During the free trial period I was charged for a product that I never purchased.
I started a 4 week Free Trial Graphic Design course with Shaw Academy LLC on June 3 & on the same day I was charged $39.95 for a digital Toolkit that I never purchased. The Toolkit offer was in the form of a popup in the member trial account & when it popped up I clicked on the X in the corner to close the screen, however, I was told that I purchased it & it could not be refunded because it was a digital product. The Toolkit has never opened or accessed because I never purchased it & why would I purchase a Toolkit on the very first day of the course. I followed the steps to cancel my free trial & try to request a refund only to be on hold with music for almost an hour. So I contacted them through Facebook & they stated they would get back with me & sent a message through their website contact us page. I finally received an email stating just what I said above that I had purchased the digital product & a refund could not be granted & instead of them cancelling my free trial they offered more free stuff. I have sent several messages but it's always the same process of not refunding the $39.95 & offering me more free stuff but not cancelling the free trial. The end of this free trial course is June 29, 2020 & I have not taken anymore courses since June 4th when I checked my Paypal account & saw they had charged me; I wish for the free trial to be cancelled as they stated could be done before June 29th & a refund of $39.95.

I have tried for weeks to cancel my membership after taking advantage of the promo trial membership. Cannot reach anyone to cancel. No human contacts.
When I tried to cancel my trial membership prior to being billed for the first month at regular rate the system took be through multiple steps before advising Canadian students had to call an Ontario # to cancel. I have tried that number at various times of day for weeks with no success. Its automated and sounds sketchy. Does not sound or do they behave like this is a legitimate education/training business.I just want to cancel and get my last charge refunded to me.

I just want my membership cancelled with written confirmation of this, along with refund of the last charge taken from my account.

The business has finally addressed my concerns by canceling my membership with them and refunding the last payment as I had been trying to request for weeks.

A Refund for a Module
I was extremely excited to take this course (Graphic Design). I had no intention on buying anything seeing as it was a free course. Yet, when I checked my email it showed where a module/ lesson was purchased. I've email them and I've cancelled my subscription because I am afraid they will charge me for something else. I would just like a refund

I was charged $69.99 by Shaw Academy: They ended my "free trial" early and without their promised warning of charges pending. I am owed a refund.
I signed up for a "free trial" with the Shaw Academy, hoping to take advantage of forced downtime to improve my SEO skills. The trial I was offered was either for "one month" or "30 days"I'd need to check. Shaw made it very clear that everyone is sent at least one reminder email that their trial will be ending before any charges are made.

The next weeks were hectic. I did not get a chance to use my Shaw Academy trial at all. I was aware my trial would be ending at some point, but I had not yet received any of the promised alerts.

Then I woke up to find I had been charged by Shaw for the next month. This was 28 days after I'd signed upso, they gave me neither 30 days nor the standard assumption of one month equalling 30 days.

I wrote to them to say I'd received no warning of charges; that they'd ended my trial early; and that I'd changed my mind about their courses and would need a refund.

They replied that they "could not" refund my money but would extend my trial for the next 6 months. This sounded reasonable. But then I Googled them and found that they have a longstanding practice of doing what they did to me. They end trials early; they make it difficult or impossible to cancel one's trial; they charge for things without making it clear that they'll be charging; etc., etc.many methods of extracting money dishonestly. And they always refuse to issue a refund.

I've seen that many others have had their issues with Shaw Academy resolved via the Revdex.com. I hope you can do the same for me. I've lost any interest in dealing with them. It's a shame, because I wanted to take classes; but this is obviously not a legitimate enterprise. It seems that they have been taking advantage of people all the more during this pandemic, which is disgusting.

Desired Outcome

I was charged $69.99 by Shaw Academy. I am owed a refund, for the reasons stated above, and that is what I want, in full. I will not use the "free" 6 months of classes they offered me, as it seems highly likely that during that time, they'd continue with their unauthorized charges. I can provide proof of my payment, the date I signed up, the date I was charged, evidence that they promised to alert me before processing any charges, and other documentation if it is needed.

