offer has been already been activated. Please log out and login back to your account. If you still see the items locked please share the screenshot of the error so we have this investigated further.
Please Note- Offer has been activated as promised and the charge has already been reverted, hence no further refund can be processed.
