In order to cancel my account, I must call a phone number with my student reference number during the week from 11am-8pm Eastern Time.
I signed up for Shaw Academy after seeing an ad on Instagram detailing their course on financial investments and securities. There is a free trial that lasts 4 weeks. I entered my debit card information and registered with an account. Viola, I had access to the courses. However, I was not aware of the nature of the courses. The fact that they are not self-paced displeased me, and I wished to cancel my account effective immediately.
I navigated the seemingly endless labyrinth of "yes, I would like to cancel my account" buttons until I reached a screen informing me that I would have to call a number with a reference number to cancel during their available hours. This is outrageous. Any credible online service should allow it's users to cancel at any time, through the service itself. Otherwise, why use an online service?!
Fear played a big role in my arrival to this website. Immediately after discovering the shady method of membership cancellation, and the plethora of dissatisfied customers who had trouble closing their accounts permanently, I decided to cut through the nonsense and come here.
NO ONLINE SERVICE SHOULD REQUIRE A PHONE CALL TO CANCEL MEMBERSHIP.
I'm afraid if I don't make a larger statement, my account will not be permanently terminated, and I will be charged in the future randomly. I cannot afford this, and need my account cancelled. I should not have to make a complaint in order to address my account cancellation. Thank you.
Desired Outcome
I would like to close my account permanently within the next few days.

They closed the account quickly with no issues.
Shaw Academy processed an unauthorized charge on my credit card and refused to refund the money although I never agreed to purchase their services.
I initially registered for the free digital marketing trial on 4/5/20 with the first class starting on 4/11/20 and the second class of the week on 4/12/20. On the morning of the last day of class on 5/3/20, I checked my account and it said that I had 1 day left before my trial ended, which meant 1 day left to cancel. (If there are "4-weeks of classes and my first class started on 4/12/20, then isn't 4 weeks 5/8/20 since no services are available to me prior to my first class?) I decided to attend my last class and cancel the trial after class, however, Shaw Academy immediately processed an unauthorized charge of $69.99 at the end of class on my credit card via PayPal and refused to refund the money although I never agreed to purchase their full services. Moreover, I wasn't given notice that I would be charged ahead of time via email or agree for Shaw to process a charge on a completely different credit card from the one I initially signed up with on my PayPal account. I immediately followed up via email and opened a ticket, to which I received multiple cookie cutter responses refusing to refund my money. They are scamming people during unprecedented times like these by claiming to offer free classes, taking advantage of the layoffs, and then charging them once the class ends with no buffer for students to cancel their trial. It isn't a 4-week trial if I have to cancel before my last class in order to not get charged, but it seems like even if you do manage to cancel beforehand, their system still charges you, as per the remarks of others. Their system is a joke. Aside from being told that I had 1 day left on my trial, I have also submitted a cancellation request and was told to call their office to complete the cancellation during their M-F business hours. I have not taken any further steps to use their material, yet they still refuse to process my refund. Their advertising is misleading vulnerable people who are experiencing such hardship with COVID-19. They should be ashamed of themselves. Buyer beware.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a refund back to my PayPal account for the amount of $69.99.

Clicked on a link within my first lesson to look at certificate requirements and was charged 39.95. Use of clickbait to charge people = unethical.
joined a free trial for yourselves and was just about to sit my first lesson on 31st May 2020 for a diploma in excel when I noticed a link on the bottom of the page for an e-certificate. I thought I'd have a look at it whilst I was waiting for course to start and what your e-certificate requirements were. Instead of providing details for a certificate of a course I haven't even sat yet, you instantly charged me for this certificate. I think your link was terribly misleading - intentionally so - and obviously a sign of the sort of company you are. I have now cancelled my 'free' trial (cancellation code XXXXX) and have no access to this course or 'certificate' and want a refund. I am amazed you think such practices are acceptable and after hearing good things about you, I'm going to be instead informing people that you are clearly an unethical company - especially in times of COVID19 - who just wants to make a fast buck out of people.
Payment was via paypal. Transaction XXXXXXXXXXXXX for 39.95 GBP.
Desired Outcome
I want to have a full refund. I've not sat a single lesson on your 'free trail' and have now cancelled this. I haven't accessed the certificate and have no digital copy of this - which I am sure you'll be able to check through your online system. This is not how any learning platform should do business so please also learn from this.