Shaw Academy is a scam/fraudulent company promising free trials. They charged me full price even though I canceled during the free trial period.
On 6/6/2020 I decided to research Shaw Academy as they promote affordable courses online. I was excited to read that they would give you a glimpse of what their company was about by just signing up for a free trial. The free trial would last for approximately a week according to their website. Shen I signed up, I read terms and conditions along with course curriculums to further gain knowledge on their company. After just reading for a couple of hours. Within the same business day, I decided this program was not form me and immediately canceled. Shaw Academy agreed to my immediate cancellation (I attached cancellation email) and therefore I would not get charged anything. To my surprise I see my bank statement within the following week and noticed that although I received the cancellation email on the same day I signed up, they did not actually cancel. I was so shocked and upset that I immediately reached out to them requesting a refund and they kept replying with automated emails indicating they would reach back to me. It is now 6/11/2020 and they still have not been able to provide me with a refund. Instead they are stating they have no record of my cancellation request. Even though I clearly attached the cancellation request and proved to them that I indeed canceled. Apparently this was not enough for them. They are running a fraudulent company. I do not recommend anyone to sign up with Shaw Academy.

Desired Outcome

All I am kindly requesting is a full refund. I did not benefit from their courses as I immediately canceled during the free trial period. This is all that I want. I cannot afford to lose this money especially now during this pandemic crisis.

I accept this response but I do not appreciate Shaw Academy saying I did not cancel in time. I obviously did cancel otherwise they would not have sent me the cancellation confirmation email. This is their way of making them selves look good for future buyers of their programs. Just accept it for what it is and dont try to make us look like liars. I canceled and have attached that email to Revdex.com.

Unauthorize credit card charge
Absolute spam!!! I signed for 4 weeks FREE trial program. I provided my credit card information as it requires. Right after I subscribed they offered me to purchase the classes, I refused. Then they send me the link to registre for my first class. I followed the link and they charged my card, I didn't even had a chance to realize what just happened. The only available option contact them was via e-mail. I explained the situation and how unfair and unexpected this trick with the link was, however instead of apologizing and returning my money they replied some nonces about how good their school is and then refused to issue me a refund.

I want you to block this webpage in US and I want my money back. I contacted PayPal and they acted on my behalf but this spam organization is still sending me e-mails where they refuse to issue the refund

I cancelled my membership thru their site but they ask me to call a number which cannot be dialed. And now they are charging my credit card.
I cancelled my membership using my profile in their website but they will tell you that it cannot be fully cancelled unless you will call the number they gave and then give my atudent reference number XXXXX. But the contact number they gave for Phillipines cannot be completely be dialed. I've been trying to call it for a month now. And now they are charging me 500 philippine pesos in my credit card. Why can't they just cancel my membership directly in their site? They instead make it hard for their member to cancel from their program by giving incorrect numbers so they can continue on charging people with their membership whom they don't even avail... I did not even use their product nor gone thru their courses and yet they charge me.

I seek that they cancel my membership totally and stop charging my credit card. And a refund.

Shaw Academy will NOT let you cancel. They will NOT pick up the phone, even though they require you to call to cancel.
Free trial was started less than a week ago, I've tried to cancel several times, sending multiple emails, going through a cancellation process on their app and on their webpage, as well as calling 7 times.

Both the app and the webpage direct you to call a number in order to cancel, otherwise they will charge you $70/month. However, after waiting several minutes, there is no message played to even indicate that you are waiting on the correct line. Just ambiguous music keeps playing.

