The response is good as I am now able to gain my money back.
Shaw Academy does not want to refund the money, which they deducted from my son's account with no authorization.
Dear All, my son *** signed up for a free trial with Shaw Academy. On the first day of his course, he received several pop up messages asking him to purchase additional services. As there were one click purchases, *** bought one by mistake. I immediately contacted Shaw Academy asking them to refund the money. They refused to do so. I explained to them that as per UK law, they have to respect 2 week cool off period during. They said they applied some vouchers to ***'s account to improve our satisfaction but I told them I want the money back not vouchers. After a month of free trial, we obviously decided to cancel the memberships. It was not possible to do so at all so Shaw Academy took my son's money again. In their cancellation policy, point 3 we can read that in order to make it happen we just have to click on Confirm Cancellation button, which simply does not exist. Instead, we were required to phone a number, which nobody monitors/picks up as we made several attempts to call it. So far, Shaw Academy has refused to refund.
I went online and I can see that Shaw Academy did the same trick to many customers.
Could you please kindly help? Thank you!
Desired Outcome
I want Shaw Academy to refund £39.95 for the model kit my son did not want to purchase at all and £49.99 for the membership, which was impossible to cancel.

I signed up for a free trial, I cancelled it same-day, yet I was still charged.
I purchased a free-trial on May 11th, I soon realized this was not a program I wanted to be a part of, so I promptly cancelled my account after going through the multiple loops and waiting on hold. I then talked to Nicole K who sent me an email which I have attached. She clearly stated my account would not be charged and it was completely free for two additional months. However on June 8th when the 4 weeks had expired my account was charged. I have now been communicating with Sid who blatantly has lied to me saying I never cancelled my account, when clearly my account had been cancelled with email proof from Nicole.
Desired Outcome
I want a refund for my 69.99 that was clearly an unauthorized transaction. I would also want to make sure I will not be charged in the future.

PayPal was able to refund me based off the written proof of cancellation, yet Shaw academy continues to claim I never cancelled my account when very clearly I have an email from them stating I did. I will never understand why they are unable to comprehend an email sent from their office saying it was cancelled but based off other people's reviews this seems like a common practice. I am grateful for Revdex.com and PayPal in assisting me in obtaining a refund for an unauthorized transaction. Thank you.
Tried to cancel but the process was made very convoluted and difficult
I am extremely disappointed in the unprofessional nature to which the cancellation service is conducted. Throughout the trial period I have tried multiple times to cancel the subscription only to be led down a blind alley of alternative options trying really hard to divert me from achieving my goal whether this online or over the phone. This has been constructed to be deliberately obtuse to trick the customer into staying or elapsing the trial date. Despite receiving repeated voicemails from a computer I never used the service or undertook any lessons therefore never received a service in return for this cost.
The company have made it confusing, convoluted and difficult to cancel the service and as a result I have now lost £50 for the dis-pleasure.
Desired Outcome
Since I have not used the service I wish to receive a refund as the way this has been conducted was dishonest

I accept the business response because they respectfully acknowledged an accepted fault for issues arising with cancellation of trial period
After having started a free 4 week trial, an unauthorised payment was taken from my Paypal account by Shaw Academy and I have been refused a refund.
I started a free four week trial with Shaw Academy for a digital marketing course. Upon starting the first course this Monday I was prompted to download my certificate for the course. I clicked on the link and received nothing. An hour later I checked my gmail and noticed a payment had been taken from my Paypal by Shaw Academy of £39.95.
I contacted Shaw Academy to dispute this amount. Their response was that the £39.95 was taken off my account, for the certificate I had purchased. However, I was never prompted that the certificate was chargeable, nor have I even received the certificate. Therefore I am essentially being charged for a service I haven't received for a service that was advertised as being included in a 4 week free trial. I believe this course was advertised under false pretences in order to obtain money from me.
I would like a refund from Shaw Academy.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund of the £39.95 they took from my account without my consent.

