I signed up for a month free trial. I attended a few classes and decided that they weren't for me (they were all prerecorded videos). I attempted to call and cancel, but the phone number listed just had this weird music playing. So I emailed on the 3rd and asked to cancel my account. This was well within the month trial period. After a few back and forth emails, my account was "cancelled" on the 10th. I was then charged $69 on the 11th. I disputed this, and they told me there was nothing they could do, even though I had done everything in my power to cancel my account, and it was still within the month period. I wish I read these other reviews before blindly signing up. I've just never had this problem before and can't believe that they're continuing to take advantage of people, especially during a time where many are unemployed and simply trying to better themselves. This company is a fraud.
I signed up for 4 weeks free plan but they charged me 69'99$ at the first visit to their website. They literally stole my money. Awful and can't believe it.
I was charged without my approval
I was charged $69.99 for a course before my 4 week trial was up. They called me the day before to remind me that my course trial would be up in 5 days but proceeded to charge me anyway. I looked for a number to call and all are disconnected. They only have a robot to speak to or email. RED FLAG when you don't have an active working phone number to speak to an actual human.
Desired Outcome
I want to be refunded my money immediately.

False charges on my credit card
Shaw academy is big scam. First, they saved your credit card information to start the 4 week trial pack. Then, they charged on your credit Carr without your consideration and your response. After that they denied to get refund and say you try to purchase this things, which you never tried.
Desired Outcome
I wan my refund from them because I did not purchase anything over there.

I never click on the purchase button. They have great market strategy for just one click and I know it. I take extra precaution after seeing one click purchase And I did not touch on that bar, I'm not stupid or robot that I can click on that for huge amount of money. I read on your website, the previous customer has same issue of mine, they also have same deduction. This is market strategy of Shaw academy, first they saved your card Information and then they charged for money which for nothing and response like you bought something.

Yes. They provide my refund on card. So I got my solution and I want to close this case. Thank you for all support.
Shaw Academy billed me US$12,99 for only clicking on a popup ad and refused to refund me.
I signed up (ID: they deleted my account from their database but my login e-mail was ***@outlook.com) for a trial course (28 days) on 06.19.2020 and took my first photography class on 06.22.2020. After attending the 2nd class I was looking to take the quiz and I clicked on "toolkit" by mistake (popup ad) and suddenly got a PayPal notification that I had been billed US$12,99
There wasn't even any information about what this toolkit about - no warning of making a payment, just an immediate charge.
The only way to cancel is by calling a toll number over the phone, but when I canceled mine there was no number to call.
They've already refused to refund me, but I won't give up.
I've talked to Preston and Renny, a guy from the support team, so far.
They've pushed me things like a credit to the value of $199 which can be used for your Certificate of Completion and also 3 remaining module toolkit and 1 hard copy diploma and 3 months of additional subscription.
I opened tons of tickets regarding to this: #XXXXXXX, #XXXXXXX, #XXXXXXX. I've talked to my bank and paypal too
Desired Outcome
I'd like them to refund me immediately and send me a proof of this. As well as deleting my account and information form their database.

I reached out to Shaw Academy regarding a accidental purchase of a toolkit while trying to join a class and they refused. I explained that I wanted to cancel my trial due to my frustration with not receiving a refund as well as being inundated daily with emails and phone calls. Instead of canceling, they extended another 30 days. I expressed that I was not interested in another 30 days and they refused to honor my request. I receive tons of unnecessary emails and calls daily. While on the phone with one representative, I was being called on the other line by another.
I would like my money refunded for the toolkit purchase that I never used and I would like my membership cancelled.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund for the purchase of the toolkit and for my membership to be canceled.

Cancellation not processed properly, charged and refused refund.
I called to cancel within the free trial period but it appears that the cancellation wasnt processed correctly as I was still charged. I called to cancel again, and asked for a refund as per the issues above. The cancellation process is also very stressful, you have to call and it takes about ten minutes of listening to an increasingly immoral sales spiel. I am autistic and struggle on yhe phone. From an accessibility standpoint, the process is unmanageable, it took me five calls in total to repeat the cancellation process twice because the directions constantly push you to soend more money and stay with the company. It preys upon the vulnerable.
Desired Outcome
A refund of £49.99

I was charged another 6-month subscription for my account that was already cancelled before my 1-month trial ended.
I have used this online learning back when I was on maternity leave as they had a promotion of 50% off for 6-month subscription. Before end of 6 months I decided to cancel my subscription but then they had 1-month free trial which I tried to take and later on finally decided to cancel it for good as I don't have time to do their lessons as I am back to work and busy with kids. Then I checked my current bank statement and I was charged another 6-month subscription for my account that was already cancelled. I emailed them regarding the issue, and the response I got was that they cannot find my email add in the system. They are asking for my full name and credit card again.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund for the charge.