Charged $69.99 for a membership even though I cancelled well before my free trial was up. I have documentation of these dates but they will not refund
On May 8th I signed up for a 4-week free trial of Shaw Academy and provided them with my PayPal information. I received an email from Shaw Academy welcoming me as a member. I completed the program in less than 4 weeks and cancelled my account online. Then it said I had to call to finish the cancellation. I called to cancel my membership on June 2nd which was three days before my free trial expired. I received an email verifying that my account was closed. I can provide both these emails if needed. Immediately after the call to cancel I received an email from PayPal that my account had been charged $69.99 from Shaw Academy. Immediately I called back to Shaw Academy and was told that the charge was accidental and had already been refunded. 2 Days Later I called Shaw Academy again because I still had not received the refund. I was told that no refunds had been issued and that my case would be sent to billing. Since that day I have not been able to contact anyone over the phone at Shaw Academy as no one answers. I have contacted through email where I was told that I had exceeded the four-week trial period before I cancelled, which is not the case. I do have the emails to prove my start date as well as my cancellation date and will attach the. Thank you.

I received a refund.

I was billed before my free trial was up and I tried to cancel 4 days earlier but they make it very hard to cancel. It's a scam.
I tried to cancel Shaw Academy online before my free trial was up. They make it seem like you can cancel online but you can't - after clicking through multiple windows they require you to call a sketchy phone number (one that is not recognizable as a Canadian phone number) to 'confirm your cancellation.' I took a screenshot when I tried to cancel of the 'student number' I would be required to give over the phone - the screenshot is timestamped for Sunday June 7. I saw online when I tried to cancel that I had 4 days left in the free trial, so due to some work issues, I was only able to call on the last day. Unfortunately, that same morning my card had been charged. So when I called to cancel, I explained that this was the last day of the trial and I didn't know why they had charged me. After being told to contact billing, I was told I could not get a refund even though I was charged a day early. I just want my 70 dollars back for a service I didn't end up using. I should not need to call to confirm I was canceling when you have a cancel button on your website, I have the screenshot stamped from 4 days earlier that I was cancelling, and you still charged me. This is a scam designed to make it hard to cancel and they will charge you before your free trial is officially over.

I called to cancel and the employee would not let me, saying he would add me to the course for free. They still charged $70 and won't respond to me.
On may 13th I called and talked to denver j*** to cancel my membership which was a free trial at the time. He would not let me cancel. Instead he told me he would add me to the program free of charge. I have an email from him for proof. I asked him several times to assure me I would never be charged and he confirmed. I was charged $70 a couple days ago and when I email customer service I got a response saying they wouldn't issue a refund. I told them I had proof that I was told I wouldn't be charged and they won't respond now. I also tried contacting Denver j*** directly and he didn't respond either.

Taking payments for services we were advised would be free.
Hi, we subscribed to the four week free course, but decided to cancel straight away. Telephoned cancelation department and was advised that because we wanted to cancel due to the extra charges for the toolkit and ecertificate they would provide them for free. Upon checking, were were charged £39.95 each for these. A total of £79.90. After multiple emails back and forth, we were advised that instead of refunding we would have three months added on to the membership for free. A week later the monthly membership of £49.99 was taken out of my account. This brings the total of payments you have taken for services we were advised would be free to £129.89. Multiple emails later and still no sign of a refund, only advice that we signed up to the service therefor the payments would not be refunded. I would like a full refund of all of this money.

I was charged for services while still within my trial period, after confirming with a rep that I would not be charged.
I called Shaw Academy on May 27,2020 to complete the last step of cancelling my 4 week trial membership, 10 days before my membership was set to expire. I spoke with Werner Plyman, on May 27,2020 who convinced me extend my trial period for an additional 30 days, FOR FREE. He also added in free tool kits and other perks, FOR FREE. Well. 10 days later my card was charged $69.99 AND $1.50 on June, 6, XXXXX. I have email confirmation from Werner Plyman of the above mentioned.

After being charged, I attempted to contact Shaw University via the phone number listed in the portal. Which is a complete different number than the first time I called to cancel. This phone number does not ring, and automatically gives you busy music when you call. I attempted to reach back out to Werner Plyman, but I have not received a reply, and the name under the said email account is now JP Hinrichsen.

