Shaw Academy processed unauthorized charge and will not refund my money
I enrolled for their free trial period and had a reminder set in my calendar to cancel the subscription before the free trial ended. I did not use their services and did not enroll in any of the courses. I tired to cancel my subscription 3 times in their app and it would not process the cancellation. I then sent an email to cancel and had no response. After my free trial period I was charged $69.99 on my credit card (which you had to enter to set up the free trial) they said that "Once the Toolkit is activated in your account it is made available to you and we have transferred the content to you hence it cannot be disabled as it was provided therefore, we cannot refund." I find this hard to believe as clearly they can see I did not access any courses on their website! The email response back then proceeds to try to up sell me on more stuff! Seriously. I just want my money back for a service that I did not use...and a free trial that was clearly NOT a free trial, what a scam!

I am looking for a full refund of $69.99 (Canadian) and I think their "free trial" needs to be re-looked at.

I was charged $69.99 for a free trial that was canceled.
My name is ***. In the middle of March, I created an account and tried the "free trial." Prior to my trial ending, I contacted Shaw Academy and said that I no longer want this membership, thus cancelling my account/membership.
I recently checked my debit card and saw payments made to Shaw Academy in the amount of $69.99. I have tried to contact Shaw but only contact information is an email which replied back to me saying they don't have an account for me. I am confused with how I am being charged when I cancelled my membership over two months ago. My query number cancelling my membership in MARCH was *** (see attached file). The query number contacting Shaw about the charge was XXXXXXX - which they say they have no record of.
According to all the other complaints Shaw Academy seems to do this on a regular basis to college students trying to better themselves.

I cancelled my subscription in April and was charged for May and June. They refuse to reimburse me despite my cancellation.
I signed up for a free trial for 4 weeks, after which the cost was $69.99 per month. After the 4 week trial period, I did not cancel the subscription in time and was subsequently charged $69.99 CDN for the next month - April. Once I noticed the charge on my April bank statement, I immediately cancelled the subscription with plenty of time for it to be processes. When cancelling, Shaw Academy requires you to telephone in to cancel and go through a ridiculous amount of tele-prompts to be able to finally cancel. In the end I know I cancelled the subscription properly. I was then charged $69.99 CDN in May and again in June. I notified Shaw of the error and am being told they refuse to reimburse me but did confirm that my subscription is cancelled. I'm not impressed. I did not use any services in April, May or June and think at the very least I'm entitled to May and June's payment that was process in error.

To be reimbursed for May and June's payment $69.99 X 2 = $139.98 CDN as it was charged to my card in error as the subscription was cancelled in April.

The offer me trial period and I did not like their course, I decided to cancel it within trial period. I approached to for cancellation and I tried alot to cancel it but they made cancellation procedure so difficult for users. I was charged $69.99 last night (6/2/2020) and email the company requesting a refund. They claimed that I did not, in fact, shut my account off and due to their statement I will not receive a refund.

I have been charged twice for £49.99 after cancelling and been told that my subcription has been cancelled.
I originally signed up for the free trial on 5 April 2020 and was charged £49.99 on the 3rd May 2020. I immediately tried to contact the Shaw Academy via phone and their telephone number is not in service. Following this I contacted Shaw via email and they replied on 4th March that -
" If you still feel to cancel, you will need to go into your member area Here(https://live.shawacademy.com/login) and select 'My Profile' and then 'Memberships & Payments' option and follow the process."
I did this and have checked my profile and my subscription state non renewal.
Today 3rd June 2020 another £49.99 has been taken from my account and there is no way I can contact Shaw Academy which is ridiculous. They are now stealing money. I will attach the emails to the document below.

I was wrongfully charged for subscription even after cancelling my subscription before my trial period ended.
I had activated my trial account with Shaw Academy on 14th April 2020. The trial period was for 28 days and it was supposed to end on 12th May. I did not intend to pay for the membership and hence I cancelled my subscription on 10th May. But, unfortunately, I was debited $69.99 on 12th May even after cancelling my subscription on 10th May.
Furthermore, after checking online about this company, I found that I was not the only person who has been victim of this type of deceit by this company. There were many cases where amount has been debited from people's account unlawfully without their knowledge. Some of the proof of these cases can be found in the following websites. Thank you for your response. I spoke to my Bank and they have informed me that they have resolved this open dispute.

This company says you can cancel anytime durinf trial period, but it is a lie! They have restricted days and time you can cancel.
I tried to cancel my free trial and found out I could not. The note said I could only cancel Mondays-Fridays 9am - 5pm and had to call a number! So if your trial period ends on a Monday, it means if you do not cancel the previous Friday before 5pm, you WILL be charged! This is unethical and dishonest.
You will also find out that the phone line for cancellation is not manned. It is an automated line that bashes you on and on to prevent you from cancelling!
Why is an automated line restricted in it's operational times? Why tell people they can cancel any time when they actually cant?
This is wrong. So wrong! And I will keep complaining and writing honest reviews on how bad this company is ethically until I get my money back and they change their deceitful system.