I sent an email to cancel this service a short time after missing the classes and This month I was charged $69.99. For a svc I never used.
I don't know exactly when I signed up for this program but on May 13th I sent an email to cancel the service. I never got a response back but then this month, I was charged for the service and they refuse to give me a refund. He keeps trying to to say they can't give me a refund but the can extend my service for like 120 days which is the equivalent of $199 or $399. I explained to him that I canceled shortly after I missed the first class because I got a job and wouldn't have time for it but Sid (that's his name) just keeps telling me that he can't give me a refund. I told him that if he did look at my account and see that I have not used the account and until I saw the charge that I wasn't even able to get into the account. I also asked if I could talk with a manager or for him to give me a phone number, so I could talk to a live person but he refused. Obviously emails aren't helping.
Desired Outcome
I just want a refund

Shaw Academy charged my paypal account for a toolbox kit I never authorized and will not refund/respond properly.
Shaw Academy charged my paypall account for a little over $39 for a toolbox kit I never authorized. I've also attempted to end my free trial before I am charged and the website instructed me to call a particular number (XXXXXXXXXXX) to "confirm cancellation". The phone never rung it just played jazz music in my ear for 20mins. I only waited because I thought someone would come. I've also sent numerous emails and included the receipt, card number and the amount paid as instructed on their website. Still nothing. They've responded only once to tell me they have no record of my email address but they consistently send emails to that address nearly every day. I'm so fed up.
Desired Outcome
A full refund and cancellation of my free trial BEFORE they try to charge me more money.

Not allowing me to cancel the 28-day free trial of training course or acknowledging my attempts to do so - or access the toolkit that I paid for.
I commenced a 28-day free trial of an online training course - with the option of cancelling anytime in the first 28 days before needing to pay for the course. However, to do so meant that I did need to purchase and download a toolkit.
(1) However, within an hour, before being able to download the toolkit I received a message that there had been a technical hitch in payment and I was blocked from even viewing the toolkit elements. They wanted me to pay again, but I had received confirmation from PayPal that they had received payment for the toolkit.
(2) This alarmed and concerned me and I decided to cancel my free trial and ask for a refund of my payment of the toolkit.
(3) It is extremely difficult to contact them or to get them to acknowledge my requests
(4) From the start of trying to cancel my free-trial the company placed and continues to place multiple hurdles to prevent me from doing this. I have followed all their directions, I have ignored and turned down at least a dozen of their ploys to circumvent my attempts to communicate and offer me supposed incentives to continue as it is in my interest to do so.
(5) After about a dozen online stages they create to delay my attempt to cancel, they eventually provided a high toll-rate telephone number for me to call - this I did but it was simply a recorded message system, and they prolonged / delayed this process by ensuring that I had to select multiple options will long messages at each stage to earn money on the call and try to prevent me from cancelling.
Eventually I got through to the last stage and selected the cancel / unsubscribe option. They recorded message said that I had cancelled my subscription membership but it could take up to an hour for this to be reflected on the website - 48 hours later they are still contacting me as though I am still signed up and encouraging me to login to my account. They have still not acknowledged that I have done so.
I am reluctant to do login to begin the process again as I fear they will take this as my intention to continue - they are proving to be that devious and manipulative.
(6) They are bombarding me with multiple promotions and reminders that it is mandatory for me to take part in the course - ALL AFTER I have notified them that I wish to cancel and require a refund on the toolkit that I have paid for and not able to access.
(7) They have not completely acknowledged the content and requests in any of my emails, What's app messages or phone call (number is automated) - and in fact just pay lip service to my attempts to have a meaningful conversation while ignoring my wishes to cancel and my complaint about not being able to access the toolkit.
I want reassurance that they acknowledge that I have cancelled my free-trial and do not ever wish to continue with any of their courses.
I do not want any credit (note) for use on a future courses or materials etc - as I intend never to do business with this company in the future.
I want them to confirm and promise not to charge me, as they have done others, because they are ignoring my communications, and I want them to refund the payment I made for the toolkit - or at the very least send me a hard copy so I never have to access their website again.
I feel they will escalate this and cause no end of problems for me, simply by ignoring me and being obtuse in their cleverly orchestrated responses. They are corrupt, unprofessional, unethical and need to change their practices and advertising.
Desired Outcome
I want them to comply with their own business promises regarding cancelling membership and subscriptions and not charge me any future fee.
I want reassurance that they acknowledge that I have cancelled my free-trial and any future subscription and will not be charged. I want them to confirm and promise not to charge me, as they have done others, especially as they are ignoring my communications.
I want them to refund the payment I made for the toolkit - or at the very least send me a hard copy so I never have to access their website again.
I want them to stop sending me unending promos and messages.
I do not want their offers of credit (note) for use on a future courses or materials etc - as I intend never to do business with this company in the future, they need to accept and acknowledge that I do not ever wish to be part of any of their courses of business.
I feel they will escalate this whole procedure and not comply with their own promises.
I see them causing no end of problems for me as they have apparently done for others, simply by ignoring me and being obtuse in their cleverly orchestrated responses.