I would like a complete refund of both charges deducted from my PayPal account.

I want to cancel my membership and delete my account of Shaw Academy.
I would like to cancel and delete my Shaw Academy account immediately before my free-trial period has ended.

I sign up Shaw Academy on June 2, 2020.
When I sign up, I was required to register my credit card information. And they said that the first 30 days are free trial period. On June 10, I decided to cancel and delete my account.

When I tried to cancel my account online, there was a message;
"Confirm your cancellation
We're sorry you're thinking of leaving us.
To confirm your cancellation you are required to call the number for your specific country provided below.
Our business hours are 9am - 5pm EST Monday to Friday.
Country Number:US +X XXX XXX XXXX
Student number:XXXXX
You will need to reference this number during that call."

However, nobody answered and there was a loop op music when I called the number.

I want them to cancel my membership before I get charged. My student number is XXXXX.

Misleading and Sketchy, stay as far away as possible! SCAM!
I signed up for a free project management course and everything seemed fine. While checking my schedule my page wasnt loading so I started clicking on the page like a madman, happened to load and all of a sudden I see I misclicked on purchase a hard copy of my diploma one click buy. Considering they take your credit card information when signing up for the "free" course I tried closing the page but it was too late. They charged me $60.00 for a copy of a diploma for a course I had yet to take the first class for. Submitted a request on their support page and have yet to hear back. Tried cancelling my course and membership and it took me through 8 pages asking "Are you sure?" before I reached the final cancellation page. To my surprise it was a prompt telling you to call their 1800 number to cancel.Finally spoke to a representative named Zante who told me she could cancel the membership but couldn't do anything about the $60.00 charge.

To sum it all up, the entire company is extremely misleading and sketchy. There's multiple post on google stating they are a scam and like to charge peoples credit cards on accident. The fact that they make you go through 8 pages just to cancel and then tell you "Call here to cancel" is extremely inconvenient to a customer. Not to mention, the 3 pop ups that are constantly on your page at all times for the one click purchase for stuff thats really not needed for a free course. To top it off, when you finally call their number, they have no IVR stating who you are even calling. Its straight to the hold music and they like to hang up and act like they cant hear you. Had to call 3 times in order to finally reach someone who tried and failed miserably to help me. For all people considering this company, stay as far away as possible!

Hopefully this complaint persuades them to give me a refund!

This company makes cancelation the most difficult thing.
I tried to cancel my subscription however at the end they gave a number to call which is not working. When I call the number all I hear is background music.

I have cancelled my free trial subscription in due time yet there is still a section showing a monthly-bill I'm 'subscribed' for
June 10: subscribed and gave card details to Shaw Academy for Graphic-Design course
-stated I had 4-weeks free and will not be charged if I cancelled my membership in a timely manner

June 11: Managed to join one class on this date and decided to cancel membership.
-I dropped out of the course and cancelled my membership.
-At this time, my membership status is "non-renewing'
-Received email 'Cancellation confirmation." from Shaw Academy
-Checked 'Manage Payments', to see I still have a billing subscription that will be cancelled on July 8th.
-I have not found any way to manually revoke my membership and/or delete my account permanently.

I do not consent to this billing and wish to prevent it before I am being charged.

The company must prove a satisfying confirmation on 1. I will NOT be charged; especially on July 8th onward. 2. To delete my account, all information and personal details given to the company.

I signed up 06/07/2020.

They were COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE.

The advertisement that I saw, and that drew my attention, was for Graphic Design.
I was actually MORE interested in the Adobe Illustrate course and Video Making.
I asked If I could join those classes also, or instead, on the chat, in e-mails, Looking for ANY way to contact them. No response.

Questions NOT answered "LIVE" online!

Part of their advertisement states that attending the classes ONLINE will get your questions answered live, immediately, interactively, directly. I attended the FIRST class, but there was only a bot, "Morpheus" that answered, and continually asked me to RATE the answers. Which was very distracting!