My refund was issued by Paypal rather than the Shaw Academy after I highlighted the Academy's system of coercive payments to Paypal. The confirmation I received from Shaw Academy that my account had been closed required more than 5 emails to obtain with their replies instead of responding to my request attempting to upsell to me. This company's practices have been highlighted with Fraud Action and the Advertising Standards Agency. I am satisfied now that my account has been closed but unsatisfied that I will not be the last customer they treat this way and so have highlighted their poor practice with further governing bodies.
Unauthorized withdrawl from my account without notice.
This company said I had signed up for a free trial, and yet when I tried to contact the company they couldnt find my information in their system. They billed me 34.99 for the first payment yet I never got an email saying I was signed up for anything. Never recieved any notice that a free trial was ending. Nothing. After a few email responses regarding a refund they refused and offered me a few months free. This seems like a common practice from complaints here. I demanded a refund from the company because this is irresponsible as a business practice.
Desired Outcome
I am seeking a full refund of 34.99.

Refund of my fees charged from credit card without my approval.
I had subscribed for a Trial membership and paused it. I was told that I will be getting a notification when I will have to restart my membership. But today, my card was charged with a monthly premium subscription fee of $69.99. The amount deduction without my approval and notification. This amounts to a theft on my credit card.
Request you to please refund my amount of $69.99.

I am not able to Cancel my subscription in my trial period ending 10june2020 otherwise I would be charged. That's very unethical and Unprofessional
Hi,
I tried to cancel my subscription in my trial period which is still On, but there I am not able to cancel it. Shaw academy told me to call on the number to cancel, I called 2 times , given email 3-4 times on their each email I'd provided on their website..but They just not responding. I am afraid they are going to charge me after my trial period which is unethical as they don't let customers to cancel the subscription and they have my payment details..! My trial ends on 10 june2020 so 10 days left from now.
I have seen reviews, Shaw academy does this kind of fraud with the customers who want to cancel subscription.
Desired Outcome
I just want to cancel my subscription, I have 10 days left now, I am still in trial period. I don't want them to deduct any money from my credit card as I have not completed free course and trying to cancel my subscription in Trial period.

I signed up for shaw academy under their"free trial period" and during that period I attempted to cancel. Which seems to be impossible.
After I attempted to cancel,( May30th) to which there is a 5 page layout that keeps asking "are you sure that you want to cancel?" You are then led to a page that says if you want to cancel call this number (Their office number I assume) to which I called and the office is closed and I was hung up on. I didn't need to call them to sign up but I need to call them to cancel? This is shady. I also attempted to remove my payment method, which leads you to a page that continuously loads and never allows you to remove that information. So I seems I have been strong armed into something that I was completely uninformed of (again shady). I never received an email that my membership trail was over or that it was up for renewal, I also never received an invoice stating that I paid for a membership (something that I didn't want and seemed to be force into participating in). Its very shady that they can remove a payment from my account (which I didn't authorize) to the sum of $69.99(again I never received and invoice for) over the weekend but I can't cancel over the weekend, I have to wait until Monday...
This is ridiculous, I would like a complete refund and have nothing to do with this company ever again.
I simply cannot afford to have "Shaw academy" to help themselves to money in my account because the refuse to comply with proper business practices. This whole app is a circle of prevention of getting a refund and making sure they steal and keep your money. I as a customer should be allowed to make the choice as whether I want to pay and continue a service or not continue and be able to easily cancel. None of which was provided to me.
I honestly would like a full refund and be done with this "business" for good!
Desired Outcome
I would just like a refund and fully cancel my membership, which no attempt of future unauthorized payment removals.

I was charged after I cancelled and was told that I would never be charged again.
I cancelled my account through email and over the phone. I was told that it would be cancelled and would never be charged again. This was after they kept trying to offer me promotions that I did not want. A few days later as I'm eating breakfast, a charge comes through on an instant notification from PayPal for a $39.95 charge that I did not make. I immediately picked up the phone and called. I also emailed immediately. The lady told me on the phone that since I cancelled that I would be refunded but the billing department had to refund me as she did not have authorization. She also would not transfer me to the billing department. A few days later, I receive an email saying that I can not be refunded as I was charged for a toolkit that I clicked. I emailed back saying I did not click on a button and that I did not authorize this charge. Again, Shaw Academy emailed me back saying they still could not help refund me as the purchase is final. A purchase that is final for something I never made in the first place. I cancelled because I did not want to be charged. They can delete my account and process me a refund. It was my intentions not to use them right now because of my financial situation. Now I will never use them again if they continue to treat their customers this way.
Desired Outcome
I would like a refund for something I did not purchase. I called and cancelled. I was told no further charges. You have to honor what you say or this is a fraudulent company.