Shaw Academy charged a fee without my consent, and disregarding their own policy
I signed up for their 30 day trial on April 4th. On May 2nd I sent them an email to cancel the membership. Their customer service kept sayong I should stay and refocus on my goals. I asked to be refunded as it was not my will to go for their programs and classes.
They said their policy mentions I would get charged but when I read the articles they refer to, it says I can ask to cancel at anytime during the free 30 day trial and not be charged.
I got charged for the amount of $69.99, and they did not want to issue refunds "per their policy".
Since I couldn't get them to refund me after charging my account, I asked my bank to block the transaction. The bank's investigation say that they think the company was right to charge this amount, because the company provided some documents.
I don't know what type of documents they could have provided since I canceled in time per their policies.
A lot of these Revdex.com complaints are relatable.
Desired Outcome
I would like to be refunded

A unauthorised payment was taken from my account at the end of the free trial and Shaw academy are refusing to issue a full refund.
I took part in the free trial offered by Shaw academy. At the end of the free trial a payment was taken from my account which I have not authorised.
I had asked to cancel the membership via email previously. Shaw academy also advised they send a reminder before any payments would be taken.
None of the above was done.
Since the payment was taken from my account on the 19th May I have sent multiple emails. (over 10) with either no reply or a standard response quoting terms and conditions.
I have received a refund of 1.61 from them on the 29th May, however the full amount taken was 49.99.
I am still receiving email from them to rebook onto missed classes to complete my diploma, which I have asked to cancel on multiple occasions.
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund of the 49.99 euros as I am unable to do this course at this time and was also trialling (as sold by shaw academy).

This company is basically snaking people into keeping their membership longer because they make it nearly impossible to cancel. The cancellation line took me straight to elevator music. Not even a welcome message. It seems like a joke. An infuriating joke.

Shaw Academy engages in questionable business practices, denying me a refund and continuing to bill me even after having cancelled my membership.
I had signed up for a free trial period at Shaw Academy that had been promoted by Tmobile. After signing up, I had selected a course, but I do not think I even made it to one class and quickly forgot about it. Unlike other businesses offering trial use periods, I did not received any correspondence regarding an impending end to said trial period. Needless to say, the trial period lapsed and Shaw Academy started charging my card. I didn't see the charge in April 2020, but I saw the charge in May 2020. I reached out to the company, requesting a refund.
After several back and forth emails (attached below), the representative that I had been dealing with said that he was unable to offer a refund as it is against their policy. However, he had, "confirmed that my membership is cancelled thus ensuring no further payments will be taken." This was not what I wanted to hear, yet I understood it to be a learning experience going forward. I considered the matter closed.
So, imagine my surprise when my wife drew my attention to yet another charge on my account from Shaw Academy on June 8th. I sent them a message (their phone number listed in Delaware does not work) again stating my displeasure. To continue to charge me after the membership had been cancelled and after having assured me there wouldn't be any more charges is reprehensible. It is either a sign of gross incompetence or, worse yet, malicious and predatory business practices.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund of, at the very least, the amount that had been taken out of my account on June 8, 2020 ($59.99). I would be most pleased, and sure to look past this entire thing, if they refunded all three payments that had been taken - April, May, June ($177).

I clicked a link which automatically purchased a product from their page. When I asked, they refused to provide a refund for me.
On June 8, 2020, I clicked a link on the Shaw Academy website to gain more information regarding one of their certifications, not realizing the fine print stated it was a one-click purchase. The cost was $39.95 and was charged through my PayPal account, as (Invoice ID: XXXXXXXX). Shaw Academy has not provided me an order number.
Having looked at their Terms and Conditions (found here: https://www.shawacademy.com/terms/), they state in section 5.8: "If a student purchases an E-cert or toolkit from the members area, by checkout page or single click purchase, refunds cannot be provided without just cause, as defined by incorrect content or pricing."
Because its states "incorrect content", I messaged them I misordered the item, to which they responded via email on June 9, 2020 that they could not refund me, citing their Terms as the reason why. This is obscure.
My support ticket number is #XXXXXXX. My sales representative is Anna.