I am a 15-year-old kid. I signed up for a free trial and didn't realize I was signing up to be scammed. I was 1 day late canceling my membership and I was changed. They took literally all of my money! When I asked for a refund, they refused, saying it was "inconvenient" for their finance department to issue a refund. Terrible business, and extremely unethical. In addition, they continue to spam me with emails and texts. After reporting them as spam in my email, and blocking the phone number, they simply changed phone numbers and emails and kept on spamming me with "buy this, do that, pay us more money." Do not sign up with them, and whatever you do, do not give them your phone number and email.
My card was charged after I had already canceled the free trial
Within less than a week, I canceled the free trial, but a month later, May 2020, my card was charged by shaw academy, and AGAIN June 2020. I reached out but got no response to get my refund
Desired Outcome
I'd like my refunds!

I did the free trial advertised online and cancelled but was still charged.
I saw an advertisement for a free 30 day trial for one of their courses. I did that course and then missed the cancellation date. I called and cancelled my subscription so no further charges would be accrued. 4 weeks later I was charged for another 4 weeks subscription. I didn't use their services after the free trial and don't intend to use them any further. I simply want the money back that I rightfully own.

The company is issuing a refund which is what I was asking for.
I signed up for a free photo class trial, had a horrible experience, asked for a refund, was never contacted back, and was charged again against will
I signed up for a 1 month photography trial class and immediately on day one was dissatisfied with the disorganization because the times I signed up for to take the class we're not when I was getting reminder phone calls and emails. Ie- I signed up for a 10am Saturday class and got an email and phone call at 7am saying the class started and I needed to reschedule. This happened twice and I reached out on the message portal where my frustrations were addressed by a robot who said things like "Way to be engaged in class. Keep it up". I clicked a link on the page thinking THAT would bring me to my first class and was immediately charged $35 for some kit I didn't want. I reached out to be refunded with zero success. I made sure to go through the steps of canceling my membership weeks before the one month trial was up so I wouldn't be sitting here writing this complaint. Sure enough I saw today a pending charge of $69.99 from Shaw Academy for a trial class which I had already gone through the lengthy steps to cancel my subscription to. Seeing all the reviews of this company, I had to write to the Revdex.com. I'm out $104.99 for a photography class I was never able to take during a pandemic. I want to be fully reimbursed and have written reviews and filed complaints now twice with Shaw. Please help!
In the interest of not losing this form I've already filled out, I will submit documentation if asked as I did not screen shot my bank account charges and am on my phone. Thanks.
-
Desired Outcome
I'm seeking a full refund in the amount of $104.99 for the two wrongful charges of $35 and $69.99 by Shaw Academy who I did EVERYTHING in my power to make sure would not wrongfully charge me.

this company stole my money and endanger me in face of economic crisis by COVID-19
I signed up in this web site on May 28th because I though the courses look interesting and it was the only way to give a further look to the courses. In the moment of the subscription they give me a free 4-weeks trial during the time I will not be receiving any charges in my paypal account. However, the day June 23th, BEFORE THE FREE TRIAL EXPIRED, I cancelled my subscription and IMMEDIATLY an amount of 99.95 euros was charged to my credit card through my paypal account. I reported this as an authorized payment given the fact that I HAD JUST CANCELLED MY SUSBCRIPTION BEFORE DE EXPIRATION DATE. I will pursue legal actions against this company who endangered me by stealing my money in this critical economical time that we live due to Covid-19. DO NOT subscribe to this site.
Desired Outcome
I am expecting the full refund of 99.95 euros charged to my credit card though my paypal account.