I ACCEPT the refund. But haven't got it back yet. When Istarted to get charged I changed my Credit card information for a fake one so no other payment could be processed wihtout my consent.
I'm pretty sure that if the company is serious has the data from the original transactions and they refunded the money there, not to the not working Credit card.
But since a it's been 6 days and I haven;t recieved the refund this, could ywe check with the company if they did the refund with the same card data as they charged it? or they used the data on file (that was wrong and makes the card non existing).
Thanks

Charged me £50 saying I have an account with them even through it was closed near 2 months ago
I had a free trial 2 months ago, and cancelled and closed the account before the end of trial. This was done over the phone as they did not allow cancellations over the site or email. They've now charged me £50 and will not refund me, saying I reopened the account for a 'e-certificate' and 'toolkit'. I have told them again to close the account and refund me the money they have taken without my authorisation. They did not do this, and instead signed me up to a $399 course, with a '6 months free' incentive, again without my permission. I'm horrified and upset at their actions, doing what they please with my information and money and refusing to do as I say. In the current covid-19 crisis, I need the money they have taken without permission to put food on my table, I don't know what Im going to do
Desired Outcome
I'm seeking and full refund of the money taken, as well as an apology and for them to follow what I've asked by deleting my account and removing my data from their system

I am deeply concerned about registering with Shaw Academy. Before making the purchase I was contacted by a consultant who advised that I need not pay any additional amount for toolkits and certificates and this was not the case. I have sent numerous emails to her, Jonathan L and support and the query remains unresolved. I am deeply disappointed and need someone to contact me urgently. I have paid R 399 extra just to access the module 2 toolkit.

Shaw Academy refuse to acknowledge that my account was cancelled. Charging me £49.99 without my consent
Over one month ago I signed up for a the 4 week trial of Shaw Academy - I cancelled my subscription 2 days later to ensure I was not charged the fee of £49.99 at the end of my trial. They make cancelling the account very hard - you have to call a number and wait a long time to get through - I did speak to someone who confirmed my account had been cancelled. I then unsubscribed from their emails and thought no more about it. I never heard from them again until my account was charged £49.99. I reached out the them to explain I had been wrongly charged, they then claimed I had clicked on an email that automatically signed me back up their services - I never did this and I have since read online that they carry out this scam on hundreds of people a year. They are now claiming I can't have my money back because I clicked on to sign up again. I never had any email notification to let me know I had signed up to be charged, nothing to say my trial was ended, no contact to suggest I use the services I had apparently signed up for - it is complete scam and they have taken my money without my consent. I have reported them to my bank and will be filing a fraud complaint with the police.
Desired Outcome
I would like my money back in full and to be charged no further.

I signed up to a service a month ago and they said they send a warning 3 days before the account is due to refresh. I tried out this service for a couple of days and it wasn't what is advertised. I did not know they had signed me up to a premium service. I came down with covid and they DID not follow their t&c's by sending a reminder about the account for my parents to cancel whilst I was in hopsital. They are refusing to refund the money but can offer me $600+ of free access over the year. Which I do not want and have expressed on several occasions that this service IS NOT what it advertises.

Card continues to be charged although they say nothing is being charged to my account, after 3 times of telling me it was because I didn't cancel on time and so they couldn't refund me but that my account was cancelled moving forward. but then it happened again, and again they said the membership wasn't cancelled and they could so anything, but there was confirmation on email. after I told them that then they tell me well your account shows no charges since November .... well the charges with the company name are on my account, so they're taking it from an account whatever that is.