His responses to my questions were "Good Job" and "Great participation" and completely nonsensical phrases like that.
Finally another student (i guess) typed something in the chat, and his name was George. I typed "hello George"
To which "Morpheus" ran interference saying: "Well done" to me.
Eventually I managed to ask a question in such a way that Morpheus typed:
"I do not know the answer, would you like to ask that to the other students?"
...or something like that
When I responded "Yes" it typed out differently, which leads me to think all the other questions were never put to the class AT ALL! Neither did the lecturer respond.
Finally someone, who I think was another attendee, said that the classes are pre-recorded and there is no response from the Lecturers.

No class recordings to watch again as advertised!

Since I got no answers to my questions in class, I remembered that Shaw Academy advertised everywhere that you (students) can watch the recording of the class repeatedly as many times as you like. When I tried to do that, it turned out that you can only re-schedule the class not play the tape and stop and rewind if you need to.
Therefore the second time around it was too fast again, and again I could get no answer to my questions.

Unauthorized charges and Bank charges.

Then, suddenly, out of nowhere, I received text messages from my bank that my account was overdrawn and the bill pay that was set up for my car was denied and I was charged overdraw fees on top of all that! It turns out Shaw Academy went ahead and took 3x $39 from my account! Without authorization!

When I signed up, they required a card, saying, unless I cancel at the end of the FREE 4 weeks, they would automatically charge me a monthly fee. I entered the card details in good faith! Now they cost me all this extra, without giving me the FREE MONTH that was advertised!

Therefore On 3 accounts Shaw Academy has claimed ONE thing, but not delivered or delivered something ELSE!

I need affirmation from them to my bank that they should NOT have charged me so that I can get the over draw charges reversed and so I can go bank to the Car loan company to explain the reversed payment and re-do the payment . I need the 3x $39 to be refunded

Cancelation of the free trial period was a joke!
I signed for the 14-day free trial period and wanted to cancel on Day 3 as my availability has changed. The cancelation link is devious: small print under the big messages that kept asking me to continue. Some numerous screens with similar messages later, it directed me to a final screen that appears at the bottom of this complaint. I also attached a screen shot for your reference.

I called the phone number listed during the business hours. 3 times. And, there is only some string music with no greetings whatsoever. In fact, I am on yet another call on June 11 as I write this complaint. No one answers the phone.

I emailed their support email address requesting to cancel. Sure enough, nothing meaning except for some default messages that actually told me that I had purchase something and requested me to go ahead to activate the access.

17 minutes and 30 seconds later, someone finally answered the call. She was polite, patient apologizing for the confusion and long wait and emailed me the account cancelation after offering me free access and certification for the course which I declined.

Judging from the over 66 complaints filed with Revdex.com, I sincerely hope this company can improve their poor business practices if they truly want to stay in business.

I subscribed a free 4 weeks online course but I was immediately charged instead of being enrolled for free and cancelling the subscrip. is impossible
I just followed an ad on Instagram, for enrolling in free 4 weeks online course. It was clear in the ad and subscription process that I was going to be able to cancel my free subscription at any time, in an easy way, before the end of the free month and not being charged of 69,99 USD immediately, neither after cancelling the subscription by the end of the four weeks. What I've found though, after I enrolled, is that I was immediately charged through my paypal and credit card of 69,99USD, plus 1 dollar for I don't know what, and also, I've found that cancelling my subscription is impossible, since after a never ending flow of pages where I was asked 1000 times if I really wanted to cancel the service, I ended up on a page where this company asked me to call a number for cancelling my subscription, only way possible, and that number doesn't even have an automatic responder, just music, never ending music, no one answers, never.
So, I was immediately charged instead of having a course for free for four weeks, and I can't cancel the subscription.

Desired Outcome

I want an immediate refund and I want to be cancelled from the subscription.