Attempts to cancel within 2 hours of registering for "free trial" required 12 click-throughs to confirm and a mandatory call. I'm still on hold 13.
A 4-week free trial enticed me to register for courses. Upon completing registration, all pages required additional purchase of instruction tools necessary to the courses offered. I immediately attempted to cancel my subscription and was taken through 12 click-through screens attempting to redirect the cancellation request before reaching a final screen that requires a mandatory phone call before a subscription can be cancelled. When I called the number generated for my region, I was immediately put on hold (no announcement to identify the business I'm calling, just music) for 14+ minutes. I cancelled my PayPal account to avoid any future billing from this company.
Desired Outcome
No resolution needed, other than appropriate or warranted investigation into these practices. Precautions were taken on my end to ensure that I will not be billed by this company, which is unfortunate.

This company is supposedly in the UK, but billing from DE. I'm unable to cancel my account. Phone and email unresponsive. Monthly charges continuous.
I've tried for months to cancel my account with this company. Online prompts are excessive and it directs you to call a phone number in NJ that no one answers. I've sent multiple emails with no reply, and called numerous times. Premiums went from 39 to 59 to 79 a month with no notice and I'm unable to close my account or cancel membership. I'm trying to cancel subscription but their phone number is a loop of music. Website says I must call to cancel.
I signed up for a free trial of a Project MGMT course with Shaw Academy but it turns out that you cannot complete the course within the 30-days so ultimately you have to pay to finish the course. This is a sneaky trick. I went to their website and followed instructions to cancel (there are many links before cancelling which makes it confusing) and then it requires you to call XXX-XXX-XXXX if you're in the USA. I"ve called numerous times but it's just music playing on a loop. I emailed their support email ***@shawacademy.com. No response. I'll have to cancel my CC number.
Thank you!
I want Shaw Academy to refund £39.95 for the model kit my son did not want to purchase at all and £49.99 for the membership, which was impossible to cancel.
Hi ***,
I confirm your membership is cancelled and the refund will be reaching your account in 4-5 business days.
Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.

I want a refund for my 69.99 that was clearly an unauthorized transaction. I would also want to make sure I will not be charged in the future.
Hi ***,
Having checked our records, we see you have registered for a free trial on 11-May-2020 and you got charged on 08-Jun-2020 as you have not cancelled it.
I have now cancelled your membership and the refund has already been credited to your PayPal account on Jun 10, 2020.

I would like a full refund of the 49.99 euros as I am unable to do this course at this time and was also trialling (as sold by shaw academy).

They make it nearly impossible to cancel your membership. They make it mandatory to call in, but no one actually answers the number.
This company is basically snaking people into keeping their membership longer because they make it nearly impossible to cancel. The cancellation line took me straight to elevator music. Not even a welcome message. It seems like a joke. An infuriating joke.
If I am not able to cancel before they charge my card again, I would like a refund and I would like for this complaint to be made public in order to warn others of their devious practices.

I am seeking a refund of $39.95 for the purchase.

No resolution needed, other than appropriate or warranted investigation into these practices. Precautions were taken on my end to ensure that I will not be billed by this company, which is unfortunate.

Was billed for services I did not order.
I feel like I was scammed. I got a message that I was billed 69.99 for a class I never ordered. I was under the impression it was free because of the COVID-19. I would have never ordered this because I am out of work due to the virus. I think this company took advantage of me.
I would like a refund of the money they stole out of my bank account.

I was charged $39.95 for a Certificate that I did not purchase. I then immediately contacted Shaw Academy and they refused to refund my "purchase".
I clicked on Start Now for the final assignment of Module 1 and it immediately charged me $39.95. I clearly never agreed to pay them any money. I spoke with them many times and they never agreed to give me a refund at all.
I want to receive a full $39.95 refund.

I got the refund from Shaw Academy and thank you Revdex.com for your help.
Only option is to cancel the credit card
I request my account be closed and a refund of six months of premium fees.
Hi ***,
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and we have initiated a refund which will be credited back to the source in next 3- 5 business days. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

This is disheartening and they are tricking people.