I had emailed them several times about a module tool kit I did not purchase. I emailed them 3 times about it and got not response. I'd like a refund.
I tried to enter a "contest" for a free monthly subscription and was charged for a module tool kit. I tried to contact them several times about the mistake and try to use that money towards something else, but they never got back to me. They "claimed" that I did not cancel in time - so they payment was processed and that there is nothing they can do other than provide me with more material for my money (not to mention they tried up selling me multiple times during this process).

They Have Deducted money on my account without my concern involving one email address I really don't know whose the owner.
I was checking my bank statement and I saw the company has deducted some money on my banks without my concern and the email involved on that I have no idea whose the owner when I tried to get in touch on that and how the user was able to deduct using my card I was told they'll help me by giving me more months on the sites as free subscription which I personal don't feel like joining and spending my time knowing on their courses, and when I use my original email I realized that again another money was deducted double the initial on the foreign subscription. When I emailed them they said no refund they'll give me more benefits.

They gave me the refund but it was partially, as per mentioned the were two subscription on my account one I know and the other of an email that I couldn't identify although it seems almost similar to my personal email account, they have deducted through it and I asked they terminate any subscription associated withy card they agreed but they didn't on the 8th of this month another deduction was made, while they claim they did unsubscribe me. They paid the refund on the actual email but I couldn't get the refund which was due to the other email which I don't know whose the owner. Thus waiting for their refund on that account. "***@gmail.com" is the actual account name of the unknown email.

Very dishonest business. They make it incredibly hard to cancel "Free" trial. After, clicking 5 times and repeatedly confirming if I really want to cancel, I was given a phone number to call.
I called the number and once again had to confirm 5 times, after lengthy sales pitch, that I indeed wanted to cancel. I never received a confirmation notice and had to cancel my paypal in order to ensure that Shaw Academy doesn't take any more unauthorized payments. Very unfortunate experience.

Being unable to cancel before the end of a free trial and being billed
Hi,
I signed up for a 4 week free trial which expires today. I have gone to cancel the membership and followed everything online but have been directed to a phone number as the only way to cancel. The phone lines are closed.
There was no mention of having to call a phone number to cancel when I initially took up the trial option. It is not very customer friendly to be able to join online but not be able to cancel online. I have now been billed for £49.99 for a further month's membership now which I shall be contesting with paypal if this is not refunded within 48 hours. I had until the end of today to cancel which I want to do, and today isn't over but you're not allowing me to do this.

I cancelled my membership before the allotted trial time, TWICE! They still charged my account! They scam you and don't respond back.
I cancelled my membership on April 15th 2020. On May 4th 2020 I called with the confirmation number to cancel. (I have supporting documentation printed as well as making the call through my phone provided details.) I was still charged $34.99 (CAD) for the service on June 1st 2020. Which put us in an extremely difficult position in paying rent. My contact through them is ***@gmail.com. I would appreciate being refunded. I went to try out their course to try and better the livelihood of my family and children but found the content to not be beneficial. Then my money was withdrawn after their claims of the course being free, then being charged afterwards? My husband will be filing a separate claim as this happened with the same Shaw in our joint account as well. My account was charged through PayPal (same associated email as above) and my joint account through CIBC via our visa debit. (I can again provide proof via screenshots and bank statements as needed.) I was only able to submit one image, I don't know how to upload the rest of the images. I've contacted them repeatedly via email, through PayPal, by phone, only to be ignored.

My free trial began beginning of May 2020. Even when it started, I went to the account settings to make sure that my membership would cancel instead of renew. I was charged $69.99 last night (6/2/2020) and email the company requesting a refund. They claimed that I did not, in fact, shut my account off and due to their statement I will not receive a refund.
I just want my $69.99 refunded. I've never watch a single video or used their site for anything. I signed up for a free trial and never had time to use it.

I have been charged twice for £49.99 after cancelling and been told that my subcription has been cancelled.
I originally signed up for the free trial on 5 April 2020 and was charged £49.99 on the 3rd May 2020. I immediately tried to contact the Shaw Academy via phone and their telephone number is not in service. Following this I contacted Shaw via email and they replied on 4th March that -
" If you still feel to cancel, you will need to go into your member area Here(https://live.shawacademy.com/login) and select 'My Profile' and then 'Memberships & Payments' option and follow the process."
I did this and have checked my profile and my subscription state non renewal.
Today 3rd June 2020 another £49.99 has been taken from my account and there is no way I can contact Shaw Academy which is ridiculous. They are now stealing money. I will attach the emails to the document below.
I want the the Shaw Academy to refund my payment of £49.99 and apologies for taking my money. Additionally I want them to confirm that they have cancelled my account and will approach me again.