Wouldn't process my refund. Stay away!! Their policies are a scam. Many unhappy consumers as one can see by all these complaints.
I had emailed Shaw Academy to cancel due to not having access to a computer. I tried to do it on my phone but was unable to cancel as it does not have any option to do so in the phone requiring you to log on to a computer and do it. I never heard back from Shaw but then saw a charge for there subscription. I signed up for a free trial. prior to the end of that trial, I attempted to cancel but discovered that the company will allow cancellations to take place by phone and on weekdays only. because the trial ended on a saturday, I was forced to call the following monday. by then, the company had already debited my paypal account and now refuses to refund my money. The business charged me after I tried canceling my subscription.
I enrolled in the free 1 month trial for Shaw Academy evasive I wanted to see what their photography class was like. They harass you with phone calls almost every day and emails and there is no way to change a setting to avoid this. My last class was on Friday June 19, 2020. I wasn't quite done with the videos so I wanted to wait a day until I canceled. I went in and tried to cancel my membership on Saturday June 20, 2020 but was told that I was going to have to call them in order to actually cancel my membership but that their offices are only open Monday through Friday from 9-5. On Sunday June 21, 2020 I was charged $69.99 for another month membership. On Monday June 22, 2020 I called to cancel my membership and see if I could get a refund for the mistake. They canceled my membership but said I much email their support to request a refund. I got an email back from support saying that I did not cancel it by the end of my one month trial so I was charged and they directed me to the terms and conditions. However, no where in the terms and conditions that I saw did it say you must call them Monday through Friday 9-5 in order to cancel, just that it had to be canceled. I was given 6 months of classes, but with how much they harass you and how little I enjoyed the class I do not want to continue taking classes there.
Desired Outcome
I want my $69.99 back since they didn't inform you that you needed to call on a week day to cancel your subscription.

I do not have a record. I went through the instructions and then was told to call XXX XXX XXXX to finish cancelling, which I did. I have seen many other complaints about this exact same issue, many of which are on Revdex.com. There is absolutely no reason that cancelling a subscription should be such a convoluted process. The only reason I can fathom that the process is so complicated is because Shaw academy is hoping that their customers will not be able to complete it, or will just forget. This practiceipractice disingenuous at best, and fraudulent at worst.

Charged without warning for a service that I was cancelling.Their tactics are aggressive.
First I was harassed about attending classes and even after attending the class I was contacted multiple times informing me that I had missed the class. Classes were supposed to be an hour long, they started around 45 minutes and by class #6 were 15 minutes, not to mention the teacher speaks at a very fast rate. I was going to cancel today June 24th but was already charged without warning. This is their information on the invoice:

I went to cancel the account today and was sent through a very aggressive process to cancel which was extremely off putting. I have read on different forums that this is pretty standard for them. I have contacted them and am awaiting their response. Although I am worried as most on reviews have said that they will not contact me regarding a refund. I cancelled on the day that the free window had ended. I didn't agree to a renewal, it was forced upon me. After some research this company has been accused of scamming customers in multiple countries. Also the content that was promised was much less than advertised, most classes ended with 10 mins of advertising. Classes were booked for an hour and ranged from 30-15 minutes. None the less, I was charged without warning and they took advantage of customers looking to better themselves.

Coincidentally I cancelled the same day you had charged me, which I thought was my last day of the free membership trial. In addition you do not allow people to cancel online so how would I provide a screenshot? You force people to call a number that then asks you 5 times to reconsider not cancelling, which to me is harrassment. Your tactics are that of a fraudulent company, taking money from people that are simply looking to better themselves through education. Considering I did not use your services after the allotted free trial time a refund is the only resolution.

Thank you.
The free 1-month online course is a trap!
We tried the so-called 1-month free online course for our son. After one month, we don't think it's good for our son and wanted to cancel. Then we found our Paypal account was automatically charged $69.99 for no reason. Don't know how Shaw Academy/Paypal got this automatic payment setup without our authorization.
We emailed Shaw Academy, but without any response. We logon online and tried to cancel the membership online, it didn't work. In simple word, no matter what you do, they just don't allow you to cancel. Also they list some local phone number to contact, but never got answered.
We searched online and found numerous similar complaints reported online, not just us. So we don't know why how this company can still exist without any further investigation. It's a typical fraud company! Hopefully my Revdex.com complaint will help future victims.
Desired Outcome
Get the full refund $69.99 asap.

Yes, you company can play those tricky T&C and take the advantage against customers. Probably you can win in a short time, but absolutely no longer time. Good luck, that's the only words I can say.

I wan my refund from them because I did not purchase anything over there.
Hi ***,
We're sorry to know you were less than satisfied with Shaw Academy and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies.
Hi ***,

They just want to convince that I clicked that one time purchase button. But I did not click on that purchase and I cannot prove but tell them that they can prove that how I clicked that purchase.
I never clicked on that and never tried to buy anything on that website. I only start the free trial course which is run about 4 week period, and they saved my credit card detail for the free trial course.