Charged after cancellation of free trial
On April 24th I enrolled in a Graphic Design course with Shaw Academy. They offered a free month trial which was enticing. Soon after, I was being bombarded with emails, calls, texts and messages on Whatsapp from Shaw Academy. This bothered me enough to not even begin the course. On May 14th, I called in to cancel my subscription as I had gotten two phone calls that week, one at 1am EST and one around 4am EST. I spoke to Ruqayah who had confirmed cancellation over the phone and by email. On May 22nd, I noticed a charge on my credit card for Shaw Academy for $69.99CAD. I called back and spoke to JP, who then suggested I send an email to ***@shawacademy.com which I did. Luke from billing sent me an email saying I had not cancelled in time?! (I had 8 days left to my free trial) In the terms and conditions it specified that if we were to cancel before the free trial ended, no charges would be made.

I want to have a full refund. I've not sat a single lesson on your 'free trail' and have now cancelled this. I haven't accessed the certificate and have no digital copy of this - which I am sure you'll be able to check through your online system. This is not how any learning platform should do business so please also learn from this.
Hi ***,
We are sorry that you had to go through this entire ordeal. Please be assured that your account has been deactivated and charges have been refunded. Please let us know if there is anything else you need assistance with.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am seeking a full refund of 34.99.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Refund.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.
Thank you
I am not able to Cancel my subscription in my trial period ending 10june2020 otherwise I would be charged.
I just want to cancel my subscription, I have 10 days left now, I am still in trial period. I don't want them to deduct any money from my credit card as I have not completed free course and trying to cancel my subscription in Trial period.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
Thank you

I would just like a refund and fully cancel my membership, which no attempt of future unauthorized payment removals.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

I would like a refund for something I did not purchase. I called and cancelled. I was told no further charges. You have to honor what you say or this is a fraudulent company.
Dear Student,
Your refund has been processed as per your request. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

Signed in for a FREE 4 weeks course. They charged me 69Cad after I signed in for the free trial. I wasnt suposed to ne charged till past free trial.
Hi signed in for a free phtography 4 weeks course. It was stated that was free 4 weeks trial, and If I don't cancel subscription before free trial ends I would get charged 69cad per month as a subscription plan.
As soon as I signed in the free trialI got a bank charge of 1 cad and the next minute another charge of 69Cad. Same day. Same moment.
I want my money back and cancel this scam of subscription.

Thanks
Dear Student,
The refund was processed from our end on 5th June 2020. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days from the said date.

In the current covid-19 crisis, I need the money they have taken without permission to put food on my table, I don't know what Im going to do
I'm seeking and full refund of the money taken, as well as an apology and for them to follow what I've asked by deleting my account and removing my data from their system

They refuse to refund $39.95 non authorized payment
I signed up for a free membership for a nutrition course and entered my cc information. I was never able to access the advertised free class and got charged $39.95. I contacted the company and asked for a refund but they said it is not possible and offered me access to more classes. I don't need this class, I haven't downloaded anything for the website. All I want is a refund.
Refund of $39.95

I have registered with Shaw Academy and paid R 988 for the course and now need to pay extra for each module when this is not what I was told
I have paid R 399 extra just to access the module 2 toolkit.
i wanted to be able to complete my course on the R 988 paid for the 3 months, with access to all toolkits and certificates as i was advised and my final diploma. i will also want a refund of the R 399 for the module 2 tool kit

I signed up for a free 4-week Graphic Design course. I did not take the course and canceled before the end of 4 weeks but was still charged for it.
I signed up for a free 4-week Graphic Design course April XX XXXX. I did not take the course and canceled before the end of 4 weeks,May 18th 2020 but was still charged for it.
I later saw in my bank account on May 20th 2020 that I was charged $79.99. Days before the official 4 weeks and days AFTER I had already made sure to cancel the account since I would not be using their services.
When I reached out to talk to customer rep. they informed me that my account was not canceled (which is not true) and proceeded to withhold the funds they took from my bank account.
I would like a refund.

I would like my money back in full and to be charged no further.
Dear Student,
As per your request we have cancelled your subscription. Please be assured that you will not be charged way forward.
We have also processed your refund. It will be credited back to your account within 5-7 business days.

No refund but can offer $600+ of free months? SCAMMERS
I just want my £50 back.
REFUND of my money for a scammed service.
Dear Student,

This company continues to charge my card after multiple confirmations that the account is cancelled.
I want a full refund for the "service" that I have not used nor do I plan to use because its garbage and not work even close to the $70 that was unlawfully charged to my account

I would like a refund