I was wrongfully charged for subscription even after cancelling my subscription before my trial period ended.
I had activated my trial account with Shaw Academy on 14th April 2020. The trial period was for 28 days and it was supposed to end on 12th May. I did not intend to pay for the membership and hence I cancelled my subscription on 10th May. But, unfortunately, I was debited $69.99 on 12th May even after cancelling my subscription on 10th May.
Furthermore, after checking online about this company, I found that I was not the only person who has been victim of this type of deceit by this company. This company says you can cancel anytime durinf trial period, but it is a lie! They have restricted days and time you can cancel.
I tried to cancel my free trial and found out I could not. The note said I could only cancel Mondays-Fridays 9am - 5pm and had to call a number! So if your trial period ends on a Monday, it means if you do not cancel the previous Friday before 5pm, you WILL be charged! This is unethical and dishonest.
You will also find out that the phone line for cancellation is not manned. It is an automated line that bashes you on and on to prevent you from cancelling!
Why is an automated line restricted in it's operational times? Why tell people they can cancel any time when they actually cant?
This is wrong. So wrong! And I will keep complaining and writing honest reviews on how bad this company is ethically until I get my money back and they change their deceitful system.

So about three months ago I signed up for Sean academy on this app as a free trial they charged me 30 bucks I tried to cancel it they would not cancel they gave me the runaround then they offered me free 6 months I said I would still like to cancel and they would not cancel and they still ended up charging me I tried to cancel it again and I can't even get a hold of nobody no more I have complained on their website and on Facebook and multiple other interfaces internet trying to resolve this and I don't know how I think they are some of the biggest scammers out here

I had emailed them several times about a module tool kit I did not purchase. I emailed them 3 times about it and got not response. I'd like a refund.
I tried to enter a "contest" for a free monthly subscription and was charged for a module tool kit. I tried to contact them several times about the mistake and try to use that money towards something else, but they never got back to me. Third week into the free 4 week trial, I received a call from Shaw Academy asking me how I was with the overview of the program. I notified them that I am no longer interested in the free 4 week trial anymore and was told that it is okay and that the rep I was talking to will cancel the course I was enrolled in. Contacted Shaw Academy and they notified me that I did not cancel my membership. So, I proceeded to cancel to cancel the member and asked for a refund. They "claimed" that I did not cancel in time - so they payment was processed and that there is nothing they can do other than provide me with more material for my money (not to mention they tried up selling me multiple times during this process).

They Have Deducted money on my account without my concern involving one email address I really don't know whose the owner.
I was checking my bank statement and I saw the company has deducted some money on my banks without my concern and the email involved on that I have no idea whose the owner when I tried to get in touch on that and how the user was able to deduct using my card I was told they'll help me by giving me more months on the sites as free subscription which I personal don't feel like joining and spending my time knowing on their courses, and when I use my original email I realized that again another money was deducted double the initial on the foreign subscription. When I emailed them they said no refund they'll give me more benefits.
Refund is the only way I see fit on my case as I personal need the money for certain essentials.

They gave me the refund but it was partially, as per mentioned the were two subscription on my account one I know and the other of an email that I couldn't identify although it seems almost similar to my personal email account, they have deducted through it and I asked they terminate any subscription associated withy card they agreed but they didn't on the 8th of this month another deduction was made, while they claim they did unsubscribe me. They paid the refund on the actual email but I couldn't get the refund which was due to the other email which I don't know whose the owner. Thus waiting for their refund on that account. Very dishonest business. They make it incredibly hard to cancel "Free" trial. After, clicking 5 times and repeatedly confirming if I really want to cancel, I was given a phone number to call.
I called the number and once again had to confirm 5 times, after lengthy sales pitch, that I indeed wanted to cancel. I never received a confirmation notice and had to cancel my paypal in order to ensure that Shaw Academy doesn't take any more unauthorized payments. Very unfortunate experience.

Being unable to cancel before the end of a free trial and being billed
Hi,
I signed up for a 4 week free trial which expires today. I have gone to cancel the membership and followed everything online but have been directed to a phone number as the only way to cancel. The phone lines are closed.
There was no mention of having to call a phone number to cancel when I initially took up the trial option. It is not very customer friendly to be able to join online but not be able to cancel online. I have now been billed for £49.99 for a further month's membership now which I shall be contesting with paypal if this is not refunded within 48 hours. I had until the end of today to cancel which I want to do, and today isn't over but you're not allowing me to do this.

I cancelled my membership before the allotted trial time, TWICE! They still charged my account! They scam you and don't respond back.
I cancelled my membership on April 15th 2020. On May 4th 2020 I called with the confirmation number to cancel. (I have supporting documentation printed as well as making the call through my phone provided details.) I was still charged $34.99 (CAD) for the service on June 1st 2020. Which put us in an extremely difficult position in paying rent. My contact through them is ***@gmail.com. I would appreciate being refunded. I went to try out their course to try and better the livelihood of my family and children but found the content to not be beneficial. Then my money was withdrawn after their claims of the course being free, then being charged afterwards? My husband will be filing a separate claim as this happened with the same Shaw in our joint account as well. My account was charged through PayPal (same associated email as above) and my joint account through CIBC via our visa debit. (I can again provide proof via screenshots and bank statements as needed.) I was only able to submit one image, I don't know how to upload the rest of the images. I've contacted them repeatedly via email, through PayPal, by phone, only to be ignored.