I've talked to my bank and paypal too
I'd like them to refund me immediately and send me a proof of this. As well as deleting my account and information form their database.
Hi ***,
We have reviewed your account and would like to inform you that we had already processed the refund as on 3 July, however you bank declined the transaction due to the active dispute that you had logged against us. Please write to us as soon as this is resolved.

I reached out to Shaw Academy regarding a accidental purchase of a toolkit while trying to join a class and they refused.
I would like a refund for the purchase of the toolkit and for my membership to be canceled.
Hi ***,
My apologies for the experience you have had thus far. We have reviewed your account and would like to confirm that we have charged $39.95 for the purchase (Toolkit for Diploma in Illustrator) you made via our one click purchase option. As per our Terms and Condition mentioned to you during the registration this is a non refundable charge, however as a good will gesture I have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days. We have also cancelled your membership as per your request.

If they follow through, they would have resolved both situations to my satisfaction.

I would like a refund of $69.99 back to my account that was charged.

Thanks.
-
I'm seeking a full refund in the amount of $104.99 for the two wrongful charges of $35 and $69.99 by Shaw Academy who I did EVERYTHING in my power to make sure would not wrongfully charge me.

this company stole my money and endanger me in face of economic crisis by COVID-19
I am expecting the full refund of 99.95 euros charged to my credit card though my paypal account.

UPDATE II: They have answered to my complaint that I had subscribed to a "Quarterly membership" and that is why they charged me with that amount, this is AFTER they answered to my emails saying that I had cancelled my free trial after the expiration date! This only proves that I had been SCAMMED BY THIS COMPANY!! I DID NOT AGREED TO ANY MEMBERSHIP IN THE SAME DAY THAT I HAD CANCELLED MY SUBSCRIPTION!! I demand a full refund for my 99.95 euro!!!
Hi ***,
The refund has already been processed from our end and will be credited back to the source in next 3-5 business days.

I was contacted via phone about upgrading membership to premium. I was subscribed to a free trial. I told agent no proceeded to charge me anyway
On June 23, 2020 I was contacted by this company to expand my services. I had a free trial. Agent asked if I wanted to upgrade- I hesitated and told him no. He proceeded to charge my account anyway- did not provide transaction number or receipt. I asked him to refund it he said he wasn't able to do that. Only received an email
I would like to be refunded the full amount as I did not authorize them to do this!

Customer service continues to Make offers but I had told them again and again I am not interested and to give back full refund. Their policies are scam like. Stay away!!
Refund all the money I was charged.

signed up for free trial; discovered cancellation could only happen by phone, weekdays only. was charged before I could call to do so; refused refund.
I informed them that I would file a complaint if they continued to refuse, but that was not sufficient to get them off the mark.
refund in full.

I want my $69.99 back since they didn't inform you that you needed to call on a week day to cancel your subscription.

I was charged $35 1 month after my free trial ended, even though I canceled my account with 12 days left on my trial.
I signed up for a 1 month free trial with Shaw academy. I canceled my account on June 9, 2020, with 12 days left of my free trial. Yesterday I was charged $34.99 even though I had already cancelled my account well before my trial expiration date.
I would like my money refunded. I never even used the service and cancelled well within the allowed time parameters.

Hi ***,
We completely understand that our cancellation process is not limited to a click of a button. However any business would try all possible steps(providing better offers) to retain their consumers, which we are not different from. Well that being said we would also like to inform you that there so many students who are with happy with our service and was able to cancel their account without any hassle just by following the instruction. Even though you failed to submit any supporting documents we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to your source within the next 3-5 business days.

For an 'educational institution' this is completely unacceptable.
I would simply like a refund.

We are sorry to let you down with this experience. However, I would surely want to help you with the same, But as we have no records of you requesting us to cancel the membership before the date/time of auto-renewal hence we request you to kindly provide us with any details or screenshot related to this issue which would help us know that you had contacted us in anyways on time so that we can help you with this issue and get this resolved ASAP, Kindly provide details through Emai- ***@shawacademy.com

Get the full refund $69.99 asap.

You company cannot do business like that. I have never authorized any automatic payment in Paypal, unless you company (with Paypal) set up some tricky way to ENABLE the automatic payment. Also, you company never sent any coming automatic charge notification, which is against the business law. Go to online to see how many complaints against you company about this trap.
